معلومات عن هذه الحلقة
In this engaging episode of "In Strides," we get up close and personal with Richard E. Boyatzis, a renowned professor at Case Western Reserve University. This isn't your typical academic talk – we dive into the relatable, real-world stuff like why we dig our heels in when faced with change, how we often find ourselves in a rut and crave something new every seven years, and why sometimes, in the midst of it all, we act out.
Boyatzis, with his blend of expertise in psychology, organizational behavior, and cognitive science, isn't just a brainy professor. He gets why we do what we do. We explore his journey from a guy fascinated with aeronautics and astronautics at MIT to a social psychology whiz at Harvard. It's a story about following your own path, not just the one laid out for you.
This episode isn't just about theories and research papers. Boyatzis breaks down why we resist change – it's about fear, comfort zones, and the unknown. He also taps into something we all feel deep down: the need to be loved, to feel excited, curious, and truly engaged with life. It's a refreshing take that goes beyond the typical academic jargon.
We also talk about his impact through Coursera, where he's reached over 1.5 million people worldwide. Boyatzis isn't just teaching; he's inspiring people to think differently about their lives and careers.
His books? They're not your average textbooks. "Primal Leadership," for instance, is a best-seller that delves into emotional intelligence in leadership – something we all can learn from, whether we're leading a team or just trying to understand ourselves better.
This podcast episode is a lively, thought-provoking journey through Boyatzis' world. It's about understanding that it's okay to want more from life, to feel and be loved, and to chase your dreams – as long as they're yours and not someone else's nightmare. It's a reminder that growth and change, though scary, are part of what makes life all worth it.
