► Tell us about you and your podcast
I'm a writer, comedian, and worker of two jobs. The podcast covers various topics, because we want our listeners to gain as much knowledge as we can provide and want more. We encourage our listeners to embrace who they are and be proud of themselves always. Our show saying is: Dare To Be Different. Our listeners are anyone and everyone who wants to laugh, learn, and be a part of the Woz Happening family. We know our listeners are the heart and soul of the show and they move us to want to make great shows for them. My cohosts are Patrick and Kyra who each bring a different dynamic to the shows they're on and we hope to take this show to the top of the mountain.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I started the podcast because I feel social media is wasted. What I mean is it's a place where instead of spread knowledge and improving the world as a whole, it's turned into a negative venue to spread junk that hurts others instead of helps. I want people to listen to our show and gain from them and get a good laugh or two. The world needs more laughter.I started podcasting about three years ago and it actually took about a month to release our first episode, it was lots of trial and error. Patrick (Young Buck) Gibb was the biggest help in editing and getting it put together.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
We try to get an episode released at least once a week now. In the beginning it was us releasing an episode every two weeks hopefully🤣😂🤣. Time is the hard thing, I work two jobs and I moved to another state so getting Patrick on is very hard to do now. He's still a cohost, but not as frequently. Kyra and I luckily have Weds mornings off so we record then. The hard part is me editing, it's a complex procedure and I do the best I can to get it all done in order to he released on Saturday or Sunday. I pay for everything from pocket and it's pricey when it comes to getting adds on social media platforms. The thing is if you want to get listeners you have to get your podcast out to them.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
Currently I have no sponsors, but it will happen eventually. We're starting to gain listeners and a steady following around the world. Which we are very proud of. All of us really enjoy doing the research and sharing what we've learned with our listeners.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I use audacity to do the recording and editing for the podcast and got my equipment off Amazon. You can get a good podcast start up equipment for a decent price off Amazon. We are about to have guest appear on on podcast and it's from reaching out to them and some of them reaching out to us. We honestly can't wait to do these episodes and learning more about these guest. We do a lot of research before each episode, compare notes and really work well together which truly helps the process.
► How do you market your show?
Our podcast is listed on almost all podcast streaming servers. I also post on many major social media platforms when we release an episode or have anything related to the podcast. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are great place to get your show noticed.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
My suggestion to anyone starting out would be don't get frustrated if you don't get 1,000 listeners right away. It's a process, there's so much to learn, a lot of trial and error. Keep plugging and believe in what you do. The only way it'll truly work is if you work it. Get your podcast on all platforms, promote, do whatever you need to do. It will happen for you and your podcast.
► Where can we learn more about you & your podcasts?
So You can find out more about me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin and the same goes for the podcast. You can also go to wozhappening.com and find out more.
