Using optical technologies to move data around is not new. What is new is using optics and photonics for AI applications, particularly at the chip level.
Lightelligence has designed a way to harness the shades generated by the photonics technology to significantly boost chip-level transfers. It takes some pressure off the CPUs and memory systems, and potentially reduces the power in the system.
That sounded like rocket science to me, so I asked Mo Steinman, the Senior VP and General Manager of the U.S. at Lightelligence, to explain it to me. Hear his take on this week’s Embedded Executives podcast.

Many engineers have been in their current positions for a long time. In many instances, that’s a great thing. But it could mean that you’re missing out on a great opportunity. That said, where do you turn if you’re “job shopping,” and if you get an interview, what do you do?
To answer these questi…
The term software-defined vehicle (SDV) is not new, not even close. The technology has been around for a long time, and you could argue it has been in place and in use for a long time. But the vision goes so far beyond what we have seen to date. And to me, that’s pretty disappointing.
To gauge whe…
