Serial Killer Todd Kohlhepp Full Length Police Interrogation
Todd Kohlhepp's full-length police interrogation provides chilling insight into the mind of a serial killer. Kohlhepp, a South Carolina real estate agent, was arrested in 2016 after police discovered a missing woman, Kala Brown, chained in a shipping container on his property. This discovery led to a confession linking Kohlhepp to multiple murders and a string of violent crimes. Here’s an overview of his interrogation and key details from the case:Key Details from Todd Kohlhepp’s Interrogation1. Discovery and Arrest
- Police arrested Kohlhepp after Kala Brown, missing since August 2016, was rescued from a locked shipping container on his rural property in Woodruff, South Carolina.
- Brown informed investigators that Kohlhepp had murdered her boyfriend, Charlie Carver, and held her captive.
- During the interrogation, Kohlhepp displayed a disturbing lack of remorse, calmly discussing his crimes as if they were ordinary events.
- His casual attitude about the murders shocked investigators, particularly given the brutal details he revealed.
- Kohlhepp confessed to the 2003 Superbike Motorsports quadruple homicide, a cold case that had baffled authorities for over a decade.
- He explained that he had been humiliated by the shop’s employees when trying to return a motorcycle, prompting him to return with a gun and kill four people.
- Victims: Scott Ponder, Brian Lucas, Chris Sherbert, and Beverly Guy.
- In addition to the Superbike killings, Kohlhepp admitted to murdering Meagan and Johnny Coxie, a couple he hired for odd jobs. He claimed they “disrespected” him and killed them on his property.
- Both were shot, and their bodies were buried on his land.
- Kohlhepp provided graphic details about his crimes, including how he lured victims to his property, killed them, and disposed of their bodies.
- He spoke matter-of-factly about his methods, often blaming the victims for their deaths, claiming they “pushed him too far.”
- Kohlhepp showed no empathy for his victims or their families during the interrogation.
- He expressed concern only for how the media would portray him, saying he didn’t want to be compared to other serial killers.
- Investigators noted parallels between Kohlhepp’s adult crimes and his violent past. As a teenager, he was convicted of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Arizona, for which he served 15 years in prison.
- Despite his criminal record, Kohlhepp managed to build a successful real estate business, hiding his dark side from those around him.
- Kohlhepp was charged with seven counts of murder, along with kidnapping and weapons charges.
- In 2017, he pleaded guilty to all charges to avoid the death penalty and was sentenced to seven consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole.
- The case garnered national attention, with the shipping container discovery and Kohlhepp’s confessions horrifying the public.
- His ability to lead a double life as a respected businessman while committing heinous crimes raised questions about how he avoided suspicion for so long.
