WEBVTT
00:00:00.022 --> 00:00:00.412
everybody.
00:00:00.412 --> 00:00:09.803
This is on screen, off screen, the show where I like to talk about our media intake, uh, for the previous week, how it affects us and how what we're watching is impacted by how we're doing.
00:00:10.313 --> 00:00:13.073
We have all three of us together this week.
00:00:13.073 --> 00:00:26.242
We've got Conlan who's awesome at being persistent and uh, is an idol of perseverance and Lauren, of course, is the greatest of all time.
00:00:26.483 --> 00:00:29.213
Lauren, Sam Wise over here.
00:00:29.213 --> 00:00:30.292
It's freaking awesome.
00:00:31.013 --> 00:00:32.633
Love having these guys.
00:00:33.412 --> 00:00:40.732
I am in particular very excited for this episode and I would like to talk about Klan's topic first.
00:00:40.732 --> 00:00:49.133
'cause this is a movie I still have not watched, even though it's been like nine months and I've been looking forward to it coming out and just still haven't watched this.
00:00:49.137 --> 00:00:49.347
What do you got?
00:00:50.566 --> 00:00:56.985
So I have bring her back uh, I have watched a lot of horror movies, like a lot, a lot, a lot of horror movies.
00:00:57.316 --> 00:01:00.826
And it's very, very rare for a horror movie to make me cringe.
00:01:01.515 --> 00:01:10.365
But there is a part where this demon kid, um, he, he gets possessed throughout the movie and it becomes more and more intense.
00:01:10.365 --> 00:01:18.436
And this is a spoiler, but he starts hurting himself and he like stabs his arm and cuts it open.
00:01:18.615 --> 00:01:25.486
But there's a part where he chews on a wooden table and he teeth are like cracking as he's chewing on the table.
00:01:25.665 --> 00:01:33.525
And it was like, Lauren, you should never watch this movie ever, ever, ever, never watch this movie ever.
00:01:35.085 --> 00:01:35.536
Um,
00:01:35.605 --> 00:01:35.956
Noted.
00:01:36.046 --> 00:01:40.876
were multiple parts where I was like, wow, you guys, you guys did that?
00:01:41.085 --> 00:01:42.915
And I don't think that this.
00:01:44.281 --> 00:01:45.721
I don't think this movie's as good.
00:01:45.721 --> 00:01:49.891
It's not as complete of a film as the other one.
00:01:50.977 --> 00:01:51.668
Talk to me.
00:01:51.870 --> 00:01:52.171
to me.
00:01:52.531 --> 00:01:54.120
Talk to me, I think is a better film.
00:01:55.501 --> 00:01:57.811
This one, a more complete film.
00:01:58.051 --> 00:02:04.501
This one has a little, some little plot holes that I'm like, ah, that could have been a little bit better, particularly with the way that it ends.
00:02:04.740 --> 00:02:07.771
So, Josh, do you, do you care if I spoil it?
00:02:07.771 --> 00:02:08.491
Do you want me not to?
00:02:08.491 --> 00:02:08.790
What?
00:02:08.941 --> 00:02:09.330
Okay.
00:02:09.811 --> 00:02:16.711
So this mother who is fantastic, she plays, acts so well, like it's, it's crazy.
00:02:17.010 --> 00:02:18.300
It's by it.
00:02:18.721 --> 00:02:20.161
Sally Hawkins.
00:02:20.371 --> 00:02:22.561
Sally Hawkins like deserves an Oscar.
00:02:22.561 --> 00:02:23.670
She's that good in this movie.
00:02:24.600 --> 00:02:31.140
She lost her child she makes a deal with this devil to bring back her kid.
00:02:31.561 --> 00:02:41.941
And the idea behind the movie is this devil can bring back somebody's spirit to a body if they died the same way as the person, as the other person died.
00:02:42.420 --> 00:02:45.631
So her daughter drowned in their pool in the backyard.
00:02:47.100 --> 00:03:00.241
And if Sally Hawkins drowns somebody, then this demon can bring back her daughter's spirit into whoever, whoever's drowned.
00:03:02.311 --> 00:03:05.100
She's been in the foster care system for a really long time.
00:03:05.100 --> 00:03:07.980
She's a pillar of the community, has a great reputation.
00:03:08.161 --> 00:03:16.350
Nobody believes that she could be this messed up, but she gets more and more messed up and she gets these two foster kids, an older son and a girl.
00:03:16.681 --> 00:03:22.080
And he, she, throughout the movie, makes the older son seem like a crazy person.
00:03:22.876 --> 00:03:35.325
Like more and more psychotic so that he, she, she can separate the two and just have the daughter and then go about her plan of bringing her biological daughter's spirit back.
00:03:36.705 --> 00:03:38.475
It's kind of a, it's a cool concept.
00:03:38.955 --> 00:03:40.425
It's pretty well executed.
00:03:41.355 --> 00:03:53.626
the end of the movie, the daughter, the foster daughter escapes, but Sally Hawkins ends up drowning the foster son.
00:03:55.066 --> 00:04:06.376
And when she drowns the foster son in a puddle, after she smashes with a car, um, I'm thinking, oh, they're gonna have the daughter's spirit go into the foster son.
00:04:07.126 --> 00:04:14.235
the daughter's spirit will literally like wake up the, the Sally Hawkins sees all the stuff that she's done.
00:04:14.235 --> 00:04:15.855
She decides she doesn't wanna live anymore.
00:04:16.065 --> 00:04:17.956
So she drowns herself at the end of the movie.
00:04:18.735 --> 00:04:20.505
thought it would've been so poetic if.
00:04:20.925 --> 00:04:24.675
The mother drowns while the daughter comes back to life.
00:04:25.125 --> 00:04:28.216
And then you're ended with this like, haunting thing of the daughter.
00:04:28.216 --> 00:04:32.865
Just wandering around in this boy's soul been horrifying.
00:04:33.076 --> 00:04:34.815
And the, the ending was right there.
00:04:34.935 --> 00:04:36.196
It was a slam dunk.
00:04:36.435 --> 00:04:42.766
But instead we just get the daughter running into the foster, daughter running into the woods, and Sally Hawkins drowning.
00:04:43.005 --> 00:04:45.406
And it was kinda lackluster and a little disappointing.
00:04:46.216 --> 00:04:49.875
Um, this movie is still worth a watch.
00:04:49.875 --> 00:04:58.216
I still think it's pretty good, but where to me is just so rocks solid from beginning to end.
00:04:58.216 --> 00:05:01.245
This one has a couple little things where I'm like, that could have been better.
00:05:01.245 --> 00:05:02.415
That could have been better.
00:05:02.625 --> 00:05:07.576
The pacing about first third of it is a little slow.
00:05:08.055 --> 00:05:11.985
Um, and I'm gonna give it like, uh, I'll give it a seven.
00:05:12.105 --> 00:05:12.826
I think I'll give it a seven.
00:05:12.826 --> 00:05:13.156
At seven.
00:05:15.833 --> 00:05:16.103
Cool.
00:05:17.487 --> 00:05:17.778
Okay.
00:05:18.391 --> 00:05:18.880
Does that.
00:05:18.918 --> 00:05:21.052
Uh, does that work?
00:05:21.165 --> 00:05:21.646
Josh?
00:05:22.298 --> 00:05:24.218
Uh, I'm still interested in watching it.
00:05:24.307 --> 00:05:28.387
Um, horror is very hard to do.
00:05:28.838 --> 00:05:32.617
Um, I was just talking to Lauren about this before we started.
00:05:33.038 --> 00:05:36.038
I view horror kind of like I view rap music.
00:05:36.158 --> 00:05:38.677
Uh, 99% of it is utter crap.
00:05:39.458 --> 00:05:47.377
Um, most of it sucks and, but there are some very specific things that hit for some people and not others.
00:05:47.798 --> 00:05:51.338
So there are some rap music that works for me.
00:05:52.387 --> 00:06:05.288
Uh, talk to me was so good and I think it falls under that same issue where there's some potholes and it's not really solid all the way through.
00:06:05.918 --> 00:06:12.817
Um, but it, it was their like first real shot going from YouTube to like actual screen, uh.
00:06:13.478 --> 00:06:17.348
So I would've loved to hear that, hey, they, they're still not perfect.
00:06:17.348 --> 00:06:20.048
They're still not there, but they took the next step.
00:06:20.468 --> 00:06:21.548
That would've been better.
00:06:22.148 --> 00:06:31.447
Um, but it sounds like they made more, probably not quite as good, but still worth seeing.
00:06:31.447 --> 00:06:33.098
So that's worth it to me.
00:06:33.661 --> 00:06:35.790
It's still a good movie.
00:06:36.120 --> 00:06:39.240
Um, and it's, I was surprised at how different it is from Talk To me.
00:06:39.630 --> 00:06:43.680
It feels like a, doesn't feel like the same directors directed.
00:06:43.711 --> 00:06:50.341
Like it feels completely different to me other than I guess it does with possession, but it's a slow burn type movie.
00:06:50.341 --> 00:06:51.331
It's just different.
00:06:52.538 --> 00:06:54.668
yeah, I'm still super interested.
00:06:54.668 --> 00:06:59.468
I don't know when I'll watch it, um, but I am interested to see it.
00:07:00.360 --> 00:07:00.690
Cool.
00:07:01.380 --> 00:07:02.880
And Lauren don't watch it.
00:07:04.500 --> 00:07:12.841
I had no plans to, I surprisingly, I've had a lot of my friends want me to watch this movie, and I'm like, no.
00:07:13.740 --> 00:07:16.321
a lot of movies that I'd be like, Lauren, just watch it.
00:07:16.350 --> 00:07:17.100
Not a big deal.
00:07:17.521 --> 00:07:20.850
This one we tried to do for our shared topic, for anybody who's listening.
00:07:21.196 --> 00:07:32.656
And I'm like, actually glad Lauren didn't push against watching this there are parts of this where I'm like, I, I don't even know if I wanna watch that.
00:07:34.800 --> 00:07:36.331
Yeah, yeah.
00:07:36.990 --> 00:07:44.425
It's, I've seen the trailer for talk to me and like there are some things in, some horror.
00:07:46.456 --> 00:07:51.045
That I'm like, it's intriguing until they get into like the, the meat of it.
00:07:51.045 --> 00:07:52.995
And then I'm like, okay, now I'm done watching.
00:07:54.225 --> 00:07:56.146
Like if somebody could just tell me what happens, I'll be fine
00:07:59.326 --> 00:08:00.466
That's totally fair.
00:08:00.766 --> 00:08:01.516
That's totally fair.
00:08:01.781 --> 00:08:06.136
Uh, talk to me is one that I think, I think you probably could watch.
00:08:06.526 --> 00:08:07.305
Honestly.
00:08:08.446 --> 00:08:09.646
You just can't do possession.
00:08:09.706 --> 00:08:10.425
No possession.
00:08:10.906 --> 00:08:11.355
Okay.
00:08:11.805 --> 00:08:12.526
It's creepy.
00:08:12.615 --> 00:08:13.665
It's a creepy possession.
00:08:13.815 --> 00:08:14.026
It's not
00:08:14.146 --> 00:08:23.505
I I believe in like, that invites like a certain type of tone and spirit into I'm watching it.
00:08:23.865 --> 00:08:25.786
And so I do not mess with that stuff.
00:08:26.235 --> 00:08:27.346
Even if it's in a movie.
00:08:27.346 --> 00:08:28.485
I just don't mess with it.
00:08:29.370 --> 00:08:29.850
totally fair.
00:08:30.480 --> 00:08:31.531
This one is creepier.
00:08:31.531 --> 00:08:34.020
Like if you wanna rate it on creep factory, you get a higher rating.
00:08:34.020 --> 00:08:35.311
It's a creepier movie.
00:08:36.961 --> 00:08:37.441
At least it was
00:08:37.520 --> 00:08:39.405
I don't like creepy.
00:08:39.495 --> 00:08:43.096
I just, I don't give, I, I don't understand.
00:08:43.980 --> 00:08:50.671
Um, like I get that some people like that and want to be creeped out.
00:08:50.671 --> 00:08:54.931
I don't understand wanting to be creeped out and like wanting to feel that
00:08:55.711 --> 00:08:55.890
I
00:08:56.041 --> 00:08:56.581
it's not for
00:08:58.350 --> 00:08:59.791
I love it so much.
00:09:01.500 --> 00:09:06.270
It's nice and dark outside and you're like, is there someone in my front yard?
00:09:06.600 --> 00:09:08.311
Is there someone in that closet?
00:09:08.551 --> 00:09:09.841
And you're just like paranoid.
00:09:09.900 --> 00:09:12.265
I don't know why, but I love that feeling.
00:09:14.566 --> 00:09:14.855
okay.
00:09:15.990 --> 00:09:16.321
I know.
00:09:16.321 --> 00:09:16.831
It's weird.
00:09:17.850 --> 00:09:18.961
It's weird, but I like it.
00:09:18.961 --> 00:09:20.221
Josh doesn't feel that ever.
00:09:20.221 --> 00:09:25.081
He's just like, everything spooky is nonsense garbage.
00:09:26.768 --> 00:09:29.528
Oh, I know that it's made up for a movie.
00:09:30.607 --> 00:09:35.528
I sort of agree with Lauren that it invites a energy.
00:09:35.587 --> 00:09:37.477
I just think that it's psychological.
00:09:37.567 --> 00:09:38.857
I don't think it's physical.
00:09:39.427 --> 00:09:46.567
Um, so we're all about the podcast and how it impacts us, and that impacts Lauren in a negative way.
00:09:46.567 --> 00:09:49.028
So I fully support not doing it,
00:09:49.365 --> 00:09:49.655
Yeah.
00:09:50.048 --> 00:09:54.668
but for me personally, I'm like, and I, I believe in possession.
00:09:54.668 --> 00:10:00.217
I believe it's a real thing as I don't think that watching a movie is going to make me.
00:10:00.952 --> 00:10:02.962
Any more likely to be possessed.
00:10:03.052 --> 00:10:04.217
So, um,
00:10:04.365 --> 00:10:04.586
Do
00:10:04.597 --> 00:10:05.057
it doesn't.
00:10:06.885 --> 00:10:10.816
Um, do I think that watching something would make you possessed?
00:10:10.875 --> 00:10:12.541
you more likely to be possessed?
00:10:14.865 --> 00:10:18.346
Um, I don't know.
00:10:18.645 --> 00:10:30.541
Um, I do think that like, it sets the tone for, Like, I don't know, it's just, it sets a tone that I don't like,
00:10:31.750 --> 00:10:31.951
Okay.
00:10:32.091 --> 00:10:32.630
That's fair.
00:10:33.660 --> 00:10:43.051
but I don't necessarily think that it's like you were 98% chance of not being possessed, but after you watched that know you're 80% chance of being.
00:10:43.260 --> 00:10:44.760
I don't think that that's true.
00:10:48.480 --> 00:10:50.910
You keep watching these, your chances.
00:10:52.020 --> 00:10:54.630
I dunno, I don't, I don't think that there's direct correlation
00:10:55.066 --> 00:10:58.035
horror movies on how likely they're to possess
00:10:58.140 --> 00:11:00.331
for you to get after you finish this one.
00:11:00.331 --> 00:11:01.260
70%.
00:11:01.816 --> 00:11:03.466
Conjuring two, you're done.
00:11:03.466 --> 00:11:05.446
Sorry, game over
00:11:05.640 --> 00:11:05.880
That's
00:11:05.977 --> 00:11:07.462
Might as well go straight to hell.
00:11:07.602 --> 00:11:08.383
You're just like,
00:11:10.966 --> 00:11:11.760
Make sure you have,
00:11:12.105 --> 00:11:14.385
immediately after watching this movie.
00:11:14.880 --> 00:11:19.441
watch, make sure that your theater is close to, uh, chapel.
00:11:20.505 --> 00:11:23.716
We'll have a priest in the hall after you relieve the
00:11:25.155 --> 00:11:32.416
No one is allowed to leave until they have gotten their exorcism, their complimentary exorcism.
00:11:33.740 --> 00:11:34.561
uh, that's funny.
00:11:35.227 --> 00:11:36.758
Hey, I've gotta be honest.
00:11:36.758 --> 00:11:41.258
If that really happened with a movie, I would be more interested in going to the theater
00:11:41.505 --> 00:11:43.005
a good marketing idea.
00:11:43.005 --> 00:11:44.145
Like that's crazy.
00:11:44.326 --> 00:11:44.686
Oh,
00:11:44.768 --> 00:11:47.437
free exorcism with purchase of movie ticket.
00:11:52.966 --> 00:11:53.265
Oh.
00:11:54.105 --> 00:12:00.196
be like, okay, we're not seeing each other for at least like after you've been exercised three times.
00:12:03.735 --> 00:12:07.696
It's like back in COVID times when people are like, no, you can't come over unless you have your shots.
00:12:07.696 --> 00:12:09.436
I'm like, you can't come over unless you've had your exercise.
00:12:12.331 --> 00:12:17.605
That our little topic right now is gonna go so well for me on our third episode.
00:12:21.158 --> 00:12:21.727
Sounds good.
00:12:22.033 --> 00:12:26.947
Okay, I'm gonna move on though, uh,'cause I'm very excited for this topic.
00:12:27.145 --> 00:12:27.566
Mm-hmm.
00:12:28.268 --> 00:12:32.197
the show is an anime, it's called Roro.
00:12:32.768 --> 00:12:37.597
Um, this came up to me, my attention, uh, on TikTok.
00:12:37.687 --> 00:12:43.177
I, it was a little, these are animes with no bad episodes.
00:12:43.268 --> 00:12:49.268
Um, and it listed like full metal brotherhood, solo leveling.
00:12:50.197 --> 00:12:58.028
Uh, a couple of others and, and this one, um, I don't know if you've watched any of it, Kamlan.
00:12:58.357 --> 00:13:00.908
I know, you know, I was gonna talk about it.
00:13:01.418 --> 00:13:09.847
Uh, but the basic premise is a mother is praying to a goddess, uh, for her baby to be healthy.
00:13:10.927 --> 00:13:17.798
A father is praying to the demon gods, um, for prosperity of his lands.
00:13:17.857 --> 00:13:22.508
Um, he was in a very poor, he was given poor lands.
00:13:22.538 --> 00:13:23.857
They couldn't grow anything.
00:13:24.697 --> 00:13:29.197
And he said, take anything from me, just make my land prosperous.
00:13:29.827 --> 00:13:36.817
Um, and in doing so, the demons decide that they're going to feed on the child as payment, um, in the mother's womb.
00:13:37.538 --> 00:13:47.227
But because the mother was praying to the goddess, um, the baby's head was saved because.
00:13:48.403 --> 00:13:50.528
Th the goddess lost her head.
00:13:50.528 --> 00:13:53.197
She gave her head in place of the baby's head.
00:13:53.798 --> 00:14:06.217
Um, so this baby is born and somehow survives, but is, has no arms, has no legs, is deaf, can't taste, can't smell, can't hear everything.
00:14:06.278 --> 00:14:19.508
Um, and so the father absolutely horrified by the site, sends it away, and the mother is told to shut up and deal with it and make another son so that the prosperous lands can have a, um, air.
00:14:21.067 --> 00:14:29.317
Um, this, um, woodworker who builds prosthetics, finds the baby and raises him.
00:14:30.577 --> 00:14:34.868
Um, and we fast forward to where the show mainly takes place.
00:14:34.898 --> 00:14:37.477
Um, like I said, he's got prosthetic arms and legs.
00:14:37.508 --> 00:14:40.538
The forearms like pull off to make katanas.
00:14:40.837 --> 00:14:43.778
He's got katana like blades shoved through his arm.
00:14:44.258 --> 00:14:44.587
Um.
00:14:45.923 --> 00:14:54.232
And he goes and he figures out that if he kills a demon that ate one of his body parts, he would get that body part back.
00:14:54.870 --> 00:14:56.071
That's cool.
00:14:56.332 --> 00:15:04.163
Um, and his ability, um, to make up for all of his senses being gone is he's able to see people's auras.
00:15:04.613 --> 00:15:16.432
Um, so he can't see you physically, but he can tell that like, Lauren has such a great pure aura, or that's just a demon in disguise kind of a thing.
00:15:16.921 --> 00:15:17.100
hmm.
00:15:17.302 --> 00:15:22.013
And he runs into this orphan who's 11 or 13 named Dero.
00:15:22.643 --> 00:15:41.212
Um, and they kind of form this like pseudo found family thing where Roro is his mouth and eyes and our main character is now.
00:15:41.768 --> 00:15:47.168
The, the younger kids protector and they form this like, complete bond.
00:15:48.128 --> 00:15:53.317
And there's a whole bunch of like, what does it mean?
00:15:53.317 --> 00:16:00.278
You know, as he's killing demons, he becomes more bloodstained, taking him closer to becoming a demon himself.
00:16:00.847 --> 00:16:07.807
Um, there's a lot of talk about how if you kill a demon, another one's gonna come back up in its place.
00:16:08.077 --> 00:16:18.097
Um, and there's a lot of talk about how removing demons doesn't actually make the world that much better because of the imperfections of humanity.
00:16:18.967 --> 00:16:23.107
Um, so there's all these different layers to it.
00:16:23.197 --> 00:16:29.197
Um, and now I'm gonna say something completely crazy.
00:16:29.528 --> 00:16:33.158
I don't think Conlin is going to agree with this point at all.
00:16:33.878 --> 00:16:40.028
Um, even if you do watch it, I don't think you'll agree, but I like this better than solo leveling.
00:16:40.508 --> 00:16:40.927
Um.
00:16:41.505 --> 00:16:42.076
Wow.
00:16:43.312 --> 00:16:45.113
I don't think it's critically better.
00:16:45.143 --> 00:16:46.822
I don't think you'll think it's better.
00:16:48.952 --> 00:16:57.383
Uh, the only thing that I would say is like analytically better than solo leveling is the theme song.
00:16:57.442 --> 00:17:00.143
And I also think that that's just my personal preference.
00:17:00.562 --> 00:17:09.292
Um, it deals with themes of family biology, cost of war, sacrifice.
00:17:09.292 --> 00:17:10.583
What is humanity?
00:17:12.292 --> 00:17:15.472
Sometimes fighting evil is a py victory.
00:17:15.472 --> 00:17:18.982
The cost what and what cost is worth giving.
00:17:19.432 --> 00:17:23.992
It deals with good and good of the few versus the good of the many.
00:17:25.462 --> 00:17:27.593
It addresses literally everything.
00:17:28.133 --> 00:17:31.762
Um, I, or sorry, I love how it addresses everything.
00:17:32.303 --> 00:17:36.383
It does all of this in 24, 20 minute episodes.
00:17:36.472 --> 00:17:37.913
I will watch this again.
00:17:37.913 --> 00:17:39.323
It's a 10 out of 10 to be.
00:17:40.121 --> 00:17:40.340
Wow.
00:17:40.538 --> 00:17:43.688
Uh, this show is absolutely brilliant.
00:17:43.778 --> 00:17:51.458
Um, I, I don't have any criticisms of it all at all.
00:17:51.458 --> 00:17:52.538
It made me laugh.
00:17:52.928 --> 00:17:54.698
It made me hyper emotional.
00:17:55.538 --> 00:18:02.407
Um, the, the stories that they tell in such a short period of time.
00:18:02.438 --> 00:18:08.617
It's not like Avatar where I say it's, you know, anyone can watch it'cause it is a little bit more mature.
00:18:09.188 --> 00:18:11.407
Um, I would say that about solo leveling too.
00:18:11.407 --> 00:18:14.377
Like, hey, literally, like anybody can enjoy solo leveling.
00:18:14.978 --> 00:18:19.778
Uh, this one just hits those hard, hard truths a little bit more hard for me.
00:18:20.468 --> 00:18:22.778
Um, I just, I absolutely loved it.
00:18:22.867 --> 00:18:23.978
It was fantastic.
00:18:24.772 --> 00:18:31.837
I, I got out of my watching an anime mood and watched this anyway, and still loved it.
00:18:31.837 --> 00:18:33.278
That's how great this was for me.
00:18:33.278 --> 00:18:33.607
So,
00:18:34.530 --> 00:18:35.221
Okay.
00:18:36.121 --> 00:18:36.421
Hmm.
00:18:36.480 --> 00:18:37.711
And it's, it's done,
00:18:38.557 --> 00:18:38.798
yeah.
00:18:38.887 --> 00:18:38.948
Yeah,
00:18:40.276 --> 00:18:41.006
Just one season.
00:18:41.498 --> 00:18:42.248
just one season.
00:18:44.971 --> 00:18:46.141
I will try this.
00:18:46.290 --> 00:18:49.736
I, uh, like shorter anime a
00:18:49.867 --> 00:18:50.288
Me too.
00:18:50.498 --> 00:18:51.877
I'm all about the shorter anime.
00:18:52.627 --> 00:18:56.107
Like I said, I don't think you're gonna come out of it and say it's better.
00:18:56.107 --> 00:18:56.978
That so lovely.
00:18:57.188 --> 00:18:59.857
I would be shocked if you said that.
00:19:00.337 --> 00:19:04.057
Um, but for me it was
00:19:04.921 --> 00:19:05.760
That's really cool, man.
00:19:06.661 --> 00:19:07.141
Straight up.
00:19:07.141 --> 00:19:07.711
That's really cool.
00:19:09.510 --> 00:19:10.980
I am interested.
00:19:11.048 --> 00:19:11.948
know if you'd like it.
00:19:12.000 --> 00:19:12.010
thing.
00:19:13.057 --> 00:19:15.758
I think you'd really like the found family stuff that happens.
00:19:17.228 --> 00:19:20.313
I think you would hate a lot of the demon stuff that happens.
00:19:20.857 --> 00:19:24.032
So, um, I don't know.
00:19:25.230 --> 00:19:33.361
Well, it's interesting'cause like I am, I've been looking up like pictures of it and it like, it looks very well animated.
00:19:33.982 --> 00:19:34.432
It is.
00:19:34.492 --> 00:19:35.782
The animation is great.
00:19:35.843 --> 00:19:36.232
Yeah.
00:19:36.623 --> 00:19:42.143
Like I said, he's got these katanas shoved through his elbow'cause he, his arms from here down are gone.
00:19:43.462 --> 00:19:47.182
And like the fighting is just so well choreographed.
00:19:47.452 --> 00:20:12.772
Uh, his parents do have a second son, so there is a confrontation between the biology of that and the, uh, you know, will the other son choose the land over the, or the need of the mini versus the needs of him and kind of, it's, there's a lot to it.
00:20:12.772 --> 00:20:13.913
It's very, very cool.
00:20:14.873 --> 00:20:16.042
Animation is great.
00:20:16.403 --> 00:20:23.423
Um, I absolutely love, um, the way they made our main character look and feel.
00:20:24.307 --> 00:20:33.367
Um, so the way he meets Roro is Roro is actually being bullied by these adults, um, and being like picked on and stuff.
00:20:33.518 --> 00:20:39.698
And then our main character is standing on a bridge and they notice him up there, but they're like, what is he looking at?
00:20:39.698 --> 00:20:40.928
This is freaking us out.
00:20:41.198 --> 00:20:45.307
And he is got this cool like black cloak that's like billowing in the wind.
00:20:45.788 --> 00:20:52.448
Um, and he's got like this stone cold face'cause it's a mask, but it looks really good.
00:20:52.867 --> 00:21:01.087
Um, and then a demon shows up and he fights the demon and saves Roro at the same time.
00:21:01.087 --> 00:21:04.928
And de was like, that's so cool.
00:21:05.137 --> 00:21:06.667
I love that you could do that.
00:21:06.667 --> 00:21:14.048
So now I'm gonna follow you all across the place and make you be my friend at, it's, it's great.
00:21:14.461 --> 00:21:20.611
just the idea of like killing the demons and getting your body part back I think is so cool.
00:21:20.671 --> 00:21:22.050
That's such a cool idea.
00:21:22.800 --> 00:21:27.300
you stack that with everything else and it sounds absolutely awesome.
00:21:28.133 --> 00:21:28.913
It is awesome.
00:21:29.002 --> 00:21:31.732
I expect you'll watch this and be like, that was great.
00:21:31.853 --> 00:21:34.762
Eight outta 10, but X, y, z, whatever.
00:21:35.393 --> 00:21:39.952
Um, but I came out of this like, this is one of my all time favorite anime.
00:21:40.252 --> 00:21:43.252
This is, I don't have any criticisms of it.
00:21:44.837 --> 00:21:49.373
It is like, I literally can point to nothing and say that they did it wrong.
00:21:50.490 --> 00:21:50.760
that's
00:21:50.932 --> 00:21:53.903
I, I, I don't see anything wrong with it.
00:21:53.903 --> 00:21:54.173
So.
00:21:55.111 --> 00:21:57.421
I'm gonna check it out for sure.
00:22:00.653 --> 00:22:01.192
Okay.
00:22:01.313 --> 00:22:10.883
With that being said, we're gonna jump to Lauren who has an awesome topic that I'm hoping has changed a little bit since we last talked about it.
00:22:10.942 --> 00:22:15.232
Now that it's settled a little bit more, what do you have, Lauren?
00:22:17.080 --> 00:22:24.645
So, uh, I played until Dawn, the video game in one sitting, uh, Josh watched
00:22:26.576 --> 00:22:27.415
Just this last week.
00:22:27.871 --> 00:22:29.175
Uhhuh like.
00:22:29.851 --> 00:22:32.520
Was it literally like right after?
00:22:32.712 --> 00:22:33.232
day after.
00:22:33.232 --> 00:22:34.468
Yeah, at least the next day.
00:22:34.897 --> 00:22:35.188
Yeah.
00:22:35.340 --> 00:22:35.611
remember.
00:22:35.611 --> 00:22:35.941
Yeah.
00:22:35.941 --> 00:22:40.111
So a day after recording, uh, played it.
00:22:40.201 --> 00:22:46.590
Um, I thought it was gonna be scarier, honestly.
00:22:47.310 --> 00:23:04.830
Um, I guess I'll, I'll go off about like what I was annoyed at, which was I felt like it, it was most of the game was just me slowly walking everywhere and I was so annoyed and slowly walking everywhere.
00:23:05.851 --> 00:23:15.540
I was like a little bit annoyed that everybody was very horny, teenagers and saying like, the worst lines for like the first two to three hours.
00:23:15.540 --> 00:23:22.290
And I'm like, okay, when is somebody gonna get killed?
00:23:25.726 --> 00:23:26.016
Like.
00:23:29.070 --> 00:23:33.780
I, I think I guessed, um, spoilers, anybody who hasn't played until dawn.
00:23:33.780 --> 00:23:35.580
I'm gonna go into spoilers now.
00:23:37.800 --> 00:23:43.441
I kind of guessed that it was Josh terrorizing people with the mask, I feel like pretty early.
00:23:43.921 --> 00:23:48.901
Um, but I kept saying, I was like, there's, I'm like, there has to be more than one murderer though.
00:23:49.230 --> 00:23:58.861
And I was like, so then I started going off on all of my wild ideas of what I thought was going on, uh, which changed like every 30 minutes.
00:23:59.941 --> 00:24:19.681
So like at one point I was like, okay, so the therapist is actually one of the minors who is in his psychosis, thinks he is the therapist, and is like now trying his, going around killing people somehow in his therapy session.
00:24:21.105 --> 00:24:26.806
Um,'cause I knew something, like I caught out on the, the therapy sessions were very weird.
00:24:27.135 --> 00:24:30.405
Uh, and I was like, the backgrounds keep changing.
00:24:30.465 --> 00:24:32.536
And I was like, why am I in a murder house?
00:24:32.536 --> 00:24:35.986
And then Josh's like, are they changing or are you just waking up?
00:24:35.986 --> 00:24:37.846
And I was like, no, they're changing.
00:24:38.895 --> 00:24:39.226
I don't know.
00:24:39.226 --> 00:24:40.786
I don't know what this guy, I don't know what I am.
00:24:40.996 --> 00:24:51.496
So like, I didn't find out that like I was Josh in the, uh, things until later, um, when they revealed it.
00:24:51.496 --> 00:24:53.175
And then I was like, oh, okay, yeah, that makes sense.
00:24:55.455 --> 00:24:56.625
But, um,
00:24:57.028 --> 00:25:02.428
you mean you didn't realize you were Sam, you thought you were Josh, you didn't realize you were Sam.
00:25:07.816 --> 00:25:11.836
no, like in the, oh, I just realized that now.
00:25:13.478 --> 00:25:18.252
She realized it for the second time that she was Sam in the therapies, not Josh.
00:25:19.611 --> 00:25:27.705
I, I thought I was just, well, okay.
00:25:27.705 --> 00:25:28.395
There you go.
00:25:28.455 --> 00:25:39.645
Um, uh, yeah, I was extremely angry at the ending because I had kept everybody alive, minus Josh.
00:25:39.736 --> 00:25:51.465
He got his head squeezed in by his sister, and, uh, I kept everybody alive until this very last decision, and I didn't understand what it was telling me to do.
00:25:51.915 --> 00:25:55.185
Uh, and I picked the wrong one, and almost everybody died.
00:25:55.185 --> 00:25:56.851
And I was so angry.
00:25:59.411 --> 00:26:02.776
I was so mad that I was like, no, no.
00:26:02.776 --> 00:26:04.306
I kept everybody alive.
00:26:05.461 --> 00:26:08.131
They don't all ex die in exploding house fire.
00:26:08.131 --> 00:26:13.861
That's dumb that like, at least some get wiped out by a wendigo if something like, not the house fire.
00:26:13.891 --> 00:26:14.881
That's so dumb.
00:26:15.211 --> 00:26:27.540
Anyway, I mean, it was like my own fault, but I was so mad that I'd spent all this time and it was like one decision that wiped out everybody.
00:26:28.800 --> 00:26:35.611
So yeah, that, that kind of like put a little damper on how I viewed the game
00:26:35.766 --> 00:26:36.056
Okay.
00:26:36.361 --> 00:26:44.431
I was like, I wanted to be like, yeah, I, I saved everybody in my foot the first time through or whatever.
00:26:44.730 --> 00:26:48.240
Um, and then everybody died and I was like, this just James Garbage.
00:26:53.131 --> 00:26:59.490
Um, was interesting because I wasn't scared by the winds at all.
00:26:59.881 --> 00:27:00.540
Um.
00:27:01.516 --> 00:27:06.945
Like, there's a lot of scenes where like it's slowly coming at you and you have to aim and shoot at it.
00:27:08.385 --> 00:27:14.715
I was like, oh, I love it when this happens because this is make, like, I thought that that was the calmest part of the game.
00:27:14.746 --> 00:27:16.996
'cause I was like, oh, so predictable.
00:27:17.655 --> 00:27:19.215
I can do this, this is fine.
00:27:19.965 --> 00:27:34.516
Um, but then like the night after, uh, in my dreams, my dreams took on to the Wendigo idea and just brewed up all these nightmarish things for me to play with.
00:27:34.516 --> 00:27:35.445
It was so great.
00:27:35.445 --> 00:27:36.286
I hated it.
00:27:36.375 --> 00:27:37.155
like so much fun.
00:27:37.365 --> 00:27:38.476
It was so awful.
00:27:38.506 --> 00:27:44.476
It was like a mixture of the Ghostbusters meets when Degos and I was out of batteries for my backpack.
00:27:45.105 --> 00:27:46.611
you just wrote your fanfic.
00:27:48.961 --> 00:27:50.131
It was so bad.
00:27:50.431 --> 00:27:51.871
I, oh my gosh.
00:27:51.901 --> 00:27:55.080
Except in my dream, I was like, I just have to wait until dawn.
00:27:55.080 --> 00:27:59.401
And then I made it till Dawn, and then the Wendys kept coming at me and I was like, no.
00:27:59.401 --> 00:28:01.711
I said, Don, I'm, it's dawn.
00:28:01.711 --> 00:28:03.506
I'm safe.
00:28:04.441 --> 00:28:06.030
And I was like, holding up in this shack.
00:28:06.030 --> 00:28:17.385
And anyway, it was awful and terrible and it's way scarier than the game because I just had a sucky little vacuum and now it's outta batteries Anyway.
00:28:18.046 --> 00:28:23.310
Um, so I mean, like, I'm not mad that I played the game.
00:28:23.401 --> 00:28:25.951
I thought it was really good with like its twists and things.
00:28:25.951 --> 00:28:32.580
I think they should change, um, mechanics of how you look around and how quickly you can look around.
00:28:34.861 --> 00:28:37.590
other than that, uh, I really liked it.
00:28:37.651 --> 00:28:43.260
The, like I was set on hating all of the characters from the beginning.
00:28:44.445 --> 00:28:49.425
'cause of the prologue and then, uh, some on me.
00:28:49.455 --> 00:28:54.675
I think the only one that didn't grow on me was And then I really didn't care about Matt.
00:28:55.036 --> 00:28:58.276
Uh,'cause they kind of like didn't give him any screen time.
00:28:59.715 --> 00:29:07.455
Um, I don't know if that's just'cause of my play through and that's why he didn't like get any scream time or if that's just how it is.
00:29:07.546 --> 00:29:08.175
Um,
00:29:08.490 --> 00:29:09.000
He gets less.
00:29:09.766 --> 00:29:13.185
yeah, I, so like I really didn't care about Emily or Matt.
00:29:13.605 --> 00:29:20.836
Um, but the rest I kind of like, grew on me and I was like, okay, I actually want them to survive until Dawn.
00:29:22.006 --> 00:29:25.125
Um, yeah.
00:29:25.155 --> 00:29:34.516
'cause I think in my play through it was Sam, Matt, um, Chris that survived.
00:29:34.935 --> 00:29:37.756
Um, and everybody else.
00:29:39.361 --> 00:29:43.746
Oh, and, uh, Jessica lived, but everybody else died.
00:29:45.046 --> 00:29:46.306
Um, yeah.
00:29:49.050 --> 00:29:50.131
That wouldn't make me mad.
00:29:51.421 --> 00:29:58.830
I was mad at, um, the quarry is harder my opinion than until dawn.
00:29:58.830 --> 00:29:59.340
Until dawn.
00:29:59.340 --> 00:30:04.260
I didn't struggle that much to keep everyone alive the quarry I did.
00:30:05.131 --> 00:30:13.800
Um, and there's a decision that you make halfway through the game in the quarry where if you make the wrong one, the ending, someone will die.
00:30:13.921 --> 00:30:16.201
Like you cannot save them, they will die.
00:30:17.280 --> 00:30:18.750
And it is super frustrating.
00:30:18.750 --> 00:30:24.540
I was like, you and it's a stupid little decision, this little teeny tiny thing.
00:30:24.750 --> 00:30:26.730
Do you want salt or sugar?
00:30:27.645 --> 00:30:31.576
It is almost that small, like literally almost that small.
00:30:31.711 --> 00:30:33.990
This will depend on if everybody lives or not.
00:30:33.990 --> 00:30:35.040
You better choose right?
00:30:39.705 --> 00:30:39.996
Yeah,
00:30:40.125 --> 00:30:43.185
But does this make you wanna play the quarry at all?
00:30:43.351 --> 00:30:45.691
um, I do not want to play it.
00:30:45.691 --> 00:30:49.351
I wanna, I will watch somebody play it, but I do not want to play it.
00:30:49.830 --> 00:30:53.760
Um, I, I told Josh, I was like, definitely not right now.
00:30:53.760 --> 00:30:57.121
Maybe later, because I was like, fuming.
00:30:58.155 --> 00:30:59.296
You were just that mad.
00:30:59.296 --> 00:30:59.715
You were like,
00:30:59.826 --> 00:31:01.145
I was that mad.
00:31:01.500 --> 00:31:13.201
I was like, because like, what I, the, the decision was to flip the light or save, um, now I can't think of what his name is.
00:31:13.681 --> 00:31:15.601
Um, or save the other character.
00:31:15.901 --> 00:31:24.000
And in my mind I was like, oh, it's telling me like if I'm going to sacrifice or if I'm gonna, uh.
00:31:24.721 --> 00:31:31.891
And save just this one character or if I'm going to like flip the light on and get everybody out.
00:31:32.250 --> 00:31:34.770
And so I thought that's what it was asking me.
00:31:35.250 --> 00:31:37.020
Instead, I killed everybody.
00:31:37.020 --> 00:31:41.461
And I was like, you are not clear with this decision.
00:31:42.270 --> 00:31:43.621
It just won't make that clear right now.
00:31:47.371 --> 00:31:47.431
Um,
00:31:47.746 --> 00:31:51.885
With you being so fresh on the game, I'd be super interested in what you think about the movie.
00:31:52.155 --> 00:31:55.411
Like genuinely, I'd be super interested in what you think about the movie.
00:31:56.340 --> 00:31:59.101
is it basically follow what the game does?
00:32:00.195 --> 00:32:00.465
no.
00:32:00.471 --> 00:32:00.931
It's, it's different.
00:32:01.980 --> 00:32:02.340
Hmm.
00:32:02.340 --> 00:32:05.010
Is still like Wendys and stuff?
00:32:06.691 --> 00:32:22.351
I'm like, Wendys I think are pretty scary in, in like, like the ideas of Wendys is very scary and so that's why I was very surprised that.
00:32:23.625 --> 00:32:24.165
This game.
00:32:24.165 --> 00:32:27.796
I was like, you made a windy go.
00:32:27.796 --> 00:32:34.935
Not scary to me, like, because they're like, if you don't move, like you'll be fine.
00:32:34.935 --> 00:32:40.996
And so I was like, oh yeah, why don't we just all curl up right here right now and just wait until Dawn.
00:32:44.633 --> 00:32:47.002
The movie has that exact same problem.
00:32:48.105 --> 00:32:49.155
Oh my gosh.
00:32:49.546 --> 00:33:00.201
Well because like with everybody else, they're like, uh, as I'm playing these other characters, they keep like running and all these things and I was like, girl, just drop and play dead then.
00:33:00.226 --> 00:33:01.635
hide in a bush.
00:33:01.965 --> 00:33:06.496
And then there was like literally Jessica and Matt, that's what I did every choice.
00:33:06.496 --> 00:33:08.326
I was like, just hide.
00:33:08.476 --> 00:33:12.586
And then I would have to like do the don't move thing and it was fine.
00:33:12.915 --> 00:33:13.605
Um,
00:33:14.300 --> 00:33:14.520
Did,
00:33:14.836 --> 00:33:14.925
yeah.
00:33:15.000 --> 00:33:16.905
they watch Jurassic Park?
00:33:17.145 --> 00:33:17.635
Exactly.
00:33:18.480 --> 00:33:19.050
Yeah.
00:33:19.080 --> 00:33:29.221
So it is, uh, that little bit I was like, oh yeah, if they told me that, like catch me doing child pose all night so that I'm just staring at the ground and not moving.
00:33:31.655 --> 00:33:56.221
But um, yeah, so I like from the one horror game that Josh had me play to then playing this, I was like, because like at the very beginning too, I think they used way too many jump scares for things that didn't matter.
00:33:56.340 --> 00:34:02.221
So like, it was like getting me, but then they kept doing it to the point that I was like, oh, I'm fine now.
00:34:02.671 --> 00:34:04.500
I'm a seasoned veteran of this.
00:34:06.016 --> 00:34:10.141
I, I think we need to get you to play some outlast or alien isolation.
00:34:11.400 --> 00:34:14.251
I'm kind of intrigued about alien isolation.
00:34:14.681 --> 00:34:21.181
Um,'cause I wonder if I'll be scared on that one or not because like
00:34:21.623 --> 00:34:23.213
You will and then you won't.
00:34:23.213 --> 00:34:31.282
'cause it does exactly what until dawn does, where you just get used to it and then it gives you a flame thrower and you're like, well now I'm not even scared.
00:34:31.282 --> 00:34:31.733
So.
00:34:32.280 --> 00:34:35.041
Flame thrower is where it gets not scary for sure.
00:34:35.101 --> 00:34:38.581
'cause you have a way to fight back before you don't have a way to fight back.
00:34:38.581 --> 00:34:39.391
It just eats you.
00:34:40.146 --> 00:34:50.010
I think the thing about what didn't make me scared about the Wendys is that they were doing the slow motion thing at me with the Wendys all of the time.
00:34:50.311 --> 00:34:58.291
And so I got to see all of it and I was like, this looks like a really bad CGI monkey.
00:34:58.740 --> 00:35:05.010
Um, and so like, I, I think that worked against me.
00:35:05.010 --> 00:35:05.940
'cause like, I think.
00:35:06.735 --> 00:35:15.315
Um, because I've mentioned some of my favorite, um, horror movies is like signs and, uh, the village and things like that.
00:35:16.275 --> 00:35:21.525
what's scary about them is that they do the technique of like, not showing you the whole monster.
00:35:21.706 --> 00:35:30.376
Because to me, like leaving it up to my imagination and like letting my imagination make it bigger than what it actually is, is what's scary and what gets me.
00:35:30.826 --> 00:35:42.675
Um, but if you show it in all detail to me, or if I know what the monster looks like for whatever reason, that like drops scariness for me.
00:35:43.246 --> 00:35:43.876
So,
00:35:44.096 --> 00:35:46.320
I'm gonna ask you more about that with our shared topic.
00:35:48.286 --> 00:35:58.215
oh, I'm, but yeah, so I, I think I rated it a seven with Josh, uh, after I played the game.
00:35:58.755 --> 00:35:59.416
Um.
00:36:00.135 --> 00:36:02.146
I think it, it stays the same at seven.
00:36:02.416 --> 00:36:05.956
Uh, I do think that I was super mad.
00:36:07.365 --> 00:36:08.925
Came just'cause of that one choice.
00:36:08.925 --> 00:36:09.346
I was like, no.
00:36:10.201 --> 00:36:11.311
Did it drop you down?
00:36:11.835 --> 00:36:12.346
Um,
00:36:12.391 --> 00:36:13.411
rating have been higher?
00:36:14.115 --> 00:36:15.106
I don't think so.
00:36:15.360 --> 00:36:15.451
Okay.
00:36:15.646 --> 00:36:29.686
Um,'cause that's why I was saying I'm, I'm weighted and even now that I'm like not mad about that anymore, I think it's still a seven for me because of those things of like the walking really slow them, showing the windy goes.
00:36:29.715 --> 00:36:44.655
'cause like if they would've kept it in the beginning when like that face popped up in the, um, binoculars or like when it was dragging Jessica away and then the head like popped out and then I like shot at it and stuff.
00:36:45.016 --> 00:36:51.976
If they would've kept it like that and I could only like shoot at shadows far away and it wasn't like.
00:36:52.936 --> 00:36:58.036
Always coming at me, then I think it would've been a little bit scarier for me, but
00:36:58.485 --> 00:36:58.695
Cool.
00:37:01.141 --> 00:37:01.431
Yeah.
00:37:01.635 --> 00:37:04.246
then outlast and Alien Isolation won't scare at all.
00:37:05.701 --> 00:37:08.101
Because Atlas, you see the creature the entire time.
00:37:08.311 --> 00:37:15.181
It's just some creepy dude pulling a head along or something, and you have to figure out how to get past the creepy dude who's pulling the head along.
00:37:15.510 --> 00:37:17.521
But you see the creepy dude pulling the head along.
00:37:17.521 --> 00:37:18.391
It's right there.
00:37:20.347 --> 00:37:29.918
Sort of, sort of, um, here's what I will say about until Don is, I was actually expecting Lauren to rate this higher,
00:37:30.735 --> 00:37:30.956
hmm,
00:37:31.117 --> 00:37:37.237
um, because we got to the end, she flicked the switch, the house started exploding and she paused the game.
00:37:37.237 --> 00:37:38.467
She's like, I wanna go back.
00:37:38.797 --> 00:37:39.728
I wanna change that.
00:37:39.907 --> 00:37:42.547
And um, I was like, okay.
00:37:42.938 --> 00:37:44.768
She's into it, she's really liking it.
00:37:45.248 --> 00:37:48.277
And then I was like, hold on, let's see what happens.
00:37:48.277 --> 00:37:54.217
You know, this was my first time experiencing the remastered edition.
00:37:54.905 --> 00:37:55.025
hmm.
00:37:55.688 --> 00:37:57.338
'cause I was so excited about this.
00:37:57.338 --> 00:38:03.427
I, while we were recording last week, I bought the remastered edition so I could play it with Lauren.
00:38:03.907 --> 00:38:04.117
Yeah.
00:38:04.117 --> 00:38:05.168
While we were recording.
00:38:05.168 --> 00:38:05.677
I pulled it up.
00:38:05.677 --> 00:38:06.697
I was like, I'm buying that.
00:38:07.387 --> 00:38:08.947
Um, so I can play it with Lauren.
00:38:10.027 --> 00:38:15.217
And the entire time I was having a great time with it.
00:38:15.277 --> 00:38:17.257
I felt like she was having a great time with it.
00:38:17.498 --> 00:38:18.757
It, I, I agree.
00:38:18.757 --> 00:38:20.407
It wasn't very scary.
00:38:20.527 --> 00:38:24.398
I think they needed to turn the brightness down on that game, way down.
00:38:24.637 --> 00:38:35.737
'cause like on my screen, what she was streaming, she would like lift a lantern so that you could see, but I could already see what was going on.
00:38:35.737 --> 00:38:38.257
There's the whole reveal of the skeleton with the lighter.
00:38:38.617 --> 00:38:40.597
And I was like, okay.
00:38:42.217 --> 00:38:44.137
I could see the skeleton the whole time.
00:38:44.378 --> 00:38:48.338
Um, so like the brightness definitely has come way down.
00:38:48.757 --> 00:39:02.137
Uh, they definitely need to, I don't know about never show the window go, but like build up to it, show it, show like the, the claw show part of the face, you know, different stuff like that.
00:39:02.617 --> 00:39:10.538
Um, it was definitely very interesting for me to see the changes between the original and the remaster version.
00:39:10.681 --> 00:39:12.150
the actual game different.
00:39:12.697 --> 00:39:13.208
Yes.
00:39:13.561 --> 00:39:13.920
Okay.
00:39:14.400 --> 00:39:14.791
Interesting.
00:39:14.797 --> 00:39:16.748
they've made it goer for sure.
00:39:16.838 --> 00:39:20.228
Um, the entire prologue is completely different.
00:39:20.617 --> 00:39:21.068
Um,
00:39:21.090 --> 00:39:21.570
I like the
00:39:21.608 --> 00:39:27.518
they made some changes, they just expounded on it, so everything makes a little bit more sense.
00:39:27.726 --> 00:39:28.016
Okay.
00:39:28.027 --> 00:39:29.708
think it was a good choice.
00:39:29.827 --> 00:39:36.518
Um, and instead of it being you build up to it, then it being a flashback, they do the preset up beforehand.
00:39:37.056 --> 00:39:37.346
Okay.
00:39:37.688 --> 00:39:40.777
So I think it makes more sense chronologically.
00:39:41.288 --> 00:39:52.148
Um, it was also a good refresher'cause in my mind the movie had nothing to do with the game and actually watching it, I'm like, oh yeah, that's in the movie.
00:39:52.208 --> 00:39:53.257
Oh yeah, that's in the movie.
00:39:53.536 --> 00:39:53.755
Hmm.
00:39:53.858 --> 00:39:56.737
So it's not as far off as I had originally thought.
00:39:56.797 --> 00:40:05.858
Um, but I, even though it wasn't like scary, I felt like Lauren and I were having a really great time with it.
00:40:05.947 --> 00:40:19.717
Uh, there's the scene where Lauren made all the choices to where the deer were like surrounding our characters on the cliff heads, and she's just like, they're gonna sense my spirit and I'm gonna just walk through.
00:40:20.228 --> 00:40:20.947
And I'm like, yep.
00:40:21.007 --> 00:40:24.458
The video game dear, I can sense that you're an animal lover.
00:40:25.568 --> 00:40:29.947
And then she just goes off and kicks some dog's head and, uh.
00:40:30.800 --> 00:40:41.085
this, this a replay wolf coming at me and there's like the little thing that you can like do to
00:40:41.228 --> 00:40:45.217
She finds the tokens, it gives her a flash forward
00:40:45.315 --> 00:40:45.766
Yeah,
00:40:45.907 --> 00:40:47.557
her being friends with the wolf.
00:40:47.626 --> 00:40:53.056
exactly, so it's like he's my friend, so if I hit this trigger, I'm gonna pet him.
00:40:53.416 --> 00:40:59.291
And he kicks like, no, I thought I was gonna pet.
00:41:01.050 --> 00:41:02.206
I actually almost cried, but,
00:41:06.615 --> 00:41:07.036
That's
00:41:07.306 --> 00:41:09.826
I did find a bone and I gave it to him.
00:41:09.826 --> 00:41:10.815
And then we were friends.
00:41:12.632 --> 00:41:12.922
Yeah.
00:41:13.387 --> 00:41:15.518
Um, so we were having a great time.
00:41:15.547 --> 00:41:18.967
Her hell divers experience has definitely helped out a lot.
00:41:19.027 --> 00:41:29.077
'cause watching her play, uh, QuickTime events in Detroit was like a real struggle to get stuff done.
00:41:29.257 --> 00:41:32.018
And this one, I don't think she missed a single one.
00:41:32.400 --> 00:41:33.030
That's really
00:41:33.195 --> 00:41:33.436
it was,
00:41:33.608 --> 00:41:34.822
She was killing it.
00:41:35.791 --> 00:41:36.570
good job.
00:41:37.666 --> 00:41:38.295
uh,
00:41:38.581 --> 00:41:39.931
more than that when I first played it.
00:41:40.726 --> 00:41:42.856
I think Detroit become human.
00:41:42.856 --> 00:41:45.871
I don't think that I clicked any of the right ones.
00:41:46.771 --> 00:41:47.490
That's
00:41:47.588 --> 00:41:49.807
was a few times, but we celebrated.
00:41:49.807 --> 00:41:55.117
We were like, Hey, you hit it, and then you would miss the next one because we were celebrating you hitting one.
00:41:55.365 --> 00:41:56.476
yeah, yeah.
00:41:56.498 --> 00:41:56.768
Yeah.
00:41:57.135 --> 00:41:59.985
Um, yeah, I did enjoy like that.
00:41:59.985 --> 00:42:02.775
And then there's like the part where you're walking through.
00:42:03.226 --> 00:42:07.996
Um, and it's the guy with the dog making it through the sanitarium.
00:42:08.596 --> 00:42:13.396
And the whole time I was like, Josh, if this dog dies, I'm immediately shutting this off.
00:42:16.065 --> 00:42:21.195
But the dog lived and the, an achievement popped up and it's like, oh, the dog survived.
00:42:21.195 --> 00:42:23.356
The sanitarium was like, he could have died.
00:42:24.911 --> 00:42:27.045
I was like, burned this game.
00:42:30.793 --> 00:42:31.012
Uh,
00:42:31.286 --> 00:42:31.405
Hmm.
00:42:31.568 --> 00:42:34.568
yeah, so I thought she was gonna rate it a little bit higher.
00:42:34.748 --> 00:42:38.737
Um, I'm not mad at her cho her choice of a seven outta 10.
00:42:39.188 --> 00:42:41.168
Um, I've actually cooled off on it.
00:42:41.168 --> 00:42:43.987
I'd be a lot closer to that with my rating as well.
00:42:44.498 --> 00:42:50.677
Um, my memory of it was definitely a lot higher than the reality of it.
00:42:51.097 --> 00:42:58.838
Um, even I was getting really exhausted with how much that they were just talking inappropriately to each other at the beginning.
00:42:59.617 --> 00:43:00.068
Um.
00:43:00.346 --> 00:43:01.365
it's so bad.
00:43:01.606 --> 00:43:06.376
Like, I'm like, doesn't work anybody.
00:43:09.413 --> 00:43:16.402
Yeah, just the like worst B movie kind of lines just over and over and over again.
00:43:16.552 --> 00:43:20.632
And then they finally give you a break with the cute little snowball fight.
00:43:20.632 --> 00:43:24.773
And you go, okay, it's finally a couple doing something cute.
00:43:25.072 --> 00:43:29.422
And then it immediately turns into, now do you want a bone here in the snow?
00:43:29.572 --> 00:43:32.572
And it's like, oh my gosh, shut up.
00:43:32.572 --> 00:43:39.112
And then you cut over to Emily and I forgot the, her boyfriend's name, who he, she's very clearly cheating on.
00:43:39.251 --> 00:43:39.541
Yeah.
00:43:39.862 --> 00:43:45.682
they're just like flirting and then calling each other terrible names and then flirting really hard.
00:43:45.682 --> 00:43:46.492
And you're like, just
00:43:47.911 --> 00:43:48.201
Stop.
00:43:48.472 --> 00:43:49.432
different ways.
00:43:49.432 --> 00:43:55.103
Just shove her off the cliff and move on with your life and make the world a better place.
00:43:55.132 --> 00:43:57.233
'cause she sucks so much.
00:43:57.322 --> 00:44:03.592
Um, uh, but yeah, I would've said like the Cory is not nearly as good as un until dawn.
00:44:04.898 --> 00:44:11.588
But now that I've seen un until Don a lot more recently, the last time I played the quarry was when it came out.
00:44:11.797 --> 00:44:21.547
Um, so I'll be playing it again, um, hopefully soon, but like, they're a lot closer in quality than I would've predicted
00:44:22.260 --> 00:44:22.550
Okay.
00:44:22.628 --> 00:44:23.467
before this.
00:44:23.498 --> 00:44:23.797
But
00:44:24.016 --> 00:44:29.206
Well, and like, uh, right after that I watched Josh play.
00:44:29.476 --> 00:44:32.295
Was it like an, it was just the very beginning
00:44:32.438 --> 00:44:34.327
it was the prologue of Macquarie.
00:44:34.327 --> 00:44:34.597
Yeah.
00:44:34.981 --> 00:44:35.061
Hmm.
00:44:35.206 --> 00:44:39.135
And I was like, that scared me way more than all of until.
00:44:40.041 --> 00:44:40.460
Really?
00:44:40.478 --> 00:44:40.807
Yeah.
00:44:41.588 --> 00:44:46.177
The witch in the forest at the beginning is genuinely really well done.
00:44:46.471 --> 00:44:51.960
Because like as they're crashing, she appears in the backseat, but they don't make a big deal about it.
00:44:51.960 --> 00:44:53.311
She's, she's just there.
00:44:53.536 --> 00:44:54.356
It is just nuanced.
00:44:54.601 --> 00:44:59.550
and I saw it and I was like, that set the tone and I don't like it.
00:45:01.530 --> 00:45:04.411
I'm like, that was, that was very well done for.
00:45:04.411 --> 00:45:04.860
Freaked out.
00:45:05.610 --> 00:45:05.791
Thanks.
00:45:07.806 --> 00:45:08.025
Um,
00:45:08.132 --> 00:45:12.668
Um, which is actually why I like the movie Woman in Black so much.
00:45:12.847 --> 00:45:15.248
It's because they do that more
00:45:15.255 --> 00:45:15.476
mm,
00:45:16.117 --> 00:45:17.378
than a lot of other horror movies.
00:45:17.378 --> 00:45:22.057
But yeah, I, I'm glad you had a pretty good time with it.
00:45:22.478 --> 00:45:27.128
I wish you would've liked it a little bit more, but seven out of ten's not bad.
00:45:27.751 --> 00:45:28.351
yeah.
00:45:28.411 --> 00:45:30.510
I was like, I, I'm not mad.
00:45:30.510 --> 00:45:31.260
I played it.
00:45:31.291 --> 00:45:31.981
I'm glad.
00:45:31.981 --> 00:45:39.240
Well, I mean, if you asked me, oh, I was very mad, but I'm not mad that I played it.
00:45:39.630 --> 00:45:42.240
Um, I like, I don't know.
00:45:42.240 --> 00:45:45.001
'cause like I've heard whisperings of this game for.
00:45:45.360 --> 00:45:51.811
While, um, and I was glad I didn't have anything ruined for me when I played it.
00:45:52.380 --> 00:46:06.331
Uh, and I do think it was a very interesting thing to have, like you think that it's just Josh being, uh, doing this psychological horror to his friends, and then you realize that there's more going on.
00:46:06.601 --> 00:46:34.411
But like, as I was finding all the clues and reading and like all of my, my janky ideas that I kept spouting out what I thought was happening, um, because I was like, okay, there's minors, also the natives, and then also there's this one guy who wants to kill the family, which I realize was all planted by Josh to like, um, make them think that there was some psycho out there, um, when it was really just him.
00:46:36.690 --> 00:46:43.320
and um, yeah, so I did like that aspect of it, of like me trying to piece it together.
00:46:43.681 --> 00:46:44.221
Um.
00:46:45.255 --> 00:46:47.686
But then it was kind of interesting to me.
00:46:47.775 --> 00:47:01.036
I, I also was kind of mad how the one guy who had been putting away the Wendys and like capturing them and stuff killed on a little outing to check to see if Josh was okay.
00:47:01.740 --> 00:47:04.246
Like, I was like, come on.
00:47:05.025 --> 00:47:06.885
I feel like he would've done better than that.
00:47:09.166 --> 00:47:11.505
But yeah, all in all,
00:47:11.581 --> 00:47:12.271
these people.
00:47:12.391 --> 00:47:13.681
It's like, you suck.
00:47:13.710 --> 00:47:15.240
You suck so bad.
00:47:15.300 --> 00:47:15.960
Come on.
00:47:15.960 --> 00:47:16.891
Do better
00:47:17.146 --> 00:47:23.115
Yeah, I, like, I don't think, I don't think I ever would've played this game just by myself.
00:47:23.115 --> 00:47:27.735
Like I would need to have somebody like it with me to enjoy it.
00:47:27.735 --> 00:47:33.315
So I definitely enjoyed it a lot more having Josh like, watch me play it so.
00:47:33.655 --> 00:47:33.945
Yeah.
00:47:34.291 --> 00:47:38.851
I wouldn't have, yeah, I don't even think I, I wouldn't have played it alone.
00:47:38.971 --> 00:47:40.231
It's not a game I would've played alone.
00:47:40.641 --> 00:47:41.010
Yeah.
00:47:41.251 --> 00:47:43.951
And not because I'm like, oh, I'm too scared to play it.
00:47:44.820 --> 00:47:45.030
Yeah.
00:47:45.030 --> 00:47:46.231
It's just, it's a group game.
00:47:46.260 --> 00:47:47.641
This is a fun group game.
00:47:48.436 --> 00:47:48.726
yeah.
00:47:51.878 --> 00:47:59.672
Yeah, it definitely riffs off of being able to riff off the game a little bit and laugh about how stupid the teenagers are.
00:48:00.376 --> 00:48:02.050
Yeah, it's one of the things I love about it.
00:48:02.563 --> 00:48:02.853
Yeah.
00:48:02.940 --> 00:48:06.690
it was, it was funny'cause at one point I was like, where's Sam?
00:48:06.780 --> 00:48:09.391
She went to go have a bath like five hours ago.
00:48:09.751 --> 00:48:12.481
Like she, and I'm like, everybody's gone.
00:48:12.570 --> 00:48:13.860
How is she still in the bath?
00:48:14.251 --> 00:48:17.101
I was like, I, and then Josh was like, you would be too.
00:48:17.161 --> 00:48:18.090
And I was like, no I wouldn't.
00:48:18.090 --> 00:48:19.681
I would've heard all these screaming and everything.
00:48:19.681 --> 00:48:21.721
He was like, not, you were like listening to your music and stuff.
00:48:21.721 --> 00:48:23.610
And I was like, could be listening to music in a bath.
00:48:23.880 --> 00:48:28.996
And then it like shows her and she's listening to music in the bath with her headphones.
00:48:30.096 --> 00:48:30.990
It was pretty funny.
00:48:34.373 --> 00:48:35.813
Okay, we're gonna leave it.
00:48:35.813 --> 00:48:38.753
With that, we're gonna go on to my topic now.
00:48:39.143 --> 00:48:44.873
Uh, my last topic, uh, for this episode is a show called Chad Powers.
00:48:45.233 --> 00:48:48.983
Uh, little bit of background because neither of you are really sports people.
00:48:49.432 --> 00:49:03.563
Uh, Eli Manning, um, famous quarterback, uh, for YouTube, um, went undercover, uh, to a college, um, just to like be funny and whatever, and make a YouTube.
00:49:04.103 --> 00:49:06.983
And he goes under the pseudonym of Chad Powers.
00:49:07.373 --> 00:49:12.592
Uh, for whatever reason, this decided to become.
00:49:14.137 --> 00:49:24.967
The premise for a show called Chad Powers, where Glen Powell plays an F Boy football player, um, who drops the ball on the one yard line in the final game of the playoffs.
00:49:24.967 --> 00:49:39.128
Blowing his whole career, gets really mad, punches a dad that falls onto a cancer patient's son and knocks them onto the ground and he blows up his whole life, uh, because he is just too f boy, I guess.
00:49:39.188 --> 00:49:49.208
Anyway, um, a team that is made up in Georgia call, uh, decides that they need a quarterback so they hold open tryouts.
00:49:49.208 --> 00:50:11.648
Six years after, um, uh, Glen Powell's character blows up his career, and so he decides he's going to put it on a bunch of makeup, drop the F Boy attitude and become Chad Powers, West Virginia Forest loving weirdo to get his second chance at football.
00:50:12.577 --> 00:50:18.038
Um, it's not the most serious show I admit.
00:50:18.217 --> 00:50:26.318
Um, but it did make me laugh a lot and it did make me root for Glen Powell's character.
00:50:26.677 --> 00:50:34.117
There's a female coach on the coaching staff and he starts to fall in love with her, obviously.
00:50:34.568 --> 00:50:50.288
And she actually has a similar kind of background story where she kinda lost everything and her dad is the head coach, so she got this job through nepotism and she isn't being taken very seriously on the coaching staff.
00:50:51.847 --> 00:50:57.427
And Glen Powell's character gets really, really, you know, into her.
00:50:57.427 --> 00:51:00.007
But he can't do anything'cause she's the coach.
00:51:00.788 --> 00:51:09.697
So he decides to go to a bar as his old character, uh, or his old, yeah, his real identity, quote unquote.
00:51:10.643 --> 00:51:19.672
And just, you know, so he gets drunk, he meets this girl, he sleeps with her in his, um, cyber truck.
00:51:20.512 --> 00:51:24.532
She makes fun of football and says, why did PE anybody take this any seriously?
00:51:24.893 --> 00:51:26.603
It's just a stupid football game.
00:51:26.842 --> 00:51:33.503
He gets mad'cause he's a football player and she even recognized him as a football player, but he figured it's just a one night stand, whatever.
00:51:34.702 --> 00:51:35.032
Okay?
00:51:35.393 --> 00:51:40.282
We fast forward to, uh, he's doing really well.
00:51:40.342 --> 00:51:43.463
SportsCenter and ESPN wanna do a special on him.
00:51:43.463 --> 00:51:52.222
And what they decide to do is he's gonna have a dinner with the coaches family to talk about the upcoming big game, right?
00:51:53.123 --> 00:51:57.833
So he goes, um, shows up at this thing.
00:51:57.833 --> 00:52:06.833
He says We're, uh, Chad Powers character, um, when, who walks in to this dinner, coaches wife.
00:52:07.523 --> 00:52:11.063
Who also happens to be his one night stand from the night before.
00:52:12.472 --> 00:52:18.623
And so they're sitting there, he's having the most uncomfortable dinner of his entire life.
00:52:18.652 --> 00:52:27.742
ESPN is like, Hey, let's have the wife talk about how hard it is to be The wife's the, uh, the coach's wife.
00:52:28.132 --> 00:52:31.282
And so she starts blowing.
00:52:31.282 --> 00:52:33.952
She's like, I, I freaking hate it.
00:52:33.952 --> 00:52:37.373
So ESPN is like, holy shit, we gotta step away.
00:52:37.373 --> 00:52:48.023
So they leave and it's just, uh, Glen Powell, the daughter that he's into, the coach and the coach's wife and the coach's wife spurts out.
00:52:48.322 --> 00:52:54.353
I hooked up with Russell in the back of his cyber truck last night because our marriage is so bad.
00:52:54.353 --> 00:52:55.492
X, Y, z, whatever.
00:52:55.943 --> 00:53:03.083
And so the coach loses his mind and he throws his keys and he turns back to the camera and he goes.
00:53:03.518 --> 00:53:06.307
What the fuck is a cyber truck?
00:53:06.367 --> 00:53:07.748
And it's just so fun.
00:53:07.807 --> 00:53:09.788
That's the kind of show that this is.
00:53:10.027 --> 00:53:14.887
It's meant to just be a whole big laugh.
00:53:15.338 --> 00:53:19.898
Um, but you do actually start to care about Glen Powell's character.
00:53:20.288 --> 00:53:24.608
Um, he plays the F Boy thing really well.
00:53:24.847 --> 00:53:25.987
The stuff he does.
00:53:26.168 --> 00:53:29.527
Like he's trying to make up his background, his backstory, whatever.
00:53:29.918 --> 00:53:35.797
And he's like, uh, the coach asks, how many people have you played in front of before?
00:53:35.797 --> 00:53:38.047
And he's like, oh, well that depends.
00:53:38.378 --> 00:53:41.737
And they're like, depends on what, he's like the wolves.
00:53:42.307 --> 00:53:43.297
They're like the wolves.
00:53:43.297 --> 00:53:46.597
And he's like, well, they like to feed when it's a full moon.
00:53:46.807 --> 00:53:51.757
So depending on the night we played, the wolves would scare off the children.
00:53:52.418 --> 00:53:55.748
And you're like, what the freak is this guy talking about?
00:53:56.137 --> 00:53:56.527
Um.
00:53:58.072 --> 00:54:06.293
He gets a friend who also plays the mascot and the mascot is gay and so he can help with the makeup and all this kinds of stuff.
00:54:06.322 --> 00:54:08.302
It is a very funny show.
00:54:08.813 --> 00:54:19.402
Um, I, I would compare it to Ted Lasso in the fact that it's a silly premise, but also deals with a bunch of serious stuff, um, but not near as good as Ted Lasso.
00:54:19.402 --> 00:54:21.893
Don't go into it thinking this is Ted Lasso.
00:54:22.222 --> 00:54:24.322
It's just the same kind of thing.
00:54:24.322 --> 00:54:32.722
Like what if he put up on makeup and got a second chance at football and instead of, what if he went to England and became a soccer coach?
00:54:32.722 --> 00:54:33.353
Kind of a thing.
00:54:34.222 --> 00:54:37.523
Um, it is absolutely wa worth watching.
00:54:37.552 --> 00:54:38.512
I'm loving it.
00:54:38.992 --> 00:54:44.722
Um, I'm a little upset because I was talking to Conlin about this.
00:54:44.722 --> 00:54:46.043
He was here in Hawaii.
00:54:46.313 --> 00:54:54.713
He and his wife went and did something all day, so I had binge watched all but the last episode and they were building up to this big moment with like the big.
00:54:55.432 --> 00:54:57.893
Game of the season versus Georgia.
00:54:58.552 --> 00:55:10.913
And there was, I knew there was only one episode left, but I had to wait a week and I finally got to see it and it's a cliffhanger and they still haven't even been renewed for a season two, which makes me angry.
00:55:11.393 --> 00:55:16.282
But if they do a season two, I will absolutely watch it.
00:55:16.492 --> 00:55:17.842
I'm having a great time with it.
00:55:17.842 --> 00:55:20.362
I'm giving it an 8.4 out of 10.
00:55:21.713 --> 00:55:22.342
It's a great job,
00:55:22.501 --> 00:55:22.820
solid.
00:55:23.092 --> 00:55:23.722
having a great time.
00:55:24.451 --> 00:55:27.221
Yeah, I, I've been wanting a funny show.
00:55:27.751 --> 00:55:30.601
Um, trying 30 rock right now.
00:55:30.661 --> 00:55:31.771
It's kind of hit or miss.
00:55:31.981 --> 00:55:32.820
I might give this a shot.
00:55:35.273 --> 00:55:36.713
I, I'm having a great time with it.
00:55:36.713 --> 00:55:38.092
It's hard for me to recommend.
00:55:38.123 --> 00:55:48.802
'cause I don't know, like as a college football fan, there's a lot of stuff that I'm just accepting because college football, I don't know if it matters or not, though.
00:55:49.523 --> 00:55:51.023
I'm, but I am enjoying it.
00:55:51.023 --> 00:55:52.373
I give it a shot.
00:55:52.378 --> 00:55:53.543
Let, let me know what you think.
00:55:53.597 --> 00:55:53.717
'cause.
00:55:55.762 --> 00:56:00.728
It is only six episodes and they're not very long.
00:56:01.297 --> 00:56:08.347
Uh, this is the one Lauren that I was talking about where the end credits was different music.
00:56:08.527 --> 00:56:11.588
Um, some of them are Phantom of the Opera that I was belting.
00:56:11.947 --> 00:56:12.878
That's from this show.
00:56:13.418 --> 00:56:13.688
Yeah.
00:56:14.266 --> 00:56:14.556
Okay,
00:56:16.402 --> 00:56:17.768
But okay.
00:56:17.768 --> 00:56:21.878
With that, let's hop down to our shared topic this week.
00:56:22.418 --> 00:56:27.907
Uh, we're gonna start with Lauren'cause she recommended a horror thing for us.
00:56:27.967 --> 00:56:30.367
So why don't you tell us what it is and what you thought Lauren.
00:56:31.661 --> 00:56:34.360
so come play is, um.
00:56:35.340 --> 00:56:41.521
A horror thriller where, uh, it follows this main character that's a kid who's autistic.
00:56:41.760 --> 00:56:44.221
He only speaks through his tablet.
00:56:44.670 --> 00:56:49.471
Um, but something's talking to him through his tablet, um, as well.
00:56:49.471 --> 00:57:09.420
And like, I thought it was kind of a good, uh, premise where it was like, um, he's this story of this creature named Larry that's like lonely because, um, this main character, he can't friends.
00:57:09.420 --> 00:57:13.831
People are, uh, he's getting bullied for being autistic, um, and being different.
00:57:13.831 --> 00:57:26.311
And so then this story about Larry pops up onto his, um, iPad and it's like talking about, it's kind of mirroring what this kid's going through.
00:57:26.311 --> 00:57:27.780
He is like, oh, Larry's different.
00:57:27.780 --> 00:57:31.981
Larry wants a friend because he's misunderstood and lonely.
00:57:32.340 --> 00:57:32.971
Um.
00:57:33.811 --> 00:57:43.831
then, uh, it starts saying like, you need to finish the, this book to invite Larry to your world, uh, so that you guys won't be lonely anymore.
00:57:44.070 --> 00:57:50.670
But it's like saying stuff like, if you look through the window, LA or like Larry will look at you through the window and stuff like that.
00:57:50.670 --> 00:58:02.251
And it keeps, um, so I thought this was kind of creepy at the beginning when it was saying like, yeah, he's looking you through this, and somebody starts reading this story, like the lights will start flickering.
00:58:02.731 --> 00:58:11.070
Uh, because apparently Larry will travel through electricity and that's like, kind of like his gateway into our world.
00:58:12.121 --> 00:58:27.271
Um, so yeah, that, that's like the main gist of it is that they're like trying not to finish the book so that, uh, well, the mom finds out at one point that there's something.
00:58:27.885 --> 00:58:32.326
Trying to take her kid, but she doesn't really piece everything together.
00:58:32.326 --> 00:58:42.615
She just thinks that it's somebody who's threatening to take her kid and is speaking to her through the tablet, through the little word things that, um, her son uses.
00:58:44.266 --> 00:58:47.686
And I thought that that was actually pretty interesting.
00:58:47.686 --> 00:58:59.956
And I suggested this movie because I saw the very ending on TikTok and I was like, oh, that's, wanna know how we got here and what happens like after.
00:59:00.315 --> 00:59:08.806
Um, and that part was where, uh, Larry's like to, uh, accept to be Larry's friend.
00:59:08.806 --> 00:59:18.496
You take his hand and then Larry will take you back to his world and then your friends or whatever, but probably more sinister and, um.
00:59:19.141 --> 00:59:30.931
So Larry's like holding his hand out to the autistic kid, and the kid's like reaching out, but then the mom grabs Larry's hand before the kid can, she says, I'll be, I'll be your friend Larry.
00:59:31.260 --> 00:59:41.371
And I was like, I'm like, I feel like this is such a really good, uh, like this would really hit if I watch the whole movie, like the, the self-sacrificing thing.
00:59:44.070 --> 00:59:50.340
but I think it was just like very, I, I wasn't scared at all throughout this movie.
00:59:50.340 --> 00:59:55.110
Like it didn't feel intense at me, intense for me throughout any of it.
00:59:55.141 --> 01:00:07.081
And I don't know if it's because I knew that scene was going to happen, um, or, um, yeah, I, I wasn't freaked out at all.
01:00:07.530 --> 01:00:12.751
Uh, other than I think also in my mind I was like, dude, Larry just wants a friend.
01:00:12.811 --> 01:00:13.650
Like stop freaking out.
01:00:16.081 --> 01:00:17.041
He just alone like.
01:00:17.670 --> 01:00:18.900
He's just a lonely dude.
01:00:19.101 --> 01:00:22.155
Just bitch, somebody take this man's hand.
01:00:22.155 --> 01:00:23.295
He needs a friend.
01:00:26.326 --> 01:00:38.985
Um, and so like the mom takes his hand and then she like, I felt like that part was unnecessary where her face kind of gets all creepy and like not, and then all of a sudden she just vanishes.
01:00:39.675 --> 01:00:44.505
Um, when she's like smiling at her son, I was like, yeah, let's just traumatize your son further.
01:00:45.976 --> 01:00:50.385
I don't think that she actually knew that she freak him out.
01:00:52.545 --> 01:00:58.246
and then like later, uh, it seems like Larry's back trying to get the kid after he took the mom.
01:00:58.246 --> 01:01:11.085
But then you realize it's the mom visiting the kid and he's like, twirling, she's twirling him around the living room and the dad's like using his phone to see that she's there.
01:01:12.106 --> 01:01:12.916
Uh,'cause he was scared.
01:01:12.916 --> 01:01:17.266
It was Larry again, but then ended up being his wife and he's like, oh.
01:01:18.525 --> 01:01:19.755
My heart and then it ended.
01:01:20.445 --> 01:01:28.876
Um, so I, yeah, I, I wasn't impressed.
01:01:28.996 --> 01:01:34.096
I was kind of sad that I felt like it was lackluster to me.
01:01:34.155 --> 01:01:41.085
Um, I felt like that scene would mean more if I had watched the movie in its entirety.
01:01:41.115 --> 01:01:44.476
'cause there was like, she says, I love you, I love all of you.
01:01:44.715 --> 01:01:48.405
And that's where I was like, Ooh, that intrigues me to want to see the whole movie.
01:01:48.735 --> 01:01:53.085
And then, yeah, know it.
01:01:54.885 --> 01:01:55.335
Yeah.
01:01:55.380 --> 01:01:57.621
I, I, I, what do you guys think?
01:01:58.733 --> 01:02:00.802
Well, what did you rate it on a scale of one to 10?
01:02:01.771 --> 01:02:02.061
Four.
01:02:03.233 --> 01:02:03.472
Okay.
01:02:03.811 --> 01:02:09.751
I thought it would freak you out a little bit more where they don't show the creature a whole lot until
01:02:11.280 --> 01:02:14.235
I mean, they have the little, um.
01:02:15.083 --> 01:02:15.503
Book.
01:02:16.201 --> 01:02:22.501
it shows like what type of, and it's like they're going for like a slenderman thing.
01:02:22.650 --> 01:02:23.670
Yeah, for sure.
01:02:23.722 --> 01:02:24.472
I disagree.
01:02:25.110 --> 01:02:25.440
you know,
01:02:25.545 --> 01:02:25.755
That's
01:02:25.891 --> 01:02:26.340
Slenderman.
01:02:26.385 --> 01:02:26.865
I thought.
01:02:27.503 --> 01:02:31.822
No, it's very clearly the monsters from Scooby-Doo monsters unleashed.
01:02:33.766 --> 01:02:35.175
It does kind of look like that
01:02:35.425 --> 01:02:35.715
Yeah.
01:02:35.873 --> 01:02:37.373
it looks exactly like that.
01:02:37.733 --> 01:02:50.032
It looks like they were like, Hey, we don't have a lot of budget, so let's take the scuba doo monsters and do it in the Scott style of Spy Kids 3D and hope that the plot carries this,
01:02:50.900 --> 01:02:51.021
I.
01:02:52.688 --> 01:02:54.418
because that's what it looks like.
01:02:55.831 --> 01:02:56.431
Yeah.
01:02:56.490 --> 01:03:04.170
I think the only thing that spooked me was when they're like, he looks at you through the window and I was like, are my blinds closed?
01:03:04.170 --> 01:03:04.771
Yes, they are.
01:03:04.771 --> 01:03:05.280
Okay, good.
01:03:07.621 --> 01:03:12.451
That was the only thing that kind of got me, but yeah.
01:03:13.530 --> 01:03:13.740
a bit.
01:03:13.740 --> 01:03:17.070
I was just like, Larry just wants a friend, guys.
01:03:17.070 --> 01:03:18.210
Just give him one.
01:03:21.001 --> 01:03:22.141
The kid wants a friend too.
01:03:22.860 --> 01:03:23.340
Match me.
01:03:27.376 --> 01:03:30.465
Yeah, I was, it was kind of like a monsters ink kind of a thing.
01:03:31.206 --> 01:03:32.155
yeah, a little bit.
01:03:34.110 --> 01:03:34.440
Yeah.
01:03:34.726 --> 01:03:35.746
who lives under your closet.
01:03:35.746 --> 01:03:37.096
It's just a nice dude.
01:03:37.155 --> 01:03:38.775
Just, just, just, hey, out.
01:03:38.775 --> 01:03:39.045
It's cool.
01:03:39.840 --> 01:03:43.726
He's really bad at, at, um, standup, but he's trying to get into it.
01:03:46.391 --> 01:03:46.510
I,
01:03:46.547 --> 01:03:46.838
Okay.
01:03:46.842 --> 01:03:49.588
Conline, what did you think of this movie?
01:03:49.695 --> 01:03:53.085
I am quite a bit more positive on this movie than Lauren.
01:03:53.686 --> 01:04:00.945
Um, I think doing a good monster movie is extremely hard to do and there are very, very few of them.
01:04:01.876 --> 01:04:05.806
I think this is a pretty passable, pretty good movie.
01:04:05.985 --> 01:04:08.626
I don't think it's great, but it's pretty good.
01:04:09.525 --> 01:04:13.065
biggest problem with this movie is I don't think the mom is a good actress.
01:04:13.666 --> 01:04:17.266
Like, and it's an annoying, like she's just not bad.
01:04:18.106 --> 01:04:20.115
If she was just bad, I'd be like, oh, she just sucked.
01:04:21.045 --> 01:04:28.215
I was like, you should be better than you are'cause you're not good, but you're not horrible.
01:04:28.936 --> 01:04:39.826
And it was more annoying that if she was just bad, um, I think if they would've replaced this main actress with somebody else who was better.
01:04:40.065 --> 01:04:46.215
This movie goes up quite a bit in my head because I think the monster is actually fairly effective.
01:04:46.666 --> 01:04:51.286
Um, I do think it is kind of a, he just wants to be friends, so just be friends.
01:04:53.735 --> 01:04:53.956
Um.
01:04:54.090 --> 01:04:54.420
could.
01:04:54.481 --> 01:04:55.981
It could have been better.
01:04:56.041 --> 01:05:02.851
Like the writing could have been better, the acting could have been better, but none of it was awful to me.
01:05:03.061 --> 01:05:04.561
And it made for an enjoyable time.
01:05:04.561 --> 01:05:07.621
Like I had had a good time with this movie.
01:05:07.681 --> 01:05:16.501
Overall, I think this movie sets up a far more interesting movie and we should get a sequel and this would literally go on my list
01:05:16.583 --> 01:05:17.568
There is the sequel.
01:05:18.391 --> 01:05:21.121
I have to watch that they won't do what I want them to do.
01:05:21.541 --> 01:05:32.911
But I would love this if the mom, there's so many different stories where you have this overbearing mother who won't let go of their child and I could see her becoming this, but he can't escape it.
01:05:32.911 --> 01:05:39.510
'cause everywhere in the world there's just technology and anywhere there's technology, he has to, he has to connect with his overbearing mother.
01:05:39.990 --> 01:05:41.340
I would love that movie.
01:05:41.431 --> 01:05:43.561
And he is like older, he is like 16 or 17.
01:05:43.561 --> 01:05:44.641
He's aged up a little bit.
01:05:44.641 --> 01:05:46.471
He doesn't wanna be with his mom all the time.
01:05:46.920 --> 01:05:49.320
That would be fascinating if the creators of this movie.
01:05:49.576 --> 01:05:51.646
See create that movie?
01:05:51.675 --> 01:05:52.936
'cause that would be better than this movie.
01:05:53.956 --> 01:06:00.226
think this is a, it's rated A, a 5.8 on IMDB.
01:06:00.226 --> 01:06:01.275
I think that's a little low.
01:06:01.485 --> 01:06:02.925
I'd probably give like a 6.5.
01:06:03.286 --> 01:06:04.786
I think it's a decent fun little time.
01:06:04.786 --> 01:06:04.846
I
01:06:06.427 --> 01:06:06.717
Okay.
01:06:07.126 --> 01:06:16.905
the actresses, uh, Gillian Jacobs and I was like, the whole time I was trying to think of what she is on and seen her on community, that's where I know her from.
01:06:17.775 --> 01:06:19.005
Oh, okay.
01:06:19.065 --> 01:06:20.596
I couldn't figure out who it was either.
01:06:20.655 --> 01:06:23.536
I was like, know, I know you from something.
01:06:23.956 --> 01:06:24.405
Yeah.
01:06:24.436 --> 01:06:25.576
Should change your hair color.
01:06:25.666 --> 01:06:26.565
she is in this movie.
01:06:26.565 --> 01:06:27.585
She just should,
01:06:29.701 --> 01:06:29.990
Yeah,
01:06:31.576 --> 01:06:32.835
she's on a freaking bear.
01:06:32.896 --> 01:06:33.106
Yeah.
01:06:33.106 --> 01:06:35.686
She should be better than she's in this movie,
01:06:37.545 --> 01:06:37.996
yeah.
01:06:37.996 --> 01:06:40.666
And that can all be up to like directors too.
01:06:40.695 --> 01:06:45.255
'cause sometimes directors really screw over actors and actresses and stuff.
01:06:45.621 --> 01:06:48.525
but I don't feel like anyone else is as bad.
01:06:49.275 --> 01:06:51.346
Like the kid does a pretty good job.
01:06:51.675 --> 01:06:54.135
The father does a pretty good job.
01:06:54.556 --> 01:06:56.266
She's not very good.
01:06:57.766 --> 01:07:03.496
I, um, the kid who played Oliver, I couldn't, I disagree.
01:07:03.525 --> 01:07:10.576
His acting, I was like, I couldn't tell if he was like intrigued or like scared at sometimes.
01:07:10.786 --> 01:07:17.146
So I, I was like, I would get mixed signals with him of what was actually supposed to be going on.
01:07:17.146 --> 01:07:22.635
And to have like a nonverbal character, you need to be able to nail that.
01:07:23.085 --> 01:07:33.166
Um, so I think that also was, I was like, because at first I wasn't sure if Oliver's like, yeah, I want a friend.
01:07:33.585 --> 01:07:34.666
Let's make him be my friend.
01:07:34.666 --> 01:07:35.536
I wanna go.
01:07:35.835 --> 01:07:37.876
And then I was like, oh, wait, no, he is scared.
01:07:38.025 --> 01:07:39.076
Wait, is he scared?
01:07:40.905 --> 01:07:43.096
So like, yeah.
01:07:43.101 --> 01:07:43.811
Anyway, I.
01:07:45.460 --> 01:07:45.760
All right.
01:07:45.907 --> 01:07:46.117
Well that
01:07:46.215 --> 01:07:46.335
do you
01:07:46.478 --> 01:07:49.327
went exactly as I predicted.
01:07:49.831 --> 01:07:50.340
Really,
01:07:50.708 --> 01:07:53.737
I watched this movie and I was like, Collin's gonna kind of like it.
01:07:54.157 --> 01:07:58.327
Lauren's not really gonna kinda like get Conlin.
01:07:59.768 --> 01:08:00.818
Brief prediction.
01:08:00.818 --> 01:08:02.887
What do you think I'm gonna say about this movie?
01:08:04.260 --> 01:08:08.431
um, I honestly thought you were gonna have a good time with it too.
01:08:09.300 --> 01:08:12.360
Be fairly similar to me, is what I thought.
01:08:13.297 --> 01:08:16.837
Okay, I'm lower than Lauren on this movie.
01:08:17.198 --> 01:08:18.667
I hate this movie.
01:08:18.667 --> 01:08:20.738
This movie is total crap.
01:08:20.948 --> 01:08:23.707
It has zero redeeming qualities.
01:08:24.037 --> 01:08:28.268
Um, I'm glad you guys enjoyed it as much as you did.
01:08:28.688 --> 01:08:32.707
Um, I thought the plot sucked.
01:08:32.978 --> 01:08:35.587
Um, I didn't find it scary at all.
01:08:35.587 --> 01:08:42.728
I thought the monster looked like the monsters from Scooby do, and that was not terrifying at all.
01:08:42.728 --> 01:08:43.957
It was rather funny.
01:08:44.797 --> 01:08:51.427
I am still confused to this day on how that monster even works because you have to accept it to be your friend.
01:08:52.028 --> 01:08:52.722
And if you don't.
01:08:53.557 --> 01:08:57.278
Then what Conlan, why did the mom sacrifice herself?
01:08:57.337 --> 01:09:02.703
Couldn't she have just been like, no, whatcha gonna do now?
01:09:03.046 --> 01:09:04.786
way maybe to get it to go away.
01:09:05.467 --> 01:09:06.728
Except it's on a timer.
01:09:06.757 --> 01:09:09.127
They established it's on a timer.
01:09:09.127 --> 01:09:11.108
It doesn't have infinite time.
01:09:11.746 --> 01:09:11.956
You're
01:09:12.007 --> 01:09:20.768
So they could have just been, they could have just sat crust arms staring at dead in the face and being like, what now bitch, whatcha gonna do?
01:09:21.376 --> 01:09:24.886
And they haven't shown that it's willing to be super violent.
01:09:24.886 --> 01:09:27.765
Like it, it threw the kid into a corner, but that's really all it does.
01:09:28.297 --> 01:09:28.658
Yeah.
01:09:28.658 --> 01:09:38.887
It's like, I get that this would be terrifying to experience, but the way they displayed it, I'm like, I don't, is light, it's weakness or it's strength.
01:09:39.007 --> 01:09:41.078
I still don't know'cause.
01:09:41.453 --> 01:09:44.813
They kind of establish that like it burns when the light comes on.
01:09:44.813 --> 01:09:45.233
Yeah.
01:09:45.472 --> 01:09:50.092
But then they turn off all the lights and I'm like, shine your flashlight at it, moron.
01:09:50.453 --> 01:09:51.893
Like, whatcha doing?
01:09:51.893 --> 01:09:53.512
You have one in your hand.
01:09:53.512 --> 01:09:54.802
It's called a phone.
01:09:55.193 --> 01:10:00.592
Um, I, all of those reasons or reasons I didn't like it.
01:10:00.592 --> 01:10:02.993
I actually didn't have a problem with any of the acting.
01:10:03.382 --> 01:10:06.743
Um, I agree with Lauren that the kid was very confusing.
01:10:06.743 --> 01:10:11.993
I didn't really know whether he was scared or interested or wanted to be the friend or was whatever.
01:10:12.502 --> 01:10:21.922
Um, the reason I hated it and the reason I felt like it worked for you, Conlin, is I think the symbology is very much depression.
01:10:22.882 --> 01:10:25.042
And so I predicted you were gonna like it.
01:10:25.073 --> 01:10:29.063
'cause just like we were talking about in our episode last week, it's always there.
01:10:29.122 --> 01:10:30.863
You know, you always come back to it and it's always there.
01:10:30.893 --> 01:10:33.412
I think they portrayed that very well.
01:10:33.953 --> 01:10:38.332
Um, I just also felt like they put depression in this box.
01:10:39.818 --> 01:10:42.398
That said, loneliness is the only cause of it.
01:10:42.787 --> 01:10:47.257
And if you just have a friend, you'll never feel it and it won't ever be a problem.
01:10:47.557 --> 01:10:50.257
And also you can just leave to escape it.
01:10:50.287 --> 01:10:54.518
So I absolutely despise it for telling that message.
01:10:54.518 --> 01:10:58.087
At least in my mind, that depression is this, just this box.
01:10:58.118 --> 01:11:03.278
'cause like I have depression, I don't get to escape it ever.
01:11:03.368 --> 01:11:06.488
I can't just like go away and have it be fine.
01:11:07.028 --> 01:11:14.887
Loneliness is a big part to that, but it's not like the only thing that causes it or triggers it or whatever.
01:11:15.787 --> 01:11:20.228
And even then they kept telling you that it's it.
01:11:20.467 --> 01:11:24.997
This de depression is born and grows through loneliness.
01:11:25.177 --> 01:11:27.457
But why was that kid so lonely?
01:11:28.297 --> 01:11:33.547
Like he had a mom and dad who loved him very much, took care of him, gave all them these things.
01:11:33.908 --> 01:11:34.837
He had a friend.
01:11:34.837 --> 01:11:37.188
Yeah, he kinda lost that friend for a little bit, but like.
01:11:38.273 --> 01:11:39.802
Got that front back too.
01:11:40.403 --> 01:11:46.523
And there was just not this like impending doom feeling at all through the movie.
01:11:46.523 --> 01:11:50.092
Like the mom sacrificed herself and I was like, that was unnecessary.
01:11:51.353 --> 01:11:56.363
And then they show him like twirling around and I'm like, so he lost nothing.
01:11:57.592 --> 01:11:59.002
He literally lost
01:11:59.115 --> 01:11:59.235
the
01:11:59.273 --> 01:11:59.842
nothing.
01:12:00.533 --> 01:12:02.063
This cost him nothing.
01:12:02.243 --> 01:12:03.712
They didn't deal with the monster.
01:12:03.712 --> 01:12:04.432
They didn't fight it.
01:12:04.882 --> 01:12:07.823
They accepted it and everything is fine now.
01:12:07.823 --> 01:12:08.693
Like I just.
01:12:08.956 --> 01:12:14.355
In fact, the mom might be able to communicate better because they can communicate through technology
01:12:14.655 --> 01:12:15.046
It.
01:12:15.076 --> 01:12:15.435
they want.
01:12:15.796 --> 01:12:26.416
It did seem like it was like this whole thing bettered their family because like she was complaining about how she's like, I'm always like, I have to be the strict one.
01:12:26.416 --> 01:12:29.326
He doesn't like me because I'm the one taking him to his doctor's appointment.
01:12:29.595 --> 01:12:33.466
And then you just show up and you get to be fun and all of that.
01:12:33.466 --> 01:12:36.376
And then I'm back to being like, I don't get to have those fun times.
01:12:36.796 --> 01:12:43.845
But now that she's like gone now, she just gets the fun times with them and the dad now has to do all of the like strict things.
01:12:43.845 --> 01:12:44.475
And I was like.
01:12:45.555 --> 01:12:46.636
They're gonna get a robot.
01:12:46.636 --> 01:12:47.985
She's gonna run that robot.
01:12:47.985 --> 01:12:49.666
They're gonna have blender.
01:12:49.695 --> 01:12:50.235
Immediately.
01:12:50.235 --> 01:12:52.666
Turns on Ultimate Smart House.
01:12:53.270 --> 01:12:53.490
It
01:12:56.551 --> 01:13:04.740
He's like, we're going to the countryside where we're now having a composite toilet, a well and, uh, no power Candlelight.
01:13:05.951 --> 01:13:07.041
candlelight always.
01:13:08.265 --> 01:13:11.801
No, I think this movie actually works better as a fantasy movie rather than a horror movie.
01:13:13.171 --> 01:13:15.180
Even though I, it is, I, it's a good creature feature.
01:13:15.180 --> 01:13:17.100
I think it works better as a fantasy movie.
01:13:17.886 --> 01:13:18.176
Yeah.
01:13:18.592 --> 01:13:21.412
Uh, I don't think it's good creature feature.
01:13:21.622 --> 01:13:24.922
I don't think the Scooby-Doo monsters are terrifying at all.
01:13:25.432 --> 01:13:30.893
I think that they were even look even worse in this movie than they do in Scooby-Doo.
01:13:30.961 --> 01:13:32.581
are outta your freaking mind.
01:13:32.581 --> 01:13:34.230
No, no.
01:13:34.951 --> 01:13:35.671
Sorry.
01:13:36.030 --> 01:13:36.360
No.
01:13:36.360 --> 01:13:37.350
They look like trash.
01:13:37.350 --> 01:13:37.921
And Scooby do.
01:13:38.280 --> 01:13:38.820
No,
01:13:38.832 --> 01:13:39.113
agree.
01:13:40.012 --> 01:13:40.313
Yep.
01:13:40.372 --> 01:13:41.993
I agree with you 100%
01:13:42.060 --> 01:13:43.201
look way better in this.
01:13:43.201 --> 01:13:45.060
It looks way better in this movie.
01:13:45.180 --> 01:13:46.261
It's not even close.
01:13:46.672 --> 01:13:47.273
completely.
01:13:47.400 --> 01:13:47.640
better.
01:13:48.323 --> 01:13:48.712
You know.
01:13:48.832 --> 01:13:52.938
Um, so yeah, I am giving this a two out of 10.
01:13:54.097 --> 01:13:54.938
Because I hate it.
01:13:54.997 --> 01:13:56.707
It's just a garbage movie.
01:13:56.707 --> 01:13:59.257
I wish I hadn't had watched this movie.
01:13:59.257 --> 01:14:00.278
That's how much I hate it.
01:14:00.337 --> 01:14:02.557
It just made me angry.
01:14:02.557 --> 01:14:03.637
That's all it really did.
01:14:04.456 --> 01:14:04.985
That sucks.
01:14:05.961 --> 01:14:06.796
Yeah, sorry.
01:14:06.818 --> 01:14:07.898
Sorry Lauren.
01:14:08.467 --> 01:14:11.228
I wanted to like, I wanted to like it.
01:14:11.557 --> 01:14:12.307
I really did.
01:14:12.307 --> 01:14:13.597
I wanted you to like it.
01:14:13.597 --> 01:14:18.007
I was very excited when you were like, here's a horror movie I wanna watch.
01:14:19.057 --> 01:14:19.988
I even pulled it up.
01:14:19.988 --> 01:14:25.778
I put the sequel on there too, and then we found out what the sequel was and I was like, okay, nevermind.
01:14:26.167 --> 01:14:30.158
But I really was excited for this one.
01:14:30.158 --> 01:14:35.287
I really wanted to like it as I hated everything about this movie,
01:14:36.615 --> 01:14:44.400
Um, I was really disappointed that the, uh, the mom sacrificing herself wasn't I thought it was gonna be.
01:14:45.525 --> 01:14:47.985
Why a two and not a one?
01:14:49.717 --> 01:14:51.787
uh, because.
01:14:52.823 --> 01:14:54.832
I think the premise is okay,
01:14:55.831 --> 01:14:56.121
Okay.
01:14:56.962 --> 01:15:10.283
if they would've actually like flushed out and thought about this premise, like the thing was, you know, afraid of the light or whatever, then I would've liked it a lot more.
01:15:10.882 --> 01:15:16.703
But I was sitting like, I was like, why, why not just not deal with it?
01:15:17.932 --> 01:15:30.802
Like, just the option to do nothing is right there and there's no threat of anything happening otherwise, like they say, it'll kill your loved ones if you don't say yes to being its friend.
01:15:31.342 --> 01:15:34.283
But then they're also like, finish the book and it's fine.
01:15:34.283 --> 01:15:37.042
And it's like, okay, finish the book.
01:15:37.222 --> 01:15:42.832
Then like as, uh, it, it didn't really, it wasn't flushed out.
01:15:42.890 --> 01:15:43.180
Yeah.
01:15:43.222 --> 01:15:46.462
Uh, it definitely needed a rewrite
01:15:46.496 --> 01:15:46.615
fair.
01:15:46.943 --> 01:15:48.292
20 times over.
01:15:48.743 --> 01:15:51.233
Um, I think it could have been there.
01:15:52.148 --> 01:15:55.417
Um, I actually didn't like him being special needs.
01:15:55.417 --> 01:16:01.478
I think it would've been better if it was like selective mutism, like
01:16:04.706 --> 01:16:05.105
I agree.
01:16:05.108 --> 01:16:09.967
mom accidentally hit him with a car or something like that and he just hasn't talked since then.
01:16:09.997 --> 01:16:12.007
Like there's actually like trauma there.
01:16:12.398 --> 01:16:13.568
I think it would've worked better.
01:16:13.597 --> 01:16:31.957
Like there's enough there that I'm like, okay, if you were to tweak this and tweak that and change that and make it an entirely different monster and change the way it's filmed and have a different director and make the actors do a little bit better job and, you know, change the scenery and change the plot and change everything about it.
01:16:32.610 --> 01:16:32.970
my,
01:16:33.578 --> 01:16:33.847
Movie.
01:16:34.201 --> 01:16:40.470
my other negative that I didn't bring up and it, I don't know, it debated me dropping it lower because of this.
01:16:40.680 --> 01:16:48.661
I was like, when do you make fun of a kid with mental disabilities like that?
01:16:49.051 --> 01:16:55.201
Even guys who like, when you're 10 years old, 12 years old, 13-year-old, you can be pretty damn harsh with each other.
01:16:55.935 --> 01:17:06.076
If you make fun of a kid with autism that was getting canceled before canceled was a thing, like you would just get socially destroyed.
01:17:06.166 --> 01:17:14.595
You don't make fun of a kid with autism and it didn't feel authentic where maybe if he was selectively mute, there'd be, but he was normal.
01:17:14.595 --> 01:17:18.225
Otherwise, there'd be more of a, I can buy this, but I didn't buy that.
01:17:18.225 --> 01:17:23.086
They would make fun of, or pick on or push down a kid that was like that.
01:17:23.086 --> 01:17:23.565
I just don't.
01:17:24.703 --> 01:17:32.108
I agree completely and like it even would've made sense with how they were making fun of him because he would've been getting special treatment
01:17:32.746 --> 01:17:33.136
Yeah.
01:17:33.637 --> 01:17:36.787
for a different reason than he just isn't capable.
01:17:36.938 --> 01:17:37.297
Um.
01:17:37.756 --> 01:17:47.145
Which even if you're the biggest jackass in school, just on a, I don't want to be socially ostracized level, you don't make fun of that kid.
01:17:47.948 --> 01:17:48.307
Yeah.
01:17:48.877 --> 01:17:54.698
Um, so yeah, it's, it's just not very good.
01:17:55.747 --> 01:18:06.037
I, I did originally give it a one, but I was like, okay, it's not the worst thing I've ever seen, so it can have a two.
01:18:06.158 --> 01:18:07.837
So that's what I landed on.
01:18:08.161 --> 01:18:14.461
I originally gave it a six, but I was like, I had a decent time with that movie, so I bumped it up.
01:18:15.547 --> 01:18:15.787
Yeah.
01:18:17.108 --> 01:18:18.637
Just did not work for me.
01:18:18.997 --> 01:18:19.837
So, sorry.
01:18:20.167 --> 01:18:24.068
Um, I was originally just going to hop on and be like, I hated it.
01:18:24.158 --> 01:18:24.908
Moving on.
01:18:25.028 --> 01:18:31.627
And, but, uh, anyway, uh, I think we'll leave it there.
01:18:31.957 --> 01:18:36.127
Um, thank you anybody for watching and or listening.
01:18:36.698 --> 01:18:38.557
Uh, please let us know.
01:18:39.323 --> 01:18:45.832
Uh, what horror movie you watched for Halloween and if it was any good and if we should try watching it.
01:18:46.403 --> 01:18:50.422
Uh, you can't recommend anything worse than come play if you ask me.
01:18:50.422 --> 01:18:52.672
So let us know.
01:18:54.533 --> 01:18:58.103
Uh, you guys have a great day and remember to be better today than yesterday.
