Speaker 1: Music Music.
00:00:10
Speaker 2: To the favorites live on youtube presented by draft kings the crown is yours i'm brandon kravitz joined by the first lady kendra middleton a disaster in week two for quarterbacks across the league a disaster for our betting card and we will get to that in a moment receipts we got those cash crash clutch a word from the oracle evan abrams and a Monday Night Football SGP that you can tail or fade per your choosing coming up in a bit as well. Not our best showing, Middleton.
00:00:46
Speaker 1: I am so beyond ready to eat some crow on this episode, but I said this to you in our pre-show meeting. I do feel a little bit better that all I saw on the internet was complaining about how bad of a weekend everybody else had, unless your name is Evan Abrams.
00:01:01
Speaker 3: So you know what? At least I'm not eating crow alone today.
00:01:05
Speaker 2: I want to give you so much shit today and I will give you some, but I was not much better. So, um, it's, uh, I at least won something. You're correct about that. Shout out to the Browns. Uh, quick checkup on the draft Kings contest. Yeah, I know. And I should have taken their money line too. Um, it's ugly two and three last week. We went one and four. We had the chargers minus six and a half, not even close. Chiefs minus six and a half. They won an overtime by three. They should have lost the game. Jags plus two and a half. I got bullied into that one. I did individually take the Broncos money line and I won that bet too. Steelers plus five and a half. I think our read was right on that. I don't regret the read on that one. Like I regret some of these other ones.
00:01:56
Speaker 1: That's how I feel about my Ravens bet, which I was going to talk about this in a moment. I have another thing that I can have as a big takeaway, but I, I need to wait for Dr. Chow to come on before I make picks. I know I'm going to lose some value, but I really was unsure about Zay Flowers this weekend, took a gamble early and it really, I think, bit me in the ass. I think I had a good read on the Ravens to start, but just we'll get to the injuries and everything. But that is, that's one thing that I thought I had a good read on.
00:02:27
Speaker 2: And wow. Well, shout out to Chow. And it's something that, I would recommend everybody go and look at is at six score.com and you can sign up using the code action. Give us some extra love on that. Um, they, there are scores for each team, how much the other team is benefiting from their opponent's injuries. And if you use that to your advantage and your handicapping, if you go through, um, the hit rate on that is pretty crazy. Now you've got to be willing to wait. You have to be willing to wait. Cause he's not releasing that until much later in the week. I tend to bet earlier in the week. So I like to look at that for my post game analysis personally, but based on the way week two, week one and week two have gone, I'd probably be better off waiting. So maybe we'll revisit some things, but look, you don't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater. As they say, we're not going to completely take whatever our process is, crumple it up and throw it in the trash. But again, when you lose you got to reevaluate things it doesn't mean you have to change things but it doesn't mean you have to reevaluate things to wrap on the contest browns plus eight and a half you're welcome on that that was.
00:03:35
Speaker 1: Our one win crazy that that is the one thing out of all of this dude gun to my head i would have played roulette with this and i would be a dead woman i'm like multiple times yeah seriously why were there four bullets out of the chamber how did that even happen.
00:03:53
Speaker 2: You gotta prove it to me. I gotta see evidence. I'll show you the receipts. You don't believe me?
00:03:59
Speaker 4: I have the receipt for it right here!
00:04:02
Speaker 2: I've got some receipts for you. I believe the text read, Oh my God, you fake MF-er. I'll keep it PG for production. is what the text said in our group chat. That was in regards to Gifford and I, our producer, talking about taking the Denver Broncos against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags have won nine straight regular season games. It felt like, you know, you can feel when the bubble is about to burst and the bubble was always gonna burst in Denver. Come on. The Broncos aren't that bad.
00:04:36
Speaker 1: I actually have a lap that I would like to take because yesterday, did the offense look really bad in the second half? Yeah, but it was a defensive just pants crapping by the Jags defense. 17 unanswered. I don't know what Campanile was doing, but I got slaughtered on Twitter on Thursday night because I said the Jaguars could have had Aiden Hutchinson and And Jags fans came for my throat.
00:05:03
Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
00:05:04
Speaker 1: Where was Trayvon Walker yesterday? Where was Josh Heinz Allen? I get that they have probably the best line in football, but you guys are both first round picks who did absolutely nothing yesterday.
00:05:17
Speaker 3: I need both of you to live up to those contracts. Ridiculous.
00:05:21
Speaker 2: So I thought Bo Nix outplayed Trevor Lawrence as well.
00:05:24
Speaker 3: I would give you that.
00:05:25
Speaker 2: 9.3 yards per play.
00:05:29
Speaker 3: I've given up on the kid.
00:05:31
Speaker 2: This is now the second year in a row where we've got major drop issues. And that was on him. That's not on Sertan.
00:05:39
Speaker 1: My Jags group chat has been saying him for Marvin Harrison Jr. straight up, who says no. And I honestly really don't hate it. I just don't think the cards would do it.
00:05:49
Speaker 2: We'll give you our trash. Can we take your trash, please?
00:05:53
Speaker 4: Yes.
00:05:54
Speaker 2: Trash trade. I am very curious to see. I haven't seen any of the advanced numbers on Travis Hunter yet. and how much of Jalen waddle went off in this game, what the matchup data was and all that stuff. We'll probably learn more about that throughout the course of the week. You know, once the, the real sickos start to watch the all 22, but that, that is something that I'm curious about. Cause with the idea was the Jags defense was going to be improved. Cause now they've got a corner that can lock down. And Wada was not locked down. Bo Nix recorded his fifth career win when trailing by double digits at any point. So, I mean, at least you had that. You had your moment where the Jacksonville Jaguars were up by a bunch.
00:06:35
Speaker 1: The other thing that I had yesterday was as much as I ate crow on yesterday's slate, miraculous things for my futures.
00:06:45
Speaker 2: That was, you know, it's funny that you say that because that was the only, as I'm walking my Jackson this morning, the only solace I could take and how awful an NFL betting weekend it was, was that a lot of the things that we've discussed for months seem to be coming to fruition. Packers under, um, or even more so the bucks under, um, At eight and a half, the Steelers look like trash. We kind of said that that was going to happen. Brown's over.
00:07:13
Speaker 3: The card's over.
00:07:16
Speaker 2: Not just the Raiders over. We have the Raiders going to the playoffs on this podcast, and they're 2-0 right now, taking on a Saints team. That's one of the more fascinating games. The Chargers sucking another one. So, you know, I think we kind of need to do this for ourselves, for our own mental well-being is to we save the good receipts, too, is to is to remember the good times that we have had in giving out what will look to be winners.
00:07:43
Speaker 1: I'm sorry for our pick-em. I guess we both have had bad weeks. And now we can just throw it away.
00:07:49
Speaker 3: We're humble.
00:07:51
Speaker 1: We are once again kumbaya-ing and holding hands into next week in good faith.
00:07:57
Speaker 2: The only way through this is as a unit. And as I said, I would give you more shit. But the picks that I wanted to get into the contest were the Cardinals. They didn't even come close to covering. I tried to make a case for Atlanta Cardinals. between their two quarterbacks they couldn't put together a quarterback rating north of 35 so I have really not much ground to stand on now you went from jagging off to Jackson off are you still a Lamar Stan after he wet the bed in the second half against New Orleans.
00:08:31
Speaker 3: Yeah, I am. I don't remember which game.
00:08:35
Speaker 1: I asked you about this last week, but I think it might have been the Saints. I don't know who it says more about once again this week in this game.
00:08:44
Speaker 3: I don't know who this week was.
00:08:48
Speaker 1: I was hoping to learn who is who and who's real and who's not. But I think I'm more confused than I was last week. And now I'm more confused about both of these teams.
00:08:57
Speaker 2: Yeah, we've got some we've got some 0 and 2s later on in the pod that we need to discuss. We'll get the trends with Evan Abrams on that before we get to our cash crash and clutch. Kendra, your one big shiny takeaway from week two thus far in the NFL.
00:09:17
Speaker 3: Just that I'm an idiot.
00:09:19
Speaker 1: I think that that's that's my big takeaway is that I am a very dumb person and the Patriots are in bed jail. That's I have officially put them in bed jail rest of the year.
00:09:32
Speaker 2: At least is there like a there's a prison sentence. You just said it as I was thinking about the question rest of the year. You're saying you will not bet on a Patriots game. Yeah, the rest of the.
00:09:42
Speaker 3: Year years in a row.
00:09:44
Speaker 1: And I already have a Drake future, the Patriots, any them and whoever they're playing officially.
00:09:50
Speaker 3: In jail, federal prison.
00:09:54
Speaker 2: Okay. And they are sharing a cell with the Atlanta Falcons. I refuse to bet on the Atlanta Falcons. I will probably bet against them. Now, I will say that I think you could sell yourself on some Thursday night football value at seven. Michael Penix has a chance to play. Green Bay's off of overtime. I'm just saying, if you wanted to make the case.
00:10:25
Speaker 3: I think you need to call the.
00:10:27
Speaker 2: Hotline, my friend.
00:10:28
Speaker 3: I think you need to call the hotline.
00:10:30
Speaker 2: The hotlanta hotline. I'm already doing it to myself. You're in prison, Atlanta. You're in absolute prison. We have much to get to. Cash, crash, clutch. Who are our heroes and zeros in week two thus far? But first, a word from our favorite clutch sports app, DraftKings.
00:10:47

00:11:22
Speaker 2: We're dead in the water. If it crashes, it crashes, right?
00:11:26
Speaker 4: Never stood a chance. No, it was cash.
00:11:32
Speaker 2: Let's get to our cash crash and clutch, our version of high-low hero. Who is your cash of the week?
00:11:38
Speaker 1: I got to go the Panthers, man. I couldn't get to the window on them at the beginning of the season. I said I wasn't going to back them, whether at least in the same sense, not even just for futures, but the same way this season, because I didn't know if I believed in them. I think Bryce Young might have arrived.
00:11:53
Speaker 3: What do you think?
00:11:54
Speaker 2: Well, he certainly looks like it. I mean, it was one of the notes that I wrote for myself is, you know, let's Let's give credit where credit is due, because when he looks like shit, we certainly like to call it out. Bryce Young now back to back good games that he's put together. It's starting to feel like it's not a fluke. Atlanta already without their top two edge rushers, which is part of the reason why this team is looking as bad as they are. That was already the case coming into the season. with James Pierce suspended and Jalen Walker injured AJ Terrell, their top corner, which was also helping to at least keep their team somewhat respectable. He got hurt early on in the game, but Bryce Young Lloyd also, I mean that he was looking like defensive player of the year out there in Atlanta, making the case with, uh, all of the action that he had, but Bryce definitely deserves a shout out for what he has put together in back-to-back weeks. And all of a sudden, you know, we missed a golden opportunity to back our sad cats. And we might have to look to do that in the future. I think we might have to have a kitten conversation on Thursday's episode. My catch was Jamar Chase. That catch was ridiculous. I didn't make any money off of it. I just thought it was so good that he deserved a shout out here. Spinning around, lost the ball in the lights while defended by Derek Stingley, one of the best DBs in the NFL, makes the catch, toe taps on the sideline. That was OBJ one-handed in primetime levels of impressive. If that was on Sunday night football, we'd never stop talking about it. But on top of that, it's not just what the offense is doing. They've had Burrow and Chase and Higgins for years now. They have help. The Bengals' defense in back-to-back weeks is delivering big. And if this is legit, and this isn't just a week two, we're going to overreact and overhype them sort of thing. This is an easy top five team in the NFL. Fourth in EPA on defense, tenth in success rate so far through two weeks. And they've played two somewhat... somewhat decent offenses. It's not like they've gone up against the Titans. They played the Bucks. They played the Texans who looked decent in week one. No Nico Collins, but I'm impressed. I'm impressed with what I've seen from Cincinnati.
00:14:16
Speaker 1: Yeah, another future ticket that I do hold is the Cincinnati Bengals over nine and a half. Embrace debate. The entire Internet's been talking about it. You brought it up better than the Odell Beckham Jr.
00:14:26
Speaker 3: Catch.
00:14:27
Speaker 1: Or I would say, yeah, honestly, just because of who was on him and him having to spin around to catch that. I it wasn't as I think viral as that catch. Like it's not going to do the things that it's done to the Internet and span time or whatever. But I think from an athleticism standpoint, maybe more impressive.
00:14:48
Speaker 2: Yeah, when you take into account the body control, the awareness in the moment, who's defending him.
00:14:57
Speaker 2: The spatial awareness, all of that, and the fact that I think he could do it again. OBJ's catch was awesome, but it's not like we ever saw him do that again. That was it. That was one incredible catch. What Jamar Chase did, I'm confident that if Joe Burrow throws the same pass next Sunday, Jamar Chase could make that catch. So I'm more impressed with him. My crash is Aaron Rodgers. I mean, I expect it from Cooper Rush. I expect it from Marcus Mariota, who's quickly becoming the cockroach of the NFL. We can't get rid of this guy. Jacoby Brissett, I expect you to turn into a pumpkin. But Aaron Rodgers, you were given... Every single opportunity to stay in this game. Don't let the final score fool you. The Patriots were not a good football team yesterday, but Aaron Rodgers was among the worst quarterbacks that I saw on Sunday. Every once in a while. You see one of those flicks of the wrist down the field, but there wasn't a lot else there. This man, you can tell he's getting old because he operates the pocket the way that I would. I would have no sense of pressure coming my way. He has none. I mean, he took a lick yesterday and he can't escape the pocket. There's no mobility anymore. 3.5 yards per pass. He's not good. They are tough to back, especially now. They're going to go into next week against Cincinnati as underdogs. But without Mike Tomlin, I just don't trust this. And he's hard to back with your money the way that this is looking.
00:16:37
Speaker 1: Yeah, I was going to say he looks like he still thinks that he's prime Aaron Rodgers and he's not. And it's not tough to watch because I don't really love the guy. But the thing that I really respect about quarterbacks and I talk about all the time, specifically with Matt Stafford, is that like, sure, he's not as quick to take off or as agile as he used to be. But it's like six cents pocket awareness is just next level. And it feels like Aaron Rodgers. I don't know if it's the drugs. I don't know if it's the drama. I don't know what it is. But it feels like that sense for him doesn't exist in the same way we've seen other quarterbacks who have, you know, had a career old enough to smoke cigarettes operate.
00:17:19
Speaker 3: Look at Joe Flacco even.
00:17:21
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:17:22
Speaker 2: Flacco has aged much more gracefully than Rogers. And right now, could you confidently tell me that you'd rather have Aaron Rogers be your quarterback than Joe Flacco?
00:17:30
Speaker 1: Absolutely not. I would take Joe Flacco every single day of the week. Could you imagine telling yourself that 10 years ago?
00:17:37
Speaker 2: No, no, I couldn't, you know, and you would get a couple extra points of value too. If like, if you put Joe Flacco as the starting quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Cincinnati Bengals. So the Steelers, they're, They probably win the game yesterday, but I'm just thinking like moving forward. So if you put Flacco there, you get an extra three points of value. You're probably getting the Bengals or the Steelers rather plus six and a half at home with Joe Flacco as the quarterback. Sign me up for that all day long, all day. But Rogers, I just I think a lot of people are going to get sucked into into the hook there. And I'm not sure that it's worth it.
00:18:15
Speaker 3: Drew Allertake is not as crazy as it sounded.
00:18:18
Speaker 4: Is it?
00:18:19
Speaker 2: When did you, uh, do you, do you recall when you thought that transition would happen?
00:18:25
Speaker 3: When we did our five hot takes for the season?
00:18:27
Speaker 1: I can't remember if I said week eight or week 10, one of the two.
00:18:31
Speaker 2: Oh, we are on track.
00:18:34
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:18:35
Speaker 2: Air Rogers was a real quick, a fun stat for you. So Cooper Rush, Jake Strand, Jack Strand. Anyway, they were the worst quarterback combo in the NFL this week. Caleb Williams right behind them. And we'll talk about his injury in a bit. But a lot of that was weather related. Justin Herbert was the next worst quarterback in terms of quarterback rating. And then Aaron Rodgers. Those were the worst quarterbacks in week two in the NFL so far. That's how bad Rodgers was.
00:19:04
Speaker 1: Go ahead. My crush, speaking of Justin Herbert, is going to be the Chargers. What just an absolute crash and burn for both of us. I really thought that this would be a bounce back spot, but this definitely says more about the Raiders, in my opinion.
00:19:18
Speaker 3: Kirk looked good yesterday. I hate to say it.
00:19:21
Speaker 1: I was one of these people where I'm like, they're going to wind up having a lot of pressure to play the kid, love them anyway, regardless of who's starting. But I'm wondering if this is good or bad for Fernando Mendoza.
00:19:31
Speaker 2: I think it's great for him. This was the plan. The plan was for Kirk. They spent a bunch of money on defense. By the way, they have done this without Brock Bowers yet. They don't even have their best player on the field. But the idea was, let's just play a sort of efficient ball control offense where Bowers is a star. They haven't been able to do that yet, but it hasn't mattered. Ash and gentee. rushes for 100 yards a game, and Kirk Cousins doesn't turn the ball over, and our defense will take care of the rest. That was the idea, and let's just see if we can get ourselves into a position where we're in the hunt for the playoffs, keep Mendoza on the bench. They are tracking to do that now. The worst thing that could happen to the Raiders is that they... fall off Cousins is so bad that they have to throw Mendoza out there because that's not what they want to do whether that's the right thing to do or not is a discussion for a different day it's not what the Raiders want to do so with them winning and Cousins looking like a pretty good quarterback it allows them to at least go forward with your plan.
00:20:40
Speaker 3: And I mean I think Fernando needs to sit.
00:20:44
Speaker 2: I don't know. I mean, I don't, and I think that he would be fine as I think the preseason stuff was way overblown, but cousins can still play and they brought him in to do exactly that.
00:20:57
Speaker 1: So I don't think that this Chargers defense should let up 26 points to this Raiders offense without Brock Bowers. So the bigger issue for me here definitely is the offense. Are we overblowing who Mike McDaniel is? I mean, you're the resident Dolphins fan. Are we just overrating him, or do you think him and Harbaugh are beefing? Is this too big of a spotlight for him? What's the issue here? Because it's clearly the offense.
00:21:24
Speaker 2: So I haven't come to a conclusion yet. We're just in week two, so I don't think we have to do that.
00:21:30
Speaker 1: But.
00:21:31
Speaker 2: I do think Mike McDaniel is struggling because he's in a bizarro world right now. Justin Herbert is the exact opposite of Tua. Tua would snap, release. Super accurate. That was his superpower. That was the one thing Tua was good at, is he was an accurate quarterback that got the ball out of his hands quickly. He couldn't throw it more than five yards, but those were the things that he did well. Now he's got Justin Herbert... who can't read a defense, who drops back in the pocket, holds the ball too long, can't hit the broad side of a barn, but can throw the ball a mile. So you've got the complete opposite quarterback from the guy he had been coaching for the last four years. I think it's a really rough transition for Mike McDaniel and one that not enough of us took into account when you go. It's kind of like in dating. If you're dating the meek and mild person, That's not outgoing. And then all of a sudden you break up and then you're with the wild party animal who never shuts up. It's going to be a shock to the system. And that's what Mike McDaniel is dealing with right now.
00:22:39
Speaker 3: All right.
00:22:39
Speaker 2: Can you grade the, can you grade the analogy?
00:22:42
Speaker 3: I think that that was for you and you're like dad brain. I'm going to give that an eight out of 10. Grab it. So that was good.
00:22:48
Speaker 2: I will.
00:22:50
Speaker 3: I thought that that was great.
00:22:51
Speaker 2: You got to know your audience. By the way, the Chargers are the second team in NFL history to lose back-to-back games by double digits, both coming at home against teams that were sub 200 winning percentage the previous season. The last one, Racine Tornadoes in 1926. Don't even know where that is. Go ahead.
00:23:14
Speaker 3: Am I allowed to bet on them next week?
00:23:18
Speaker 1: Are you putting them in bed jail for me?
00:23:21
Speaker 2: So let me, let me take a look. I don't have everybody's seven and a half. I don't think so. I don't think I, I don't think they're bet jail yet. I, I look at this game. So Justin Herbert lost the ball on multiple occasions. He threw an interception. This was a three point game with three minutes and 40 seconds left. They turned the ball over. the Raiders score the 26 to 14 looks a lot worse. Now we were never going to cover the spread, but the 26 to 14 looks a lot worse than what the reality of that game was. So I don't think they're unbettable. I actually think this is something.
00:23:59
Speaker 1: We need to conkey because he's the only on that person on that offense.
00:24:03
Speaker 3: That's like kind of worth a crap at the minute.
00:24:06
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's one of the biggest issues they have. Herbert's struggling, but they are not getting a lot of help with the pass catchers on that team. And Omari on Hampton looks bad too.
00:24:16
Speaker 1: I think 23 carries for 94 yards.
00:24:19
Speaker 2: Yeah. Quarterback injuries to discuss before we get to our clutch of the week. Caleb Williams, hamstring injury. Don't know how long he's going to be out. Jaden Daniels, second year in a row this has happened to him with the dislocated elbow. I watched the video that Dr. Chow put out. on Twitter. He says it's a re dislocation of the left elbow. The reason why that happened is because the tendon, you might want to plug yours for this. The tendon was already loosened. So it happened easier than it should have for a normal person out there that didn't just have the same injury a year ago. So he says that because it's a re dislocation, it's almost like the tendons are used to this mangled mess that once you get the cast on, He should be back sooner than what it looks like if you watch the video, which I don't necessarily recommend. The hamstring injury for Caleb Williams. Who knows? Hamstrings. It could be two weeks. It could be 10 weeks. I don't think we know yet.
00:25:21
Speaker 3: Okay, I have so many things to say.
00:25:24
Speaker 1: We know that I'm a Caleb Williams truther.
00:25:27
Speaker 3: I'm a Caleb Williams apologist.
00:25:29
Speaker 2: I love him.
00:25:29
Speaker 1: I love how quirky he is. I'm obsessed with that about him. He really fueled his haters yesterday by acting like he got shot and for it to come out that it's a hamstring injury. I didn't quite enjoy a lot of the memes, but it was a tough day for those of us who were.
00:25:47
Speaker 3: Like, He's just he's just built it different. I don't know. The haters really they had a W. You can take it. You can hold it. You can have it this week. That was bad.
00:25:56
Speaker 1: It literally that is how I act after I step on a Lego as well.
00:26:00
Speaker 2: It's OK. And as as a dad of a six year old, I do step on Legos quite frequently. So that is that it's like the toe stub. You know, I don't want anyone to ever see me after I stub my toe. It looks a lot like that. I'm sure that it was. I'm sure that it was. He's an emotional guy. He's a, he is an emotional man.
00:26:20
Speaker 1: I've had some, and I like that. I, I like a man who cries. Um, but I have also had hamstring issues and they are not fun.
00:26:27
Speaker 3: They are difficult, but ouch.
00:26:30
Speaker 2: That was a tough.
00:26:31
Speaker 3: Look for my boy and me.
00:26:33
Speaker 2: And it's amazing. So, I mean, so with all the optimism around the bears this season, just zapped in an instant 59 points in week one, followed up by three. I mean, if that doesn't explain the week to week nature of the NFL, nothing does. They had eight touchdowns in week one, zero in week two. It's the biggest drop off offensively week to week in the history of the NFL.
00:26:56
Speaker 3: That would make a lot of sense to me.
00:26:58
Speaker 2: Yeah, it would. Uh, The clutch this week. Shout out to the Brownies. What would I do? Where would I be right now? I'd be on the poverty line, if not for the Cleveland Browns. Maybe Watson won't be benched ahead of the next game. That was the reporting that we had discussed on Thursday's episode. It was... A sloppy game. It was sloppy before the rain hit, but the lightning zapped any remaining energy from Raymond James Stadium. Amazing that there were any fans left. You wouldn't catch me dead waiting two hours to watch the last two minutes of Buccaneers Browns. Those are the real lifers that are out there.
00:27:35
Speaker 3: You're a big fan.
00:27:37
Speaker 2: Oh, no doubt. I wouldn't battle anybody on that. I'm the worst.
00:27:42
Speaker 1: The people who left the Jags-Chargers playoff game a couple years ago when they were down like 21 points or something stupid, I hope all those people feel like idiots because that game ruled.
00:27:51
Speaker 3: I was at that game.
00:27:54
Speaker 2: That's different. That's a playoff game. The weather's nice. I think the weather was nice that day. That was the second.
00:28:01
Speaker 1: Coldest I've ever been in my life. People will say it's crazy that it was in Florida. I know the two instances. One was I'm off the top of my dome, really forgetting what they call it when they play a hockey game at like a baseball stadium. The winter classic. I went to one with the Bruins at Fenway. That was the first, like, coldest day of my life. It was New Year's Day outside.
00:28:23
Speaker 2: Awful.
00:28:24
Speaker 1: Number two would be that Jaguars playoff game because the wet cold, when it is like 20-something degrees, is so much worse. And the third, I went to the last Patriots game of the year up here in 2022.
00:28:36
Speaker 3: Miserable.
00:28:39
Speaker 1: Those three are the coldest I've ever been in my life. Jacksonville does not get very cold, but that night specifically was.
00:28:46
Speaker 3: Hell on earth.
00:28:48
Speaker 2: Next week on the podcast, Kendra's heat rankings. How hot has she been?
00:28:53
Speaker 1: I have some good answers to that.
00:28:56
Speaker 2: So the Bucks at the end of this game. So they come back out of the locker room. It's 615 at this point, local time. it's taken them two hours to get back out on the field. The Bucs, three-yard run, six-yard run, six-yard pass, 10-yard penalty, incompletion, three-yard run, incompletion, game over. The Bucs were held to 176 yards passing. Should we grab the shovels for Baker Mayfield? I mean, this isn't pretty. I love the exact quote. What was the exact quote you had on the last episode? He's I forget what it was, but you buried him. You already.
00:29:39
Speaker 1: Buried him yeah i love him as a person but i just person i wouldn't have signed that contract that feels crazy for him they should have stood their ground a little harder i i think that he was lightning in a bottle he's electric he's fun i love that he loves to talk his talk but You.
00:29:55
Speaker 3: Can't sign a contract like that and go out there and do this. You just can't do it. That's tough. I feel real bad for Bucks fans.
00:30:02
Speaker 2: That could be the title of the article in the newspaper, Lightning in a Bottle, after that game.
00:30:08
Speaker 4: Nice.
00:30:08
Speaker 2: That was really good.
00:30:10
Speaker 1: Yeah, all right.
00:30:11
Speaker 2: Really good. All right. Tea.
00:30:14
Speaker 3: Yeah, fuck it.
00:30:16
Speaker 2: Go ahead. Oh, it's your clutch of the week.
00:30:19
Speaker 1: Um my clutch I had it wasn't me that was for sure um I'm gonna go with the Vikings they just for some reason this 2-0 Vikings team is the funniest 2-0 team to me we can talk about you know Vegas or.
00:30:33
Speaker 3: Whatever but it's the Vikings this division.
00:30:36
Speaker 1: The fact that Kyler went out there and got hurt off the rip and they're surviving the way that they are they kicked my ass yesterday good for them.
00:30:44
Speaker 2: So they are the neon light fade for me in week three. This is one of... I've only made two bets so far. So we're taking it easy to start the early portion of week three betting. But the Bears, zero touchdowns in this game between the Vikings and the Bears. You could have made some good money on that, by the way. I don't know if that market was available. But the Bears... racked up eight penalties for 58 yards. They turned the ball over twice. They lost their starting quarterback, and they still almost won the game at the end. Beware of these phony Minnesota Vikings. Now, this is where we speak out of both sides of our mouth sometimes. I do have a Vikings NFC North ticket. So if I'm wrong, let's be all the way wrong. About that. You said you have one too.
00:31:38
Speaker 3: I have a lions.
00:31:39
Speaker 2: Okay.
00:31:41
Speaker 1: All right.
00:31:41
Speaker 2: Both are still in play. Those are the two teams. I think you'd feel good about as far as winning the division right now, the Packers look like trash and the bears are going to be without Caleb.
00:31:51
Speaker 3: The Packers kicked my ass yesterday.
00:31:53
Speaker 2: They're bad.
00:31:55
Speaker 3: They're bad. They're real bad.
00:31:58
Speaker 2: That is a, that is a mid football team. Diva of the week. I have a nominee for this one.
00:32:05
Speaker 3: Okay, I have one as well. You go first.
00:32:07
Speaker 2: He's just a diva. No, I'm not.
00:32:09
Speaker 3: An impossible diva.
00:32:11
Speaker 2: What would make you say something like that?
00:32:13
Speaker 4: It's pretty obvious.
00:32:14
Speaker 3: Diva alert!
00:32:16
Speaker 2: Could have given it to Caleb for crying his way to the locker room. But I'm going to give it to Marquise Bell for stepping on the nuts of his teammate, Kobe Durant of the Dallas Cowboys. If you think the Jaden Daniels clip is ugly to watch online today, don't look at this one. A cleat to the sack. Ugh. That is. It wasn't just the sack.
00:32:47
Speaker 3: It was also the booty hole.
00:32:49
Speaker 1: It was a twofer.
00:32:53
Speaker 2: You gotta. Talk about.
00:32:54
Speaker 3: That's the back door of the week.
00:32:55
Speaker 2: That is. That's a. That was the back door of the week. Have we been. Is Peg still out on the pod? Okay. Okay. That's my nomination. That was brutal to watch.
00:33:07
Speaker 3: Mine is going to be Mike McDaniel.
00:33:09
Speaker 1: I'm just over the freaking diva attitude on the sidelines and going out there and having stinkers offensively. You can't have the freaking LA gel in your hair and the sunglasses and the clean sneakers and just your offense continuously suck. I just, that's my diva of the week. The self-awareness is just lacking. I need him to go back to being a nerd with his khakis hiked up real far and his shirt tucked in with his stupid nerd glasses. Somebody needs to shove him in a locker and remind him where he came from.
00:33:44
Speaker 2: There's a good chance that was happening in Miami. I wouldn't rule that out.
00:33:48
Speaker 1: God.
00:33:49
Speaker 3: He went from looking like a drug dealer to looking like a loser.
00:33:52
Speaker 2: Yeah, we say all of that. We're going to end up betting the Chargers plus seven this week. That's going to end up in the contest. I can just feel it. My gut is screaming at me.
00:34:02
Speaker 3: Can we make a deal?
00:34:04
Speaker 1: You know how Ladd McConkie was in bed jail for me last year? I think that this is if we do wind up getting to the window on the Chargers and they let us down again, they go on IR.
00:34:18
Speaker 2: I like that. Yeah, because we can't eliminate everybody. We'd be out of teams by the time we get to Thanksgiving.
00:34:23
Speaker 3: They go on probation.
00:34:24
Speaker 2: I like that idea. Got a little bit of probation, but it's looking like we're not locking it in yet, people. But Chargers plus seven, we got our eye on it. Let's bring in the Oracle, Evan Abrams. Evan, what did you learn this weekend that you'll be taking with you? And have you ever taken a nut shot like that?
00:34:46
Speaker 4: I haven't taken. Maybe I have. I just went for the baseball. There's a chance I actually, and I didn't like wearing a cup because who likes wearing a cup? So there's a chance I got a nutshell.
00:34:57
Speaker 2: The one time I was rounding, I was rounding first base on my way, hard charging the second base. They hit a nice one in the gap and the, and the cup just slides down my pant leg. And by the time I get the second base, this thing is on my cleat. It was very strange. Yeah.
00:35:17
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:35:18
Speaker 4: Very uncomfortable.
00:35:20
Speaker 2: I think that was it for me.
00:35:21
Speaker 1: I think I had a freak out one time because I found my brother's cup in our dishwasher and I wouldn't eat dishes that came out of the dishwasher anymore.
00:35:32
Speaker 4: Good memories.
00:35:33
Speaker 1: All right.
00:35:33
Speaker 4: So this week, you mentioned this to me before, Kravitz. It is worth noting. So 0-2 teams. in week three, have shown value over the years, been pretty decent bets, especially you want to look for 0-2 versus obviously not 0-2. Teams have already won games. 78-55 against the spread in BetLabs, about 59%. Last decade, 42-22, 66%. So definitely something that does pop. year to year when you look at these things. I think I have it up right now.
00:36:10
Speaker 2: So you said 66% last decade, 78 and 55 against the spread. What does that date back to? Is that 2014? No. So for BetLabs, it's 2005 for the 78 and 55.
00:36:18
Speaker 4: This week, it would be the Falcons, Commanders, Dolphins, Chargers, Titans, Bucks, and Rams. But Rams, forget. We have to wait for tonight. Falcons, Commanders, Dolphins, Chargers, Titans, Bucks.
00:36:37
Speaker 2: Bucks. Planting the flag. That's not a segment on this show anymore, but I'm planting the flag on the Bucks.
00:36:43
Speaker 4: Also, got to wait on the Titans. That's with the Giants next week. We'll see how that goes.
00:36:50
Speaker 2: All right, that's going to be the most important stat that you read anywhere. So if you like it, you might want to get ahead of that. Bad day for the public. NFL side, 75% of the tickets. Eagles, Bucs, 49ers, Ravens, Chiefs, Packers. That's one in five against the spread this week. The public took a bath, Evan.
00:37:10
Speaker 4: Yeah, on the show we do every Sunday morning, I was going over all the public sides. They did terribly. We were talking about that Eagles game. did not work out if you laid the points. Interesting enough though, so if you just look at the public, which is 51% of tickets are higher according to our Action Network data, 12 and 18 against the spread this season. And I found this kind of interesting. So if you just look at the first two weeks and you look at the last few years, it's actually been literally terrible. So through two weeks, last three years, 33 and 60. And then if you go through two weeks again, Uh, dating back to 2021, 72 and 112, 39%. So 36% last three years, 39%, 12 and 18 so far this year. So this seems to be a year to year theme, at least early season where, uh, it's pretty, pretty brutal for, uh, teams getting a lot of tickets.
00:38:05
Speaker 1: Do you have an early look at an O and two team that you like the best?
00:38:10
Speaker 4: That's a fun question. I wasn't thinking about, um, man.
00:38:16
Speaker 3: I'm going to give you some Falcons tight ends.
00:38:20
Speaker 4: Um, I am a sucker for probably two of these teams. What's the line on, let me look at Tampa for a second.
00:38:27
Speaker 3: I've got stuff pulled up. It's Tampa's getting two and a half.
00:38:31
Speaker 4: Two and a half. Yeah. Uh, I would say I'm a fan. Like I'm a fan of three of them. Honestly, I'll bet them Tampa chargers in Miami can't catch my attention. Um, Miami is going to be the.
00:38:45
Speaker 3: Really tough one. I'm going to be on Tampa and the Chargers.
00:38:48
Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, just thinking about this, like on a, on a baseline level, looking at the teams first that you think there's no way this team starts. Oh, and three. That's a good place to start. Now, obviously then we have to layer in the numbers are going to matter in all of this. But if we're talking about tight spreads, I think this is why the bucks stand out to me. We're talking about a spread of three points or less for a team that they're probably going to disappoint. A lot of people, their fan base is, is they are, I'm in the state of Florida. These people are freaking out today. This team isn't, they're not. 0-3 bad. And they're taking on a team that has been pretty phony so far. They beat the, the Vikings beat the Packers 22-0 in the fourth quarter. Otherwise, they were outplayed. And then they were outplayed by the Bears. They should have lost that game to Tyson Badgen. If Caleb Williams is still in the game, they lose. This is not a real 2-0 team. I mean, this is just simple bet psychology. Place the bet now.
00:39:45
Speaker 4: Also, I'll say one thing. So the reason these Dawgs in history probably tend to come through hear this out. So Miami Casey, if you look at the look ahead line, it was seven and a half right now it's 11 and a half. So that's four points different.
00:40:00
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:40:00
Speaker 4: Chargers bills look ahead was three. Now it's seven. The box look ahead had them favored in the game. So like, if you look at just the perception of what we thought the teams were and what's happening now, to me, that's where the cover comes through the door. You hear the ambulance is coming. They're coming to get me. So I'm going to have to go in a second.
00:40:19
Speaker 2: I love it. I love it.
00:40:21
Speaker 1: This was already said, but the last team to go. Oh, and three and still make the playoffs was Houston in 2018. And they lost the wild card before that. It was the 98 bills.
00:40:33
Speaker 2: Yeah, but I will say this.
00:40:34
Speaker 4: I mean, obviously the wild card spots, the extra week, it is a tad easier than it has been in the past, but yeah, it's almost a death sentence.
00:40:44
Speaker 2: Okay, before we cut you loose, Evan, we've got a parlay to get to. We got a DraftKings read that I've been told by production we do have. One of the things that stood out to me is I'm box score scanning Sunday night. And at that point, I've lost a lot of money and I'm tired from chasing around a six-year-old and I'm delirious. And I had a very strong IPA. So you never know what's real and what's not at this time. But I started to notice that there were a lot of teams that really struggled to run the ball. And then the other thing that really stood out was that many of those teams didn't struggle to win. So I looked at teams that ran for 99 yards or less on Sunday. There were 15 of them across the league. They went nine and six straight up. Is there anything that you can add to that? Because I found this to be quite peculiar that you had this many teams that struggled to run, but that it also didn't really impact the result.
00:41:41
Speaker 4: Yeah, one of the wilder results of a week we've seen in some time. So if you just look at the teams who rush for under 100 yards, obviously their opponent rushing for 100 or more, they went seven and four this week, which minimum like 10, more than seven games, like the best week I've found in 20 years. So I think it's just a complete utter change to what we saw last week. I think the two weeks as a dichotomy against each other will be something very difficult to try to predict going forward, but something very weird. And you had mentioned the blowouts, eight games of double digits. We've had 17 games by double digits through two weeks, which is the most since 2017. So definitely a little bit of a gap there.
00:42:28
Speaker 2: All right. Alt lines, maybe a way to look in the future. All right, Evan, go back to your hole. We really appreciate your time.
00:42:35
Speaker 4: Goodbye.
00:42:44
Speaker 2: Time now for our Monday Night Football primetime same-game parlay presented by Giraffe Kings. I love me some underdog tonight. Giants plus six and a half. Rams without Myles Garrett. Puka Nakua is a game-time call. We've got the Australia Factor working against them. And John Harbaugh, road dog of seven or less, 40 and 26 against the spread. He's a Monday Night Football coach. Give me the dogs. plus six and a half on the New York Giants. I'm throwing that into the parlay.
00:43:19
Speaker 3: I'm going to go with Jackson Dart to throw a pick.
00:43:20
Speaker 1: Didn't have one last week. It's plus 106 on DraftKings right now. I don't think he gets to week three without letting one loose. I think that either way, they're playing a better defense this week. If it's a garbage time, late time, kind of just a thoughtless play by him at some point, your deflection off of a receiver feels very Giants at the moment. So I just don't, it's more so I don't think he gets to week three without throwing a pick.
00:43:45
Speaker 2: And it's anti-correlated, which means we get a nice little boost on that. Plus 410 on DraftKings, plus six and a half on the Giants. But Jackson Dart puts us into a precarious position. with an interception. Why would you place these bets on draft Kings? Because all draft Kings customers are getting a profit boost every game day in the month of September. And that is why the crown is yours. I can't say I feel great Kendra, but I at least feel good that the episode was entertaining from my lens. And this was like a therapy session. So some of my angst has been relieved. Thank you to you and everybody.
00:44:26
Speaker 1: I was going to say, I also feel like I went through a therapy session feels a little bit. I feel a little bit better than I did considering I didn't sleep very well last night. Yeah. Yeah.
00:44:36
Speaker 2: I've got like that, uh, that neck thing, you know, like when you get that nerve, you sleep wrong.
00:44:40
Speaker 4: Yeah.
00:44:41
Speaker 2: I got that. I got that and no sleep. And thank you all for hanging out with us. The favorites will return on Thursday as we dive deep into week three of the NFL. And you can catch it right here on the Action Network YouTube page or wherever you download your favorite podcasts. Our show has been presented by DraftKings. The crown is yours.
