hamza el din (arabic حمزة علاء الدين) (July 10, 1929 – May 22, 2006) was an Egyptian composer, oud player, tar player, and vocalist. El Din was born in southern Egypt and studied the music of his native region Nubia, near the Egypt–Sudan border. He subsequently lived and studied in Italy, Japan and the United States.
