► Tell us about you and your podcast
Our names are Trevor and Riley and we are the hosts of What Goes Bump In The Night. We have been friends for a long time. We became teammates playing college hockey and quickly became great friends. We share the same similar views on alot of cryptic topics and after 3 years of talking about a podcast we finally did it! In this podcast we love to uncover all the things that well go "bump in the night." Wither its paranormal, aliens, zombies, bigfoot, the lockness monster you name it we have probably talked about it. We don't just talk about it we share our own personal experience with the unknow and even go out looking for it. On top of that we love to real spookie stories in our "Does It Go Bump?" Episodes where we read chilling stories and give the verdict of does it bump or not?
Our listeners are amazing group of people that want to hear stories that will send a chill through your bones or people who just want to talk about outterworldy or unanswerable unknows that this world has to offer. We value our listeners with the most gratitude and respect. Cant thank them enough for the support!
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
We started this podcast because we just love talking about these topics we cover and we want out voices to be hear. We love last podcast on the left and they were a big motivation to us. Our goals are to be come well a very popular show for people to listen to. We love this stuff and hope one day to just make content for our listeners and have it be our full time jobs. But lets not get to carried away right now. A lot of work to still be done. We have been podcasting for just over a year and we are now at 34 episodes and growing. Our 1st episode didn't take us long to release once we got our equipment we met up did the pod and bam we were hooked to the world of podcasting.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
We have invested our own money into the podcast. We wish to do at least 2 a week but we both live very busy life's and right now only able to meet up to do one a week. A episode can take us 3 to 4 hours depending on the topic we are going on, how long the story is or just how long we have great banter going on for. We try and find a day that works the best for both of us where we don't have anything major going on in our life's. We dont really spend any money on the podcast, most of the money we spent was for gear and some merch we put out. We do all our own marketing mostly though facebook and social media. We do all our own digital content creation, and episode editing. We spent alot of time learning how to use the programs as we made episodes.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
We would love a sponsorship one day. We have no finance goal though podcasting right now. Though down the road it would really be awesome to have our idea turn into something that helped us gain some money in our bank accounts. That would only help us make the show better and better. If this podcast was to take off and create revenue for us, we would use that to help make the brand bigger and do all the wild ideas we have for the show that we have down the road a reality. We would be forever grateful.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
We use audacity as our software for recording and editing . Its free easy and does the job. We typical have had friends on the show and in our studio. We haven't ventured with the live streaming tools that our out there but its something we are developing and learning to do for the future.
► How do you market your show?
We are on Spotify, podbean, Apple, Google podcast, Listen notes :) Iheart radio, pandora and pretty much every podcasting app out there. We are doing about 30% on Spotify and another 30% on apple right now with the other sites jumping around between 3-5%. We market pretty much through Facebook and Instagram. If people are finding us other ways we would love to learn how.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Don't be scared of your own voice! Then JUST DO IT! Don't worry about plays and downloads, how many people are listening to your show. Just love it and work and dedicate to it. Eventually you will find your crown and they will find you.
