Welcome back to the podcast, its been a minute
Before standing atop the European triathlon podium, Ross McGregor was tearing up beaches in the high-adrenaline world of sand racing. Triathlon wasn’t anywhere on his radar—until a tragic loss prompted him to enter his very first event for charity.
That single race transformed his life. Ross traded horse-power and throttle for pedal power and human endurance, hanging up his sand-racing boots and never looking back at a motorbike again.
In this powerful episode, the 35–39 Great Britain Age-Group European Champion shares how he redirected his competitive grit from the sand tracks to the triathlon circuit. He opens up about turning personal tragedy into elite purpose, breaking down the exact mindset, training consistency, and race-day tactics that carried him all the way to European Gold.
In this episode, we cover:
- The Shift from Sand to Asphalt: Transitioning from high-octane sand racing to endurance sport following a life-altering tragedy.
- The Origin Spark: How one charity triathlon set off a journey to the top of European age-group racing.
- The Champion's Mindset: Transferring raw competitive drive into swim, bike, and run mastery.
- Podium Execution: Actionable advice on training volume, pacing strategy, and mental toughness for age-groupers.
