Ty The Pod Guy: [00:00:00] I don't even know we're lit. Hold on. Hold on. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. We're lit. Hold on. Wait a minute. Wait a minute.
Are we in the building? I think we're.
Live from the 2 1 5. We in Philly with it. What's going on everybody? And welcome, welcome, welcome to another edition, another installment, a bonus episode. You feel what I'm saying of the Devotes World Podcast with your boy, uh, Ty The Pod Guy. I'm all over the place right now. You feel what I'm saying? But welcome to a bonus episode.
Um, we are here again. Welcome, welcome, welcome again. You feel what I'm saying? Back in the building for another. and, um, good bonus episode today. We are live from Philly. Um, excuse the camera quality. We are using my MacBook camera right now cuz um, I obviously didn't bring all [00:01:00] the necessary Yeah. No camera equipment.
But next time you feel what I'm saying. Uh, we are here in Philly because of the Afros and Audios podcast festival, the fourth annual Afros and Audios podcast festival. And let me just say this off the bat. We just have to give the Afros and Audio's podcast festival around of applause (applause sound) .
Shout out to them. Shout out to the entire team to live. Everybody that works, that worked tirelessly on this event. It was amazing. This festival was great. We'll get more, uh, probably into that, um, later in the. Uh, we'll talk about it and everything like that, you know, some of the recaps that I came more way with, but, you know, guys, it's first time in Philly, right?
And first of all, before we even get into everything, good morning, good evening, good afternoon to everybody listening and watching. Make sure that if you [00:02:00] are watching, be sure to share, like, comment and subscribe to the video. If you're listening to us, please subscribe wherever you are listening to us.
That may be the ihearts, the spot. You know, not the spiders, the Spotifys, right? . It may be the, um, Apple Podcasts, you know, Google Podcasts, all of those, all of that jazz. So be sure to follow, be sure to tap in and everything like that. So, again, it's not gonna be a long show, but it's going to be a very interesting show.
You feel what I'm saying? Because we have a lot, um, we have a, we have some things to get into. So this is my first time coming to Philly and, uh, You know, I'm only literally a train right away from Philly, right? The train I took the Amtrak. The Amtrak, didn't it? It literally took me maybe about an hour and a half, and from where I'm living in New York to get in maybe to the other side of Brooklyn or Manhattan, it already takes [00:03:00] me an hour to get, you know, two downtown New York.
So this was nothing, right? And so I'm like, Oh, okay. We. From here to here, It's another city. You know what I'm saying? Cause I do that now. Right? Being in a, being in New York, I can go from the Bronx to Brooklyn in about an hour. So it's, it's nothing. Right? So, you know, we get to Philly. Philly's amazing, Right?
I'm in downtown, I believe I'm in this. Don't get me the line, but I believe I'm on the south side of Philly because there's South Side Pizzeria right across the street from me. Shout out to them and, uh, they're good food. Um, but you know, I had some of my podcast homies shout out to our collective, you know, C4 collective.
Um, I had some in my podcasts homies. I was like, Yo, you gotta try Gino's or you gotta try Pats one or the other. You feel me? Tell me which, You know what I'm saying? It's slapping, right? So I'm like, alright, cool. You know, Friday I come in, meet up with the [00:04:00] pod homies. You know what I'm saying? We got the mixer with afros and audio.
So after the mixer where, where we're going to see what the move is. I'm a little lit right out. Done drunk a lot. You know what I'm saying? I'm feeling myself, you know what I'm saying? I got a bottle of jack honey. You know what I'm saying? I'm feeling myself. Few drinks out the bo. I'm feeling myself okay, dancing in the street.
I'm like, I'm in Philadelphia, bro. Like this is amazing. I'm blessed, you feel me? To absorb all this great knowledge. I'm ready to get it cracking. Ready to get it popping. Go get back to the crib right now. Again, I'm drunk. Okay? I'm a little lit, right? So at this point in time, it's maybe like 12:30, 1 o'clock.
There's nothing really. Right. Especially where I was stationed with my Airbnb. Everything was closed. I felt like I was back in Allendale or Grand Rapids for real. I was like, Damn, everything is closed. Even the pizzeria that's right across the street [00:05:00] was closed. And I was like, Shit. All I wanted was some wings and some pizza.
So again, my boy hype, shout out to. , Mr. Philly. You feel what I'm saying? International Man of Philly, You feel what I'm saying? We meet up with him. I'm meeting up with Q uh, host of the EBL Radio Network. Uh, shout to him in the Wake N' Bake Show. Uh, we meet up, we all kick it and everything like that. And you know, I'm telling him like, Yo, I think, you know, people told me to try the Genos or Pats.
Now again, this man sat here and said straight to my face. Ty, Do not sit here. Okay. Then this was before I got lit and everything. He said, Ty, don't sit here. Okay? So don't sit here and go to Geno's. If you're going to do anything, go to Pats. Right. But he was like, I don't even recommend Pats like that. Right?
And so he, but he was like, Don't go to Geno's now I'm going to, [00:06:00] No, I'm not gonna do it cuz it's in the trash. So I'm not , I'm not gonna do it. Um, I'm not gonna embarrass them as much as I'm about to embarrass them anyway. . Anyway. Uh, so I get, I, I, obviously, I'm not walking to Geno's. Of course not. That's on ninth Street that I'm on 20th.
It ain't, it ain't happening. So, order it from Uber Eats. Right. Okay. No problem. And, um, we order from Uber Eats and I get the just a regular cheese steak with fries. Right. I don't to, for me, I don't need not much. I just need something to soak up all of this alcohol that is in my stomach. Right? I have a lot of dark liquor in me.
I got Evan Williams in me, I got Jack Daniels, you know what I'm saying? I got this whiskey that bourbon, like dark liquor is swarming through my system. So I need something to soak this up. So as soon as the food get here, I'm munching on the fries. The fries is slapping. You feel me? Like, I don't know what it was about the fries, but the fries is banging.
I get to the motherfucking sandwich cuz that's what we here [00:07:00] for. That is what we're here for. We're not here for no fucking fries. We're here for the fucking sandwich.
UH. Mm mm mm. Trash. One more time. Trash. Mm. One more time for the people in the back. Trash. Mm mm mm I got a cheese steak. Now I don't do cheese whizz. I never do cheese whizz on a cheese steak. I don't give a damn what you tell me. I'm not putting cheese whiz on my cheese steak. Why Ty? I mean, that's such a staple though.
No, for what? Cheese whizz goes on fucking nachos. And even in that, it is the most disgusting cheese on fucking planet Earth. It is nasty. That melted cheese, whizz cheese is literally artificial. It's literally government cheese melted. No, I'm not eating that shit, so [00:08:00] I'm like, just gimme some Provolone, little onion, little mayo now in my mind.
I'm thinking this is going to be all like, I'm, I'm looking for the bag to be greasy. Okay. I'm looking for the bag to have some type of color. I'm looking for the, I'm looking for the sandwich to literally drip. I'm looking for myself to pick up this sandwich and literally how to drip it, you know, come down my hand.
The sandwich was, uh, dried in the Sahara Desert Trash. I took two bites. And it tasted like plastic, trash, plastic. Do you understand what I'm saying? P last ic part. Okay. Tasted like plastic. I only ate two bites and I said I can't do this, so I tried to eat the fries, so, Alright, wake up Saturday morning.
Saturday morning is the day of, the first day of the festival. Cool. [00:09:00] You know, I wake up early trying to, you know, trying to get a good start and I know that I still have a little alcohol in me and I have to throw up, I have to go to the bathroom. Okay, no problem. So I throw up the alcohol that's in me, no problem.
Cool. Bet we good. Go back, lay down. You know that good feeling when you done threw up that alcohol, you like Yeah, I felt great. Ah, I just need some food. I didn't get that. I got an initial, like, who, But then something else was about to come and I said, Wait a minute. Okay. Once I twice, Okay, now three times or more.
Now you gotta, now you, now, now something's happening from, and I'm, and I'm being so honest with y'all from five, about five or six in the morning until at least 12 o'clock noon, I could not hold anything down. Water? Nope. [00:10:00] Gatorade? Nope. Food? Nope. And I'm sitting here shaking, cold, sweats, my hair coming out, like everything is happening and I'm like, What the fuck is going on with my body?
And so I'm repeating everything that I ate in my head. Okay? I went to the mixer. I had a few Wang Dangs. The Wing dings ain't too bad, you understand what I'm saying? I don't think the wing dings was undercooked because they were really fried hard, and so I'm like, Nah, it wasn't that. I looked over in that trash can and like looked over.
It was Geno's. It was fucking genos. First of all, let me just tell y'all how they did this sandwich. Cause I looked at it, the onions were so fucking big. The cheese, I, I, [00:11:00] I don't even know where the fucking cheese was. And if it was on there, it was dry as fuck. You then give me an, excuse my language when I say this.
Excuse my language, when I. I'm sorry to women who have these, um, there's no disrespect. I wanna preference this by saying, but when I seen that meat, it looked like fat ass pussy lips. I'm sorry, you didn't even chop that meat up, bro. You did not chop that meat up, bro. You gave me a Steakem. Trash. You gave me a Steakem.
And then, you know what pissed me off? I'm a southern boy. I like mail. My sandwiches usually are, are damn near like wet. You feel what I'm saying? Like, I, I want that bitch to be, I don't wanna say sopped up in dressing, [00:12:00] but you better make my shit at least downable and not dry as fuck to where I gotta sit here and start you coughing and shit and you dying.
I don't need that. I don't need that. You gave me craft mayo? Trash. Is that what you did? First of all, you didn't even put no mayo on this shit. You didn't even put nothing. Meat, cheese, and onions, and the bread was still as far tough. Are you serious? This is what you serving to your co. I hope not, but just know Genos this and where they picture at.
Cause I got 'em up here too. Hold up. See, this is, this is, this is the long line for Genos' steak. P uh uh uh a hoogie. Huh?
Are y'all really niggas giving out niggas food poison out here in these street? Cause you did it with, [00:13:00] I couldn't keep nothing down. Gatorade? Nope. Water? Nope. Food? Nope. I was like, I have food poisoning. They gave me food poisoning. Literally you gave me food poisoning. Your food is not good. I need y'all to check that shit.
The meat obviously wasn't good. The cheese obviously wasn't good and y'all are sitting here serving that to people? Nah, I ain't trying to be funny, but I'm like nigga what? Like my boys was like, Damn, are you good? Like, people was checking on me, my girl checking on me, my pod homies checking on me, you know like all my pod family checking a shower to everybody that checked on me.
Like I I I appreciate y'all cuz for a minute I didn't know what the fuck was going on. And for a minute if it wasn't for this selzer this what? The Alka selzer pack. Hold up, hold up, hold up, hold on. Cause I can't find the ace pack. How? I'm gonna find this little motherfucker. It's over here by my little stand of shit.
But literally had the alka selzer pack [00:14:00] and took that died for hour and came back to life and even made the tail end of the conference. Like that's how mad I was not to go to the conference, like I'm sitting here watching it. You know, on the whova app, and I'm sitting here like, Man, I can't get the fuck out of bed.
I can't hold no fucking liquids. I can't hold no shit. Well, ain't this great to be fucking in Philly for the first time and I get fucking food poisoned. Trash. I said, First time for everything. So if you ask me about Genos, I'm going to tell you I got food poisoning. Eat at your own risk. And now it's like, for me, I'm the type of nigga, like, I'm so scared to eat a cheese steak out here, bro.
That just, that just put us, and it put a sour taste in my mouth and rightfully so. It put us. Now, of course, I, I blame myself. I had to laugh at it. It's, [00:15:00] you know, it's me. God had to have me suffer, but at the same time mm-hmm mm. You shouldn't be serving that to customer trash. Not steakem's them and not they dry and not you melt, not you not melting cheese, not you not sitting here doing what you need to do.
Like I've had a better cheese steak from fucking Jimmy John's, Subway, Firehouse, Subs, quiz knows . Like what? Local spots, Like what are you talking about? So I was just, I was very upset. It messed up kind of my cheese steak experience that I wanted to have here. Um, maybe when I come back again in Philly, I'll have the, um, you know, I'll have a little bit more sympathy and grace for Philly when I get back when it comes to their cheese steaks.
But let me just tell you right now, it ain't happening right now. Y'all niggas gave me food [00:16:00]poisoning. That ain't happening. But, uh, I'm not, and I'm not talking about all a Philly right, But Genos for real, everybody. Your old head start like people, people like, what? You got food poisoning? They were so good.
But then they were like, well no, that was like 10, 12 years ago of nigga trash. Don't be telling me about what happened about Geno's 10, 12 years ago. It's nigga is 2022. Obviously this shit ain't good no more, My God. But you know what, uh, before we get , shout out to Geno's for real. But y'all just make sure y'all know what the fuck y'all.
And, um, you know, make sure they cook that shit right. You feel what I'm saying? Like, well done meet and chopped that shit up. Don't get no fucking steakem. I'm out here. Um, , I do wanna recap the amazing, uh, afros of audio's podcast festival that happened this weekend. Um, it was amazing, the fourth annual. I can't wait for the fifth.[00:17:00]
And it's funny because the first annual I was supposed to go, that didn't happen. The second annual I couldn't make it, or no, the second annual I was actually there and I moderated. And as I told y'all before, um, I felt like I didn't do, you know, that great of a job. Um, you know, I did okay. Uh, I didn't go this third year, but this year I was like, I'll have to come, you know, and, uh, to be a moderator and a speaker, um, to be with some dope individuals, uh, from, uh, Q Lewis, you know, host of the Wake N Bake Show and creator of the E Block Radio, Uh, Radio, Radio network.
Uh, Larry Robinson, who is the ceo, creative director and founder of Kudzukian. And, um, which is, uh, pretty much one of the largest, if not the largest, um, independent network. Uh, independent podcast networks in the Memphis area and serves the whole entire country. And then my girl, my homie [00:18:00] Scorpion, who continues to be.
You know, just one of the most dynamic independent podcasters starting her own network as well. Um, it was just amazing to sit down and have this conversation and to gain so much knowledge. My notebook, I have so many cards, I have so many notebooks, I have so much to do when I get back to New York. Um, the contact and, and again, um, I am so thankful.
For these sessions, for these conferences because it reminds you that you know what you're doing, what you need to do and we are collaborating as black people. You know what I'm saying? And listen, I got some great advice this, this today. Like one of them was like, Listen, stop telling us. As black folks, we're not collaborating.
Maybe it's the people that you're hanging around. You feel what I'm saying? And I was really spoke to today, like real talk. It. I was really, I, I'm full just after [00:19:00] one day, a day and a half, I'm full. I'm full with knowledge, I'm full with relationships. I'm full with, um, like every, like knowledge beyond my wildest dreams.
There's so many things that I've tapped into just in. Time that I was with Afros and audios that I'm like, Oh my God, I didn't know this. I didn't know this. I didn't know this. I didn't know you lived close. Didn't know you lived close, didn't know you lived close. Oh my God, you're here. You're here. Oh wow.
We have to connect. And then sometimes you feel as though you're not as, You don't need to be in the space that you need to, but then you remind yourself, and others remind you too, that you are right where you need to be. You understand what I'm saying? Shout out to Crystal. I have to give her this, this, this.
Shout out real quick because she literally said on her talk, on her panel, she was like, It's a lot of people who think that when you make it to the top, like you, you just was at the top. No, [00:20:00]you had to grind, you had to work. You had to work those extra jobs to get, you know, to do what you needed to do, to do, um, what you love to do.
You feel what I'm saying? And so to any of my podcasters and creatives, That are feeling. As though they need a JO or Boost. Come to the Afros and Audios podcast festival. Man. It is lit. It is for us by us. Curated by us. You feel what I'm saying? Like we bty black up in that thing like it was lit. And not only are we bty black in that thing, we are.
MAD professionals in that thing. And oh my God, I got to meet one of my podcasts heroes.
Oh my God. I got to meet one of my podcast heroes, podcast celebrity, um, in Barry from pods, uh, pos and Color Color. Um, she is literally podcast royalty. Do you hear what I'm saying? [00:21:00]Um, Barry is the creative director and founder of Posing Color, which is literally a. Uh, literally podcast directory for all things black podcasts.
It does not matter which genre you are. It does not matter which podcast you do, if you submit your podcast to Barry, in which she literally gets back to you in, in quick enough time. Boom. And I remember, and I told her, I said, when I started podcasting with the Opinionated Brother podcast. You were the first directory for real that I found out and that I have used and you have been so instrumental in my podcast.
Success. So meeting her was everything. Do you understand what I'm saying? Meeting so many dope creatives, individuals, professionals, right? Who still got mass swag. Swag [00:22:00] on. You feel what I'm saying? It was dope. It was really, really dope. And I cannot wait to connect with, um, all of the people that I've connected with.
You feel what I'm saying, To hopefully make some, some deals happen, to hopefully collaborate more with them. You feel what I'm saying? And, and really dive deep into this. You feel me? I felt like God was really telling me to come here and I really got full. And I'm really blessed. And so, um, sky's the limit.
Now, I was only up from here. You feel what I'm saying? Um, shout out. You feel me? This is my second time speaking at a conference. First time being in person at a conference.
