🎭 From Tattoo Artist to Spiritual Guide: The Man Who Discovered That Rock Bottom in Colombia Was Actually the Door to Freedom
What happens when a successful tattoo artist making good money, dating multiple women, and building the perfect Instagram life wakes up one morning and realizes he's completely empty inside? When someone spirals so deep into shame, drinking, and performance that the only way out is a one way ticket to Colombia and a plant medicine ceremony that shatters every mask he's ever worn? This is Nicholas Kennen's story, from chasing validation through money, muscles, and status to becoming an international speaker and bestselling author who helps leaders transform crisis into courage and build lives really worth living.
In this raw conversation, Nicholas opens up about the masks we all wear: the hyper performer using success to hide unworthiness, the positive thinker drowning in anxiety, the spiritual seeker collecting knowledge while ignoring their body. But instead of staying trapped in grandiosity and depression (the two sides of shame's coin), he chose to sit alone with his demons, drink medicine until he vomited out decades of trauma, and discovered that the greatest gift we can give ourselves is acknowledging the truth: I'm lost, I don't know what I'm doing, and I need help.
🔥 DEEP CONCEPTS EXPLORED:
• Why anxiety is not a negative emotion but a fire alarm telling you something needs attention
• The difference between love and attachment: one gives freedom, the other grasps and controls
• How the father wound shapes your relationship with money and the mother wound shapes your self worth
• Why positive thinking without emotional processing keeps you anxious and stuck in your head
• The domesticated soul: how society has trained us out of our wildness and natural emotions
• Anger vs aggression: why anger is a necessary boundary setting tool when you're the steward of it
• Shame's two faces: deep depression (why bother?) and grandiosity (I'll prove I'm worthy through achievement)
• Why most people are meditating wrong: they're just thinking with their eyes closed instead of feeling
• The breadcrumbs trail: when you don't know what you're looking for spiritually, follow what feels false
• How plant medicine ceremonies can take you through hell first, then show you God's unconditional love
🧠 PRACTICAL WISDOM YOU'LL LEARN:
• Why "I can't" is the greatest insult to life and proof you've forgotten who you truly are
• The first truth that opens the door to healing: admitting "I'm lost and I don't know what I'm doing"
• How to communicate anger without aggression: feel the charge, speak from it respectfully, set the boundary
• Why breathwork is one of the fastest ways to access your subconscious and process stuck emotions
• The difference between making money (external) and feeling abundant (internal trust in life's provision)
• How to take full ownership in relationships: speak from your feelings, not from blame or mothering
• Why the question "what's the meaning of life?" only arises when you're disconnected from feeling alive
• The greatest productivity hack: be at peace in your mind, excited for what you want to do, without fear
• How hyper performance is often shame in disguise: building empires to earn validation that never comes
• Why giving your gift away through service is the final step in healing or you'll stay energetically constipated
