Speaker 2: Welcome back to the Fantasy Flex podcast from Action Network and Fantasy Labs. I'm your host keV Masterra John and I'm joined by my co host Sean Kerner. Last episode we discussed tight ends, So if you missed that, it's available now on your podcast feed or on Action Network's YouTube page. Give us a five star rating and like the video while you're there. Today, we'll be getting into some ADP discrepancies between Yahoo and ESPN Fantasy Sean explain to the folks what we're looking at here.
00:01:00
Speaker 1: Yeah, so we're just going to go through and look at you know, Yahoo and ESPN ADP specifically and just see which guys are like, way higher, way lower on each site. Because depending on what site you're drafting on, you know, each site kind of has their overall rankings where someone like us is setting you know, their overall ranks and then the ADP is where people are actually getting drafted, and you'll find the ADP closely resembles the overall ranks because there's people out there, you know, they're busy, they have lives, jobs that aren't fans football, so when they go to the draft, they haven't done a ton of research, so they're they're typically just kind of drafting along with the rankings for those sites. So you'll see some differences in ADP on each site. So I think it's important to kind of prepare for which players are going to be way higher, way lower typically for each site, just so you can better prepare. So these don't necessarily have to be guys that you were I are like super high or low on but just guys that you know are going way earlier, way later, depending on what format you're on.
00:02:06
Speaker 2: I'm looking at QB right now, Sean, who's this first QB looks like looks like Justin Herbert QB seven.
00:02:15
Speaker 1: Yeah, So I mean depending on where he ranked, Justin Herbert, whether you like him or not, if you're on Yahoo, he's going pretty early. He's got he's the seventh quarterback off the board, sixty sixth overall. However, if you're drafting on ESPN, I don't know what's going on here, but he's going as a QB fifteen hunter ninth overall. So my rank for him is right in the middle, like I have him QB ten, QB eleven. So if I'm on Yahoo, I'm just going and thinking, you know, he might get scooped up a little bit earlier. They have him ranked way higher, so someone's probably going to reach for him, Whereas on ESPN, like for whatever reason, they have ranked way lower. So if you're on ESPN, you know, I would be interested and kind of getting Herbert as you know, my QB twelve or thirteen off the board, so that right off the bat, justin Herbert, that's a wide range of you know, overall ranks about forty but also within the position. So and I know you're you're pretty high on Herbert, right.
00:03:17
Speaker 2: Yeah, he's my QB eight, So getting at QB seven it's not crazy to me. But sixty sixth overall you can get him on a lot of formats in the eighties, so about like around too high. I would take him the seventies, no problem, but I wouldn't take him where he's going. Quarterback it really depends on quarterbacks flying off the board in your drafts. If that's the case, and Herbert is totally like, you know, the best player available, and you see a bunch of wide receivers that you could get going way later. I mean, I see I see his teammate Quenton Johnston going in the one twenties. So like in a normal draft, you would take Quentin Johnston or like Underdog, let's say before Herbert. But if you want to get Herbert and then Quentin Johnston way later, you could totally do that. I don't think it's awful, but yeah, this Yahoo ADP, I'm all over that. Or excuse me, the young ESP sixty six overall ESPN is where he's one o nine, so and that's yeah, I'm all over that at one o nine.
00:04:10
Speaker 1: Yeah, And like I think on Underdog he's like t QB ten, which is right around where I have him. I think that's another thing like Underdog best Ball. Obviously it's a different format, but that ADP is gonna be close, but it's gonna be sharper because those are drafts for you know, everyone's like spending a certain amount of money on it. You're gonna have a lot of sharper drafters, So I consider Underdog's ADP to be much much sharper than Yahoo and ESPN, So just wanted to point that out there. But yeah, ESPN, if you like Justin Herbert, you're gonna love drafting on ESPN because you can get him super cheap.
00:04:45
Speaker 2: Yeah, and like I said, param with Quentin Johnson around later, that's that's pretty nice for that price, Like, it's pretty crazy that you could do that right now, I'm looking at that. But then there's another quarterback, Matthew Stafford's QB eight on ESPN, and that's pretty much pricing Lo last year as the norm his forty one touchdown season when he's typically been between twenty and thirty. Not to say he can't repeat that with Davante Adams still there. Pooka Nakua, Well we'll see what happens with him with his off field stuff. But yeah, he's going to be fourteen on YEAHO, which is pretty much in line with his Underdog Best Ball ADP. Most formats have him around like the early teens. Are you drafting Stafford? And would you even consider him ATQB eight?
00:05:29
Speaker 1: Absolutely not. I would not consider him at qbaight. Let somebody else take him at QB eight. That's totally fine with me. Last year was the time to draft him. My very first bet of the twenty twenty five season was Stafford over twenty two and a half passing touchdowns. I thought Davante Adams would help unlock his or help offset his red zone struggles, and and then he had that back injury flair up and I thought I lost the bet. But long story short, Stafford's going to be very touchdown matchup dependent. So some weeks he's going to be ranked out side my top fifteen, and he doesn't have, you know, any rushing upside to kind of correct that. Plus the Rams defense might be legit this year with Miles Garrett potentially Aaron Dalla coming back, so there's gonna be a lot of games where the Rams are just up big and they just run the show of the ball, which you know takes away from Stafford's counting stats. So I wouldn't take him at QB eight on ESPN. QB fourteen on Yahoo is closer to fair. If you're in a twelve team league, he might be the last quarterback drafted, who knows, So I think just if you're on ESPN, just kind of expect someone to maybe reach for him, whether they know that or not, just because they have ranks so high. But yeah, with Stafford going QBA, I'll let someone else take them and if he has a repeat forty touchdown season, so be it.
00:06:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, totally, I don't really want Stafford, but like, if you're in a league where the passing scoring is boosted twenty yards per point, six point passing touchdown, Stafford is absolutely viable.
00:07:00
Speaker 1: Format.
00:07:00
Speaker 2: You could get him around Dak Prescott, and I'd much rather have a Dak Prescott rather have a Joe Burrow in that scoring format much earlier. But Stafford's fine because he's gonna throw, maybe not as much, probably not as much as last year, but he could still be very efficient with that offense that Sean McVay system. If he's healthy, he's going to be a dog. And yeah, QB fourteen is coming letely fine. That's that's not crazy at all. But there's a quarterback here going a little later. Kyler Murray QB eighteen on ESPN. How do you feel on that?
00:07:27
Speaker 1: Yeah? I love that, especially since I mean I expected this, but he was already announced as the week one starter for the Vikings, and I've always thought that it's he's going to have a pretty long leash where it's it's gonna be tough to bench him for JJ McCarthy. I think, you know, they've kind of moved on for McCarthy after last year, so they kind of want to just maximize what they can get out of Kyler this year. You know, Kyler can get hurt and then McCarthy takes back over obviously, but I think he has a long leash. I do like this landing spot for him. We've seen Sam Darnold, Josh Dobbs, you know, have career years in this scheme, so it wouldn't be shocking to see Kyler bounce back this year. He still has plenty of rushing upsides. So ESPN, you know, the ADP, it's going to be slower to catch up than a site like Underdog. So if you're drafting soon and you can get him QB eighteen, I would do it, because again that's in a twelve team league. You're probably drafting him in the last round. He's just starting as your quarterback and you're you know, you're okay dropping him at some point, So I love his upside there on ESPN. I think you know they're making it very reasonable to draft Kyler in the later rounds at Kyl.
00:08:40
Speaker 2: Kyler is a top eight scoring quarterback in fantasy when he plays a full game or whatever. He has some crazy stat that goes around, like I know he was terrible last year, but it was only five games. Maybe it was just a bad fit for the pets E system. Maybe O'Connell. Maybe it works out better. He has the best receiving core of his career. Anti Jockston's not terrible. He is not great anymore or not even great. He wasn't great back then, but he was no Trey McBride.
00:09:04
Speaker 1: I'll take no Trey.
00:09:05
Speaker 2: McBride or Brought Bowers.
00:09:06
Speaker 1: We know that.
00:09:07
Speaker 2: But uh yeah, I'm with you on Kyler. QB eighteen's fine. He goes QB sixteen on Yahoo, so it's not a crazy discrepancy, but you can get him cheaper. And this QB Tyler shuck goes QB twenty eight on yahah That. I mean, you don't really need him, but that's crazy, right.
00:09:25
Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on here. Maybe the guy I mean, like I said, whoever setting these ranks is someone like us, And sometimes I found bugs and like DraftKings pricing where it's like I could see how that would happen. Maybe whoever's ranking them accidentally set like his cell to his age. I think Tyler Shuck's already like twenty eight or something crazy. I'm only half kidding, but yeah, like twenty eight. Yeah, like you probably don't need a draft Shuck in like a twelve team league where you only start one quarterback, but imagine a two quarterback or super flex league where Shuck is drafted around QB twenty eight, and it's like he is the perfect super flex quarterback and you can get him QB twenty eight. So I'd almost go in the Yahoo drafts like planning to get him. I don't think i'd wait for like QB twenty eight. I think I'd be comfortable taking him like between QB twenty and QB twenty five. But it just seems like on Yahoo he's so far down there that people that I mean aren't prepared for the draft kind of just like don't click on him. So you kind of have to get ahead of the sharper people in your league and draft him earlier. But it seems like you can get him pretty late on Yahoo or way too late, I should say. Yeah.
00:10:37
Speaker 2: On ESPN he's the first quarterback after Patrick Mahomes and then as Jared Goff and Daniel Jones, which that's interesting. Yeah, he has a much higher ADP, not that high though, it's in the one thirties, so it's still a reasonable price to get your QB two. Ideally, he's your QB two. If you take a Stafford and you get a Shuck, that's a pretty good combo. You have the floor with Stafford with some upside, and then you have the upside with Shuck. His rushing deeping well Jordan Tyson. If he's healthy, that passing upside could be massive in that offense, especially for fantasy. But yeah, I'd really prefer Shuck as a QB two, And if I can get make QB twenty eight, I'm over the moon. That is that is the dream. Yeah, price for an upside QB two right there. So yeah, I'm in on Shuck. I've been in on Shuck at QB twenty on underdog QB twenty eight, I'm all in if possible. But moving on running back, I'm looking at kylem Ma nunguy here, you have listed RB thirty two on Yahoo, RB thirty eight on ESPN. Let me know how you feel on that.
00:11:37
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's just I think he's the guy that has like he's like Herbert where depending on what side of the coin you are on him, I'm kind of been I'm closer to Yahoo here, but Yahoo, you gotta take him earlier. He's RB thirty two, ninety second overall. That's where I'm comfortable taking him. He has an a grade in my upside chart. I think you could he could probably produce RB thirty two value even if DeAndre Swift stays healthy for all seventeen games ESPN though he's RB thirty eight going one hundred and thirty third overall, signing me up for that. I mean, if you can get him outside of the top thirty five, I think you have to do it. So again, if you're on ESPN, if you're on ESPN, you kind of know some of these guys are going way too late. My guy, Blake Korum one hundred and thirty fourth.
00:12:25
Speaker 2: Yeah, overall, I was about to get into that. I was about to say he's RB forty on ESPN.
00:12:30
Speaker 1: See, Yeah, RB forty. Who else is there?
00:12:34
Speaker 2: Yeah, not true, but Yahoo he goes right after Monung guy. So it's it's interesting now both those running backs. I don't know, maybe it's the RB twos that they depress in value.
00:12:45
Speaker 1: Jonathan Brooks another guy going way way later, way too late, I should say on ESPN Jordan Mason going way way too late. So again ESPN has a problem with their ADP were some of these like high upside backup running backs. I guess in Jordan Mason or Jonathan Brooks case, they could be the starting running back on their team. Who knows, But I think if I'm going into an ESPN draft, I just know I could get these guys that I already love even cheaper. So I'm probably more likely to load up at wide receiver. I'm probably more comfortable taking a top four tight end even if I have to reach. I would just kind of change my strategy to even more to my liking on ESPN, just knowing I can load up on these high upside backup running backs even later. So that's kind of how I'm looking at that. Yahoo's rankings are a lot sharper this year. They don't have as many guys that are absolutely popping. They do have Blake Korum pretty low, but everybody's gonna have Blake Korum pretty low. So I would just say, like, if you're on ESPN, these backup high upside backs are going way too cheap.
00:13:56
Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I definitely want on ESPN Korum Anne those are We check out our last episode or one of our excuse me, one of our more recent episodes on RB two's Handcuffs. We discussed Blake Gorman. We discussed common young guy in depth. Uh and we spoiler we like them, so if you can get him in the one twenties, go get them on ESPN and even in Yahoo it's right around pick one hundred. Anyway, it's not like the end of the world to draft them at a premium over there. It's good players to have on your bench. So we're both in on that. And before we move on, don't forget that. Are you gonna draft Michael Pittman Junior at seventy six overall in any draft?
00:15:03
Speaker 1: Absolutely not. I Well, to be clear, I have no strong opinion on Michael Pittman either way. So yeah, like on ESPN seventy six overall at probably count me out on him. Yahoo one hundred and twenty third. Let me see what that is within the position that's got to be wide receiver forty five. Yeah, like in certain yeah, I'll take Pittman there. Who knows, Like maybe he's Aaron Rodgers' favorite target this year? Yeah, count me in there. So if I'm on Yahoo, I'm like, yeah, like, Michael Pittman's a guy that you could probably get super cheap. Am I gonna be bragging online like, look, I got Michael Pittman and might probably not probably not, but if he's my wide receiver five wide receiver se like he's my bench depth. I'm totally fine with that. So I think on Yahoo he kind of sticks out ESPN. You know, he's way way way higher. Not really, I'm targeting anyway, So I fin I'm on ESPN. I'm letting somebody else take him, but just one guy that's sticking way out for me on Yahoo.
00:16:08
Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm in on Michael Pittman in PPR leagues after pick one hundred, that's completely fine. That's a great range for him with the Xavier Worthy injury, with Piercell gone, basically for the season wide receiver is a little thinner in that range. I'd rather have Pittman than like a Jacobi Myers where he's in a stacked room. Pittman, it's it's DK, It's Pittman. I like Jeremy Bernard. I don't know what to expect, but yeah, it's a pretty consolidated passing room. And after pick one hundred and at one twenty or excuse me, one twenty three, where he's going, Yeah, count me in Wandell Robinson, someone I don't love in real life, but at one seventy seven on Yah, who I'm all in, especially in PPR hell and half PPR had taken there but one o nine on ESPN kind of closer where he goes on underdog. But uh, do you have any interest? Let's say in a PPR league, would you take Wandell at one oh nine?
00:16:57
Speaker 1: Yeah, and I would imagine he goes way earlier than one seventy seventh on Yahoo In full PPR, that's wide receiver fifty eight, where it's like you don't even have to like one del Robinson. But I would take him at wide reserver fifty eight, and he's more of a high floor option. I think his ceiling is pretty limited. We'll see if even Cam Wored wants to target some low aid up like that remains to be seen. But he could be a guy that could give you a solid, you know, four catches a game kind of guy. I think he's he's more valuable in leagues where you start three or even more wide receiver. I'm in a league where you start at least five wide receivers. I think the more wide receivers you start, the more valuable someone like Robinson is. That's more of a high floor player. I will say I do like having more high upside just gambles on my bench, but again in deeper formats where you want like somebody to fill in or buys where he has a good matchup, or he just ends up being really good for the Titans this year. I think getting him at you know, wide receiver fifty eight is pretty crazy. And again on ESPN, he's going way earlier where you know I probably won't draft him there. He's going one oh ninth overall on ESPN, which is you know, I want to say, like wide receiver forty range. I'll probably pass on that. So again he's a guy where site, the pen site kind of dictates where I would be targeting him.
00:18:22
Speaker 2: I I love Wandell as like your flex maybe even wide receiver three in full PPR, but if you're in like a two wide receiver league half PPR, he's just someone i'd pass on. He's probably he'll be on benches, but it's not someone you really want to start. Like you said, high floor, I could see him out targeting Carnell Tate. I don't think that's crazy, just based on the low eight hot the Brian Able system that he's coming from, that he's familiar with Tate maybe maybe more of like not to say a sacrificial X because he's good, he's gonna get his targets. But Wandell is kind of a target hog, and you know, ward to get his completion percentage, maybe even yards attempt up. Maybe he wants to Wandll more often just to get the cheap first down sometimes. But someone who didn't really produce at all last year is Matthew Golden, and he's going a ninety eight on ESPN, which it's higher than Underdog and is higher than a lot of formats, but one seventy eight on Yaho right after Wandell. Yeah, I'll take that shot. What if the first round wide receiver for the Packers a team that got rid of Dubes and got rid of d'antavian Wicks. What if he's good? What if Jordan loves What if he's Jordan loves wide receiver?
00:19:30
Speaker 1: One?
00:19:30
Speaker 2: What if Christian Watson get gets hurt again? I mean, are you in you're wearing the hat, You're wearing the Packers hat.
00:19:36
Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I was gonna say someone at ESPN or no it's Yahoo hates the Packer or the Packers just have the wildest ADPs right now, because yeah, Golden is wide receiver. Fifty five, where you know he might be a bust, who the hell knows, but I would take him there because he's the kind of wide receiver I like to just have on my bench because if he breaks out this year, actually have a league winning wide receiver that you got super late. If he sucks, well, no, pretty early on if you know he's a bust again this year, and you could just cut bait pick somebody else up. But I think he's like an excellent guy to stash if you can get him that late in drafts. And the same goes with Christian Watson actually on ESPN because he's going let me see where this falls within the position, but he's going wide receiver thirty six on ESPN, so a little bit cheaper than I have him ranked. But similar guy where he has a ton of upside, going ninetieth overall, thirty sixth at the position. But let me tell you one guy that I think you're pretty high on that you can get super cheap on ESPN. I think this is an ESPN specific target. Brian Thomas Junior is going wide receiver thirty nine on one hundred and sixth overall. Say what you want about Brian Thomas Junior had a very disappointing, you know follow up to his amazing rookie season. It's really tricky projecting the wide receivers right now if I'm being honest, but wide receiver thirty nine that is definitely the range I would be willing to kind of roll the dice on BTJ and he would he would be my wide receiver four or five at that point in the draft anyway, So he's probably starting the season on my betch. But if he turns into you know, the stud we saw his rookie season, now I have set start decisions I gotta make, which is a good thing to have. So ESPN is the site where if you like BTJ, that's the site. I think you can get him pretty cheap.
00:21:46
Speaker 2: And I like BTG. I love BTJ and best Ball. I'm still taking him in the sixties and best Ball because I think in weeks you're not. It's so tough with some of these boombust wide receivers like a DK, Brian Thomas Junior, Christian Watson at times. So he's weird, but like he was really good and consistent last year, but typically it's pretty boom bust and with his injuries, so you just never know. But yeah, BTJ in the hundreds, absolutely count me in. In a redraft head to head format where I have to, like I have to choose to start him, I'm happy to do it. Half PPR, full PPR doesn't really matter. Yes, Parker Washington look better in the second look way better in the second half of last year. But his price is shooting up. He's going in the fourth to fifth round in high stakes formats. That is just crazy to me. Yeah, Brian Thomas Junior, I'd definitely take on ESPN at one hundred range. And now moving on to a tight end you did not love and on Yahoo you have every reason not to love. He's going at fifty ninth overall, but eighty seventh overall on ESPN tight end nine, which I would gladly take him at tight end nine. The fifty nine overall, you're totally out on right.
00:22:56
Speaker 1: Yeah, So I mean he's going tight end five, the fifty ninth overall on Yahoo. If Tucker Craft finishes the top three tight end, I'd be the least shocked person in the entire universe. But I'm not going to spend that early draft capital on a tight end once again, once we get outside the top four, I'm usually punting and just going to the wavewire. And again, I think there was a league I added Tucker Craft early in the season last year, so there's gonna be plenty of guys that pop up. However, on ESPN, he is going tight end nine eighty seventh overall, So he's probably not going to fall to you and tight end nine in every draft, but that's where he's going just based on the rankings. If he falls to tight end nine, I will probably be taking him because that's that's late enough where he has you know, he has top five upside. That's late enough. I'm willing to spend the draft capital on him and see how he is early in the season, kind of like be patient because he might not be fully healthy. Tight End nine, absolutely sign me up for that. But that's another thing where, ending on the site you're drafting on, that's a you know, almost a thirty rank gap overall, where just just based on their ranks, people are kind of drafting closer to them. So if you're on ESPN, you might see Tucker Craft fall to a range where I think it makes perfect sense to take him. So that's another player, another Packers player. Again, it seems like the Packers both sites are kind of like torn where they're ranking them. But maybe it's a Volattle team to project. But yeah, I think Tucker Craft's a guy depending on site, I'm either enter out going in.
00:24:37
Speaker 2: Yeah, No, I'm with you on the top sixty price that is it is a pretty penny not gonna spend. But again, tight End nine eighty seventh overall, a guy who was tightened one overall for in the first eight weeks of the season before he got hurt in week nine. Was discussed this on the tight End episode recently that you guys should check out now why not again, like we were talking about with Golden Dubes and Wicks are gone, this target off this offense is so much more consolidated.
00:25:08
Speaker 1: Now.
00:25:09
Speaker 2: I'm definitely in as we get closer to pick one hundred because you know, tight End not to say it's a Craft shoot, but if you don't get the top couple, it's like there's only so much upside you could find, and Craft clearly has the upside that we've seen. Yes, the ACL is not great, but if you take him and maybe don't trust him early in the season, take a Jawan Johnson like we've discussed, take even like Dalton kin Ka to try to like start early. I think Kraft can be a guy in the middle to the second half of the season that could really, really pop. And that's it for us today. We'll be back soon with more here on Fantasy Flex.
