2 Chronicles 19 explained. King Jehoshaphat returns from battle and begins reforming Judah, calling the people to seek God and practise justice.
The prophet Jehu rebukes Jehoshaphat for helping wicked King Ahab, reminding him that God opposes evil. Yet Jehoshaphat is also commended for removing idols and setting his heart to seek the Lord.
Jehoshaphat travels throughout Judah, encouraging the people to return to God. He appoints judges and instructs them to judge fairly, reject bribery, and remember that they serve the Lord rather than merely human authorities.
2 Chronicles 19 highlights repentance, justice, integrity, and accountability before God. Jehoshaphat's reforms remind us that faithful leadership requires both devotion to God and fairness toward others.
Ultimately, these principles point toward Jesus Christ, the perfectly righteous King and Judge, who rules with truth and justice.
