00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:02.000
Hi, I'm Matt from Machine Girl.
00:00:02.080 --> 00:00:03.359
I'm Lucy from Machine Girl.
00:00:03.439 --> 00:00:04.719
I'm Sean from Machine Girl.
00:00:04.799 --> 00:00:06.639
And this is Ido from Machine Girl.
00:00:06.799 --> 00:00:08.720
And this is what's in our bag.
00:00:21.839 --> 00:00:28.879
Picked out this uh Scritty Polity single for their tracks uh Woodbees in Absolute.
00:00:36.719 --> 00:00:45.920
The record that this is off of, which the name escapes me currently, but it's an incredible 80s pop record that I got into.
00:00:46.240 --> 00:00:53.359
Well, Lucy actually showed me it last year for the first time, and it was definitely like one of my musical obsessions.
00:00:58.079 --> 00:01:01.039
I got off my head where you can make a job.
00:01:02.240 --> 00:01:07.840
Wipe out the video game soundtrack from the PlayStation 1.
00:01:12.400 --> 00:01:19.120
This is actually the original soundtrack by the video game composer, not the other tracks from the game.
00:01:19.200 --> 00:01:27.840
But the game is famously featured in Hackers, which is one of my favorite movies of all time, early Angelina Jolie.
00:01:38.079 --> 00:01:47.040
But yeah, having this soundtrack, iconic soundtrack, very cool to find on CD, and I think it just came out uh like last year.
00:01:54.079 --> 00:01:55.040
Negative Land.
00:01:55.120 --> 00:01:57.359
It's an album I never heard of before by them.
00:01:57.680 --> 00:02:03.359
But if you don't know Negative Land, it's kind of like punk sound collage is like the best way I could describe it.
00:02:03.760 --> 00:02:04.560
Plunderphonics.
00:02:04.799 --> 00:02:07.280
Plunderphonics, but punctufied, I guess.
00:02:07.439 --> 00:02:14.000
They've had some like controversial albums there, they kind of tease copyright laws and definitely check out Negative Land.
00:02:14.159 --> 00:02:18.879
Boomer 1 to Boomer 2, standing by on Q1, two five-inch flag shells.
00:02:19.199 --> 00:02:20.639
Okay from the first two.
00:02:20.879 --> 00:02:21.439
Iron one.
00:02:23.599 --> 00:02:25.360
Bombs bursting in air.
00:02:26.000 --> 00:02:32.879
So I picked out this record by another kind of 80s pop uh like RB group called the System.
00:02:33.360 --> 00:02:38.960
Don't stop the music, cause it might bring me down the pledge of seekers.
00:02:39.520 --> 00:02:41.520
We need a discreet night show.
00:02:41.840 --> 00:02:43.120
They're very underrated.
00:02:43.280 --> 00:02:56.159
Um, in particular, there's this track, Don't Disturb This Groove, that like years ago, the first time I heard it in a coffee shop, I like ran to the barista and was like, what the hell is this song?
00:03:04.800 --> 00:03:09.120
This record, truthfully I'm not super familiar with, but it was the only one I could find.
00:03:09.199 --> 00:03:10.560
I'm excited to check it out.
00:03:10.719 --> 00:03:16.879
This guy, David Frank, co-wrote and produced Genie in a Bottle by Christina Aguilera.
00:03:17.120 --> 00:03:24.080
And it's funny because yesterday we actually listened to it in the car, and I haven't listened to that song in like since I was like an adult.
00:03:24.319 --> 00:03:34.960
And it rips, and the production's incredible, and it's actually kind of cool how if you listen to this, the system, like his production and writing style, you hear it in that track.
00:03:42.960 --> 00:03:46.080
My next selection is Judas Priest.
00:03:46.400 --> 00:03:54.240
Kind of a switch up from the other picks, but the only thing better than Judas Priest is Judas Priest Live.
00:04:03.360 --> 00:04:06.639
So that's why I picked this right here live in 1987.
00:04:07.199 --> 00:04:10.400
All the hits, they fucking kick ass live.
00:04:10.560 --> 00:04:16.160
If you don't like Judas Priest, listen to Judas Priest live and watch that live footage.
00:04:16.240 --> 00:04:17.360
It's fucking iconic.
00:04:17.519 --> 00:04:20.800
Free will burning staple for me.
00:04:21.040 --> 00:04:22.399
Awesome live.
00:04:22.720 --> 00:04:28.399
Fucking Rob Halford comes out on stage on a motorcycle, so don't miss it.
00:04:38.720 --> 00:04:40.160
John Zor is a jazz musician.
00:04:40.240 --> 00:04:42.639
This is kind of like his metal band, I guess.
00:04:51.920 --> 00:04:55.600
Featuring uh one of my favorite artists on vocals, Kawataka High.
00:04:55.759 --> 00:04:58.639
It's outrageous punk metal jazz music.
00:04:58.879 --> 00:05:00.000
It's amazing.
00:05:07.600 --> 00:05:09.839
Shades of Blue by Mad Lib.
00:05:17.680 --> 00:05:18.879
It's a really great record.
00:05:18.959 --> 00:05:21.600
It's him just sampling their entire catalog.
00:05:21.759 --> 00:05:33.040
I discovered this because uh I used to have an internship and this guy asked me to like catalog all his CDs, and I just went through and burned all them onto my computer and then put them on my iPod at the time.
00:05:33.120 --> 00:05:35.040
This is a really chill, awesome record.
00:05:35.120 --> 00:05:38.879
I'm excited when I get off of tour and need to unwind.
00:05:39.120 --> 00:05:40.160
Listen to this.
00:05:58.800 --> 00:06:08.079
Very well-known record, honestly, at this point, but it came out when I was probably in eighth grade, like 2002, 2003.
00:06:08.480 --> 00:06:17.120
And this was kind of the first time I was introduced to any sort of like modern, psychedelic, progressive type music.
00:06:17.279 --> 00:06:20.560
Also being a fan of like At the Drive In and all their previous works.
00:06:20.720 --> 00:06:23.120
It's still a great record to go back to.
00:06:23.360 --> 00:06:24.480
So many layers.
00:06:24.639 --> 00:06:27.600
Very psychedelic, very inspirational for me.
00:06:35.360 --> 00:06:36.480
I picked a Philip K.
00:06:36.639 --> 00:06:38.240
Dick book, A Scanner Darkly.
00:06:38.480 --> 00:06:39.120
I love Philip K.
00:06:39.279 --> 00:06:51.199
Dick, and this is my one of my favorite ones, but it is kind of like sort of the most depressing one because a lot of dialogue is based off of like his conversations he had with his own friends who died of like drug overdoses in the 70s.
00:06:51.360 --> 00:06:55.600
It's an interesting take on like the drug war and counterculture paranoia.
00:06:56.000 --> 00:06:56.639
That's really good.
00:06:57.040 --> 00:07:00.959
You will, because when he slaps the cop's eye, I think you'll know for sure when that day comes out.
00:07:01.279 --> 00:07:02.639
How could a guy do that?
00:07:03.120 --> 00:07:04.319
Pose is a narc.
00:07:05.199 --> 00:07:05.680
What?
00:07:07.360 --> 00:07:08.560
Pose is a narc.
00:07:09.120 --> 00:07:10.399
I got the holy mountain.
00:07:10.639 --> 00:07:12.800
We have psychedelic shotguns.
00:07:15.120 --> 00:07:19.759
Grenade necklaces, rock and roll weapons.
00:07:21.279 --> 00:07:22.480
Total classic.
00:07:22.639 --> 00:07:39.439
I want it because I'm trying to build up my Blu-ray collection so I don't have to rely on like streaming and stuff to when I'm in the mood to, you know, go to another place and get reach a higher level of consciousness through watching movies.
00:07:44.480 --> 00:07:46.639
I'm a huge Joe Dorowski fan.
00:07:46.800 --> 00:07:54.319
Uh everything from like El Topo to this to his comics and Santa Sangre, which I was hoping you guys had.
00:08:07.040 --> 00:08:11.759
But this is still an incredible one-of-a-kind piece of art.
00:08:20.160 --> 00:08:35.519
I came across this ocean dreams compilation in the New Age section, and it has a lot of cool imagery on it, which caught my eye, and it says Parent's Choice Award winner.
00:08:35.840 --> 00:08:38.879
This recording causes a heightened state of peacefulness.
00:08:39.120 --> 00:08:43.120
Music includes the earth resonance frequency for deeper relaxation.
00:08:43.519 --> 00:08:45.039
Please do not use while driving.
00:08:45.120 --> 00:08:47.200
I'm really looking forward to listening to this.
00:08:47.360 --> 00:08:49.919
Um, I won't be driving.
00:08:50.000 --> 00:08:51.360
I'll listen to it on the bus.
00:08:58.879 --> 00:09:00.799
I chose a killer, a John Woo.
00:09:00.960 --> 00:09:02.159
This movie's badass.
00:09:11.039 --> 00:09:21.919
The best part about this movie, honestly, is the sort of like the real like it's there is a love story in it with this like blind woman that falls in love with the criminal.
00:09:22.080 --> 00:09:33.759
But the real love story seems to be between the criminal and the cop that have to like work together in the movie, and there is this sort of like hidden homoerotic overtone to it that just kind of adds to the action.
00:09:34.000 --> 00:09:35.200
It's classic.
00:09:41.840 --> 00:09:48.320
Pick this Mark Garson record, and like people probably know him because of the Plantasia record.
00:09:51.360 --> 00:09:56.480
Mother Earth Plantasia or Earth music from plants and the people who love them.
00:09:56.639 --> 00:10:06.720
All his music's incredible, it's like amazing early synth stuff, and I love that he was super into the occult and all this like weird esoteric stuff.
00:10:06.879 --> 00:10:12.960
He has that great astrology record, and uh this one's really cool too.
00:10:13.120 --> 00:10:24.639
It's like creepy synth sounds dealing with again all different kinds of esoteric new age uh you know occult uh concepts.
00:10:33.120 --> 00:10:34.879
So this was my last pick.
00:10:35.039 --> 00:10:36.399
I saved the best for last.
00:10:36.879 --> 00:10:42.559
Death, the sound of perseverance, their final studio record, R.I.P.
00:10:42.720 --> 00:10:43.279
Chuck.
00:10:43.679 --> 00:10:48.320
I'm from Florida and I spent a lot of time in Central Florida.
00:10:48.639 --> 00:11:02.399
So this band is very important to a lot of people there, and just such an important band in terms of metal music uh and the direction that it, you know, kicked off in the early 90s, that whole Florida scene.
00:11:02.559 --> 00:11:08.960
This is probably my favorite of theirs, controversial opinion, but uh I just love how it sounds.
00:11:09.200 --> 00:11:17.200
It's more sleek than a lot of the other records, and it's unfortunate that you know that was kind of it from them after Chuck passed away.
00:11:17.440 --> 00:11:24.000
So uh at least we're left with fucking incredible music that still stands the test of time.
00:11:33.519 --> 00:11:49.120
An Apex Twin single of Digeridoo, which is like one of the first Apex Twin songs I really loved, which apparently Apex Twin was involved in these parties that were being ruined by like hippie wook jugglers or something.
00:11:49.200 --> 00:11:55.039
So he wrote this song to like make them dance so hard they would like leave early or something.
00:11:55.120 --> 00:12:00.480
Like he wanted to write something like for them, you know, to like make sure they didn't like ruin the party they were throwing.
00:12:00.639 --> 00:12:01.360
It's crazy.
00:12:01.519 --> 00:12:02.240
Check it out.
00:12:10.320 --> 00:12:12.240
Thank you all for doing early today.
00:12:13.200 --> 00:12:14.000
Yeah, that was fun.
00:12:14.159 --> 00:12:14.960
Yeah, it's insane.
00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:02.000
Hi, I'm Matt from Machine Girl.
00:00:02.080 --> 00:00:03.359
I'm Lucy from Machine Girl.
00:00:03.439 --> 00:00:04.719
I'm Sean from Machine Girl.
00:00:04.799 --> 00:00:06.639
And this is Ido from Machine Girl.
00:00:06.799 --> 00:00:08.720

Very psychedelic, very inspirational for me.
00:06:35.360 --> 00:06:36.480
I picked a Philip K.
00:06:36.639 --> 00:06:38.240
Dick book, A Scanner Darkly.
00:06:38.480 --> 00:06:39.120
I love Philip K.
00:06:39.279 --> 00:06:51.199
Dick, and this is my one of my favorite ones, but it is kind of like sort of the most depressing one because a lot of dialogue is based off of like his conversations he had with his own friends who died of like drug overdoses in the 70s.
00:06:51.360 --> 00:06:55.600
It's an interesting take on like the drug war and counterculture paranoia.
00:06:56.000 --> 00:06:56.639
That's really good.
00:06:57.040 --> 00:07:00.959
You will, because when he slaps the cop's eye, I think you'll know for sure when that day comes out.
00:07:01.279 --> 00:07:02.639
How could a guy do that?
00:07:03.120 --> 00:07:04.319
Pose is a narc.
00:07:05.199 --> 00:07:05.680
What?
00:07:07.360 --> 00:07:08.560
Pose is a narc.
00:07:09.120 --> 00:07:10.399
I got the holy mountain.
00:07:10.639 --> 00:07:12.800
We have psychedelic shotguns.
00:07:15.120 --> 00:07:19.759
Grenade necklaces, rock and roll weapons.
00:07:21.279 --> 00:07:22.480
Total classic.
00:07:22.639 --> 00:07:39.439
I want it because I'm trying to build up my Blu-ray collection so I don't have to rely on like streaming and stuff to when I'm in the mood to, you know, go to another place and get reach a higher level of consciousness through watching movies.
00:07:44.480 --> 00:07:46.639
I'm a huge Joe Dorowski fan.
00:07:46.800 --> 00:07:54.319
Uh everything from like El Topo to this to his comics and Santa Sangre, which I was hoping you guys had.
00:08:07.040 --> 00:08:11.759
But this is still an incredible one-of-a-kind piece of art.
00:08:20.160 --> 00:08:35.519
I came across this ocean dreams compilation in the New Age section, and it has a lot of cool imagery on it, which caught my eye, and it says Parent's Choice Award winner.
00:08:35.840 --> 00:08:38.879
This recording causes a heightened state of peacefulness.
00:08:39.120 --> 00:08:43.120
Music includes the earth resonance frequency for deeper relaxation.
00:08:43.519 --> 00:08:45.039
Please do not use while driving.
00:08:45.120 --> 00:08:47.200
I'm really looking forward to listening to this.
00:08:47.360 --> 00:08:49.919
Um, I won't be driving.
00:08:50.000 --> 00:08:51.360
I'll listen to it on the bus.
00:08:58.879 --> 00:09:00.799
I chose a killer, a John Woo.
00:09:00.960 --> 00:09:02.159
This movie's badass.
00:09:11.039 --> 00:09:21.919
The best part about this movie, honestly, is the sort of like the real like it's there is a love story in it with this like blind woman that falls in love with the criminal.
00:09:22.080 --> 00:09:33.759
But the real love story seems to be between the criminal and the cop that have to like work together in the movie, and there is this sort of like hidden homoerotic overtone to it that just kind of adds to the action.
00:09:34.000 --> 00:09:35.200
It's classic.
00:09:41.840 --> 00:09:48.320
Pick this Mark Garson record, and like people probably know him because of the Plantasia record.
00:09:51.360 --> 00:09:56.480
Mother Earth Plantasia or Earth music from plants and the people who love them.
00:09:56.639 --> 00:10:06.720
All his music's incredible, it's like amazing early synth stuff, and I love that he was super into the occult and all this like weird esoteric stuff.
00:10:06.879 --> 00:10:12.960
He has that great astrology record, and uh this one's really cool too.
00:10:13.120 --> 00:10:24.639
It's like creepy synth sounds dealing with again all different kinds of esoteric new age uh you know occult uh concepts.
00:10:33.120 --> 00:10:34.879
So this was my last pick.
00:10:35.039 --> 00:10:36.399
I saved the best for last.
00:10:36.879 --> 00:10:42.559
Death, the sound of perseverance, their final studio record, R.I.P.
00:10:42.720 --> 00:10:43.279
Chuck.
00:10:43.679 --> 00:10:48.320
I'm from Florida and I spent a lot of time in Central Florida.
00:10:48.639 --> 00:11:02.399
So this band is very important to a lot of people there, and just such an important band in terms of metal music uh and the direction that it, you know, kicked off in the early 90s, that whole Florida scene.
00:11:02.559 --> 00:11:08.960
This is probably my favorite of theirs, controversial opinion, but uh I just love how it sounds.
00:11:09.200 --> 00:11:17.200
It's more sleek than a lot of the other records, and it's unfortunate that you know that was kind of it from them after Chuck passed away.
00:11:17.440 --> 00:11:24.000
So uh at least we're left with fucking incredible music that still stands the test of time.
00:11:33.519 --> 00:11:49.120
An Apex Twin single of Digeridoo, which is like one of the first Apex Twin songs I really loved, which apparently Apex Twin was involved in these parties that were being ruined by like hippie wook jugglers or something.
00:11:49.200 --> 00:11:55.039
So he wrote this song to like make them dance so hard they would like leave early or something.
00:11:55.120 --> 00:12:00.480
Like he wanted to write something like for them, you know, to like make sure they didn't like ruin the party they were throwing.
00:12:00.639 --> 00:12:01.360
It's crazy.
00:12:01.519 --> 00:12:02.240
Check it out.
00:12:10.320 --> 00:12:12.240
Thank you all for doing early today.
00:12:13.200 --> 00:12:14.000
Yeah, that was fun.
00:12:14.159 --> 00:12:14.960
Yeah, it's insane.
