The Louisville Metro Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting at the Tim Faulkner Gallery on Portland Avenue in Louisville.
Police said the shooting occurred before 1:20 a.m. during a concert attended by several hundred people.
Savannah Walker, 20, was fatally shot, and five other people were wounded, according to police.
Her father, Dean Walker, said her death comes just one month after the family suffered another tragedy.
“My wife had passed away 30 days ago, and I still talk to her, and now I’m going to miss my daughter too,” Walker said.
Walker said Savannah was a junior at the University of Louisville (UofL). She was a member of the university’s debate team, captained her lacrosse team, and was a Porter Scholar.
“Everyone needs to step up and say, ‘We’ve had enough of this.’ You know, when kids can’t go out and enjoy a concert and be safe, we’ve got a problem,” Walker said.
The five people injured in the shooting were taken to University Hospital and are expected to survive, police said.
Police estimated that several hundred people were attending the concert at the time of the shooting.
