2
00:00:07.200 --> 00:00:11.000
Podcast from Rosie mcguires and Cabo Roy. This is last
3
00:00:11.039 --> 00:00:14.439
final podcast one our travels with myself, Simon Only and
4
00:00:14.640 --> 00:00:15.039
Jackie m.
5
00:00:15.519 --> 00:00:19.399
And I've got a fantastic guest start, Alan Thompson. How
6
00:00:19.440 --> 00:00:19.800
are we to.
7
00:00:20.199 --> 00:00:22.320
Afternoon, guy? It's nice to be nice to see you
8
00:00:23.719 --> 00:00:26.519
last night again, got in about three o'clock this morning. Yes,
9
00:00:26.600 --> 00:00:29.800
so early night, nice and fresh today has for you.
10
00:00:31.839 --> 00:00:34.799
So by night, not sure about early, but nice and
11
00:00:34.840 --> 00:00:35.640
fresh today A butt a.
12
00:00:35.600 --> 00:00:37.799
Bit tired, good man, make up for that later.
13
00:00:38.719 --> 00:00:41.759
So how I good? All right? I've been looking forward
14
00:00:41.759 --> 00:00:42.320
to coming away.
15
00:00:42.560 --> 00:00:46.200
You've obviously following Shelter. This season's been yes season.
16
00:00:46.079 --> 00:00:50.280
Yes, it's been touch and go. Yeah, great end of
17
00:00:50.280 --> 00:00:50.759
the season.
18
00:00:50.880 --> 00:00:52.039
Do you think we were going to do it?
19
00:00:53.280 --> 00:00:56.079
Not after done the United I didn't, but then the
20
00:00:56.119 --> 00:00:58.119
further it went on after that, when it gets the
21
00:00:58.159 --> 00:01:02.320
two three games to go, and but last injury timement mother,
22
00:01:02.359 --> 00:01:05.359
well I'm thinking, ah came over and then the pency
23
00:01:05.480 --> 00:01:09.120
penalty Inton that occurs and then you think that's a lessing, yeah,
24
00:01:09.439 --> 00:01:12.840
and then it's in your hands then in it so yeah,
25
00:01:12.920 --> 00:01:13.920
now I thoroughly enjoyed it.
26
00:01:13.920 --> 00:01:17.840
We have Gaffer at the film again twenty five or
27
00:01:18.079 --> 00:01:18.599
years later.
28
00:01:19.000 --> 00:01:19.680
Unbelievable.
29
00:01:20.280 --> 00:01:22.359
He brought you to the club. Can you talk us
30
00:01:22.400 --> 00:01:23.519
through that back then?
31
00:01:23.599 --> 00:01:26.719
Yeah? Remember he tried to sign As before he come
32
00:01:26.760 --> 00:01:29.000
to Celtic when he was less manager. I tried to
33
00:01:29.040 --> 00:01:30.680
sign As at Leicester and I didn't sign for him
34
00:01:30.680 --> 00:01:33.920
at Leicester. I went to Villa instead, So obviously I
35
00:01:33.920 --> 00:01:37.840
was obviously on his radar. I think John Robertson addressed
36
00:01:37.840 --> 00:01:39.040
his soul. I think he was a bit of a
37
00:01:39.040 --> 00:01:41.120
fan of mine row Bone. I think he pushed it
38
00:01:40.879 --> 00:01:43.439
with a gaffer when they come to Celtic because I
39
00:01:43.519 --> 00:01:45.879
was out of the picture at Villa, so it was
40
00:01:46.200 --> 00:01:47.280
just progress from there.
41
00:01:47.319 --> 00:01:50.239
He and again they had Tommy Johnson on elther On
42
00:01:50.439 --> 00:01:53.959
came to Villa as well. The enormity of the club,
43
00:01:53.959 --> 00:01:55.719
of the size of the club, did you realize before
44
00:01:55.719 --> 00:01:56.680
he came to Celtic.
45
00:01:57.079 --> 00:01:59.359
Well, I had an idea, you know, the size of
46
00:01:59.400 --> 00:02:01.159
it from the past and stuff like that. I played
47
00:02:01.159 --> 00:02:02.760
with a lot of lads who played for Celic the
48
00:02:02.840 --> 00:02:06.359
Boat and John McKinley, obviously Celtic fan. Handy Walker played
49
00:02:06.359 --> 00:02:09.599
in Solid Won't called Big Celtic fan Stevie Fulton. So
50
00:02:09.960 --> 00:02:12.960
these lads, Steve MCNs, these these these were just on
51
00:02:13.039 --> 00:02:15.080
about celic all the time, so you knew the normody
52
00:02:15.120 --> 00:02:17.000
of it. But I don't think it's until you get
53
00:02:17.039 --> 00:02:19.599
in the door you realize actually how big it is.
54
00:02:21.479 --> 00:02:24.159
Absolutely loved every minute, but yeah, not so much the
55
00:02:24.280 --> 00:02:28.280
last six months. But yeah, that was a bit of
56
00:02:28.280 --> 00:02:31.120
a fucking drag, you know, not playing and stuff like that,
57
00:02:31.759 --> 00:02:34.680
training with Kenny McDowell, the kids and stuff like that.
58
00:02:35.840 --> 00:02:37.360
Especially for me.
59
00:02:37.479 --> 00:02:40.360
I think, you know, one of Martin's best, one of
60
00:02:40.360 --> 00:02:42.719
the best signings what you achieved.
61
00:02:42.759 --> 00:02:46.560
And I think I haven't seen that here.
62
00:02:46.599 --> 00:02:49.439
I think that some of the games, the Angels games,
63
00:02:49.840 --> 00:02:52.240
you know, big games that you produced in.
64
00:02:53.919 --> 00:02:57.319
Some unbelievable some unbelievable goals in that period and all.
65
00:02:57.280 --> 00:02:59.080
I mean people say it, yeah, like oh you're a
66
00:02:59.080 --> 00:03:01.639
big game player, but I don't know what it is.
67
00:03:01.960 --> 00:03:04.759
It just seemed the big games don't bring the best
68
00:03:04.759 --> 00:03:07.000
out of your what But no disrespect to I don't know,
69
00:03:07.080 --> 00:03:10.039
Dune thee on a Tuesday night or mother Well on
70
00:03:10.080 --> 00:03:13.560
a Wednesday night. You know in January they're big games
71
00:03:13.599 --> 00:03:16.680
as well. But it's just you're still given the same
72
00:03:16.719 --> 00:03:19.599
amount of energy and you know your dedication and your
73
00:03:19.599 --> 00:03:21.719
preparation and all that. It's just I don't know you
74
00:03:21.879 --> 00:03:23.960
in the right place at the right time. In big games,
75
00:03:23.960 --> 00:03:26.360
I do not. So you know they Liverpool games.
76
00:03:26.120 --> 00:03:30.879
And Many goes the World Pool game. Yeah, many goes
77
00:03:30.919 --> 00:03:32.120
to get a change eight.
78
00:03:32.319 --> 00:03:35.439
Seven seven, Yeah, Simon texts it was eight the other week,
79
00:03:35.479 --> 00:03:39.520
but it was get mixed up with your number of it.
80
00:03:39.520 --> 00:03:40.120
It was definitely.
81
00:03:40.240 --> 00:03:43.680
We've discussed it before because animal got one on and
82
00:03:43.840 --> 00:03:44.599
you're certain one.
83
00:03:44.560 --> 00:03:45.680
Night I think it was here.
84
00:03:45.800 --> 00:03:50.400
I'd love to be able to give you one.
85
00:03:51.000 --> 00:03:52.879
But if this camera I says a many do you
86
00:03:52.879 --> 00:03:54.280
score on you? But just seven?
87
00:03:54.800 --> 00:03:58.039
It was your favorite? One favorite one probably be at
88
00:03:58.039 --> 00:04:00.639
Selic Park nil nil five minutes to go when you
89
00:04:00.800 --> 00:04:02.639
smash comes out of the box and I take a
90
00:04:02.680 --> 00:04:06.240
touch and slash it around Fernando Rickson and in off
91
00:04:06.240 --> 00:04:07.960
the ball. I don't know why I closs dive because
92
00:04:07.960 --> 00:04:11.599
he wasn't fucking saving it. But you know, it's always
93
00:04:11.680 --> 00:04:13.400
nice to score, and especially when you win.
94
00:04:13.960 --> 00:04:18.000
Yeah, so you've had like you come into that dressing
95
00:04:18.040 --> 00:04:19.759
and they touched on it all over with the big
96
00:04:19.839 --> 00:04:21.240
characters did.
97
00:04:21.040 --> 00:04:24.839
You find it easy to come into that new Stumpsy before?
98
00:04:25.000 --> 00:04:29.240
Yeah, and you Stubbsy Tommy. Tommy Johnson told me sud
99
00:04:29.480 --> 00:04:32.199
I come across a little bit as well. So not
100
00:04:32.279 --> 00:04:36.240
many bigger characters than him, bigger toss pots in him.
101
00:04:36.480 --> 00:04:40.519
No, but there's a game just before when we play Diyacs.
102
00:04:40.920 --> 00:04:42.920
Is that you know that.
103
00:04:42.920 --> 00:04:44.959
I come in just a day or two after the
104
00:04:44.959 --> 00:04:46.920
sixth two game when you beat Rangers six to two.
105
00:04:47.319 --> 00:04:49.199
So I watched the sixth two game from Villa Park.
106
00:04:50.120 --> 00:04:52.120
Villa were playing Chelsea that day and I wasn't involved,
107
00:04:52.279 --> 00:04:53.839
and you was coming to Glasgow the next day. So
108
00:04:53.839 --> 00:04:56.160
I watched the sixth two game and I come in
109
00:04:56.160 --> 00:04:59.680
the day after that, and then the IAX games. I
110
00:04:59.759 --> 00:05:03.120
was just ended because I've been sent off European game
111
00:05:03.160 --> 00:05:06.879
for Villa, so I watched the games from the stand.
112
00:05:07.160 --> 00:05:11.079
Was the Chapels quarter file, Yeah, I played, You played,
113
00:05:11.079 --> 00:05:15.439
then you think Bobby played? Then he Bobby, Bobby.
114
00:05:16.439 --> 00:05:20.279
And Lenny all right, so obviously would have probably been new.
115
00:05:20.319 --> 00:05:22.720
But then that fall weekend that was me back at
116
00:05:22.759 --> 00:05:28.240
the team. You come in the next game, yep, that
117
00:05:28.360 --> 00:05:30.600
was keeping this one for you A.
118
00:05:30.600 --> 00:05:33.079
Long time ago, man, long time ago. Now when you
119
00:05:33.079 --> 00:05:37.600
think about it, Jesus, we've talked about the gaffellow seeing him.
120
00:05:37.839 --> 00:05:39.519
He got a cup of tickets for the Cup final
121
00:05:39.879 --> 00:05:42.720
against dun Filman the other week, so arranged to go
122
00:05:42.720 --> 00:05:44.720
to the That was driving up from Manchester. So he said,
123
00:05:44.800 --> 00:05:46.600
just come to the hotel me that the team hotel
124
00:05:46.639 --> 00:05:49.959
and Dakata in Eurocentral. Get there for four o'clock. He said,
125
00:05:49.959 --> 00:05:53.600
I'll be there for four. Drive from Manchester three hours
126
00:05:53.639 --> 00:05:56.319
fifteen minutes on a Friday, and they got there five
127
00:05:56.360 --> 00:05:59.639
to four. Got me missus in rose Wells and all
128
00:05:59.680 --> 00:06:02.800
that on me as well, get a drink before and
129
00:06:02.800 --> 00:06:05.160
I was driving, so get a glass away. Now sitting
130
00:06:05.240 --> 00:06:11.959
waiting or four five o'clock hard five, I'm arranging Allan,
131
00:06:12.040 --> 00:06:14.800
the Specs guy for the for the Shades. We ranged
132
00:06:14.800 --> 00:06:16.800
to meet him at my hotel. Rather we traded about
133
00:06:16.839 --> 00:06:19.319
or five Specs appeal here, so we ranged to meet
134
00:06:19.399 --> 00:06:22.439
him hard five. Martin turns over at the quart of
135
00:06:22.439 --> 00:06:26.720
at seven o'clock. Honestly three hours, three hours late. But
136
00:06:26.759 --> 00:06:29.040
I couldn't leave because he had his two tickets for
137
00:06:29.120 --> 00:06:32.759
the game. So that was in a not on effect
138
00:06:33.199 --> 00:06:35.639
for me. Seeing Alan about the sunglasses and then I
139
00:06:35.720 --> 00:06:37.600
had a restaurant book had to put the restaurant back
140
00:06:37.600 --> 00:06:41.120
on nine o'clock, so he stood us up. But that
141
00:06:41.240 --> 00:06:42.959
was good, he was good. Had a bit chat with them,
142
00:06:43.040 --> 00:06:43.920
only for ten minutes.
143
00:06:43.920 --> 00:06:45.800
But I think that's the thing that obviously I haven't
144
00:06:45.800 --> 00:06:47.720
looked on the music guys then, but I think that's it.
145
00:06:47.800 --> 00:06:50.839
He always looks at for his his Oh.
146
00:06:51.439 --> 00:06:53.920
I think if you've played for him and you've done
147
00:06:53.959 --> 00:06:56.839
well for him, Yeah, he'll always make time, whether it's
148
00:06:56.839 --> 00:07:00.560
a phone call or if you're in the area, try
149
00:07:00.600 --> 00:07:01.839
and catch up for a couple of te or a
150
00:07:01.879 --> 00:07:04.199
coffee in that you know that team as well.
151
00:07:04.759 --> 00:07:06.680
So you bet, you bet it's all two thousand and
152
00:07:06.720 --> 00:07:09.519
three narrowly missed it and that did you score the
153
00:07:09.600 --> 00:07:11.480
following year against Munich.
154
00:07:11.879 --> 00:07:15.040
Munich was at the fat a couple of times as
155
00:07:15.040 --> 00:07:15.839
we really closer.
156
00:07:16.199 --> 00:07:19.959
Yeah, it's obviously when the European Cup the following year,
157
00:07:20.000 --> 00:07:23.319
a lot have beaten the scored by on and those
158
00:07:23.360 --> 00:07:28.199
two late goals may my guy. Yeah, you always like
159
00:07:28.480 --> 00:07:30.519
I feel that team could have if they just got
160
00:07:30.560 --> 00:07:32.800
that a lot. I think we've got ourselves in some
161
00:07:32.879 --> 00:07:35.079
good position. We just I don't know if it was
162
00:07:35.120 --> 00:07:37.800
a mental thing. But we we played against good teams
163
00:07:37.800 --> 00:07:39.879
and got ourselves in good positions in the game. And
164
00:07:40.000 --> 00:07:43.920
then whether it was whether it was erarors or just
165
00:07:44.040 --> 00:07:48.279
a mentality thing or its headman throw on and off.
166
00:07:49.800 --> 00:07:52.439
Now, but we did. We got close but not close enough.
167
00:07:53.160 --> 00:07:55.319
And then you went into management of the learning and stuff.
168
00:07:55.879 --> 00:07:56.680
How did you find that?
169
00:07:57.160 --> 00:07:59.279
I loved it? Loved it. Yeah, well I've kind of
170
00:07:59.319 --> 00:08:02.160
done me a print ship, management, coaching, whatever you want
171
00:08:02.199 --> 00:08:05.040
to call it, Newcastle and stuff. And Lenny was doing
172
00:08:05.120 --> 00:08:07.199
the same job at Celtic as it was when Tony
173
00:08:07.240 --> 00:08:10.040
Morebray was a manager. So me and Lennie arrange friendlies
174
00:08:10.040 --> 00:08:13.040
against each other on the twenty ones. And so I
175
00:08:13.199 --> 00:08:16.360
was at Newcastle. They're doing the twenty ones. Yeah, yeah,
176
00:08:16.720 --> 00:08:18.759
And Lenny was doing the twenty ones. It selic and
177
00:08:18.839 --> 00:08:21.560
then he just ran and said, look, I've got to
178
00:08:21.600 --> 00:08:23.240
care take a job. If I get it full time,
179
00:08:23.519 --> 00:08:26.319
fancy coming up. He's being at Newcastle two or three
180
00:08:26.399 --> 00:08:28.439
years and I loved it. And that was how that
181
00:08:28.560 --> 00:08:28.920
come about.
182
00:08:28.959 --> 00:08:31.079
When he got the job was ACI because we have
183
00:08:31.199 --> 00:08:33.240
any management will be back. So when you're a player,
184
00:08:33.279 --> 00:08:35.320
I think that's quite selfish. You look after yourself. I'll
185
00:08:35.360 --> 00:08:37.200
be back even though it's a team game. Yeah, you
186
00:08:37.320 --> 00:08:40.320
get twenty plush boys. Yeah, you're responsible and.
187
00:08:40.360 --> 00:08:42.960
Completely different the fact that's Celtic. Yeah, did you think
188
00:08:43.840 --> 00:08:45.600
more than playing without a doubt?
189
00:08:45.639 --> 00:08:50.240
Yeah? Yeah, you don't switch off. You're like you say,
190
00:08:50.279 --> 00:08:52.960
as a player, you look after yourself. You go and
191
00:08:53.039 --> 00:08:55.080
you get yourself, you get sessions done, you do your
192
00:08:55.120 --> 00:08:57.480
personal stuff, whatever you need to do, and you're a whale. Yeah,
193
00:08:57.679 --> 00:08:59.679
not as a not as a coach or a manager
194
00:09:00.080 --> 00:09:03.200
that you want to call them. You just can't switch off.
195
00:09:03.440 --> 00:09:05.960
And then not only that, like you say, you're at
196
00:09:05.960 --> 00:09:09.679
Celtic where you expected the winning and you're espected the
197
00:09:09.759 --> 00:09:12.399
win playing a certain way as well, you know. So,
198
00:09:13.120 --> 00:09:14.919
But we had some we had some good kids at
199
00:09:14.960 --> 00:09:15.279
that time.
200
00:09:16.080 --> 00:09:18.919
Who was the bast that he kind of lot of coaching.
201
00:09:18.600 --> 00:09:22.000
That we had at the time. Chris Commons was he
202
00:09:22.159 --> 00:09:24.039
was you know, we played down the road in England.
203
00:09:24.480 --> 00:09:26.279
Chris was a good one to have around. Gary hoop
204
00:09:26.320 --> 00:09:28.759
I was on fire at the time. Joe Ledley was
205
00:09:28.759 --> 00:09:32.360
a good sort big phrase of four ster. Obviously, Brownie
206
00:09:32.399 --> 00:09:35.720
was a standout in terms of captain against characters.
207
00:09:37.799 --> 00:09:40.960
Some Foundation games were a few of their boys that
208
00:09:41.000 --> 00:09:41.799
you can still tell.
209
00:09:42.639 --> 00:09:46.000
When I was in now we had some strong big Georgie.
210
00:09:46.039 --> 00:09:48.440
Sam Rass was a he was a good you know that.
211
00:09:49.840 --> 00:09:52.320
Then you had some good young Calum McGregor coming through.
212
00:09:52.360 --> 00:09:55.840
He was just starting a train, you know, career he's
213
00:09:55.879 --> 00:09:58.360
gone on to have since then. You could always see
214
00:09:58.360 --> 00:10:04.279
he was quality. Good play about unbelievable. That unbelievable.
215
00:10:04.720 --> 00:10:05.240
It's amazing.
216
00:10:05.279 --> 00:10:10.360
Actually mcgree girl for us the medals that the one, yeah,
217
00:10:10.440 --> 00:10:11.559
if you put them together.
218
00:10:13.679 --> 00:10:14.519
Before that as well.
219
00:10:15.759 --> 00:10:18.639
So what you're doing nowadays, keep inside and just keeping
220
00:10:18.679 --> 00:10:20.639
out of trouble, keeping out of trouble.
221
00:10:21.399 --> 00:10:24.440
Your T shirt. I'm having your T shirt when you're
222
00:10:24.480 --> 00:10:25.679
lucky enough to go into the gigs.
223
00:10:25.720 --> 00:10:29.120
I wasn't, but I've heard a little rumor that all
224
00:10:29.200 --> 00:10:31.480
might be playing at Celtic Pork for four or five
225
00:10:31.600 --> 00:10:35.240
gigs next game. So I've put feel little feelers.
226
00:10:35.399 --> 00:10:37.039
You know, i want the Celtic TV. I'm going to
227
00:10:37.080 --> 00:10:38.919
give us away. I've said I'm going to hide in
228
00:10:39.000 --> 00:10:41.919
an office if I've got the five ye, I'm going
229
00:10:41.960 --> 00:10:44.399
to hide in an office just appear full of gigs.
230
00:10:44.759 --> 00:10:46.759
Did I tell you this story about we went to
231
00:10:46.799 --> 00:10:49.639
see oases Barrelands. Yes, Ago, I think we played more
232
00:10:49.759 --> 00:10:50.200
well away.
233
00:10:50.399 --> 00:10:52.000
By the way, I missed that one, so I just
234
00:10:52.440 --> 00:10:54.200
left a year on the bat. That's the one that's
235
00:10:54.279 --> 00:10:57.600
on YouTube. Martin News there that night learning I'm.
236
00:10:57.519 --> 00:11:00.320
Not sure if Marton was there. Now those those would
237
00:11:00.360 --> 00:11:02.039
play the game. So it was after the game, so
238
00:11:02.120 --> 00:11:04.200
we hadn't really had anything to eat. So back the
239
00:11:04.240 --> 00:11:08.200
Celtic pot O jeans on. So there's Jackie, myself, Lenny,
240
00:11:09.200 --> 00:11:12.559
Roddy McDonald and doctor. There was another one, but I
241
00:11:12.600 --> 00:11:13.960
can't think all the other one would have been. It
242
00:11:14.000 --> 00:11:15.960
wouldn't have been Stay because that's not he's cut with
243
00:11:16.039 --> 00:11:18.919
tea in. Anyways, we're having a pint before and barrel
244
00:11:19.000 --> 00:11:21.559
Lance and Lenny gets his snooks out, you know, his
245
00:11:21.639 --> 00:11:23.799
little snooze that he hasn't Lenny does his snooze and
246
00:11:23.879 --> 00:11:26.120
he gets there a bit of that and Jackie not
247
00:11:26.159 --> 00:11:28.120
a smoke or anything like that. Jack he went a
248
00:11:28.200 --> 00:11:29.759
couple of paints. Lenny, give us a bit of that.
249
00:11:30.559 --> 00:11:33.559
Next thing, Jackie's had that. Two minutes later, Jackie has
250
00:11:33.759 --> 00:11:37.159
found like this absolutely smart. Would the naked teens just
251
00:11:37.240 --> 00:11:39.159
wipe them out? So the docs give them Jackie a
252
00:11:39.200 --> 00:11:42.159
better you get them in the right position and all that,
253
00:11:42.720 --> 00:11:48.080
and next thing the security comes through from the boys,
254
00:11:48.120 --> 00:11:50.960
Oasis boys, and then it was one of the main men. Anyway,
255
00:11:51.159 --> 00:11:55.039
I understand. The Celtic doctors were here and Roddy's like, yeah, yeah,
256
00:11:55.480 --> 00:11:57.480
went oh Liam's not feeling so well and doesn't think
257
00:11:57.519 --> 00:11:58.799
you can go on stage. Can you come through and
258
00:11:58.840 --> 00:12:00.960
see him. Roddy would, well, I'll come and see him,
259
00:12:00.960 --> 00:12:02.600
but I can't do anything. I've had four pints I
260
00:12:02.639 --> 00:12:04.960
get stroked off of So the guy went all right,
261
00:12:05.039 --> 00:12:06.639
go back and comes back through again. He went no,
262
00:12:06.840 --> 00:12:08.639
Liam said you need to come and see him, and
263
00:12:08.799 --> 00:12:11.279
Ronnie was adamant. He wasn't going in to see Liam
264
00:12:11.320 --> 00:12:14.360
Gallagher because he had four or five pints. And I
265
00:12:14.440 --> 00:12:16.519
think he come on stage for the first half hour, Lame,
266
00:12:16.600 --> 00:12:20.799
but he didn't finish the gig because he so the
267
00:12:20.879 --> 00:12:23.480
dot fucked off Lame Gallagher and Jack he was unconscious.
268
00:12:24.360 --> 00:12:26.559
It was a good night, but that was in Barreland.
269
00:12:27.919 --> 00:12:29.440
He never got to see him. So that'll be it
270
00:12:30.120 --> 00:12:33.080
next year if it's fine, hope that goes through.
271
00:12:33.799 --> 00:12:38.639
Amazingly, brilliant, amazing I just signed the Celtic and tour
272
00:12:38.679 --> 00:12:42.799
and it was you two it was and managed to
273
00:12:42.840 --> 00:12:45.000
sneak and on the ground starf So I try to
274
00:12:45.039 --> 00:12:45.600
do that again.
275
00:12:46.000 --> 00:12:49.080
Well they've got a connection and was Celtic and Irish
276
00:12:49.120 --> 00:12:52.159
and yeah, and then the song they play the song
277
00:12:52.200 --> 00:12:54.399
before the game cel what was it?
278
00:12:54.519 --> 00:12:54.919
Rolled with it.
279
00:12:56.919 --> 00:13:02.200
The class remember that he's just one because because I
280
00:13:02.279 --> 00:13:05.440
didn't I've never smoked. And then when they gave me
281
00:13:05.480 --> 00:13:07.360
it finished my night.
282
00:13:07.679 --> 00:13:09.919
It was it was another there was another oasis that
283
00:13:10.080 --> 00:13:13.919
Martin was there, I'm sure just throwing about the starting night.
284
00:13:14.000 --> 00:13:15.679
Robble was there as well, and do you know tell
285
00:13:15.720 --> 00:13:18.200
the story that he met Johnny mar Johnny Marbles the
286
00:13:18.320 --> 00:13:19.159
guitarist when New.
287
00:13:19.200 --> 00:13:22.879
Order, right, maybe they went to the gig somewhere what
288
00:13:23.039 --> 00:13:27.639
they do on and Martin I was bidding because no
289
00:13:27.799 --> 00:13:30.960
Gallaher had signed a Celtic strip and we were a
290
00:13:31.039 --> 00:13:33.840
function and I was bidden for it. When the boys
291
00:13:33.879 --> 00:13:37.039
were at the table and Martin started against me.
292
00:13:37.200 --> 00:13:41.919
I think I was like yeah, and I was up
293
00:13:41.960 --> 00:13:42.919
against the game. I had to just.
294
00:13:45.159 --> 00:13:46.120
No same, let them have it.
295
00:13:46.480 --> 00:13:49.440
But he bore it and he said, if you win
296
00:13:49.480 --> 00:13:52.080
the league, son, I'll give you like the next day
297
00:13:52.120 --> 00:13:54.559
he said to me. But when we did win the league.
298
00:13:54.600 --> 00:13:55.720
But I never go to the top.
299
00:13:58.360 --> 00:14:02.720
On that note, which John Hatson's.
300
00:14:04.039 --> 00:14:06.279
There, Oh yeah, yeah, so he's put your old gaffer,
301
00:14:07.240 --> 00:14:10.720
he's patrol gaffer on the squad said well you come
302
00:14:10.799 --> 00:14:12.799
on the podcast and he says, if we win the league.
303
00:14:12.879 --> 00:14:15.799
I did win the league. Will being some promising. You
304
00:14:15.879 --> 00:14:16.799
need to hold them promising.
305
00:14:17.240 --> 00:14:19.360
Absolutely need to get him on. I was going to
306
00:14:19.399 --> 00:14:21.399
come down to Johnson, but I'd been up about ten
307
00:14:21.519 --> 00:14:25.039
days before I played up was sadly singing Frank mcavenny
308
00:14:26.080 --> 00:14:29.759
and it's five hours from me getting there. Easy to
309
00:14:29.799 --> 00:14:32.000
get to talk to paying in the backside and get
310
00:14:32.039 --> 00:14:35.600
them from once you get the call Oisle. Yeah, it's
311
00:14:35.639 --> 00:14:39.320
not bad for you. It down from Glasgow. It's not bad.
312
00:14:40.080 --> 00:14:45.960
Some player so special. We played the ailside. It's beautiful.
313
00:14:46.919 --> 00:14:47.879
It's a beautiful course.
314
00:14:48.639 --> 00:14:50.039
Who was speaking after the dinner.
315
00:14:50.360 --> 00:14:55.679
It was Scott Brown, podcaster and it was really good.
316
00:14:56.000 --> 00:14:58.039
Potentially assistant, potential assistant.
317
00:14:59.120 --> 00:15:00.840
We had him on the podcast. He put them on
318
00:15:00.879 --> 00:15:04.519
the spot. It was a little bit coy and he
319
00:15:04.639 --> 00:15:05.840
was put on the Sport that night as well.
320
00:15:05.879 --> 00:15:10.600
When the story before with Martin, they seen Martin lose
321
00:15:10.639 --> 00:15:12.600
it and then one of the times.
322
00:15:13.159 --> 00:15:16.559
Was when Tom got sent over for five Brooks one
323
00:15:16.600 --> 00:15:19.519
of the fucking type Wells sent off.
324
00:15:21.000 --> 00:15:27.919
I got three on fair, they said, Jim the backstadium,
325
00:15:27.919 --> 00:15:28.639
you've just seen Red.
326
00:15:29.240 --> 00:15:31.759
No, the one the loving transfer was embarrassing.
327
00:15:32.080 --> 00:15:36.000
Yeah, that was never Red. He just took the head
328
00:15:36.000 --> 00:15:39.360
on him. He tried to apologize those yes later as
329
00:15:39.399 --> 00:15:44.399
well to it then too yellous. Yeah, that was a
330
00:15:44.440 --> 00:15:45.360
straight game.
331
00:15:45.399 --> 00:15:49.120
It was Martin's second game and it was five one,
332
00:15:49.159 --> 00:15:50.919
and he came in after the game and went for him.
333
00:15:51.240 --> 00:15:53.000
It was my it was. It was the whole firm
334
00:15:53.080 --> 00:15:54.879
game after the six two, so it was the one
335
00:15:55.000 --> 00:15:57.879
we took one after that, Eyebrooks, he just and it
336
00:15:58.039 --> 00:16:02.399
was one one little I've whipped the corner and Henrick
337
00:16:02.440 --> 00:16:04.360
gets it back to one one with the header cell
338
00:16:04.440 --> 00:16:07.840
again and then they go and score straight after Hendrix
339
00:16:07.919 --> 00:16:10.600
goes to one. You has gone a little bit and
340
00:16:10.639 --> 00:16:13.559
I just misstime the tackle second yellow one and so
341
00:16:13.600 --> 00:16:15.120
it goes off and then I'm in the dressing room
342
00:16:15.159 --> 00:16:19.440
and Eyebrocks and all I hear is three one four
343
00:16:19.519 --> 00:16:23.759
one after the game and he went for as the
344
00:16:23.799 --> 00:16:27.879
guy for like which you know was one. You're still
345
00:16:27.879 --> 00:16:31.440
in the game. They just went for a coward and
346
00:16:31.519 --> 00:16:34.519
all that. I didn't want to be out there, and
347
00:16:34.600 --> 00:16:37.519
he's like, there's me. I'm saying, I'm not a coward.
348
00:16:37.559 --> 00:16:41.720
I'm not. I didn't bottle it and all that. Shut
349
00:16:41.799 --> 00:16:42.759
up to just shut up.
350
00:16:43.399 --> 00:16:45.240
You said you watched the sex to a game before?
351
00:16:45.840 --> 00:16:46.519
Was that your first?
352
00:16:47.240 --> 00:16:52.200
That was my first? One five one? Yeah, but when
353
00:16:52.279 --> 00:16:57.279
Martin was saying, you fucking ship but yeah, fucking you
354
00:16:57.440 --> 00:17:00.960
just get luded. And I was renting house and Newton Men's.
355
00:17:01.840 --> 00:17:03.480
I got back to the house that night. We've got
356
00:17:03.559 --> 00:17:05.759
a Chinese takeaway and I said to me, ex missus,
357
00:17:06.720 --> 00:17:10.039
that's all I'm referring to. It was, I said, because
358
00:17:10.079 --> 00:17:11.839
we're going to buy said I don't think we should
359
00:17:11.839 --> 00:17:14.440
buy a house. Because when rented place up down in
360
00:17:14.480 --> 00:17:17.480
Newton Men's next to Tommy and Stubbsy and boating veicos
361
00:17:17.519 --> 00:17:19.279
and all that around there, you and me, I'll be
362
00:17:19.359 --> 00:17:21.960
Johnny Gold big scorer. When I said I don't think
363
00:17:22.000 --> 00:17:24.079
we should buy a house, she said what I went,
364
00:17:24.359 --> 00:17:26.799
I might. I think I'll be going after that today,
365
00:17:27.359 --> 00:17:28.880
I said, what happened on the pitch, and then what
366
00:17:28.960 --> 00:17:31.240
happened in the dress room, said I could be done.
367
00:17:32.880 --> 00:17:35.039
Don't behold the next one back to tell the one
368
00:17:35.079 --> 00:17:37.359
one nil and I scored so kind of redeemed myself
369
00:17:37.400 --> 00:17:38.039
after that.
370
00:17:38.400 --> 00:17:41.119
So he's had to go into the game Monday morning,
371
00:17:41.200 --> 00:17:43.279
command to day andress again.
372
00:17:43.359 --> 00:17:45.359
Me is kind of think he addressed it through the week,
373
00:17:45.640 --> 00:17:47.200
He led it. He let it go for a few
374
00:17:47.279 --> 00:17:50.160
days until he pulled us in and told us I'd
375
00:17:50.160 --> 00:17:52.200
been getting done two weeks wages and stuff like that
376
00:17:52.400 --> 00:17:56.599
and get some bobs. So yeah, definitely let it fester
377
00:17:57.440 --> 00:18:02.039
the seven goals after that to do something after getting
378
00:18:02.039 --> 00:18:02.799
three redcords.
379
00:18:04.319 --> 00:18:05.160
He was just talking about.
380
00:18:06.519 --> 00:18:09.160
And obviously there was a well documented story with you.
381
00:18:09.400 --> 00:18:12.279
Was it you and Fernando wreckson your neighbor he.
382
00:18:12.319 --> 00:18:14.519
Lived, He lived on the street. Ronald the Burr was
383
00:18:14.559 --> 00:18:17.200
my neighbor. Fernando lived further around you.
384
00:18:17.319 --> 00:18:17.960
What was that again?
385
00:18:19.880 --> 00:18:24.079
Twice? It was twice. There was one at Celtic Park
386
00:18:24.680 --> 00:18:27.559
when remember towards the end of the game. So he
387
00:18:27.559 --> 00:18:33.240
scores a chip, Yes, chips cloth great brilliant and he'd
388
00:18:33.279 --> 00:18:35.160
already been to me dof and and at the end
389
00:18:35.200 --> 00:18:38.119
of the season before when we lost against Kill, when
390
00:18:38.160 --> 00:18:42.799
we beat Kill, Marnic and dun Ferman got beat. Didn't
391
00:18:42.799 --> 00:18:47.559
play with was it? Yeah? It was so he'd already
392
00:18:47.599 --> 00:18:49.759
been to me door that night, fire works through the
393
00:18:49.839 --> 00:18:54.960
letter box and that, and so I ran Ronald the burn,
394
00:18:55.000 --> 00:18:56.759
I said, Ronald, you better get your mate away from
395
00:18:56.799 --> 00:18:59.720
the door. You know they won the league. Who's obviously
396
00:18:59.759 --> 00:19:01.400
being out in Glasgow whre the lads having a few
397
00:19:01.480 --> 00:19:03.839
pints come chatting on the door three o'clock in the
398
00:19:03.880 --> 00:19:07.640
morning and not on anyways. So when Sock he scored
399
00:19:07.640 --> 00:19:10.640
the chip the following season, we celebrate down there when
400
00:19:10.759 --> 00:19:13.079
where the subs are warming up to celebrate running back
401
00:19:13.079 --> 00:19:14.440
to the half wheel, and I've give him a little
402
00:19:14.480 --> 00:19:16.720
clap on a chip, give him one of them. I said,
403
00:19:16.759 --> 00:19:19.279
don't be knocking on my door again like that. So
404
00:19:19.480 --> 00:19:21.640
that night he comes banging on the door with a
405
00:19:21.720 --> 00:19:23.839
big bull master thing that he had, trying to get
406
00:19:23.920 --> 00:19:25.559
us to come down and have a bit roll about
407
00:19:25.599 --> 00:19:28.960
with them, but he was he was an absolute fruit loop.
408
00:19:29.880 --> 00:19:32.400
And then you had the other lads who like the
409
00:19:32.559 --> 00:19:37.160
bur quiet Michael Males, quiet tour and rear floor. We
410
00:19:37.279 --> 00:19:39.200
all lived in the same area. And then you had
411
00:19:39.279 --> 00:19:44.720
that lunatic short of lads here another quiet lady could
412
00:19:44.759 --> 00:19:47.680
played him by the but yeah, then Fernando god dressed
413
00:19:47.720 --> 00:19:50.519
and so he was just an absolute mood. So I
414
00:19:50.640 --> 00:19:57.000
had some confrontations on and off the pitch. Good BAERs
415
00:19:57.039 --> 00:20:00.559
Man music, your music music, No, not as much as you.
416
00:20:01.200 --> 00:20:03.400
I like a bit of bumping into the old mate
417
00:20:03.400 --> 00:20:04.920
Ian Brown now and again down.
418
00:20:04.759 --> 00:20:06.359
In Limb's talk about that.
419
00:20:06.480 --> 00:20:08.799
I'm desperate together. I'm desperate to get a little video
420
00:20:08.920 --> 00:20:10.200
for you. I will get your video.
421
00:20:10.640 --> 00:20:13.839
I want more than a video. You promised me. Meet
422
00:20:13.880 --> 00:20:14.160
the guy.
423
00:20:14.440 --> 00:20:17.519
Oh, come to Limb. Honestly coming around all the time.
424
00:20:17.640 --> 00:20:19.799
Text your topic me, text you, text me to invite
425
00:20:19.839 --> 00:20:22.960
me to what's the charity don it's coming up and
426
00:20:23.039 --> 00:20:24.000
come at your table.
427
00:20:24.680 --> 00:20:29.279
That's up in Glasgow and it yeah mate for Mark McCosh.
428
00:20:30.200 --> 00:20:34.599
That's spend Septemble team August August.
429
00:20:34.799 --> 00:20:38.000
I think I have to check. Yeah.
430
00:20:38.200 --> 00:20:39.720
So we've got here last year and you were talking
431
00:20:39.720 --> 00:20:41.480
about it and you just quite calmly.
432
00:20:41.640 --> 00:20:44.359
I'll always slapped your seven goals and against Rangels you
433
00:20:44.440 --> 00:20:49.359
slapped and Ian Brown your neighbors right Stoore Roses there
434
00:20:49.400 --> 00:20:51.160
for me the best oasis of.
435
00:20:51.440 --> 00:20:52.359
Top ten behind them?
436
00:20:53.200 --> 00:20:53.519
Did you.
437
00:20:55.000 --> 00:20:57.880
He's Gottes don't happen. Stone Roses don't happen.
438
00:20:58.039 --> 00:21:02.079
And my so, Ian, Yeah, lives in the village. See
439
00:21:02.160 --> 00:21:04.079
him in the village all the time, walking around, have
440
00:21:04.160 --> 00:21:07.000
a bit chat with him. Absolute legend. But honestly, because
441
00:21:07.039 --> 00:21:08.599
I didn't know who he was. I knew who the
442
00:21:08.640 --> 00:21:10.839
Stone Roses were. But then when I moved the limb
443
00:21:10.880 --> 00:21:14.119
the village, I living down in Chesha, and he gets
444
00:21:14.200 --> 00:21:17.759
pointed out that's he and Brown. Who's Ian Brown Stone Roses.
445
00:21:17.799 --> 00:21:19.599
Oh yeah, the Stone that's the lead singer, is it.
446
00:21:20.000 --> 00:21:22.839
So eventually got chatting him. So he's in the coffee
447
00:21:22.880 --> 00:21:26.279
shops and all that. He just keeps hisself to hisself,
448
00:21:26.960 --> 00:21:29.319
hair halfway down his back. I've seen him the other
449
00:21:29.440 --> 00:21:32.839
day in and all clapped up Volvo outside the post office.
450
00:21:33.519 --> 00:21:40.319
All right, Ian, alright, me ledge and he just he
451
00:21:40.400 --> 00:21:42.319
speaks to everyone, you know, he just poppers around and
452
00:21:42.359 --> 00:21:45.279
he's added a skiar and so unas human.
453
00:21:45.559 --> 00:21:46.680
Just get to that dinner.
454
00:21:47.759 --> 00:21:48.720
I'd love to get into that.
455
00:21:48.759 --> 00:21:53.359
At least I'd be satisfied with due. I'll get your video,
456
00:21:54.160 --> 00:21:57.480
get your videos. Wait you get back to
