com.
4
00:00:13,314.240362812 --> 00:00:14,544.240362812
And welcome back, everybody.
5
00:00:14,544.240362812 --> 00:00:23,494.240362812
I am joined again by the crowd favorite Wilfred Riley, the great man from Kentucky State University, political science professor and author of excellent books, lies.
6
00:00:23,514.240362812 --> 00:00:25,714.239362812
My liberal teacher told me being the most recent.
7
00:00:26,14.239362812 --> 00:00:27,214.239362812
I'm linking to that below.
8
00:00:27,224.239362812 --> 00:00:29,64.240362812
I recommend you click it, buy it, share it.
9
00:00:29,424.240362812 --> 00:00:30,974.239362812
And I wanted to have Dr.
10
00:00:30,974.239362812 --> 00:00:38,734.240362812
Riley on to talk about a number of things, namely, Where he thinks the Trump administration has been successful and where he thinks it hasn't been.
11
00:00:39,4.240362812 --> 00:00:43,394.240362812
What his view is on the American present and the immediate American future.
12
00:00:43,794.240362812 --> 00:00:48,484.240362812
And I'll start off by reading something from a real clear member.
13
00:00:48,974.240362812 --> 00:00:49,454.240362812
Dr.
14
00:00:49,454.240362812 --> 00:01:18,674.240362812
Mills writes, Trump's second term as a president has already proven to be even more polarizing and destabilizing than his first term, with his autocratic attack on constitutional rights, widespread dismantling of governmental agencies by subverting Congress, turning on his bordering neighbors and allies, stopping international aid, instituting global tariffs, threatening to annex Canada, Dr.
15
00:01:18,674.240362812 --> 00:01:31,244.240362812
Mills is Canadian, by the way, take Greenland, the Panama Canal, and the Gaza Strip through military force, if necessary, and generally turn a liberal democracy into a fascist state.
16
00:01:31,804.239362812 --> 00:01:34,529.240362812
Do you agree with the above statement? Dr.
17
00:01:34,529.240362812 --> 00:01:39,79.240362812
Reilly, why or why not? Well, not really.
18
00:01:39,79.240362812 --> 00:01:43,109.24036281
I mean, I think a lot of that stuff is obvious, almost funny puffery.
19
00:01:43,109.24036281 --> 00:01:44,229.24036281
So there are three levels here.
20
00:01:44,239.24036281 --> 00:01:49,879.24036281
First of all, um, I don't think that ultimate moral rules are real to some extent.
21
00:01:49,889.23936281 --> 00:01:55,539.23936281
I mean, I think that's a pretty standard view among social scientists who've looked at different societies over the centuries.
22
00:01:55,889.24036281 --> 00:02:03,849.24036281
So, I mean, I, I do think that a lot of people would admire a world leader who actually became a Julius Caesar sort of figure.
23
00:02:04,209.24036281 --> 00:02:11,339.24036281
Like, if Trump actually conquered Canada, took over Greenland, uh, made the Arab world into a series of U.
24
00:02:11,339.24036281 --> 00:02:11,529.24036281
S.
25
00:02:11,559.24036281 --> 00:02:21,289.24036281
vassal states where women had rights and oil was delivered here on an annual basis and, you know, all the rest of that, I'm not sure that would, uh, Stop me from voting for Trump.
26
00:02:21,289.24036281 --> 00:02:31,699.24036281
And I'm not sure people would be doing voting in that society, but I think the chances of that happening are literally 0 percent that that's kind of just New York trash talking.
27
00:02:32,159.24036281 --> 00:02:36,569.24036281
You know, uh, Trump did a lot of this before the, uh, the four nations hockey summit.
28
00:02:37,149.24036281 --> 00:02:37,489.23986281
Right.
29
00:02:37,489.23986281 --> 00:02:41,39.24036281
Where he wished the team good luck against our 51st state.
30
00:02:41,329.24036281 --> 00:02:47,129.24036281
Uh, Canada actually won that game, but I do think that a lot of people who haven't maybe competed in, uh.
31
00:02:47,764.24036281 --> 00:03:05,194.23936281
High school varsity or collegiate athletics or been in the military or listening to that and they're saying my my god, he's serious Uh, I don't I don't think that is that is entirely correct You know going on from that do I think that some of that stuff would be a good idea, you know In theory some of it would be interesting in practice.
32
00:03:05,194.23936281 --> 00:03:11,694.24036281
I mean, I assume the canadians would resist quite well You know, there's some speculation in political science that canada's a secret nuclear power.
33
00:03:11,694.24036281 --> 00:03:18,994.24036281
They have one of the world's better small militaries So I don't actually think we're going to go up there into the tundra and, uh, you know, fight them for a couple of years.
34
00:03:18,994.24036281 --> 00:03:21,24.24036281
That'd be very much like Russia and Ukraine, actually.
35
00:03:21,634.24036281 --> 00:03:26,714.24036281
But, um, in terms of a broader take on the Trump administration, I think we've seen two things.
36
00:03:28,84.23936281 --> 00:03:33,104.23986281
There, the first, and I actually have a take on Trump that's very different from a lot of people.
37
00:03:33,104.23986281 --> 00:03:40,294.24036281
I kind of agree with Ben Shapiro, the conservative commentator on this, where he'll openly say, like, I like quote, unquote, teleprompter Trump.
38
00:03:40,899.24036281 --> 00:03:55,519.14036281
Like, I like Trump when he has a speech written by someone when they're obviously people from AEI or Claremont behind the scenes that are helping him out when Vance is in the room and when he's this big, smart guy, but he's also got a political team with him.
39
00:03:55,799.24036281 --> 00:03:58,79.23986281
And I think a lot of people kind of disagree with that.
40
00:03:58,79.23986281 --> 00:04:02,929.24036281
And they say, you know, I like Trump to be freestyle and shouting and screaming at people and making deals.
41
00:04:02,969.24036281 --> 00:04:04,689.24036281
I actually don't like that at all.
42
00:04:05,849.24036281 --> 00:04:33,999.23936281
Yeah, no, I think, I think a lot of intelligent people would agree with the, the three of us, you know, it's the witch, uh, sorry, I had Jeffrey Tucker on recently, the economist from the Epoch Times, and when I had mentioned that, he had, uh, uh, the reaction that, well, he and I wouldn't like that because we're the cote bourgeois, as he said, and, uh, but that's not my reason, I think that, um, my reason is probably what yours is leading to be, which is it's an unnecessary destabilization for the populace.
43
00:04:35,939.24036281 --> 00:04:56,579.24036281
Yeah, and also I just think, I think the results are objectively better when you look at what, so I mean when, for me the best part of the Trump administration so far has been Trump just coming in with the 200 executive orders, where, I mean, if you want to talk about DEI, like he technically repealed, uh, Lyndon Baines Johnson's order that mandated affirmative action.
44
00:04:57,189.24036281 --> 00:04:59,239.24036281
Which was 5.
45
00:04:59,239.24036281 --> 00:05:14,669.24036281
And the way that EO 465 worked as someone who trained as a lawyer at a pretty good institution is that if you want to do business with the United States federal government, which as you know, every like fortune down through 4, 000 does.
46
00:05:15,104.24036281 --> 00:05:21,354.24036281
You have to practice essentially proportional representation and hiring you have to treat it.
47
00:05:22,904.24036281 --> 00:05:40,244.24036281
Yeah, well, the proportional representation to it in general is considered at least a first line basis for a lawsuit that any of the major racial groups in the population in your business doesn't match the percentage of that group in the overall national population.
48
00:05:41,694.24036281 --> 00:05:48,804.24036281
So most companies, especially following the EO we're talking about, hire roughly proportionally.
49
00:05:49,134.24036281 --> 00:05:56,114.24036281
Affirmative action comes out of that because group performance on the major standardized board tests, IQ tests, so on, is so different.
50
00:05:56,724.23936281 --> 00:06:13,244.24036281
So, I mean, on the SAT in the most recent year that I've used for research, I'm sure this is Probably not the most recent year, but I mean, you had Asians at 1223 East Asians were probably 80 points above that you had white city, you know, very solid 1114, you had blacks.
51
00:06:13,804.24036281 --> 00:06:14,204.24036281
I don't know.
52
00:06:14,524.24036281 --> 00:06:15,604.24036281
I think blacks were next.
53
00:06:15,604.24036281 --> 00:06:17,104.24036281
Actually, it was 9 60.
54
00:06:17,104.24036281 --> 00:06:20,614.24036281
Something Hispanics natives were at 9 12.
55
00:06:20,774.24036281 --> 00:06:26,154.24036281
I mean, so your islanders beat blacks, but I mean, so you had all these groups performing at these very different levels.
56
00:06:26,154.24036281 --> 00:06:36,964.24036281
And the simple reality is that if you want, I mean, to be almost 4 percent Native American Indians, you'd have to give Native American Indians a 330 point boost or whatever that would be.
57
00:06:37,414.24036281 --> 00:06:44,654.24036281
Over Asian Americans, blacks would get a 150 point boost relative to white.
58
00:06:44,654.24036281 --> 00:06:46,104.24036281
So that's how affirmative action comes in.
59
00:06:46,514.24036281 --> 00:06:48,174.23986281
But Trump basically got rid of all that.
60
00:06:48,174.23986281 --> 00:06:52,904.24036281
I mean, he just said, you don't have to engage in these hiring practices to do business, the federal government.
61
00:06:52,914.24036281 --> 00:06:54,344.23936281
So that's, that was actually very elegant.
62
00:06:54,919.24036281 --> 00:06:57,899.24036281
And a lot of that was almost the Project 2025 stuff.
63
00:06:57,899.24036281 --> 00:07:00,969.24036281
Like, you could tell somebody wrote the EO.
64
00:07:01,379.24036281 --> 00:07:04,749.24036281
Like, there's the one where he, uh, says that every U.
65
00:07:04,749.24036281 --> 00:07:05,9.24036281
S.
66
00:07:05,29.24036281 --> 00:07:10,919.24036281
document that contains the phrase gender identity is going to be rewritten to contain the phrase sex.
67
00:07:11,269.24036281 --> 00:07:17,204.24036281
And this very TERF y definition that I think he got from Wolf, the women, the mainstream feminist organization.
68
00:07:17,514.24036281 --> 00:07:22,884.24036281
Like, so when Trump came in with his allies on board and all those ready, I think he did a really good job.
69
00:07:23,284.24036281 --> 00:07:25,464.24036281
Since then, I think we've been seeing a lot of nonsense.
70
00:07:25,474.24036281 --> 00:07:39,414.24036281
Like, last line, I don't really want to ramble about this, but on Twitter the other day, like, I was just on there sparring with people, and like, serious people like congressmen were proposing, and you can tell the big guy himself had probably thought of the idea, that Trump be placed on the 100 bill.
71
00:07:40,124.24036281 --> 00:07:50,869.24036281
You can still see this if you go on to Twitter or Facebook, like Yeah, like Congressman Ray Isser or whatever, it's a picture of like Trump staring sternly out of the hundred.
72
00:07:51,209.24036281 --> 00:08:03,129.24036281
And the slogans like what we need now in America, that's the kind of crap you don't want Trump getting sidelined in, you know, change the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of Trump or whatever, I mean like that, that sort of stuff we don't.
73
00:08:04,909.24036281 --> 00:08:14,9.24036281
And his statements, I mean, calling Justin Trudeau the governor of the 51st state is funny, but it's really unnecessary and kind of odd for a head of state.
74
00:08:14,279.24036281 --> 00:08:19,364.24036281
Um, so it's There are, there are hard facts on the ground, like 1.
75
00:08:19,364.34036281 --> 00:08:30,854.24036281
1 trillion dollars has come in as new investments in the United States in roughly the first month and a half, which is significant and outpaces previous administrations by orders of magnitude as far as I understand.
76
00:08:31,289.24036281 --> 00:08:37,429.24036281
A lot of that coming from, um, external supplies, um, or external investments, AI investments, and so forth.
77
00:08:37,429.34036281 --> 00:08:43,569.24036281
Um, those are very important things, and I'm, I'm really concerned primarily about economics.
78
00:08:43,659.24036281 --> 00:08:58,709.24036281
Um, and I think this differentiates me from a lot of people who are left of center, as well as a lot of people who are, we might say hard right, where they're focusing on the 100 bills, and naming things, and, you know, owning libs, close quote, and so forth.
79
00:08:59,119.23936281 --> 00:09:02,644.24036281
I'm really concerned about the Present recession.
80
00:09:02,724.24036281 --> 00:09:05,434.24036281
We've been in one technically since July of last year.
81
00:09:05,504.24036281 --> 00:09:07,984.24036281
I don't know if you agree with that, but Tucker agrees with that.
82
00:09:08,204.24036281 --> 00:09:08,754.24036281
I, I do.
83
00:09:08,994.24036281 --> 00:09:10,854.24036281
And he's worried about a double recession.
84
00:09:11,214.24036281 --> 00:09:17,584.24036281
Um, I'm concerned about the average American, um, and their pocketbooks and their ability to maintain a standard of living.
85
00:09:18,34.23936281 --> 00:09:27,474.24036281
Um, what are your concerns in the near term, professor? Your hard line concerns, what you think matters most.
86
00:09:30,329.24036281 --> 00:09:38,669.24036281
Through the United States, I mean, I think that so that's an interesting question, you know, people are talking about serious issues like investment in the country.
87
00:09:38,669.24036281 --> 00:09:45,259.23936281
Other people are talking about these sort of dissident right issues, some of which are quite serious, like mass migration.
88
00:09:45,299.23936281 --> 00:09:45,849.24036281
Others are.
89
00:09:46,109.24036281 --> 00:09:50,89.24036281
What are we going to name the mountains? Trump actually did rename the mountains, by the way.
90
00:09:50,89.24036281 --> 00:09:51,809.24036281
He renamed Denali Mount McKinley.
91
00:09:51,809.24036281 --> 00:09:52,829.24036281
This became a two day wonder.
92
00:09:53,389.24036281 --> 00:10:04,109.23936281
Um, I think that most of the issues that I would be concerned about are long time kind of human flourishing issues, if I really had to think about this.
93
00:10:04,119.24036281 --> 00:10:05,739.24036281
So number one would probably be the debt.
94
00:10:06,589.24036281 --> 00:10:08,889.24036281
I mean, so all of these are going to be like of this kind.
95
00:10:08,889.24036281 --> 00:10:16,419.24036281
I mean, I think I've said some of these before, like the number one issue for the USA is the fact that we're 30 trillion dollars in debt or whatever it is.
96
00:10:17,89.24036281 --> 00:10:26,659.24036281
Like we treat this as though it's not a reality because the Chinese are 10 trillion dollars in debt to us and the Renminbi is pegged to the dollar, but all that means is that we can destroy each other.
97
00:10:26,659.24036281 --> 00:10:32,289.23936281
I mean, at some point you do have to pay back these, these massive investments of money.
98
00:10:32,819.24036281 --> 00:10:41,119.23936281
Um, you know, mass migration, I don't think inherently is a problem, but the combination of mass migration and climate change would probably be somewhere in the top 10.
99
00:10:41,769.24036281 --> 00:10:42,669.23986281
What, what is the U.
100
00:10:42,669.23986281 --> 00:10:42,849.23936281
S.
101
00:10:42,849.24036281 --> 00:10:46,699.23936281
national, so I guess you'd actually do three X's there in terms of an interaction term.
102
00:10:46,699.24036281 --> 00:10:50,9.24036281
So there's mass migration, climate change, and then our refusal to assimilate.
103
00:10:51,249.24036281 --> 00:10:52,339.24036281
Following woke.
104
00:10:52,569.24036281 --> 00:10:53,249.24036281
So what's the U.
105
00:10:53,249.24036281 --> 00:10:53,409.24036281
S.
106
00:10:53,409.24036281 --> 00:10:53,489.24036281
A.
107
00:10:53,529.24036281 --> 00:11:00,659.24036281
Going to look like in 100 years? I don't really think it would matter much of most people at my skin tone instead of yours.
108
00:11:00,669.23936281 --> 00:11:03,149.23936281
And we're both sitting here wearing sweaters and so on.
109
00:11:03,149.24036281 --> 00:11:14,129.24036281
But I mean, like, the question is, are those people going to have any kind of core American ideals given what we're currently teaching and so on? So the press of migration would be one of my concerns.
110
00:11:14,149.24036281 --> 00:11:21,329.24036281
The debt Um, baseline baseline things like nuclear weaponry in the background, the USA and the Russians never got rid of the bombs.
111
00:11:21,779.24036281 --> 00:11:27,259.24036281
You know, I read a horrible piece in one of the kind of defense intelligence quarterly type publications the other day.
112
00:11:27,259.24036281 --> 00:11:28,459.24036281
We're not maintaining them.
113
00:11:29,119.23936281 --> 00:11:37,59.24036281
So we actually have all these nuclear weapons sort of leaking and bunkers in Utah, you know, that we're going to have to deal with at some point.
114
00:11:37,59.24036281 --> 00:11:40,909.24036281
So my, my core issues would all be things of this kind, like the nuclear arsenal.
115
00:11:41,324.24036281 --> 00:11:44,684.24036281
Uh, the amount of money we owe to foreign enemies, migration.
116
00:11:44,984.24036281 --> 00:11:47,304.24036281
Uh, a fourth one I'll throw out there would be the birth rate.
117
00:11:48,294.24036281 --> 00:11:53,284.23936281
Like the Western white led countries aren't reproducing at all.
118
00:11:53,614.24036281 --> 00:11:56,694.24036281
Um, you know, I don't have kids myself.
119
00:11:56,704.23936281 --> 00:11:59,284.24036281
This is something I've got like a three year window to have like two kids.
120
00:11:59,324.23936281 --> 00:12:01,724.24036281
I mean, it's a transactional way to look at it, but I don't think I'm going to.
121
00:12:02,214.24036281 --> 00:12:07,684.24036281
But I mean, this is a common decision I find friends of mine, businesswomen and so on making at like 38.
122
00:12:08,104.24036281 --> 00:12:10,334.24036281
And that, that's really not ideal.
123
00:12:10,819.24036281 --> 00:12:16,989.24036281
But I mean, it's better than the alternative, which is just not, I mean, so like the upper middle class, Western American birth rates, like 1.
124
00:12:17,19.24036281 --> 00:12:19,79.24036281
01, obviously 2.
125
00:12:19,109.24036281 --> 00:12:27,649.24036281
2 is the replacement, right? Yeah, that's one of the reasons that I thought that maybe mass migration could actually be medicinal for the United States, because we're just not having kids.
126
00:12:28,39.23936281 --> 00:12:29,709.24036281
One second, I gotta close my window.
127
00:12:29,779.23936281 --> 00:12:38,939.24036281
I'm, uh, in the light, you watch, you know? There are Indian heritage where I don't do well in the light.
128
00:12:40,229.24036281 --> 00:12:41,839.23936281
I look like a fucking vampire.
129
00:12:42,309.24036281 --> 00:12:42,559.24036281
So.
130
00:12:43,494.24036281 --> 00:12:54,344.24036281
Yeah, I was, uh, thinking that, uh, if you want to get conspiratorial about it, maybe the borders have been porous and open because the powers that be know that we're not reproducing and we need new consumer units.
131
00:12:54,574.24036281 --> 00:12:55,994.23936281
But that's a little conspiratorial.
132
00:12:56,104.23936281 --> 00:13:00,509.24036281
You were saying regarding the same issue? I think there's an element of truth to that.
133
00:13:00,519.24036281 --> 00:13:06,19.24036281
But the question is like, where are the conspiracy cuts? Because the powers that be have also been telling us not to have kids.
134
00:13:06,469.23936281 --> 00:13:15,529.23936281
Like I remember throughout my entire life, people trying to scare me about sex, and I don't think that was entirely a coincidence.
135
00:13:15,529.23936281 --> 00:13:17,484.14036281
I mean, so there was this Baptist like me.
136
00:13:18,274.24036281 --> 00:13:20,364.24036281
No, but I mean, like, quite outside of the church.
137
00:13:20,364.24036281 --> 00:13:26,44.24036281
I mean, I guess my church would be Catholic or AME, thinking of the family African Methodist Episcopal, but that applies to black church.
138
00:13:26,374.24036281 --> 00:13:29,534.24036281
But I mean, like, the preacher's supposed to do that.
139
00:13:29,554.24036281 --> 00:13:32,504.23936281
Like, what are you kids doing after prom? That's their role in society.
140
00:13:32,844.24036281 --> 00:13:38,234.24036281
But no, like, mainstream institutions were, I remember the Western heterosexual AIDS crisis.
141
00:13:38,954.24036281 --> 00:13:45,314.24036281
Where people were talking about how, you know, this disease doesn't much care who you are, to quote Molly Ivins.
142
00:13:45,814.24036281 --> 00:13:49,694.23936281
And, you know, Ryan White was on television talking about how he received AIDS.
143
00:13:49,694.24036281 --> 00:13:54,184.23986281
Just, he was dealing with hemophilia, and he got one transfusion of blood.
144
00:13:54,184.23986281 --> 00:13:55,794.24036281
It was his first, and that's all it took.
145
00:13:56,294.24036281 --> 00:14:05,944.23936281
You know, I knew people in high school that were refusing to date for a period of like six months, or turning down, let's say, specific forms of sex with Catholic school girlfriends, because that's how it spreads.
146
00:14:05,944.24036281 --> 00:14:07,414.24036281
Man, you know, look at Magic Johnson.
147
00:14:07,834.24036281 --> 00:14:13,714.24036281
And this went on and on, uh, throughout, uh, much of a later life.
148
00:14:13,714.24036281 --> 00:14:19,374.24036281
I mean, the panic about teen pregnancy, that you can have it all stuff directed at business women.
149
00:14:19,374.24036281 --> 00:14:25,254.23986281
Like you don't want to ruin your life by having a kid too early, make partner at 40 and then have two kids.
150
00:14:25,254.23986281 --> 00:14:35,364.24036281
I mean, people used to have the shirts, you know, and I, I think gradually you realize, of course, that, I mean, peak human fertility, it's awkward to talk about is, you know, upper middle class males, but it's 23.
151
00:14:35,794.34036281 --> 00:14:37,684.14036281
24.
152
00:14:37,944.24036281 --> 00:14:55,564.23936281
So this, this narrative has been promoted our entire life and that's why people aren't having kids and as you see the effects of that in the Caucasian community, upper middle class black community across the native born population, that's when I think you started seeing a huge focus on mass migration.
153
00:14:55,574.24036281 --> 00:14:57,14.24036281
Like, well, we've got to do something.
154
00:14:57,474.24036281 --> 00:15:02,914.24036281
So I think if there's a conspiracy there, it's even sketchier than well, they realized they need new consumer units.
155
00:15:02,914.24036281 --> 00:15:03,584.24036281
It's sort of.
156
00:15:03,584.34036281 --> 00:15:03,759.14036281
Okay.
157
00:15:03,989.24036281 --> 00:15:08,499.24036281
Well, we're kind of tired of some of these recalcitrant people that we have in the United States.
158
00:15:08,509.24036281 --> 00:15:13,399.24036281
Like, if we, we need to import new serfs, would be, would be the take there.
159
00:15:14,339.24036281 --> 00:15:16,429.24036281
Um, and yeah, that, that's something I worry about.
160
00:15:16,429.24036281 --> 00:15:29,229.23936281
Like, I don't, I don't think there'd be any problem at all with importing the Latin American middle class, honestly, given the system that was in place when the Irish and Italian middle classes were coming to the USA.
161
00:15:29,984.24036281 --> 00:15:53,204.24036281
Like somewhat brutal assimilation Uh a really shared core national identity military service for men that kind of thing But we've moved away from that to a point where yeah There probably will be some issues if we're uh, we're split 50 50 white and poc And many people lack any sort of national identity in, in a couple of decades.
162
00:15:54,174.24036281 --> 00:15:55,164.24036281
What a grim story.
163
00:15:55,394.24036281 --> 00:16:08,604.24036281
What about, uh, the idea of a gold card that Trump has instituted 5 million to buy your way to the United States to pay off our debt and import people, uh, who have assets and, and wherewithal.
164
00:16:09,764.24036281 --> 00:16:14,994.24036281
Actually for that, I mean, I don't, I think that's one of those things that you're supposed to be against on some kind of vague moral grounds.
165
00:16:15,14.24036281 --> 00:16:16,124.24036281
Nah, I support it.
166
00:16:16,134.24036281 --> 00:16:20,214.24036281
Which is weird because it's the same thing that New Zealand does as well as Switzerland.
167
00:16:20,334.24036281 --> 00:16:24,274.24036281
It costs something like 300, 000 minimum to get into Switzerland.
168
00:16:26,14.24036281 --> 00:16:27,204.24036281
That's what a lot of countries do.
169
00:16:27,244.24036281 --> 00:16:38,344.23936281
I mean, no, but I mean like the, the basic idea that you can just as a person of any background immigrate to any country is a very new world phenomenon.
170
00:16:38,794.23936281 --> 00:16:43,904.2393628
And once when I had a class full of very woke students and a political science course, I actually had them test this.
171
00:16:44,424.2403628 --> 00:16:53,304.2403628
So, I mean, we're in, you know, the capital city of one of the major states, you know, then everyone has a phone, DC is, you know, two seconds away by dial.
172
00:16:53,674.2403628 --> 00:17:06,284.2393628
I had them contact a couple of embassies and ask, you know, what would it take to move to India? You know, I'm a graduate student at a state university and people were explicitly polite, but it was like, well, you'd either have to pay us a million dollars or you'd have to be ethnically Indian.
173
00:17:06,944.2403628 --> 00:17:16,704.2393628
What do you mean by ethnically Indian? Well, we mean brown and of the Shatria caste from the provinces of, you know, Gujarat or Rissa or like it was, it was very bluntly explained.
174
00:17:17,224.2393628 --> 00:17:23,924.2403628
So the basic idea that you have to contribute something to the country or be part of the founding stock of the country is.
175
00:17:24,314.2403628 --> 00:17:30,374.2403628
Extremely common globally, uh, in the United States, like we obviously have the green card process.
176
00:17:30,384.2403628 --> 00:17:41,334.2393628
Still, if you don't have the 5 million, it's not just going to be rich people, but if you've got 5 million bucks, or I would add a recently patented invention, I don't, I don't see any reason why we wouldn't let you jump to the front of the line.
177
00:17:41,334.2413628 --> 00:17:43,704.2403628
You're obviously a contributor and come here and start a business.
178
00:17:44,174.2403628 --> 00:17:49,74.2403628
The one thing that's clearly going to happen, of course, is we're going to get a lot of dope dealers and Chinese spies and so on.
179
00:17:49,74.2403628 --> 00:17:53,324.2403628
You're going to have to vet the ranks of these people very, very closely.
180
00:17:53,804.2403628 --> 00:18:07,4.2403628
How did you get your money? You know, Mr Wang, you know, like you can't pay in dollar bills coming in, right? Yeah, you can't, you gotta, there's gotta, you can't untraceable and transfers from cartago.
181
00:18:08,274.2403628 --> 00:18:13,724.2403628
I mean, like you, there would have to be some way of verifying that people are who they say they are.
182
00:18:13,724.3403628 --> 00:18:17,634.2403628
You'd have to look at the kind of paper they were using if they're coming from Latin America.
183
00:18:17,664.2403628 --> 00:18:18,314.1403628
I mean, okay.
184
00:18:18,774.2403628 --> 00:18:51,904.2403628
But in general, I don't really object to the idea you get the suns and Nigerian princes and Chinese inventors and this kind of thing I mean, you're not so I want to pivot here real quick to get your reaction a couple other relevant stories What is your perspective on doge and what they're up to for reference Jeffrey Tucker thinks that so far they've been cutting basically Nonsense out of the budget and 50 60 billion dollars, which is nothing and he thinks that it's mostly unserious at this point Yeah, I like Jeffrey Tucker from, uh, formerly of Brownstone as I recall.
185
00:18:51,904.2403628 --> 00:18:54,784.2403628
He's a good guy and a good, good, uh, good scholar.
186
00:18:54,804.2403628 --> 00:18:57,474.2403628
Um, yeah, so that's, that's pretty much correct.
187
00:18:57,694.2403628 --> 00:19:00,704.2403628
I, no, I, I, again, 60 billion isn't nothing.
188
00:19:00,714.2403628 --> 00:19:03,414.2403628
I mean, even for Elon Musk, that's a good, like, two weeks work.
189
00:19:03,774.2403628 --> 00:19:06,944.2393628
But I don't think a lot of people understand how the budget works.
190
00:19:07,344.2403628 --> 00:19:10,144.2403628
So the United States budget is on the order of 6 trillion.
191
00:19:11,444.2403628 --> 00:19:15,24.2403628
And most of the budget is what's called relatively uncontrollable spending.
192
00:19:15,489.2403628 --> 00:19:18,99.2403628
I mean, it's the social security quote unquote lockbox.
193
00:19:18,119.2403628 --> 00:19:25,349.2403628
It's Medicare, Medicaid, regular welfare, which breaks out into Section 8, SNAP, which is food stamps.
194
00:19:25,359.2403628 --> 00:19:27,619.2403628
All these, these preset programs.
195
00:19:28,9.2403628 --> 00:19:29,259.2403628
Then it's defense.
196
00:19:29,559.2403628 --> 00:19:40,199.2403628
And then once you get through social security, I eat a lockbox, Medicare, Medicaid, welfare and defense, you get everything else, which is you might correct me, but 14 percent of the budget, something like that.
197
00:19:40,379.2403628 --> 00:19:41,989.2403628
Oh, there's also debt service.
198
00:19:42,229.2393628 --> 00:19:46,999.2403628
So after you get through the things I just described, 11 percent of the budget is paying the interest on our debt.
199
00:19:47,419.2403628 --> 00:19:54,779.2393628
So anything that's built up on a bearer bond you hold, which is technically us debt, anything we owe to the Chinese, so on down the line.
200
00:19:55,389.2403628 --> 00:20:01,599.2403628
Um, and after that, again, you get back to 12 or 14 percent that's spent on everything else.
201
00:20:01,989.2403628 --> 00:20:07,59.2403628
So when people talk about government waste, they're talking entirely about the everything else category.
202
00:20:07,539.2403628 --> 00:20:25,999.2403628
And it's fun to go into the everything else category and find out that we're running homosexual llama farms in Kosovo or something like that, but that, that's never Where the majority of the money is going to come from we're never going to spend that much on homosexual llama farming It's so like to get really we discriminate.
203
00:20:26,9.2393628 --> 00:20:27,179.2393628
That's why we don't spend more.
204
00:20:27,219.2393628 --> 00:20:27,999.2403628
But anyways, go ahead.
205
00:20:28,319.2403628 --> 00:20:33,189.2403628
Yeah, that's right If those are those are straight llamas Then white fur.
206
00:20:33,669.2403628 --> 00:20:43,709.2403628
Yeah Disgusting what's going on? But anyway, but like all that stuff like they're I remember one of the things Elon cut, and I actually follow Elon on Twitter.
207
00:20:43,709.2403628 --> 00:20:44,779.2403628
He follows me, in fact.
208
00:20:45,89.2403628 --> 00:20:48,709.2403628
So I was able to hear about some of this on a blow by blow, uh, kind of basis.
209
00:20:49,49.2403628 --> 00:20:53,829.2403628
But like, one of the things they cut was like a 75, 000 for a transgender comic book in Peru.
210
00:20:54,369.2393628 --> 00:20:59,764.1403628
And it's kind of funny, you know, that's a crazy amount of money to spend on a transgender comic book in Peru.
211
00:21:00,224.2403628 --> 00:21:04,154.2403628
You know, it costs maybe 10 cents an issue to print a book, even to the level of DC or Marvel.
212
00:21:04,154.2403628 --> 00:21:05,834.2403628
There's some kid partying down there, probably.
213
00:21:05,834.3403628 --> 00:21:08,344.2393628
I spend a dollar on a comp book in Perth.
214
00:21:08,674.2403628 --> 00:21:11,54.2393628
And that's the argument, right? Absolutely, yeah.
215
00:21:11,304.2403628 --> 00:21:16,444.2393628
But I mean, there's a secondary level of 75, 000 is a mediocre job.
216
00:21:16,464.2393628 --> 00:21:19,714.2403628
It's not for one person for one year.
217
00:21:19,714.2403628 --> 00:21:24,434.2403628
It's not really, that's not what the majority of our budget spend is going on.
218
00:21:24,704.2403628 --> 00:21:27,794.2403628
So yeah, Elon has cut billions of dollars worth of that kind of thing.
219
00:21:27,794.2403628 --> 00:21:29,164.2403628
I mean, basically good for him.
220
00:21:29,174.2403628 --> 00:21:29,724.2403628
But.
221
00:21:30,99.2403628 --> 00:21:31,879.2403628
Yeah, it's not going to make an impact.
222
00:21:32,129.2403628 --> 00:21:43,259.2403628
The other thing with that is that when you make those kind of cuts and they go deep at all, so he really did get rid of a lot of USAID, Trump proved that would close the doors of a lot of USAID missions.
223
00:21:43,859.2403628 --> 00:21:46,419.2393628
There are also real things that go along with that.
224
00:21:46,419.2413628 --> 00:21:50,59.2403628
And you can say this is kind of hostage puppy in the old business school scenario.
225
00:21:50,414.2403628 --> 00:21:51,874.2403628
But the real things are there.
226
00:21:52,474.2403628 --> 00:21:59,714.2393628
So, like, right now, as I understand, we're no longer, and I understand this from people that are on the ground in other countries, we're no longer running PREPFAR, which is the U.
227
00:21:59,714.2393628 --> 00:21:59,824.2393628
S.
228
00:21:59,824.2403628 --> 00:22:00,894.2393628
Anti AIDS Program.
229
00:22:01,984.2403628 --> 00:22:04,644.2403628
And this, this is established under, uh, Mr.
230
00:22:04,684.2403628 --> 00:22:05,444.2398628
Bush, George W.
231
00:22:05,444.2398628 --> 00:22:05,854.2393628
Bush.
232
00:22:06,344.2403628 --> 00:22:09,404.2393628
And basically, we're giving PREP at third world prices.
233
00:22:09,424.2393628 --> 00:22:11,904.2403628
PREP is the HIV antiviral.
234
00:22:11,904.2403628 --> 00:22:13,874.2403628
Like, if you take it, you're probably not going to get AIDS.
235
00:22:13,874.3403628 --> 00:22:16,264.2403628
If you have HIV, you're not going to get full blown AIDS.
236
00:22:16,964.2403628 --> 00:22:25,64.2393628
Um, we were giving this to a large number of people in high risk regions of Africa, like African prostitutes, male truck drivers, this kind of thing.
237
00:22:25,534.2403628 --> 00:22:29,394.2393628
And as a result, probably millions of people have not contracted AIDS.
238
00:22:29,404.2403628 --> 00:22:33,864.2398628
So HIV transmission rates are down from 30 percent or whatever they were at their peak.
239
00:22:33,864.2398628 --> 00:22:36,64.2413628
I'm not an epidemiologist to say 10%.
240
00:22:36,694.2403628 --> 00:22:41,964.2403628
And this is, this is very beneficial because West African immigrants to the United States are actually really high performing.
241
00:22:42,244.2403628 --> 00:22:45,534.2403628
But one problem with that group was that they used to have a very high HIV rate.
242
00:22:45,544.2403628 --> 00:22:45,854.2393628
Now they don't.
243
00:22:47,4.2403628 --> 00:22:53,774.2403628
So if you have a whole bunch of people coming over here that are going to be doctors, you don't want them to have AIDS in the hospital.
244
00:22:53,964.2403628 --> 00:22:57,734.2403628
Like there are practical reasons you don't want a lot of people to have AIDS.
245
00:22:58,114.2403628 --> 00:23:01,964.2393628
So I mean, we, we are, we ended up cutting this program.
246
00:23:01,964.2403628 --> 00:23:03,44.2403628
I think this is the point.
247
00:23:03,514.2403628 --> 00:23:05,364.2398628
And now we're kind of figuring out what to do.
248
00:23:05,364.2398628 --> 00:23:14,564.2403628
I mean, are we going to reinstate just that as opposed to the rest of USAID? So when you come in there, like Elon actually did the old CEO meme where he was holding a chainsaw.
249
00:23:15,44.2403628 --> 00:23:22,124.2403628
When you come in there like a chainsaw Jim Duggan or whatever, like the CEO for GE back in the day, you make a lot of these mistakes.
250
00:23:22,124.2403628 --> 00:23:31,234.2403628
And the question is, can you, can you fix them? Yeah, I thought that that, um, that the chainsaw antics are sort of like Trump off teleprompter, totally unnecessary.
251
00:23:31,514.2403628 --> 00:23:40,234.2403628
You don't need to go down to Argentina, have Javier Mele give you a chrome chainsaw, and then have a WWE style hat, trucker hat, and some, uh, Ray Bans on.
252
00:23:40,534.2403628 --> 00:23:44,914.2403628
You know, my thought was, Elon, put on a suit, sit down.
253
00:23:45,54.2403628 --> 00:23:49,384.2403628
Talk reasonably, look like you're a statesman, don't freak people out.
254
00:23:49,654.2403628 --> 00:23:51,514.2403628
Um, so that's one thing.
255
00:23:51,524.2403628 --> 00:24:06,44.2403628
And what about your thoughts on the war on Ukraine and the blow up in the oval office this past week between Zelensky and Trump and Vance? Well, I think this is another one of those of just like, sorry.
256
00:24:07,774.2403628 --> 00:24:33,724.2403628
Um, I think this is another one of those you'd prefer people just act in a normal kind of coherent way I would actually I kind of blame zalinsky for this more than trump advance now that i've watched the entire clip because Most of the clip was trump advance kind of dropping subtle hints Like, yeah, when that minerals deals in place, nobody's going to mess with the thousand or so us workers, it'll be in that country with us splitting the profit.
257
00:24:34,4.2403628 --> 00:24:37,14.2393628
Like, so they're, they're trying to give these backdoor security assurances.
258
00:24:37,14.2393628 --> 00:24:46,804.2403628
If you watch the full 42 minutes to Zelinsky saying, look, you didn't bribe us, but we wanted something as payment for us involvement, we got that.
259
00:24:47,974.2403628 --> 00:24:51,274.2403628
And we got that.
260
00:24:51,314.2403628 --> 00:24:57,254.2393628
And so we're going to be working very closely with Ukraine in the near future.
261
00:24:57,954.2403628 --> 00:25:00,824.2403628
And Zelensky just kind of isn't accepting that.
262
00:25:00,834.2403628 --> 00:25:03,934.2403628
Like, I get the feeling he wants a very explicit guarantee.
263
00:25:04,924.2403628 --> 00:25:10,224.2398628
And he also seems to have some other issues with the full conversation.
264
00:25:10,224.2398628 --> 00:25:19,254.2403628
So he's saying, for example, that, uh, what did, what are all the things he said in that conversation? We need to, we're not going to make any deals with a killer.
265
00:25:20,9.2403628 --> 00:25:24,119.2403628
We need to keep Europe fully involved in, in this conversation.
266
00:25:24,559.2403628 --> 00:25:26,39.2403628
We're not giving up anything.
267
00:25:26,129.2403628 --> 00:25:32,739.2393628
So I think Zelensky is kind of saying what he's been saying through the, the entire process of the war.
268
00:25:33,349.2403628 --> 00:25:39,529.2403628
And he finally begins to get hostile with Trump and Vance when he realizes, well, this probably isn't going to going to work.
269
00:25:39,989.2403628 --> 00:25:44,449.2403628
And that's when they start yelling back and forth and he gets, uh, frankly tossed out of the meeting.
270
00:25:45,139.2403628 --> 00:25:48,439.2403628
Um, I don't think it was a good performance by any of them.
271
00:25:48,439.2403628 --> 00:25:50,129.2403628
That's stuff you work out beforehand.
272
00:25:50,969.2403628 --> 00:26:01,949.2403628
But you know, Zelensky goal was kind of going in there and closing this deal and showing he had continued support from his large ally and he was the guy who didn't do that.
273
00:26:01,949.2403628 --> 00:26:03,689.2403628
So, I mean, a, a large chunk of that is on him.
274
00:26:04,529.2403628 --> 00:26:10,919.2403628
He did try to strong, it's some like eye issue here, but look, you wanna take it? No, it's pretty much through now.
275
00:26:10,919.2403628 --> 00:26:11,489.2403628
Just blinking a lot.
276
00:26:12,699.2403628 --> 00:26:13,709.2403628
So, I agree with you.
277
00:26:13,709.2403628 --> 00:26:17,939.2403628
I thought that Zelensky was very passive aggressive at first, and then became aggressive.
278
00:26:18,99.2403628 --> 00:26:22,299.2403628
He almost seemed to, uh, believe that he could strong arm Trump in public.
279
00:26:22,799.2403628 --> 00:26:31,259.2403628
Taking no account, apparently, as to who Trump is, which is an entirely disagreeable recalcitrant man, who does not like to be leveraged at all.
280
00:26:31,389.2403628 --> 00:26:33,59.2403628
That's totally against his ethos.
281
00:26:33,864.2403628 --> 00:26:42,944.2403628
That being said, um, you know, it had terrible optics, the meeting, you know, that, um, they were all shouting at each other and, and Trump is saying, you don't have the cards and so forth.
282
00:26:42,954.2403628 --> 00:27:05,964.2403628
In the context of his recent statements calling Zelensky a dictator and having really unfortunate wordplay in front of the media on this, um, I think that the American public Was primed to view this as some kind of a failure and debacle of the administration, and perhaps in some ways it was because this sort of thing should have happened, as you mentioned, behind closed doors prior to a public display.
283
00:27:06,794.2403628 --> 00:27:08,624.2403628
That's the way it would have been done in the past.
284
00:27:08,624.2403628 --> 00:27:17,944.2403628
Y'all would meet, uh, behind closed doors, come to an arrangement and an agreement, and then present the sort of coiffed veneer to the cameras.
285
00:27:18,154.2393628 --> 00:27:24,634.2393628
They didn't do that, which some people like, but I think most people are not prepared to view that kind of raw footage that way.
286
00:27:24,634.2393628 --> 00:27:26,854.2403628
It's very destabilizing psychologically.
287
00:27:29,69.2403628 --> 00:27:39,779.2393628
Yeah, that was the, that was the thing that struck me the most like, I mean, my fiance described it as amateur hour where you, the basic idea of three guys yelling at each other in a meeting.
288
00:27:39,839.2403628 --> 00:27:48,9.2403628
I mean, we've seen this in meetings, not there's nothing straight striking about it, but you're talking about a situation here where perhaps a million people have died in this war so far.
289
00:27:48,649.2403628 --> 00:28:02,389.2393628
And your, the question is, can you guys arrive at this deal? Involving rare earth minerals and security guarantees and all of these other things and then present it to the cameras if you can't, why is there a press conference? Right.
290
00:28:02,389.2403628 --> 00:28:09,909.2393628
What are what are all these people who themselves are very important lead reporters from? Well, none of them are part, but I mean, lead reporters, NBC and so on.
291
00:28:09,909.2413628 --> 00:28:12,479.2403628
What are they doing there? So, I mean.
292
00:28:12,649.2403628 --> 00:28:15,149.2403628
You'd assume that all the shouting would have been worked out beforehand.
293
00:28:15,159.2403628 --> 00:28:17,519.2403628
You'd assume that they would know what they were going to say.
294
00:28:17,519.2403628 --> 00:28:23,709.2403628
They'd all have a little notepad in their hands and they would do this for 20 or 30 minutes and do bunny hug each other.
295
00:28:23,709.2403628 --> 00:28:26,459.2403628
And then they would close the conference.
296
00:28:26,469.2393628 --> 00:28:29,119.2393628
So yeah, it was, it was surprising to see that not happen.
297
00:28:29,599.2403628 --> 00:28:32,879.2403628
I actually suspect Zelensky probably had his notes.
298
00:28:32,879.2403628 --> 00:28:41,749.2398628
I mean, there's been some speculation behind the scenes that Zelensky knew what he was going to do and then was contacted by advisors in Europe and on the U.
299
00:28:41,749.2398628 --> 00:28:41,979.2393628
S.
300
00:28:41,979.2403628 --> 00:28:44,199.2393628
left and told not to do it.
301
00:28:44,419.2393628 --> 00:28:46,339.2403628
I haven't seen any proof of that.
302
00:28:46,339.2403628 --> 00:28:47,649.2398628
It's come from people like P.
303
00:28:47,649.2398628 --> 00:28:47,809.2393628
T.
304
00:28:47,819.2393628 --> 00:28:49,69.2393628
Keenan online.
305
00:28:49,634.2403628 --> 00:28:55,904.2403628
Uh, who I know are in relationships with or have contact with people who have been in past administrations, but who aren't themselves.
306
00:28:56,184.2403628 --> 00:28:59,914.2403628
So, I mean, I'd have to see some, some verification of that.
307
00:29:00,264.2393628 --> 00:29:12,554.2403628
But the idea is someone contacted Zelensky, Zelensky was told, you know, the world is with you, don't give in, and he then grandstanded a little bit, and Trump said, well, no, I mean, we actually had a deal.
308
00:29:13,84.2403628 --> 00:29:14,304.2403628
We were going to sign the deal.
309
00:29:14,304.2403628 --> 00:29:15,994.2403628
That's what this conference is for and throw them out.
310
00:29:16,834.2403628 --> 00:29:21,854.2403628
So, I mean, if that is true, that explains a little of it, but, but yeah, the other nest optics are.
311
00:29:22,719.3028628 --> 00:29:29,809.3028628
Interesting, uh, that he would believe that, because the assurances given by Keir Starmer were nothing short of bizarre this past weekend.
312
00:29:29,819.3028628 --> 00:29:33,249.3028628
Like, he wants Irish and English boots on the ground in Ukraine.
313
00:29:33,469.3028628 --> 00:29:40,999.3028628
Just for reference, I believe the UK has around 50, 000 standing infantrymen, which is about the same size as the military of, um, Algeria.
314
00:29:41,529.3018628 --> 00:29:49,129.3028628
Uh, the idea that they're gonna go and, and make a, a resistance in, in Ukraine with the Ukrainians is, is Totally bizarre.
315
00:29:49,929.3028628 --> 00:29:56,879.3023628
I guess Ukraine could rely on, on the EU, were they to replace the amount of money that the United States is piping in.
316
00:29:56,879.3023628 --> 00:30:11,889.3028628
But I don't think they're inclined to do that, do you? No, I mean, so like what this reminds me of, I was a while ago, I watched one of the old DC Justice League movies where Superman dies and the opening portion of the movie.
317
00:30:11,889.3028628 --> 00:30:12,959.3028628
And there's a point to this.
318
00:30:13,139.3028628 --> 00:30:25,439.3028628
The opening portion of the movie is the rest of the Justice League who are also impressive, but much weaker in terms of their, their magic powers or whatever you like getting really aggressive and doing superhero shit.
319
00:30:25,439.3028628 --> 00:30:28,439.3028628
And they eventually end up pissing off one of the ancient gods.
320
00:30:28,854.3028628 --> 00:30:55,609.3028628
The older gods or whatever they're called dark side or some such thing And he ends up fighting with all of them and is probably going to beat them until like superman magically returns Now these movies are all written for 12 year old boys, but you couldn't help thinking about this when You see trump just storm off the stage and then all of these other countries like norway britain India briefly someone are saying to ukraine, you know, we've got your back We'll blow up the world.
321
00:30:55,609.3028628 --> 00:30:57,19.3028628
We don't need the USA for that.
322
00:30:57,359.3028628 --> 00:31:02,79.3028628
Like there, there is that feeling of like the secondary superheroes are now piling in.
323
00:31:02,649.3028628 --> 00:31:09,139.3028628
I personally think Russia with, you know, 20, 000 troops from China or North Korea could probably beat all of them.
324
00:31:09,969.3028628 --> 00:31:12,59.3028628
I mean, I don't, I don't actually, I don't know if that's true.
325
00:31:12,69.3018628 --> 00:31:14,889.3028628
Russia's already hung up in Ukraine and barely winning that war.
326
00:31:15,69.3028628 --> 00:31:27,339.3018628
So they, they have a second power that they're dealing with, but I don't know if the EU countries really want an on the ground war in Eastern Europe that would extend into next winter.
327
00:31:27,339.3028628 --> 00:31:28,899.3028628
I think that would be a simpler way of putting it.
328
00:31:28,909.3018628 --> 00:31:29,729.3018628
Whoever wins.
329
00:31:30,149.3028628 --> 00:31:35,49.3028628
I don't really see Britain, France, Spain, and so on having a lot of enthusiasm for that.
330
00:31:35,789.3028628 --> 00:31:43,829.3028628
The obvious objection to any kind of ceasefire extended ceasefire and then deal would be that it just emboldens countries like Russia to take over.
331
00:31:44,389.3028628 --> 00:31:49,639.3028628
Tracks of land in neighboring countries and then reach a ceasefire to permanently claim them.
332
00:31:50,19.3028628 --> 00:31:54,519.3023628
And so, but however, this is where we are and I think Trump is such a pragmatist.
333
00:31:54,519.3023628 --> 00:32:01,739.3018628
He's such a materialist being that he's saying, look, this has already happened and it's not getting reversed and it's a mistake and a foible.
334
00:32:01,899.3028628 --> 00:32:03,969.3028628
We've got to end it now and cut our losses.
335
00:32:04,319.3028628 --> 00:32:07,379.3028628
Um, whether you agree with that or not, I think that is his position.
336
00:32:07,379.3028628 --> 00:32:10,639.3028628
So, um, Let's let's call it here.
337
00:32:10,669.3028628 --> 00:32:11,19.3028628
Dr.
338
00:32:11,19.3028628 --> 00:32:11,569.3028628
Riley.
339
00:32:11,649.3028628 --> 00:32:31,219.3018628
I think we've heard some very good analysis so far And it's giving people an idea as to how you're seeing the world Which is why they've tuned in to real clear to catch this episode with professor Wilford Riley as I'd mentioned His books are listed below a political science professor at Kentucky State University and author of the excellent work Thank you so much.
340
00:32:31,219.3018628 --> 00:32:31,409.3018628
Dr.
341
00:32:31,459.3028628 --> 00:32:31,869.3028628
Riley.
342
00:32:33,119.3028628 --> 00:32:33,259.3028628
All right.
343
00:32:33,259.3028628 --> 00:32:34,389.3028628
Thanks a lot as always.

com.
4
00:00:13,314.240362812 --> 00:00:14,544.240362812
And welcome back, everybody.
5
00:00:14,544.240362812 --> 00:00:23,494.240362812
I am joined again by the crowd favorite Wilfred Riley, the great man from Kentucky State University, political science professor and author of excellent books, lies.
6
00:00:23,514.240362812 --> 00:00:25,714.239362812
My liberal teacher told me being the most recent.
7
00:00:26,14.239362812 --> 00:00:27,214.239362812
I'm linking to that below.
8
00:00:27,224.239362812 --> 00:00:29,64.240362812
I recommend you click it, buy it, share it.
9
00:00:29,424.240362812 --> 00:00:30,974.239362812
And I wanted to have Dr.
10
00:00:30,974.239362812 --> 00:00:38,734.240362812
Riley on to talk about a number of things, namely, Where he thinks the Trump administration has been successful and where he thinks it hasn't been.
11
00:00:39,4.240362812 --> 00:00:43,394.240362812
What his view is on the American present and the immediate American future.
12
00:00:43,794.240362812 --> 00:00:48,484.240362812
And I'll start off by reading something from a real clear member.
13
00:00:48,974.240362812 --> 00:00:49,454.240362812
Dr.
14
00:00:49,454.240362812 --> 00:01:18,674.240362812
15
00:01:18,674.240362812 --> 00:01:31,244.240362812
Mills is Canadian, by the way, take Greenland, the Panama Canal, and the Gaza Strip through military force, if necessary, and generally turn a liberal democracy into a fascist state.
16
00:01:31,804.239362812 --> 00:01:34,529.240362812
Do you agree with the above statement? Dr.
17
00:01:34,529.240362812 --> 00:01:39,79.240362812
Reilly, why or why not? Well, not really.
18
00:01:39,79.240362812 --> 00:01:43,109.24036281
I mean, I think a lot of that stuff is obvious, almost funny puffery.
19
00:01:43,109.24036281 --> 00:01:44,229.24036281
So there are three levels here.
20
00:01:44,239.24036281 --> 00:01:49,879.24036281
First of all, um, I don't think that ultimate moral rules are real to some extent.
21
00:01:49,889.23936281 --> 00:01:55,539.23936281
I mean, I think that's a pretty standard view among social scientists who've looked at different societies over the centuries.
22
00:01:55,889.24036281 --> 00:02:03,849.24036281
So, I mean, I, I do think that a lot of people would admire a world leader who actually became a Julius Caesar sort of figure.
23
00:02:04,209.24036281 --> 00:02:11,339.24036281
Like, if Trump actually conquered Canada, took over Greenland, uh, made the Arab world into a series of U.
24
00:02:11,339.24036281 --> 00:02:11,529.24036281
S.
25
00:02:11,559.24036281 --> 00:02:21,289.24036281
vassal states where women had rights and oil was delivered here on an annual basis and, you know, all the rest of that, I'm not sure that would, uh, Stop me from voting for Trump.
26
00:02:21,289.24036281 --> 00:02:31,699.24036281
And I'm not sure people would be doing voting in that society, but I think the chances of that happening are literally 0 percent that that's kind of just New York trash talking.
27
00:02:32,159.24036281 --> 00:02:36,569.24036281
You know, uh, Trump did a lot of this before the, uh, the four nations hockey summit.
28
00:02:37,149.24036281 --> 00:02:37,489.23986281
Right.
29
00:02:37,489.23986281 --> 00:02:41,39.24036281
Where he wished the team good luck against our 51st state.
30
00:02:41,329.24036281 --> 00:02:47,129.24036281
Uh, Canada actually won that game, but I do think that a lot of people who haven't maybe competed in, uh.
31
00:02:47,764.24036281 --> 00:03:05,194.23936281
High school varsity or collegiate athletics or been in the military or listening to that and they're saying my my god, he's serious Uh, I don't I don't think that is that is entirely correct You know going on from that do I think that some of that stuff would be a good idea, you know In theory some of it would be interesting in practice.
32
00:03:05,194.23936281 --> 00:03:11,694.24036281
I mean, I assume the canadians would resist quite well You know, there's some speculation in political science that canada's a secret nuclear power.
33
00:03:11,694.24036281 --> 00:03:18,994.24036281
They have one of the world's better small militaries So I don't actually think we're going to go up there into the tundra and, uh, you know, fight them for a couple of years.
34
00:03:18,994.24036281 --> 00:03:21,24.24036281
That'd be very much like Russia and Ukraine, actually.
35
00:03:21,634.24036281 --> 00:03:26,714.24036281
But, um, in terms of a broader take on the Trump administration, I think we've seen two things.
36
00:03:28,84.23936281 --> 00:03:33,104.23986281
There, the first, and I actually have a take on Trump that's very different from a lot of people.
37
00:03:33,104.23986281 --> 00:03:40,294.24036281
I kind of agree with Ben Shapiro, the conservative commentator on this, where he'll openly say, like, I like quote, unquote, teleprompter Trump.
38
00:03:40,899.24036281 --> 00:03:55,519.14036281
Like, I like Trump when he has a speech written by someone when they're obviously people from AEI or Claremont behind the scenes that are helping him out when Vance is in the room and when he's this big, smart guy, but he's also got a political team with him.
39
00:03:55,799.24036281 --> 00:03:58,79.23986281
And I think a lot of people kind of disagree with that.
40
00:03:58,79.23986281 --> 00:04:02,929.24036281
And they say, you know, I like Trump to be freestyle and shouting and screaming at people and making deals.
41
00:04:02,969.24036281 --> 00:04:04,689.24036281
I actually don't like that at all.
42
00:04:05,849.24036281 --> 00:04:33,999.23936281
43
00:04:35,939.24036281 --> 00:04:56,579.24036281
44
00:04:57,189.24036281 --> 00:04:59,239.24036281
Which was 5.
45
00:04:59,239.24036281 --> 00:05:14,669.24036281
And the way that EO 465 worked as someone who trained as a lawyer at a pretty good institution is that if you want to do business with the United States federal government, which as you know, every like fortune down through 4, 000 does.
46
00:05:15,104.24036281 --> 00:05:21,354.24036281
You have to practice essentially proportional representation and hiring you have to treat it.
47
00:05:22,904.24036281 --> 00:05:40,244.24036281
Yeah, well, the proportional representation to it in general is considered at least a first line basis for a lawsuit that any of the major racial groups in the population in your business doesn't match the percentage of that group in the overall national population.
48
00:05:41,694.24036281 --> 00:05:48,804.24036281
So most companies, especially following the EO we're talking about, hire roughly proportionally.
49
00:05:49,134.24036281 --> 00:05:56,114.24036281
Affirmative action comes out of that because group performance on the major standardized board tests, IQ tests, so on, is so different.
50
00:05:56,724.23936281 --> 00:06:13,244.24036281
So, I mean, on the SAT in the most recent year that I've used for research, I'm sure this is Probably not the most recent year, but I mean, you had Asians at 1223 East Asians were probably 80 points above that you had white city, you know, very solid 1114, you had blacks.
51
00:06:13,804.24036281 --> 00:06:14,204.24036281
I don't know.
52
00:06:14,524.24036281 --> 00:06:15,604.24036281
I think blacks were next.
53
00:06:15,604.24036281 --> 00:06:17,104.24036281
Actually, it was 9 60.
54
00:06:17,104.24036281 --> 00:06:20,614.24036281
Something Hispanics natives were at 9 12.
55
00:06:20,774.24036281 --> 00:06:26,154.24036281
I mean, so your islanders beat blacks, but I mean, so you had all these groups performing at these very different levels.
56
00:06:26,154.24036281 --> 00:06:36,964.24036281
And the simple reality is that if you want, I mean, to be almost 4 percent Native American Indians, you'd have to give Native American Indians a 330 point boost or whatever that would be.
57
00:06:37,414.24036281 --> 00:06:44,654.24036281
Over Asian Americans, blacks would get a 150 point boost relative to white.
58
00:06:44,654.24036281 --> 00:06:46,104.24036281
So that's how affirmative action comes in.
59
00:06:46,514.24036281 --> 00:06:48,174.23986281
But Trump basically got rid of all that.
60
00:06:48,174.23986281 --> 00:06:52,904.24036281
I mean, he just said, you don't have to engage in these hiring practices to do business, the federal government.
61
00:06:52,914.24036281 --> 00:06:54,344.23936281
So that's, that was actually very elegant.
62
00:06:54,919.24036281 --> 00:06:57,899.24036281
And a lot of that was almost the Project 2025 stuff.
63
00:06:57,899.24036281 --> 00:07:00,969.24036281
Like, you could tell somebody wrote the EO.
64
00:07:01,379.24036281 --> 00:07:04,749.24036281
Like, there's the one where he, uh, says that every U.
65
00:07:04,749.24036281 --> 00:07:05,9.24036281
S.
66
00:07:05,29.24036281 --> 00:07:10,919.24036281
document that contains the phrase gender identity is going to be rewritten to contain the phrase sex.
67
00:07:11,269.24036281 --> 00:07:17,204.24036281
And this very TERF y definition that I think he got from Wolf, the women, the mainstream feminist organization.
68
00:07:17,514.24036281 --> 00:07:22,884.24036281
Like, so when Trump came in with his allies on board and all those ready, I think he did a really good job.
69
00:07:23,284.24036281 --> 00:07:25,464.24036281
Since then, I think we've been seeing a lot of nonsense.
70
00:07:25,474.24036281 --> 00:07:39,414.24036281
Like, last line, I don't really want to ramble about this, but on Twitter the other day, like, I was just on there sparring with people, and like, serious people like congressmen were proposing, and you can tell the big guy himself had probably thought of the idea, that Trump be placed on the 100 bill.
71
00:07:40,124.24036281 --> 00:07:50,869.24036281
You can still see this if you go on to Twitter or Facebook, like Yeah, like Congressman Ray Isser or whatever, it's a picture of like Trump staring sternly out of the hundred.
72
00:07:51,209.24036281 --> 00:08:03,129.24036281
And the slogans like what we need now in America, that's the kind of crap you don't want Trump getting sidelined in, you know, change the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of Trump or whatever, I mean like that, that sort of stuff we don't.
73
00:08:04,909.24036281 --> 00:08:14,9.24036281
And his statements, I mean, calling Justin Trudeau the governor of the 51st state is funny, but it's really unnecessary and kind of odd for a head of state.
74
00:08:14,279.24036281 --> 00:08:19,364.24036281
Um, so it's There are, there are hard facts on the ground, like 1.
75
00:08:19,364.34036281 --> 00:08:30,854.24036281
1 trillion dollars has come in as new investments in the United States in roughly the first month and a half, which is significant and outpaces previous administrations by orders of magnitude as far as I understand.
76
00:08:31,289.24036281 --> 00:08:37,429.24036281
A lot of that coming from, um, external supplies, um, or external investments, AI investments, and so forth.
77
00:08:37,429.34036281 --> 00:08:43,569.24036281
Um, those are very important things, and I'm, I'm really concerned primarily about economics.
78
00:08:43,659.24036281 --> 00:08:58,709.24036281
Um, and I think this differentiates me from a lot of people who are left of center, as well as a lot of people who are, we might say hard right, where they're focusing on the 100 bills, and naming things, and, you know, owning libs, close quote, and so forth.
79
00:08:59,119.23936281 --> 00:09:02,644.24036281
I'm really concerned about the Present recession.
80
00:09:02,724.24036281 --> 00:09:05,434.24036281
We've been in one technically since July of last year.
81
00:09:05,504.24036281 --> 00:09:07,984.24036281
I don't know if you agree with that, but Tucker agrees with that.
82
00:09:08,204.24036281 --> 00:09:08,754.24036281
I, I do.
83
00:09:08,994.24036281 --> 00:09:10,854.24036281
And he's worried about a double recession.
84
00:09:11,214.24036281 --> 00:09:17,584.24036281
Um, I'm concerned about the average American, um, and their pocketbooks and their ability to maintain a standard of living.
85
00:09:18,34.23936281 --> 00:09:27,474.24036281
Um, what are your concerns in the near term, professor? Your hard line concerns, what you think matters most.
86
00:09:30,329.24036281 --> 00:09:38,669.24036281
Through the United States, I mean, I think that so that's an interesting question, you know, people are talking about serious issues like investment in the country.
87
00:09:38,669.24036281 --> 00:09:45,259.23936281
Other people are talking about these sort of dissident right issues, some of which are quite serious, like mass migration.
88
00:09:45,299.23936281 --> 00:09:45,849.24036281
Others are.
89
00:09:46,109.24036281 --> 00:09:50,89.24036281
What are we going to name the mountains? Trump actually did rename the mountains, by the way.
90
00:09:50,89.24036281 --> 00:09:51,809.24036281
He renamed Denali Mount McKinley.
91
00:09:51,809.24036281 --> 00:09:52,829.24036281
This became a two day wonder.
92
00:09:53,389.24036281 --> 00:10:04,109.23936281
Um, I think that most of the issues that I would be concerned about are long time kind of human flourishing issues, if I really had to think about this.
93
00:10:04,119.24036281 --> 00:10:05,739.24036281
So number one would probably be the debt.
94
00:10:06,589.24036281 --> 00:10:08,889.24036281
I mean, so all of these are going to be like of this kind.
95
00:10:08,889.24036281 --> 00:10:16,419.24036281
I mean, I think I've said some of these before, like the number one issue for the USA is the fact that we're 30 trillion dollars in debt or whatever it is.
96
00:10:17,89.24036281 --> 00:10:26,659.24036281
Like we treat this as though it's not a reality because the Chinese are 10 trillion dollars in debt to us and the Renminbi is pegged to the dollar, but all that means is that we can destroy each other.
97
00:10:26,659.24036281 --> 00:10:32,289.23936281
I mean, at some point you do have to pay back these, these massive investments of money.
98
00:10:32,819.24036281 --> 00:10:41,119.23936281
Um, you know, mass migration, I don't think inherently is a problem, but the combination of mass migration and climate change would probably be somewhere in the top 10.
99
00:10:41,769.24036281 --> 00:10:42,669.23986281
What, what is the U.
100
00:10:42,669.23986281 --> 00:10:42,849.23936281
S.
101
00:10:42,849.24036281 --> 00:10:46,699.23936281
national, so I guess you'd actually do three X's there in terms of an interaction term.
102
00:10:46,699.24036281 --> 00:10:50,9.24036281
So there's mass migration, climate change, and then our refusal to assimilate.
103
00:10:51,249.24036281 --> 00:10:52,339.24036281
Following woke.
104
00:10:52,569.24036281 --> 00:10:53,249.24036281
So what's the U.
105
00:10:53,249.24036281 --> 00:10:53,409.24036281
S.
106
00:10:53,409.24036281 --> 00:10:53,489.24036281
A.
107
00:10:53,529.24036281 --> 00:11:00,659.24036281
Going to look like in 100 years? I don't really think it would matter much of most people at my skin tone instead of yours.
108
00:11:00,669.23936281 --> 00:11:03,149.23936281
And we're both sitting here wearing sweaters and so on.
109
00:11:03,149.24036281 --> 00:11:14,129.24036281
But I mean, like, the question is, are those people going to have any kind of core American ideals given what we're currently teaching and so on? So the press of migration would be one of my concerns.
110
00:11:14,149.24036281 --> 00:11:21,329.24036281
The debt Um, baseline baseline things like nuclear weaponry in the background, the USA and the Russians never got rid of the bombs.
111
00:11:21,779.24036281 --> 00:11:27,259.24036281
You know, I read a horrible piece in one of the kind of defense intelligence quarterly type publications the other day.
112
00:11:27,259.24036281 --> 00:11:28,459.24036281
We're not maintaining them.
113
00:11:29,119.23936281 --> 00:11:37,59.24036281
So we actually have all these nuclear weapons sort of leaking and bunkers in Utah, you know, that we're going to have to deal with at some point.
114
00:11:37,59.24036281 --> 00:11:40,909.24036281
So my, my core issues would all be things of this kind, like the nuclear arsenal.
115
00:11:41,324.24036281 --> 00:11:44,684.24036281
Uh, the amount of money we owe to foreign enemies, migration.
116
00:11:44,984.24036281 --> 00:11:47,304.24036281
Uh, a fourth one I'll throw out there would be the birth rate.
117
00:11:48,294.24036281 --> 00:11:53,284.23936281
Like the Western white led countries aren't reproducing at all.
118
00:11:53,614.24036281 --> 00:11:56,694.24036281
Um, you know, I don't have kids myself.
119
00:11:56,704.23936281 --> 00:11:59,284.24036281
This is something I've got like a three year window to have like two kids.
120
00:11:59,324.23936281 --> 00:12:01,724.24036281
I mean, it's a transactional way to look at it, but I don't think I'm going to.
121
00:12:02,214.24036281 --> 00:12:07,684.24036281
But I mean, this is a common decision I find friends of mine, businesswomen and so on making at like 38.
122
00:12:08,104.24036281 --> 00:12:10,334.24036281
And that, that's really not ideal.
123
00:12:10,819.24036281 --> 00:12:16,989.24036281
But I mean, it's better than the alternative, which is just not, I mean, so like the upper middle class, Western American birth rates, like 1.
124
00:12:17,19.24036281 --> 00:12:19,79.24036281
01, obviously 2.
125
00:12:19,109.24036281 --> 00:12:27,649.24036281
2 is the replacement, right? Yeah, that's one of the reasons that I thought that maybe mass migration could actually be medicinal for the United States, because we're just not having kids.
126
00:12:28,39.23936281 --> 00:12:29,709.24036281
One second, I gotta close my window.
127
00:12:29,779.23936281 --> 00:12:38,939.24036281
I'm, uh, in the light, you watch, you know? There are Indian heritage where I don't do well in the light.
128
00:12:40,229.24036281 --> 00:12:41,839.23936281
I look like a fucking vampire.
129
00:12:42,309.24036281 --> 00:12:42,559.24036281
So.
130
00:12:43,494.24036281 --> 00:12:54,344.24036281
Yeah, I was, uh, thinking that, uh, if you want to get conspiratorial about it, maybe the borders have been porous and open because the powers that be know that we're not reproducing and we need new consumer units.
131
00:12:54,574.24036281 --> 00:12:55,994.23936281
But that's a little conspiratorial.
132
00:12:56,104.23936281 --> 00:13:00,509.24036281
You were saying regarding the same issue? I think there's an element of truth to that.
133
00:13:00,519.24036281 --> 00:13:06,19.24036281
But the question is like, where are the conspiracy cuts? Because the powers that be have also been telling us not to have kids.
134
00:13:06,469.23936281 --> 00:13:15,529.23936281
Like I remember throughout my entire life, people trying to scare me about sex, and I don't think that was entirely a coincidence.
135
00:13:15,529.23936281 --> 00:13:17,484.14036281
I mean, so there was this Baptist like me.
136
00:13:18,274.24036281 --> 00:13:20,364.24036281
No, but I mean, like, quite outside of the church.
137
00:13:20,364.24036281 --> 00:13:26,44.24036281
I mean, I guess my church would be Catholic or AME, thinking of the family African Methodist Episcopal, but that applies to black church.
138
00:13:26,374.24036281 --> 00:13:29,534.24036281
But I mean, like, the preacher's supposed to do that.
139
00:13:29,554.24036281 --> 00:13:32,504.23936281
Like, what are you kids doing after prom? That's their role in society.
140
00:13:32,844.24036281 --> 00:13:38,234.24036281
But no, like, mainstream institutions were, I remember the Western heterosexual AIDS crisis.
141
00:13:38,954.24036281 --> 00:13:45,314.24036281
Where people were talking about how, you know, this disease doesn't much care who you are, to quote Molly Ivins.
142
00:13:45,814.24036281 --> 00:13:49,694.23936281
And, you know, Ryan White was on television talking about how he received AIDS.
143
00:13:49,694.24036281 --> 00:13:54,184.23986281
Just, he was dealing with hemophilia, and he got one transfusion of blood.
144
00:13:54,184.23986281 --> 00:13:55,794.24036281
It was his first, and that's all it took.
145
00:13:56,294.24036281 --> 00:14:05,944.23936281
You know, I knew people in high school that were refusing to date for a period of like six months, or turning down, let's say, specific forms of sex with Catholic school girlfriends, because that's how it spreads.
146
00:14:05,944.24036281 --> 00:14:07,414.24036281
Man, you know, look at Magic Johnson.
147
00:14:07,834.24036281 --> 00:14:13,714.24036281
And this went on and on, uh, throughout, uh, much of a later life.
148
00:14:13,714.24036281 --> 00:14:19,374.24036281
I mean, the panic about teen pregnancy, that you can have it all stuff directed at business women.
149
00:14:19,374.24036281 --> 00:14:25,254.23986281
Like you don't want to ruin your life by having a kid too early, make partner at 40 and then have two kids.
150
00:14:25,254.23986281 --> 00:14:35,364.24036281
I mean, people used to have the shirts, you know, and I, I think gradually you realize, of course, that, I mean, peak human fertility, it's awkward to talk about is, you know, upper middle class males, but it's 23.
151
00:14:35,794.34036281 --> 00:14:37,684.14036281
24.
152
00:14:37,944.24036281 --> 00:14:55,564.23936281
So this, this narrative has been promoted our entire life and that's why people aren't having kids and as you see the effects of that in the Caucasian community, upper middle class black community across the native born population, that's when I think you started seeing a huge focus on mass migration.
153
00:14:55,574.24036281 --> 00:14:57,14.24036281
Like, well, we've got to do something.
154
00:14:57,474.24036281 --> 00:15:02,914.24036281
So I think if there's a conspiracy there, it's even sketchier than well, they realized they need new consumer units.
155
00:15:02,914.24036281 --> 00:15:03,584.24036281
It's sort of.
156
00:15:03,584.34036281 --> 00:15:03,759.14036281
Okay.
157
00:15:03,989.24036281 --> 00:15:08,499.24036281
Well, we're kind of tired of some of these recalcitrant people that we have in the United States.
158
00:15:08,509.24036281 --> 00:15:13,399.24036281
Like, if we, we need to import new serfs, would be, would be the take there.
159
00:15:14,339.24036281 --> 00:15:16,429.24036281
Um, and yeah, that, that's something I worry about.
160
00:15:16,429.24036281 --> 00:15:29,229.23936281
Like, I don't, I don't think there'd be any problem at all with importing the Latin American middle class, honestly, given the system that was in place when the Irish and Italian middle classes were coming to the USA.
161
00:15:29,984.24036281 --> 00:15:53,204.24036281
Like somewhat brutal assimilation Uh a really shared core national identity military service for men that kind of thing But we've moved away from that to a point where yeah There probably will be some issues if we're uh, we're split 50 50 white and poc And many people lack any sort of national identity in, in a couple of decades.
162
00:15:54,174.24036281 --> 00:15:55,164.24036281
What a grim story.
163
00:15:55,394.24036281 --> 00:16:08,604.24036281
What about, uh, the idea of a gold card that Trump has instituted 5 million to buy your way to the United States to pay off our debt and import people, uh, who have assets and, and wherewithal.
164
00:16:09,764.24036281 --> 00:16:14,994.24036281
Actually for that, I mean, I don't, I think that's one of those things that you're supposed to be against on some kind of vague moral grounds.
165
00:16:15,14.24036281 --> 00:16:16,124.24036281
Nah, I support it.
166
00:16:16,134.24036281 --> 00:16:20,214.24036281
Which is weird because it's the same thing that New Zealand does as well as Switzerland.
167
00:16:20,334.24036281 --> 00:16:24,274.24036281
It costs something like 300, 000 minimum to get into Switzerland.
168
00:16:26,14.24036281 --> 00:16:27,204.24036281
That's what a lot of countries do.
169
00:16:27,244.24036281 --> 00:16:38,344.23936281
I mean, no, but I mean like the, the basic idea that you can just as a person of any background immigrate to any country is a very new world phenomenon.
170
00:16:38,794.23936281 --> 00:16:43,904.2393628
And once when I had a class full of very woke students and a political science course, I actually had them test this.
171
00:16:44,424.2403628 --> 00:16:53,304.2403628
So, I mean, we're in, you know, the capital city of one of the major states, you know, then everyone has a phone, DC is, you know, two seconds away by dial.
172
00:16:53,674.2403628 --> 00:17:06,284.2393628
I had them contact a couple of embassies and ask, you know, what would it take to move to India? You know, I'm a graduate student at a state university and people were explicitly polite, but it was like, well, you'd either have to pay us a million dollars or you'd have to be ethnically Indian.
173
00:17:06,944.2403628 --> 00:17:16,704.2393628
What do you mean by ethnically Indian? Well, we mean brown and of the Shatria caste from the provinces of, you know, Gujarat or Rissa or like it was, it was very bluntly explained.
174
00:17:17,224.2393628 --> 00:17:23,924.2403628
So the basic idea that you have to contribute something to the country or be part of the founding stock of the country is.
175
00:17:24,314.2403628 --> 00:17:30,374.2403628
Extremely common globally, uh, in the United States, like we obviously have the green card process.
176
00:17:30,384.2403628 --> 00:17:41,334.2393628
Still, if you don't have the 5 million, it's not just going to be rich people, but if you've got 5 million bucks, or I would add a recently patented invention, I don't, I don't see any reason why we wouldn't let you jump to the front of the line.
177
00:17:41,334.2413628 --> 00:17:43,704.2403628
You're obviously a contributor and come here and start a business.
178
00:17:44,174.2403628 --> 00:17:49,74.2403628
The one thing that's clearly going to happen, of course, is we're going to get a lot of dope dealers and Chinese spies and so on.
179
00:17:49,74.2403628 --> 00:17:53,324.2403628
You're going to have to vet the ranks of these people very, very closely.
180
00:17:53,804.2403628 --> 00:18:07,4.2403628
How did you get your money? You know, Mr Wang, you know, like you can't pay in dollar bills coming in, right? Yeah, you can't, you gotta, there's gotta, you can't untraceable and transfers from cartago.
181
00:18:08,274.2403628 --> 00:18:13,724.2403628
I mean, like you, there would have to be some way of verifying that people are who they say they are.
182
00:18:13,724.3403628 --> 00:18:17,634.2403628
You'd have to look at the kind of paper they were using if they're coming from Latin America.
183
00:18:17,664.2403628 --> 00:18:18,314.1403628
I mean, okay.
184
00:18:18,774.2403628 --> 00:18:51,904.2403628
185
00:18:51,904.2403628 --> 00:18:54,784.2403628
He's a good guy and a good, good, uh, good scholar.
186
00:18:54,804.2403628 --> 00:18:57,474.2403628
Um, yeah, so that's, that's pretty much correct.
187
00:18:57,694.2403628 --> 00:19:00,704.2403628
I, no, I, I, again, 60 billion isn't nothing.
188
00:19:00,714.2403628 --> 00:19:03,414.2403628
I mean, even for Elon Musk, that's a good, like, two weeks work.
189
00:19:03,774.2403628 --> 00:19:06,944.2393628
But I don't think a lot of people understand how the budget works.
190
00:19:07,344.2403628 --> 00:19:10,144.2403628
So the United States budget is on the order of 6 trillion.
191
00:19:11,444.2403628 --> 00:19:15,24.2403628
And most of the budget is what's called relatively uncontrollable spending.
192
00:19:15,489.2403628 --> 00:19:18,99.2403628
I mean, it's the social security quote unquote lockbox.
193
00:19:18,119.2403628 --> 00:19:25,349.2403628
It's Medicare, Medicaid, regular welfare, which breaks out into Section 8, SNAP, which is food stamps.
194
00:19:25,359.2403628 --> 00:19:27,619.2403628
All these, these preset programs.
195
00:19:28,9.2403628 --> 00:19:29,259.2403628
Then it's defense.
196
00:19:29,559.2403628 --> 00:19:40,199.2403628
And then once you get through social security, I eat a lockbox, Medicare, Medicaid, welfare and defense, you get everything else, which is you might correct me, but 14 percent of the budget, something like that.
197
00:19:40,379.2403628 --> 00:19:41,989.2403628
Oh, there's also debt service.
198
00:19:42,229.2393628 --> 00:19:46,999.2403628
So after you get through the things I just described, 11 percent of the budget is paying the interest on our debt.
199
00:19:47,419.2403628 --> 00:19:54,779.2393628
So anything that's built up on a bearer bond you hold, which is technically us debt, anything we owe to the Chinese, so on down the line.
200
00:19:55,389.2403628 --> 00:20:01,599.2403628
Um, and after that, again, you get back to 12 or 14 percent that's spent on everything else.
201
00:20:01,989.2403628 --> 00:20:07,59.2403628
So when people talk about government waste, they're talking entirely about the everything else category.
202
00:20:07,539.2403628 --> 00:20:25,999.2403628
And it's fun to go into the everything else category and find out that we're running homosexual llama farms in Kosovo or something like that, but that, that's never Where the majority of the money is going to come from we're never going to spend that much on homosexual llama farming It's so like to get really we discriminate.
203
00:20:26,9.2393628 --> 00:20:27,179.2393628
That's why we don't spend more.
204
00:20:27,219.2393628 --> 00:20:27,999.2403628
But anyways, go ahead.
205
00:20:28,319.2403628 --> 00:20:33,189.2403628
Yeah, that's right If those are those are straight llamas Then white fur.
206
00:20:33,669.2403628 --> 00:20:43,709.2403628
Yeah Disgusting what's going on? But anyway, but like all that stuff like they're I remember one of the things Elon cut, and I actually follow Elon on Twitter.
207
00:20:43,709.2403628 --> 00:20:44,779.2403628
He follows me, in fact.
208
00:20:45,89.2403628 --> 00:20:48,709.2403628
So I was able to hear about some of this on a blow by blow, uh, kind of basis.
209
00:20:49,49.2403628 --> 00:20:53,829.2403628
But like, one of the things they cut was like a 75, 000 for a transgender comic book in Peru.
210
00:20:54,369.2393628 --> 00:20:59,764.1403628
And it's kind of funny, you know, that's a crazy amount of money to spend on a transgender comic book in Peru.
211
00:21:00,224.2403628 --> 00:21:04,154.2403628
You know, it costs maybe 10 cents an issue to print a book, even to the level of DC or Marvel.
212
00:21:04,154.2403628 --> 00:21:05,834.2403628
There's some kid partying down there, probably.
213
00:21:05,834.3403628 --> 00:21:08,344.2393628
I spend a dollar on a comp book in Perth.
214
00:21:08,674.2403628 --> 00:21:11,54.2393628
And that's the argument, right? Absolutely, yeah.
215
00:21:11,304.2403628 --> 00:21:16,444.2393628
But I mean, there's a secondary level of 75, 000 is a mediocre job.
216
00:21:16,464.2393628 --> 00:21:19,714.2403628
It's not for one person for one year.
217
00:21:19,714.2403628 --> 00:21:24,434.2403628
It's not really, that's not what the majority of our budget spend is going on.
218
00:21:24,704.2403628 --> 00:21:27,794.2403628
So yeah, Elon has cut billions of dollars worth of that kind of thing.
219
00:21:27,794.2403628 --> 00:21:29,164.2403628
I mean, basically good for him.
220
00:21:29,174.2403628 --> 00:21:29,724.2403628
But.
221
00:21:30,99.2403628 --> 00:21:31,879.2403628
Yeah, it's not going to make an impact.
222
00:21:32,129.2403628 --> 00:21:43,259.2403628
The other thing with that is that when you make those kind of cuts and they go deep at all, so he really did get rid of a lot of USAID, Trump proved that would close the doors of a lot of USAID missions.
223
00:21:43,859.2403628 --> 00:21:46,419.2393628
There are also real things that go along with that.
224
00:21:46,419.2413628 --> 00:21:50,59.2403628
And you can say this is kind of hostage puppy in the old business school scenario.
225
00:21:50,414.2403628 --> 00:21:51,874.2403628
But the real things are there.
226
00:21:52,474.2403628 --> 00:21:59,714.2393628
So, like, right now, as I understand, we're no longer, and I understand this from people that are on the ground in other countries, we're no longer running PREPFAR, which is the U.
227
00:21:59,714.2393628 --> 00:21:59,824.2393628
S.
228
00:21:59,824.2403628 --> 00:22:00,894.2393628
Anti AIDS Program.
229
00:22:01,984.2403628 --> 00:22:04,644.2403628
And this, this is established under, uh, Mr.
230
00:22:04,684.2403628 --> 00:22:05,444.2398628
Bush, George W.
231
00:22:05,444.2398628 --> 00:22:05,854.2393628
Bush.
232
00:22:06,344.2403628 --> 00:22:09,404.2393628
And basically, we're giving PREP at third world prices.
233
00:22:09,424.2393628 --> 00:22:11,904.2403628
PREP is the HIV antiviral.
234
00:22:11,904.2403628 --> 00:22:13,874.2403628
Like, if you take it, you're probably not going to get AIDS.
235
00:22:13,874.3403628 --> 00:22:16,264.2403628
If you have HIV, you're not going to get full blown AIDS.
236
00:22:16,964.2403628 --> 00:22:25,64.2393628
Um, we were giving this to a large number of people in high risk regions of Africa, like African prostitutes, male truck drivers, this kind of thing.
237
00:22:25,534.2403628 --> 00:22:29,394.2393628
And as a result, probably millions of people have not contracted AIDS.
238
00:22:29,404.2403628 --> 00:22:33,864.2398628
So HIV transmission rates are down from 30 percent or whatever they were at their peak.
239
00:22:33,864.2398628 --> 00:22:36,64.2413628
I'm not an epidemiologist to say 10%.
240
00:22:36,694.2403628 --> 00:22:41,964.2403628
And this is, this is very beneficial because West African immigrants to the United States are actually really high performing.
241
00:22:42,244.2403628 --> 00:22:45,534.2403628
But one problem with that group was that they used to have a very high HIV rate.
242
00:22:45,544.2403628 --> 00:22:45,854.2393628
Now they don't.
243
00:22:47,4.2403628 --> 00:22:53,774.2403628
So if you have a whole bunch of people coming over here that are going to be doctors, you don't want them to have AIDS in the hospital.
244
00:22:53,964.2403628 --> 00:22:57,734.2403628
Like there are practical reasons you don't want a lot of people to have AIDS.
245
00:22:58,114.2403628 --> 00:23:01,964.2393628
So I mean, we, we are, we ended up cutting this program.
246
00:23:01,964.2403628 --> 00:23:03,44.2403628
I think this is the point.
247
00:23:03,514.2403628 --> 00:23:05,364.2398628
And now we're kind of figuring out what to do.
248
00:23:05,364.2398628 --> 00:23:14,564.2403628
I mean, are we going to reinstate just that as opposed to the rest of USAID? So when you come in there, like Elon actually did the old CEO meme where he was holding a chainsaw.
249
00:23:15,44.2403628 --> 00:23:22,124.2403628
When you come in there like a chainsaw Jim Duggan or whatever, like the CEO for GE back in the day, you make a lot of these mistakes.
250
00:23:22,124.2403628 --> 00:23:31,234.2403628
And the question is, can you, can you fix them? Yeah, I thought that that, um, that the chainsaw antics are sort of like Trump off teleprompter, totally unnecessary.
251
00:23:31,514.2403628 --> 00:23:40,234.2403628
You don't need to go down to Argentina, have Javier Mele give you a chrome chainsaw, and then have a WWE style hat, trucker hat, and some, uh, Ray Bans on.
252
00:23:40,534.2403628 --> 00:23:44,914.2403628
You know, my thought was, Elon, put on a suit, sit down.
253
00:23:45,54.2403628 --> 00:23:49,384.2403628
Talk reasonably, look like you're a statesman, don't freak people out.
254
00:23:49,654.2403628 --> 00:23:51,514.2403628
Um, so that's one thing.
255
00:23:51,524.2403628 --> 00:24:06,44.2403628
And what about your thoughts on the war on Ukraine and the blow up in the oval office this past week between Zelensky and Trump and Vance? Well, I think this is another one of those of just like, sorry.
256
00:24:07,774.2403628 --> 00:24:33,724.2403628
257
00:24:34,4.2403628 --> 00:24:37,14.2393628
Like, so they're, they're trying to give these backdoor security assurances.
258
00:24:37,14.2393628 --> 00:24:46,804.2403628
If you watch the full 42 minutes to Zelinsky saying, look, you didn't bribe us, but we wanted something as payment for us involvement, we got that.
259
00:24:47,974.2403628 --> 00:24:51,274.2403628
And we got that.
260
00:24:51,314.2403628 --> 00:24:57,254.2393628
And so we're going to be working very closely with Ukraine in the near future.
261
00:24:57,954.2403628 --> 00:25:00,824.2403628
And Zelensky just kind of isn't accepting that.
262
00:25:00,834.2403628 --> 00:25:03,934.2403628
Like, I get the feeling he wants a very explicit guarantee.
263
00:25:04,924.2403628 --> 00:25:10,224.2398628
And he also seems to have some other issues with the full conversation.
264
00:25:10,224.2398628 --> 00:25:19,254.2403628
So he's saying, for example, that, uh, what did, what are all the things he said in that conversation? We need to, we're not going to make any deals with a killer.
265
00:25:20,9.2403628 --> 00:25:24,119.2403628
We need to keep Europe fully involved in, in this conversation.
266
00:25:24,559.2403628 --> 00:25:26,39.2403628
We're not giving up anything.
267
00:25:26,129.2403628 --> 00:25:32,739.2393628
So I think Zelensky is kind of saying what he's been saying through the, the entire process of the war.
268
00:25:33,349.2403628 --> 00:25:39,529.2403628
And he finally begins to get hostile with Trump and Vance when he realizes, well, this probably isn't going to going to work.
269
00:25:39,989.2403628 --> 00:25:44,449.2403628
And that's when they start yelling back and forth and he gets, uh, frankly tossed out of the meeting.
270
00:25:45,139.2403628 --> 00:25:48,439.2403628
Um, I don't think it was a good performance by any of them.
271
00:25:48,439.2403628 --> 00:25:50,129.2403628
That's stuff you work out beforehand.
272
00:25:50,969.2403628 --> 00:26:01,949.2403628
But you know, Zelensky goal was kind of going in there and closing this deal and showing he had continued support from his large ally and he was the guy who didn't do that.
273
00:26:01,949.2403628 --> 00:26:03,689.2403628
So, I mean, a, a large chunk of that is on him.
274
00:26:04,529.2403628 --> 00:26:10,919.2403628
He did try to strong, it's some like eye issue here, but look, you wanna take it? No, it's pretty much through now.
275
00:26:10,919.2403628 --> 00:26:11,489.2403628
Just blinking a lot.
276
00:26:12,699.2403628 --> 00:26:13,709.2403628
So, I agree with you.
277
00:26:13,709.2403628 --> 00:26:17,939.2403628
I thought that Zelensky was very passive aggressive at first, and then became aggressive.
278
00:26:18,99.2403628 --> 00:26:22,299.2403628
He almost seemed to, uh, believe that he could strong arm Trump in public.
279
00:26:22,799.2403628 --> 00:26:31,259.2403628
Taking no account, apparently, as to who Trump is, which is an entirely disagreeable recalcitrant man, who does not like to be leveraged at all.
280
00:26:31,389.2403628 --> 00:26:33,59.2403628
That's totally against his ethos.
281
00:26:33,864.2403628 --> 00:26:42,944.2403628
That being said, um, you know, it had terrible optics, the meeting, you know, that, um, they were all shouting at each other and, and Trump is saying, you don't have the cards and so forth.
282
00:26:42,954.2403628 --> 00:27:05,964.2403628
283
00:27:06,794.2403628 --> 00:27:08,624.2403628
That's the way it would have been done in the past.
284
00:27:08,624.2403628 --> 00:27:17,944.2403628
Y'all would meet, uh, behind closed doors, come to an arrangement and an agreement, and then present the sort of coiffed veneer to the cameras.
285
00:27:18,154.2393628 --> 00:27:24,634.2393628
They didn't do that, which some people like, but I think most people are not prepared to view that kind of raw footage that way.
286
00:27:24,634.2393628 --> 00:27:26,854.2403628
It's very destabilizing psychologically.
287
00:27:29,69.2403628 --> 00:27:39,779.2393628
Yeah, that was the, that was the thing that struck me the most like, I mean, my fiance described it as amateur hour where you, the basic idea of three guys yelling at each other in a meeting.
288
00:27:39,839.2403628 --> 00:27:48,9.2403628
I mean, we've seen this in meetings, not there's nothing straight striking about it, but you're talking about a situation here where perhaps a million people have died in this war so far.
289
00:27:48,649.2403628 --> 00:28:02,389.2393628
And your, the question is, can you guys arrive at this deal? Involving rare earth minerals and security guarantees and all of these other things and then present it to the cameras if you can't, why is there a press conference? Right.
290
00:28:02,389.2403628 --> 00:28:09,909.2393628
What are what are all these people who themselves are very important lead reporters from? Well, none of them are part, but I mean, lead reporters, NBC and so on.
291
00:28:09,909.2413628 --> 00:28:12,479.2403628
What are they doing there? So, I mean.
292
00:28:12,649.2403628 --> 00:28:15,149.2403628
You'd assume that all the shouting would have been worked out beforehand.
293
00:28:15,159.2403628 --> 00:28:17,519.2403628
You'd assume that they would know what they were going to say.
294
00:28:17,519.2403628 --> 00:28:23,709.2403628
They'd all have a little notepad in their hands and they would do this for 20 or 30 minutes and do bunny hug each other.
295
00:28:23,709.2403628 --> 00:28:26,459.2403628
And then they would close the conference.
296
00:28:26,469.2393628 --> 00:28:29,119.2393628
So yeah, it was, it was surprising to see that not happen.
297
00:28:29,599.2403628 --> 00:28:32,879.2403628
I actually suspect Zelensky probably had his notes.
298
00:28:32,879.2403628 --> 00:28:41,749.2398628
I mean, there's been some speculation behind the scenes that Zelensky knew what he was going to do and then was contacted by advisors in Europe and on the U.
299
00:28:41,749.2398628 --> 00:28:41,979.2393628
S.
300
00:28:41,979.2403628 --> 00:28:44,199.2393628
left and told not to do it.
301
00:28:44,419.2393628 --> 00:28:46,339.2403628
I haven't seen any proof of that.
302
00:28:46,339.2403628 --> 00:28:47,649.2398628
It's come from people like P.
303
00:28:47,649.2398628 --> 00:28:47,809.2393628
T.
304
00:28:47,819.2393628 --> 00:28:49,69.2393628
Keenan online.
305
00:28:49,634.2403628 --> 00:28:55,904.2403628
Uh, who I know are in relationships with or have contact with people who have been in past administrations, but who aren't themselves.
306
00:28:56,184.2403628 --> 00:28:59,914.2403628
So, I mean, I'd have to see some, some verification of that.
307
00:29:00,264.2393628 --> 00:29:12,554.2403628
But the idea is someone contacted Zelensky, Zelensky was told, you know, the world is with you, don't give in, and he then grandstanded a little bit, and Trump said, well, no, I mean, we actually had a deal.
308
00:29:13,84.2403628 --> 00:29:14,304.2403628
We were going to sign the deal.
309
00:29:14,304.2403628 --> 00:29:15,994.2403628
That's what this conference is for and throw them out.
310
00:29:16,834.2403628 --> 00:29:21,854.2403628
So, I mean, if that is true, that explains a little of it, but, but yeah, the other nest optics are.
311
00:29:22,719.3028628 --> 00:29:29,809.3028628
Interesting, uh, that he would believe that, because the assurances given by Keir Starmer were nothing short of bizarre this past weekend.
312
00:29:29,819.3028628 --> 00:29:33,249.3028628
Like, he wants Irish and English boots on the ground in Ukraine.
313
00:29:33,469.3028628 --> 00:29:40,999.3028628
Just for reference, I believe the UK has around 50, 000 standing infantrymen, which is about the same size as the military of, um, Algeria.
314
00:29:41,529.3018628 --> 00:29:49,129.3028628
Uh, the idea that they're gonna go and, and make a, a resistance in, in Ukraine with the Ukrainians is, is Totally bizarre.
315
00:29:49,929.3028628 --> 00:29:56,879.3023628
I guess Ukraine could rely on, on the EU, were they to replace the amount of money that the United States is piping in.
316
00:29:56,879.3023628 --> 00:30:11,889.3028628
But I don't think they're inclined to do that, do you? No, I mean, so like what this reminds me of, I was a while ago, I watched one of the old DC Justice League movies where Superman dies and the opening portion of the movie.
317
00:30:11,889.3028628 --> 00:30:12,959.3028628
And there's a point to this.
318
00:30:13,139.3028628 --> 00:30:25,439.3028628
The opening portion of the movie is the rest of the Justice League who are also impressive, but much weaker in terms of their, their magic powers or whatever you like getting really aggressive and doing superhero shit.
319
00:30:25,439.3028628 --> 00:30:28,439.3028628
And they eventually end up pissing off one of the ancient gods.
320
00:30:28,854.3028628 --> 00:30:55,609.3028628
321
00:30:55,609.3028628 --> 00:30:57,19.3028628
We don't need the USA for that.
322
00:30:57,359.3028628 --> 00:31:02,79.3028628
Like there, there is that feeling of like the secondary superheroes are now piling in.
323
00:31:02,649.3028628 --> 00:31:09,139.3028628
I personally think Russia with, you know, 20, 000 troops from China or North Korea could probably beat all of them.
324
00:31:09,969.3028628 --> 00:31:12,59.3028628
I mean, I don't, I don't actually, I don't know if that's true.
325
00:31:12,69.3018628 --> 00:31:14,889.3028628
Russia's already hung up in Ukraine and barely winning that war.
326
00:31:15,69.3028628 --> 00:31:27,339.3018628
So they, they have a second power that they're dealing with, but I don't know if the EU countries really want an on the ground war in Eastern Europe that would extend into next winter.
327
00:31:27,339.3028628 --> 00:31:28,899.3028628
I think that would be a simpler way of putting it.
328
00:31:28,909.3018628 --> 00:31:29,729.3018628
Whoever wins.
329
00:31:30,149.3028628 --> 00:31:35,49.3028628
I don't really see Britain, France, Spain, and so on having a lot of enthusiasm for that.
330
00:31:35,789.3028628 --> 00:31:43,829.3028628
The obvious objection to any kind of ceasefire extended ceasefire and then deal would be that it just emboldens countries like Russia to take over.
331
00:31:44,389.3028628 --> 00:31:49,639.3028628
Tracks of land in neighboring countries and then reach a ceasefire to permanently claim them.
332
00:31:50,19.3028628 --> 00:31:54,519.3023628
And so, but however, this is where we are and I think Trump is such a pragmatist.
333
00:31:54,519.3023628 --> 00:32:01,739.3018628
He's such a materialist being that he's saying, look, this has already happened and it's not getting reversed and it's a mistake and a foible.
334
00:32:01,899.3028628 --> 00:32:03,969.3028628
We've got to end it now and cut our losses.
335
00:32:04,319.3028628 --> 00:32:07,379.3028628
Um, whether you agree with that or not, I think that is his position.
336
00:32:07,379.3028628 --> 00:32:10,639.3028628
So, um, Let's let's call it here.
337
00:32:10,669.3028628 --> 00:32:11,19.3028628
Dr.
338
00:32:11,19.3028628 --> 00:32:11,569.3028628
Riley.
339
00:32:11,649.3028628 --> 00:32:31,219.3018628
340
00:32:31,219.3018628 --> 00:32:31,409.3018628
Dr.
341
00:32:31,459.3028628 --> 00:32:31,869.3028628
Riley.
342
00:32:33,119.3028628 --> 00:32:33,259.3028628
All right.
343
00:32:33,259.3028628 --> 00:32:34,389.3028628
Thanks a lot as always.
