► Tell us about you and your podcast
Ex radio anchor in 90's, I worked for more than 20 years as marketer and communication strategist in french agencies and internation companies (mainly Samsung).
In 2020 I moved from Paris to Montreal.
As I was surprised by the variety and complexity of the quebecan society, I decided to share it with a podcast.
Initially I thought I will be listened by french interested in Quebec. finally it is 33% of my audience.
33% are french native people (France, Belgium, Marocco, Algeria...) already installed in Quebec.
And the last tier is the most surprising to me: quebecan people (through me, they can discover the french society and the main differences between France and Canada)
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
Radio is my passion since I am 13.
Podcasting is a way to reconnect with this passion... and my childhood.
But more seriously, podcasting is an incredible medium of creativity and knowledge. I want to be a part of it.
As I am an immigrant in Québec it seems to me interesting to share my discovery of this country, culture ans society.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
Funding is not a real issue. Podcasting is not free, but really not expensive.
But time is THE main issue.
Saturdays and Sundays are definitevely my best friends.
If I need to work on during my business week, I schedule dedicated time in my agenda.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
There is a sentence about the fact that "we are the average rate of persons we are in contact with". I can tell you that after season 1, my ratio is much higher than it was last year (higher but still low. I have to work on next seasons)
► How does your podcasting process look like?
With the pandemy, the critical point has been audio quality of my guest recordings. I found a very efficient solution with Zencastr.
My others daily tools are : garage band, auphonic, headliner, canva and hootsuite.
► How do you market your show?
You can easily find fais-tu frette : on the audio platforms (apple, spotify etc.) but mainly on my dedicated website. This website is my core strategy in termes of contents and promotion.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Do not try to follow the rules: there is no rules!
Your creativity is the unique limit.
Pleasure must be the unique guidelines. As an example, il you are producing a talk, only interview people who are interested in.
