Tyree Holland: I'm doing well, man. It's a great day. Every day above ground, it's a great day, man.
dre: Hey man, it it's sensitive times out there right now. You talking about paperwork. I I don't want no paperwork around me, but you know, I'm blessed to to be here for another day, man. Today is the day that the Lord has made, and we're about to get into it.
The Historian: Facts. Only paperwork I want is when you're talking about somebody signing a check and giving it to me tax free. That's what I want. But we not go talk
Tyree Holland: Hello.
The Historian: what you say, Tyree.
Tyree Holland: Hello.
The Historian: Cash it. But
Tyree Holland: Ha ha ha.
The Historian: man, let's go ahead and get into this quick. Are quarterbacks leaving early ruining their NFL careers at this point? Let's start this one with Dre, because me and you always start Tyree. Let's let Dre start it today. What you got, Dre?
dre: Yeah, man. So I don't think that the issue is simply that quarterbacks are leaving college too early. The bigger issue is that the developmental grace period in the NFL is shrinking. Right? Like before you used to see guys get three to even four years to truly develop. And it was kind of a rite of passage for for quarterbacks to not look all that good early in their career. Now we've had more guys that have been successful early on in recent years and I think that that has kind of changed that trend to where quarterbacks aren't necessarily given the same grace that they were before. But also we're in the NIL age, especially with the five for five rule now, guys should stay in college for an extra year and get those starts there, especially with the amount of money that teams like Miami and Indiana are throwing around in the portal. for the quarterback position and I think that that would help a lot of these young quarterbacks develop and be more NFL ready when they come into the league.
The Historian: I have to say for me, I I think the development is what's really destroying the game right now. And when I say destroying it, you're not seeing the production that you should be seeing out of not just quarterbacks but players, but we're keeping it on quarterbacks when you look at how they're able to read a defense, understand to throw through windows, understanding how to look a safety off, just basic things. Some s some quarterbacks don't even know how to play under center. Because they've been playing in the pistol the whole time they were in college. So if I'm looking at this, I think a lot of quarterbacks are stunting their growth and the position is being shortchanged at this point. I think it needs to be guys that are there trying to develop and getting better at their position. But it's, you know, the old adage is true. Sometimes, you know, Some guys don't need to stay as long because some are smarter and then you have some that just have to wait their turn. You know, Mac Jones is a perfect example that he waited his turn. He's doing well in the NFL. You look at Ty Ty Simpson out of Alabama, he's doing the same thing. And you know, I'm just speaking on those
dre: Roll tide.
The Historian: Bama quarterbacks because of they had to wait their turn before they ended up stepping out and balling out. So congrats to those guys still doing their thing in the league. And I think that that still needs to happen at this point. That's just my opinion.
dre: Tyree, you know what I just got from what he just said before you go. If you wanna be if you
Tyree Holland: What you s what's going on?
dre: wanna be developed and be NFL ready at the quarterback position, come to them. Roll time, man.
The Historian: I didn't say that you need to listen, you need to start talking out of the side of your mouth like you farting. Just that's what you sound like right now.
dre: Roll tide.
Tyree Holland: Roll tide.
The Historian: Roll man, roll y'all right into the river. But go ahead, Tyree, what you got?
Tyree Holland: Wow. young quarterbacks often fail in the NFL because they leave college not learning how to play against elite defenses. Outstanding talent gets you picked early in the draft. For example, JJ McCarthy played in a run first offense. Anthony Richardson had accuracy issues and concerns. Trey Lance played at a lower level. within college before jumping to the pros. A five star ranking or being selected near the top of the draft doesn't mean you're NFL ready. Total game counts matter less than what the coaches are asking you to actually do.
dre: Yeah, I think when you look at the quarterbacks, you guys do have a point, right? Like certain systems aren't really built to develop quarterbacks, they're built to win football games. And I think you even see that difference in a guy like Fernando Mendoza and Ty Simpson. Right? Fernando Mendoza won the Heisman last year, but which quarterback was more NFL ready going into the league? I mean, based on preseason, in my opinion it was Todd Simpson. If if anybody disagrees, comment below. Or if one of y'all disagree, let me know.
The Historian: I just look at it like this, man. When you see quarterbacks that are coming out, you know, remember before Sarkeesian got to Texas, you know, USC was a quarterback for him. He was a part of that. He and Lane Kiffin. And when you look at the type of quarterbacks that they had to come through there, they had quite a few during the Pete Carroll era. You know, two Heismans at at that position had a guy that was in the running for a Heisman at the quarterback spot. When you when you look at some of those guys that came through. So I I just sit back and I just wonder sometimes, where has quarterback development gone and when are we gonna start seeing when are we gonna start seeing it again? Because there's a lot of guys who play, wait, and some guys get to the league and they're not developed. You know, point in case there's another quarterback that he had a great preseason game, but he's he struggled and that's Jalen Milrow, Maybach, as y'all as is our guy Grim would like to call him. And I'm just using him as an
Tyree Holland: Mm.
The Historian: example. Hell, I'll even use one of mine, Stetson Bennett. Stetson has been behind Matthew Stafford for a minute, but Stafford, of course, money and has the experience. Stetson's not gonna get in there. Is pretty much they're gonna put Ty Simpson at that spot because they drafted him in the first in the first round. So I'm looking at it from this standpoint. Stetson's got to go elsewhere to get his name out. It's not that he can't play. It's just the fact that he's just been in bad situations time after time again. But hey, he's used to waiting. And once he gets his opportunity, he'll take over. But I still think the development has to happen on the collegiate level. And these kids gotta understand they got to start being patient with the pretty much with development.
dre: I agree with that.
Tyree Holland: speaking of the
dre: development is not something that guys should expect coming into the NFL. Getting better at doing your job and truly developing I t I think are two different things. Right? But these guys like I if I guess if you're athletic enough Maybe a team will take a chance on you, like Uar Bernard with the with the Eagles and the Pathways program or other guys we've seen in the past, but it it just most times it's not gonna work. speaking of something else that it it hopefully is not gonna work. We got Lane Kiffin versus Dabo in in the fake Death Valley. Brian Denny East, as some like to call it. Tyree, why don't you why don't you give us your prediction for the game first? Who you got winning?
Tyree Holland: Speaking of the spotlight college football game, Clemson versus LSU, I got LSU. LSU has an overwhelming advantage playing, with playmaker depth, overpowering offense under, Lane Kippen, and then also playing in a hostile environment in Death Valley, making them an overwhelming favorite to also break down An underprepared quarterback and a retooled defense.
The Historian: Well, I look at it like this. Clemson's coming into a hostile environment. Clemson has to figure it out. You know, they have great playmakers, they're bringing a lot of players back, but the difference is you're playing against a team that had a very good defense last year. The problem was their offense couldn't score more than 17 points a game. So if we're gonna be honest, now you're adding offense to that defense where they're not gonna be worn out because Lane Kiffin, as much as people dislike this guy and they can't stand him, you really have to respect his offensive his offensive prowess. He's definitely a borderline mor moronic genius. And when I say moronic, moronic in the way he handles his business as a coach and as a person, but as a football man, one of the best out there when it comes to calling play. So I would take LSU in this game. I don't think it's gonna be a blowout. I think it's gonna probably come down to who makes the least amount of mistakes and it's gonna probably be a three to maybe ten point ball game.
dre: I got LSU winning this game too, unfortunately, but I would love nothing more for Dabbo to pull it off. Christopher Vizinha is walking in the Baton Rouge at night for just his second career start. Now Vizinha grew up a Bama fan, so maybe Brian Denny East won't bother him. He's been watching Alabama beat LSU his whole life. But seriously, this is a tall task for Clemson. His first start was actually pretty impressive. 317 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions against SMU. So the kid can play a little bit. starting at home against SMU and on the road at night against LSU is two different environments, and it's going to be really tough to deal with. Then on top of that, you've got this being the Lane Kiffin debut. And this isn't supposed to be a quiet introduction. He wants to make a statement. LSU has the talent to do it. They brought in 40 transfers. And this man didn't stop at the transfer portal. He started checking the NFL waiver wire. Lane looked at that forty million dollar roster and said, Nah, still not enough. Who got cut on Sunday? And that's why I'm picking LSU. But here's why I start to question myself Are we undervaluing Clemson? Because we overvalued them so badly last year.
The Historian: I'm I'm not gonna say that because I think Clemson is due for a bounce back year. Even if they were to lose this game, I still see them having a solid season because again, they don't I don't think they have that much resistance to deal with. But on LSU side of the house, let's just be honest. Lane Kiffin is always in the midst of something. Drama, ever drama follows him everywhere he goes. I I'm just gonna be honest with you. If Lane Kiffin didn't have a I'll just say that if Lane Kiffin didn't have a legendary father as a defensive guru, I would honestly have to sit back and say he might be related a little bit to William Shakespeare because everywhere that he goes, it's theater. It's just theater. There's drama that follows him from the Fallout with the Raiders to the mustard bottles and golf balls of Tennessee to You're looking at a little bit of the fallout and F A U, when he goes the old miss. He uses the transfer portal to build a team. And then he leaves his team pretty much right before the playoffs and then goes to a rival school in the LSU. And now you have something going on with the court system that you're trying to wait to see if players can be eligible that have been in NFL camps. It just seems as if. Trouble and drama just follow this dude everywhere he goes. He's like a bad odor and a bad rash. Tyree.
Tyree Holland: Man, all I'ma say is don't judge him, Joe Brown.
The Historian: So I done went from being called the historian to the judge. Wow.
Tyree Holland: You ain't lying.
dre: Well look, I've d the only reason I asked the question is because Clemson was ranked number fourth in the nation last year, right? And obviously
Tyree Holland: Yeah.
dre: we were wrong about that in hindsight. But they're unranked this year for the first time since I want to say twenty ten or twenty eleven. I still think they have a pretty talented roster and they they still have a blue chip ratio from fifty percent. LSU is at fifty nine percent, so Yes, there's a difference there, but Clemson has a continuity that LSU doesn't have. LSU's bringing in obviously a new head coach, a new offensive coordinator, a new quarterback, and like I said, over forty new players, including a few coming back from the NFL. So while I do think LSU is the more talented team. Are they really a team or are they just a talented group of players?
Tyree Holland: Andre, you said forty million dollars. I don't think you can have that much cohesion when you're throwing together mercenaries like that. But hey, I might be wrong. Well, how do you feel about that, Rai? The balance of chemistry versus mercenaries. How you feel about that situation?
The Historian: We'll find out. We'll find out soon enough because let's be honest. It's it's just like my military days. I tell people all the time, you know what someone is made of when you go through adversity and hell with them. and I'm you know, it's just some situations I won't talk about, you know. Shout out to my branch of service who I'm keep that unnamed or whatnot, but I'll just say this. Hey
Tyree Holland: Thank you for your service. Thank you for your service, brother.
The Historian: man, I appreciate it, but I just say this. When you're forced to be in situations with people and you have and you're not just put together by a dollar amount and you guys have to live together, eat together, train together, work together, that forms a bond, even with the people that you dislike the most. You get what I'm saying? You're gonna have somebody's back in some of the worst situations. So when I look at this situation from being a former athlete myself, just like Dre, and we all talk about it. You understand what guys are made of when you guys go through hell and back when it comes through training, comes to your weightlifting, comes through having problems at home where the only thing you have is you go into that facility, you working out with guys, you talking to guys, you spending time with guys. When you have a team full of guys that come in that have not spent years together and they don't have a rapport, you know, it it the the effect is not the same. It's it's just not at that point. And I don't think guys are gonna fight as hard as a team that would fight that's been together. That's just my opinion on it.
dre: I think that we won't know the answer to this until we see those guys hit the field. We've seen others have success going to get mercenaries. I mean we've seen Kiffin have success going to get mercenaries through the portal. It hasn't led to a championship yet. objectively he has been successful because everybody can't win the national championship. we've also seen it turn into a disaster. A la FSU, who by the way They don't look great this year either. But that's a team that two years ago was just a bunch of put together mercenaries and I hated that team. I was so down on that team going into the year, going into week zero. And I I was proved right. So i I I think it's too early on to say if it can work or not. But I do think that if Clemson can keep this game close in the fourth quarter, we'll find out everything we need to know about this LSU team. Right? Because a a team will be able to rally around one another and get the job done. A group of mercenaries, they won't. They'll fall apart and they'll end up losing that game. A loss for Dabble in this game. Does that push him one step closer to the door? Or do you think because he's not expected to really truly win this game, we can't really take much from it and just have to see how the rest of the season goes for Clemson?
Tyree Holland: To be honest with you, Andre What was Clemson before Dabo? That's the real question. What truly,
The Historian: Mm.
Tyree Holland: what were they? Because he established the winning culture. Of course, there's been some down years, not that many playoff wins and national championships back in the day, they were trying to compare him to Nick Saban, that's laughable. as long as he has I say seven to eight wins this season, it's a successful season at Clemson.
The Historian: I'll say it like this, man. Historically, Clemson had a championship before he got there in '81. Danny Ford. So I can't sit there and say that Clemson was irrelevant because they were still putting guys in the NFL. You get what I'm saying? And the person who established that culture was Charlie Pale. But if we're gonna sit here and be honest about it, Dabo Sweeney is a guy that you can trust that is gonna get the best out of his players. I don't think that they're gonna get rid of him because let's be honest, you guys like you know what? I'm gonna go ahead and give you something, a little nugget that y'all might not know. Outside of Dabo Sweeney, y'all know where Danny Ford played football at?
Tyree Holland: Where?
The Historian: Alabama. He was an offensive tackle for Bear Bryant and actually was one of the best during one of the best offensive linemen during that time, up under Coach Bryant. So If you look at it, Alabama has influenced a lot of Clemson's winning ways. And that goes back to Bear Bryant. And then you had Danny Ford. I'm sorry, Danny Ford was with Bear Bryant. And then you had Dabo Sweeney who played for Gene Stallings. and Gene Stallings was a Bear Bryant clone because he was one of his junction boys at Texas AM. So Alabama football. has literally been a blueprint for Clemson's success, if we're gonna be honest. I just wanted to change that and throw some historical topics in there, you know. I'ma give y'all some credit today, as much as I can't stand y'all asses, I'ma give y'all some credit today.
Tyree Holland: What's
dre: I but hold on because we are only a year removed from Clemson making the college football playoff too. It
The Historian: Agreed.
dre: it like and that's why I think that that's why I asked the question I asked earlier, because this team could be a whole lot better than we're expecting this team to be. And if they come out here and punch LSU in the mouth early, man, they could really make this a ball game. It's just my biggest concern. Even though he's a Bama fan, is the the quarterback over there for Clemson, man. One career
Tyree Holland: Mm-hmm.
dre: start going into Death Valley at night. Like, hey, look, if he gets it done, he deserves
The Historian: Right.
dre: some respect for real. I'm I'm just saying, man. If he gets that done.
The Historian: But Dre, let's keep it honest. Look at their schedule. Look at their schedule. LSU is the first game. They get Georgia Southern. No disrespect to our my brothers down there in Georgia Southern because again, we're UGA's tied to them in a lot of ways. That's another episode. But they got Georgia Southern, Carolina, Cal, Miami, V Tech, Charleston Southern, Florida State, Syracuse Duke, Georgia Tech, and South Carolina. They have some, they have some art some arduous task on that schedule this year, to be honest, fellas. So it's not like it's gonna be a walk in the park. I think it I think this W, if they get it this weekend, could bolster their confidence, as you're saying, Dre, to take them through a little bit of a tough task that they gonna have at this pretty much with the schedule this year.
Tyree Holland: speaking speaking of confidence, I want to ask you fellas, man, in this NIL era, you know, every Andre mentioned earlier in our conversation, not everybody can win the natty, which is true, but in this NIL era, what do you guys see as a successful season?
dre: Man, they've changed the playoffs so much now to where like there's just so many variants that go into winning a championship. Like they it's becoming more and more like the NFL. Which, by the way, they're I mean, even the offseason is becoming more and more like the NFL. But that's a conversation for another day, too. And I I I think it's hard to really truly win a championship nowadays. So I'll say you get into the playoffs and win a quality playoff game. I'm not talking about you you beat Tulane in the first round. Like you play a quality opponent, you get a win. I think that that is a successful season for most programs. But then you have programs that have a quarterback like Keelan Russell. Right? That and
Tyree Holland: Hello.
dre: my expectation is I need at least to get to the Natty in year one. w that's my expectation. Now it's hard, but that kid's special.
The Historian: Man, you need to get off that gunpowder, that crack rock if you thinking y'all finna go in the first in his first year. No. I give him his second year, but his first? No. No, that ain't no bold prediction.
dre: Hey, hey, hey, my that's my bold prediction. That's my bold prediction for this season. that's my bold prediction for the season. What's your bold prediction for the season? Let me hear one.
The Historian: My bold prediction is Gunnar Stockton might win another SEC championship. I don't think it might happen, but hey, it's a chance.
dre: Might and no, no, no, no, no, no, no. You heads in your bets when you saying might.
The Historian: No, it's not me hedging my bet. My opinion
Tyree Holland: Yeah.
The Historian: no, that's my opinion. It's not gonna lie align with yours, and it's okay. It's
dre: No, but it is
The Historian: okay.
Tyree Holland: Hold on, hold on, hold on, Andre. I want to get Rod's opinion. What's your like in the NIL era, what's your identity as like a true like a true successful season if it's not winning a championship? 'Cause you know, N. I. L. change
The Historian: A true successful season is getting to the playoffs and having a winning record. If you can get to the playoffs and whether you're playing in the first round or the second round, that's a successful season. As much as I I'm I'm old school. I believe I want to win it all. I don't want to just get into the playoffs and just slide through to get to a championship that way. No, I want to be an undisputed champ. You understand what I'm saying? I want the
Tyree Holland: I hear.
The Historian: conference championship. And then I want the national championship. And it can be done. It'll be a little bit tougher, but it's been done three times recently.
dre: No, I
Tyree Holland: Yeah.
dre: I can agree with that. That that's honestly winning a playoff game I I think is should be viewed as successful. Even though the natty is the goal. Right. so when is Kirby actually gonna live up to that standard again?
The Historian: Well, Kirby will be Kirby will be in that standard, but the funny part about it is, you know, there's a coach by the name of Kaylin De Boy that still drop draws or whatnot when it when it counts, when the money's on the table. So he doesn't know what it feels like to even win. No,
dre: We we won a playoff game last year. Did you?
The Historian: no, no, no, no, no, no. He doesn't know what it feels like to win on the big stage yet. It's okay.
dre: No, no, no, no, no, no. We won a playoff game last year, did you?
The Historian: The playoff wins is nothing. That's like you taking a chick out to eat and giving her dinner. So so Dre, so here's my question.
dre: He he's been to the national championship more recently than Kirby has.
The Historian: When is Alabama gonna get another national championship?
Tyree Holland: This year?
dre: Hey with with Keila either this year or next year. It might a and we might go back
The Historian: Man, you know what? I'm just gonna say this here for y'all. Hopefully y'all can do this here.
dre: to back. Back to back.
The Historian: Both of y'all can do that. Shut your mouth. Because you're lying. You're lying.
Tyree Holland: wow. Look, but no, but honestly
The Historian: You land.
Tyree Holland: but honestly I feel like Member went into Natty. That's like not my non-biased opinion. I actually truly believe that.
The Historian: here we go with this here.
dre: I do think that we're one of I look, I think we can agree that the pool isn't super big when it comes to teams that can win a national championship. There's probably only like eight to ten teams realistically that have a chance. We are one of those teams.
Tyree Holland: And honestly, I feel like and Andre, honestly, I feel like a lot of people overlook In Belma. And I prefer that. I don't mind that at all.
The Historian: Nobody's overlooking you. The problem is this. We already know that
dre: yeah, no, we are.
The Historian: you're in the playoffs. No, y'all try to use that rap poison to have your fans seem humble, and none of y'all are humble. None of the Dumbo fans are humble. I ain't trying to hear that. No, no, no, no. You know what?
dre: Hey no man. Hey, we just we just happy to see football again, man. Look, I I w look, hey, Eastern Carolina is a respectable program
The Historian: Mm-mm.
dre: and it's gonna be a great game. You know, I just listened to their head coach on the radio.
The Historian: All I'm saying is this stop trying to seem humble. No, because here's the problem: the
dre: Mm-hmm. Yeah.
The Historian: reason why y'all are trying to say what you're saying is because y'all are trying to dim the expectations to a certain degree and say, Well, everybody's against us. No, everybody's not against y'all because here's the thing: you guys have been consistently in the playoffs, even after Saban has gone. Y'all have been. Y'all missed one year, but y'all been consistently in the playoffs. You guys just hadn't been back to a natty, but we're not gonna sit there and act like Alabama has just turned into Florida State at this point. That's just BS. That's just BS.
dre: no, man. We lost to Florida State, man. Hey. We hey, man.
The Historian: It don't matter. You were still in the playoffs. Like you can't know. I'm not gonna I'm hold look, I'm holding both of y'all feet to the fire. I'm roasting y'all like pigs, pigs at a doggone Winnie Roast. That's what I'm doing. Pause. So I'm just saying.
dre: Hey, didn't you have a guy retire today, Rye?
The Historian: Yeah. He just didn't want to play anymore. And what's they got to do? We got plenty of depth. I'm not worried about it.
dre: One day is for the start.
The Historian: No, he was a rotational piece. He wasn't a starter.
dre: He wasn't supposed to start next to Elijah Griffin.
The Historian: No, he was a rotational piece. You do realize that, right? I don't know why you keep asking these questions like you don't know.
dre: okay, so maybe I maybe b maybe
Tyree Holland: And
dre: 'cause maybe what I was listening to was some bad information. It seemed like a pretty reputable source, but okay.
Tyree Holland: Hold on, hold on.
The Historian: It depends on where you got it from because if I know if it's a if if it's the same source that I think you're talking about, I wouldn't I wouldn't trust that source as much as I would trust drinking lead poison.
Tyree Holland: speaking of lead poison, I want to ask you, Rai real quick for the listeners, man, who is the player you guys are talking about?
The Historian: Xavier McLeod, University of South Carolina transfer that's played for Georgia for two seasons.
Tyree Holland: Okay,
The Historian: No, see Andre wanted to come up in here and try to just be nasty. That's all he was trying to do. And and see, and no, no, no, no, no, no. And I'm telling you, this is what I can't do. I just can't
Tyree Holland: Yeah.
dre: No, I'm just like you you you you got a lot to say about my program and you just had a guy retire right before the season started. I'm just saying, like, that's crazy. I can't go for that. That's what I that that's why I had to come back. I d what are we doing here,
The Historian: I can't go for that. I can't go for that. No, but but okay, so here's the question.
dre: sir?
The Historian: No, the re Hey, so here's my question. So when you get tired of playing, doesn't matter what level, you're gonna have to hang up your shoes. What if he was tired of playing? What if he doesn't want to go through running in the heat anymore, beating up his body? What if he doesn't want to do that? He's already graduated, so Why not just go ahead and get a job at this point? It's not that he wasn't a bad, it wasn't that he was a bad player because they actually had him listed being third, fourth round pick next year coming out. So he was a rotational piece that was actually going to end up getting an opportunity at the next level. Maybe he just wanted to walk away from the game. Everybody comes up with all these excuses and everything else. Sometimes people lose their desire to play. Tyree, you would know a little bit about that. Michael Jordan lost his desire in the middle of a championship run.
Tyree Holland: Yeah.
The Historian: So I'm just saying, some guys do. No, it wasn't a c it wasn't a cover up. It's just the truth. But I like how you try to throw that out there.
Tyree Holland: Hold up, hold up. It wasn't no cover up. Alright. Alright, little man, my Chicago Bulls fans, we ride out for the GOAT now the hey, be careful now.
The Historian: I ain't gotta be careful, I'ma call a spade a spade.
Tyree Holland: Now I'm talking about Andre talking about some allegedly.
The Historian: Ain't no allegedly. I'm calling the spade a spade.
dre: As well.
The Historian: That man, that man retired.
Tyree Holland: Yeah.
The Historian: And you know what? We ain't even gonna go there. We we'll say that for basketball season, man.
dre: First of all, if you if your NBA team if your NBA team has won a championship in your adult life, please let me know. See?
The Historian: now you want to put gold parameters on it. We ain't doing that. No, no. We're not putting no. See, this is the prop.
Tyree Holland: now you wanna do that. Now you wanna do that.
The Historian: See, this is the problem with anybody that's under 35. They always want to try to put parameters on the a debate so they can try to win it. Hell no. We're not letting you slide with that. No, sir. No. No, no, no. We're not doing that. We
Tyree Holland: No, not at all, man. Cause
dre: All right, all right. So what about Super Bowls? Can we do that? How many Super Bowls
Tyree Holland: Ha ha ha ha.
dre: y'all done seen in your lifetime? All right.
The Historian: And and and now and now you want and now you want to go there. I got you. I already see how you want to try to play to try to win a debate. See, this is how see, ladies and gentlemen, this is how you know ladies and gentlemen, this is how you know that you have literally
dre: Matter of fact, how many national championships have you seen in your lifetime? You y see what?
The Historian: just debowed somebody in the conversation when they gotta try to switch the conversation at hand. So I'll let y'all be the judge of that one, folks. We snatching chains around here. You know how it go. Absolutely.
Tyree Holland: Hey, what'd he say? My grandmama gave me that chain.
dre: Nah, just to remind you.
Tyree Holland: He said, My grandma gave me that chain.
The Historian: Hey man, we snatch and chains
dre: You
The Historian: and we just make it We make it look easy. That's how we do it over here.
dre: And a and I'm snatching and I'm snatching leads like the Patriots in the Superbowl.
The Historian: Yeah, but you ain't the one to do it though. It's okay. You gotta see
dre: Yeah.
The Historian: this is what you gotta do. See, you like to try to make your point by talking about somebody else's dirty work that you didn't do. So it's okay. It's okay.
dre: Okay, well what about when we have more sacks and you have points in a playoff?
The Historian: Hey man, that's long time ago, ancient history. Like I said, you keep moving the goalposts because you already know that I'm getting ready to body you in this conversation. So let it go. Let it go. It's like you gotta keep
dre: My NFL team is better than yours.
The Historian: switching the topics or whatnot, but let's go ahead and keep this thing relevant. Let's get back to your Alabama Crimson tide. Are you gonna be able to run for more than negative three yards in the SEC championship game this year?
Tyree Holland: Yes.
dre: Yeah, we did last year.
The Historian: BS, you had negative three yards. Stop that.
dre: Yeah, because quarterback sacks are counted as r a rushing yard.
The Historian: Hold up. I don't want to hear it. It's still part of the Russian game. I don't care. I don't care.
dre: Well, you I just what I said
Tyree Holland: Yeah.
dre: wasn't what I said was factual though. I I said we did last year.
The Historian: Yeah, but I know what you're trying to do. You trying to twist the narrative. At the end of the day, regardless of how you spin it,
dre: No, you just you ask me a question, I answer the question.
The Historian: no, but regardless of how you spin it, when you look at that box score and it says rushing yards, it doesn't say because of quarterback sacks or certain technicalities, you're not weaseling out of this here. I'm just gonna tell you right now, it has a minus,
dre: I I rushed for more than negative three yards last year.
The Historian: it has a subtraction sign with the number trace, aka three.
dre: Hey, are are you gonna be able to beat me in a game where I don't score in the second half?
The Historian: Of course. Easily.
dre: You know, this w somehow that game gets forgotten. When we walked into y'all house and we did that, you know, that one gets forgotten.
The Historian: I just say look, hey, I'ma give you the Nino Brown sound sound for this one. How did he Tyree? How did he
Tyree Holland: What's up?
The Historian: Tyree? Hold up. How did Nino Brown say it when he was in the courtroom? How did he say it to everybody when he got he knew he was gonna get that plea deal? This is what I'll say about us beating Alabama. Absolutely. Absolutely.
Tyree Holland: Ha ha ha ha ha.
dre: Are you guaranteeing that right now?
The Historian: You already heard it. I'm not backing down. You beat us, you beat us. But I don't think you're gonna beat us this year. I call I'm saying that shoot. Y'all act like y'all the only ones that
dre: Yeah. Yeah, I gotta come into Tuscaloosa.
Tyree Holland: I'm not gonna lie.
The Historian: that bring in players.
Tyree Holland: I'm not gonna lie, I'm laughing at it, but I'm a Bama fan too. I got Bama look, I got Bama winning than natty. You can say what you want.
The Historian: know you do but right now it's the G right now it's the GEC Georgia Eastern Conference that's what it is right now since
Tyree Holland: wow. Okay.
dre: Yeah.
The Historian: y'all want to go there
Tyree Holland: Beep beep Lil' Beep Beep
dre: Yeah. Maybe that's why the Big Ten better than us right now then.
The Historian: Nah, the Big Ten is better than us because y'all got monkey stomped
dre: Mm.
The Historian: by Indiana. We only got beat by SEC team. We don't lose to teams outside of the conference like y'all do, like that. we lost to Notre Dame. Yeah, you're right, but they're not a part of a conference, though. Y'all been getting slapped up by the Big Ten for how long?
dre: Y'all lost to Notre Dame last year. Stop it. Y'all lost to an independent. Yeah, y'all lost to an independent. Yeah. Come on.
Tyree Holland: Mm.
The Historian: You lost to Michigan twice in one year. Twice in one year. We are not the same. We are not the same. The same Michigan
dre: I damn sure did. I did. Hey.
Tyree Holland: Hey, it happens. It happens. It happens.
The Historian: team that you lost to.
dre: Have you won a pl have you won a playoff game since
The Historian: Wing scaldred.
dre: then? Have you won a playoff game since then?
The Historian: Mm mm. But ha but here's the question. Have you won a national championship since twenty twenty one? Have you won a national championship? Matter of fact, when's the last time you won
dre: I have. Hey Tyree, have you won have you won since then? You won a playoff game since then?
Tyree Holland: Yes.
The Historian: a conference championship since you wouldn't go there?
dre: Didn't we just say didn't we just say winning a playoff game earlier is considered success?
The Historian: we did. And I have no problem with saying we have it. I have no problem with that. I don't run from that. But what I find hilarious is this.
dre: So Kirby has failed for the last three years.
The Historian: You have yet to win a conference championship in a couple of years, right?
dre: It's it's been a few, yeah. It's been a few.
The Historian: Don't get quiet now. Go on here to talk.
dre: Nah it's been a few.
The Historian: Exactly. But
Tyree Holland: Yeah.
The Historian: right now I know what you're doing. I was praying on his downfall. I know that's what y'all doing. It's okay. I'm still gonna rise up, baby.
dre: I mean w just based on the standards of the conversation earlier I came to the conclusion that Kirby's been a failure for the last three years because we said winning a playoff game.
The Historian: Kirby's actually on the conference. Stop it. Stop it. That's your coach that's been a failure. You lose to Michigan. We don't do that. We don't do that. Y'all do. You
dre: we won a playoff game last year.
The Historian: lost to Indiana. Y'all supposed to be Big Bad Bama. I don't want to hear no excuses.
dre: Yeah. Didn't they win a national championship?
The Historian: Again, neither did you.
Tyree Holland: No, we w no he said he said Indy won the national Yeah.
dre: No, I said didn't they win the national championship?
The Historian: they did, yes. But you didn't. The question is this. We're talking about no, it's funny how you try to say,
Tyree Holland: They Yes. That's all to
dre: Yeah, hats off to Ain't no shame in losing
The Historian: well, the Big Ten is
dre: to the national champion.
The Historian: better than the SEC, but at the same time, we haven't been losing the Big Ten teams. You have. Tennessee has. We have not lost to a Big Ten team in the playoffs.
dre: Objectively the I was it was it was more so talking about also the people that are running the conference, you know,
The Historian: Dre.
dre: past the b no, that honestly that's Sankey has been getting bodied recently by by
The Historian: You know what that that that's
dre: the big ten.
The Historian: I agree with you on that.
dre: Okay.
Tyree Holland: You know, s since we gotta end it, we ended on a positive note, you know, brothers coming back to agreeance, you know. This has been episode nine of Gridiron Views send the paperwork. More life, more blessings.
