MORBIUS MOVIE REVIEW
Sony’s grip on Marvel characters extends largely to Spider-Man adjacent villains and anti-heroes and they continue down this ‘MCU is not directly involved’ film path with Morbius. Jared Leto plays Michael Morbius, a brilliant scientist who is dying from a rare blood disease who is determined to crack it, to help both him and his childhood friend suffering from the same problem, Milo (Matt Smith). Through gene combination he comes up with a serum based on vampire bats but that essentially turns him into a super-vampire, with crap-loads of mega-powers, but also a tendency to turn into a raging and indiscriminate blood sucker when he’s not fed blood often enough. It’s bad enough he’s got to race against time and his own needs to come up with some sort of cure for his cure, but now there’s another one like him in the city with considerably less taboos about killing at will. AND he’s got an investigator tracking him (Tyrese Gibson) although, only sort of. It felt like maybe there was more of that in an earlier cut that we saw a lot of the scenes of in the trailers. In fact, there’s a LOT missing from this movie including fun. Listen to Chris, Mars, Sarah, and Mike take a bite out of it.

Christopher Lawrence Cox (Founder, Da Boss)
Born in the wilds of northern Virginia, Chris managed to put all of his survival skills to use and barely escaped with his life to Austin Texas in 1992 where ever since he’s dabbled in everything from plumber’s assistant to sandwich maker, from band to bar management. An opportunity to see theatrical release films for free by becoming a critic on a local public access show called “The Reel Deal” turned into a full-time job when Chris and his friends decided to take it to the internet. They built the site Spill.com, adding multiple podcasts and animated features, to no small amount of success. During this time, a fortuitous friendship sprung up between Chris and young Brian Salisbury, who was also a local film critic, and they merged their forces of will, and their laundry list of ideas for shows, to eventually build this community of critics. While Brian eventually followed his heart to a new family, Chris continues on with a cast of colorful folks from all over the country (and a few others). You can also check out Chris in his videocast, along with Martin Thomas and Danni Danger, that One Of Us does with our friends at Bell of Lost Souls: Crossover Event. He also regularly guests on the video game website Rage Select. Follow Chris on Twitter and Facebook and check out his Amazon Wish List.
Mars Garrett (Highly Suspect Reviews, Screener Squad)
Mars enjoys bad movies, motorsportsball, and the internet. She’s been the resident pop-culture and toy/collectibles editor at BoLS for the better part of a decade. An ardent action and horror fan, she takes pride in the number of movies she’s seen with a 10% or lower RT rating. Just don’t ask her to watch a rom-com.

THE LOVE HYPOTHESIS MOVIE REVIEW Throughout the years, several students of the pen have been inspired to share their deepest longings with an audience who also longed for a carefree sexy time romance. Some of those ideas may have gained inspiration from works that have already been published. Thus …
THE SOCIAL RECKONING MOVIE REVIEW It’s been 16 years since David Fincher’s masterpiece, The Social Network, hit the silver screen. It felt timely and acted as a cautionary tale of how one’s ego could effect millions of people. Now, Aaron Sorkin, the original screenwriter, wanted to go back into the…
FINAL FANTASTIC FIVESOME FORUM I know we have been pretty exhaustive this year (and most years) with our coverage of our favorite movie festival Fantastic Fest. Promise, this is the last thing we’re putting up for it this year. But it’s a big one. We get five of our attending critics, Chris, Wright…
LANTERNS SERIES REVIEW For a show about space cops armed with powerful cosmic jewelry, this new DCU show spends a lot of time in rural Nebraska. Pitched as a “True Detective” style series set in the DC Universe, Lanterns is a a small-town murder mystery spanning several decades, multiple generation…
ADULT SUPERVISION MOVIE REVIEW In this Swedish entry this year for Best International Feature Film at the Oscars, we get to explore trauma in a different way then we’re used to seeing it of late (in horror movie after horror movie, natch).
