Mike and Jennie Johnson grew up in Logan, were friends all through high school, and got married at 20 and 18. Twenty-nine years, four kids, and four grandkids later, they're building a business side by side, with eight or nine family members working alongside them by choice.
Mike spent 18 years in mortgages before walking away to knock doors. Jennie's first reaction was to ask if he'd lost his mind. In this episode they open up about what that leap looked like from both sides, the phone call that turned things around for Mike early on, and why Jennie watched his confidence come back once he was helping people again.
They also get into how they raise a family people actually want to be around, why Jennie always picks the relationship over being right, and the simple speakerphone habit that turned work from something that pulled them apart into something they do together.
In this episode: Meeting in high school and marrying young Why so many family members chose to join their business Working with your kids: being a dad first and a leader second Earned, not given, and why that's hard for a natural giver Leaving an 18-year mortgage career for door-to-door The leadership call that changed Mike's trajectory Believing in people before they believe in themselves Why being involved beats being supportive.
If you caught last week's episode with their daughter Kayla and her husband Nick, this one fills in the rest of the story.
