Richard Michael DeWine (born January 5, 1947) is an American politician and attorney currently serving as the 70th governor of Ohio. A member of the Republican Party, DeWine is a former United States Senator, elected in 1994 and re-elected in 2000. In 2006, DeWine ran for re-election to a third term, but was defeated by the Democratic nominee, U.S. Representative Sherrod Brown.
