Gregory John Chaitin ( CHY-tin; born 25 June 1947) is an Argentine-American mathematician and computer scientist. Beginning in the late 1960s, Chaitin made contributions to algorithmic information theory and metamathematics, in particular a computer-theoretic result equivalent to Gödel's incompleteness theorem. He is considered to be one of the founders of what is today known as algorithmic (Solomonoff-Kolmogorov-Chaitin, Kolmogorov or program-size) complexity together with Andrei Kolmogorov and Ray Solomonoff.
Gregory Chaitin: Complexity, Randomness, and the Omega Number
Gregory Chaitin explores algorithmic information theory, Gödel's incompleteness, and the Omega number, probing what randomness truly means. He also tackles cold fusion and the foundations of life, linking math, physics, and metaphysics.0:00 Introduction2:27 Chaitin's Self-Taught Journey6:56 Chaitin…
What Are Breakthroughs in Mathematics?
Call mathematics the purest form of knowledge, universal messaging anyone, anywhere, can understand. For math to advance, there must be breakthroughs, which may seem like magic. What are mathematical breakthroughs? How do they happen? How do they work?

Is Mathematics Invented or Discovered?
Mathematics describes the real world of atoms and acorns, stars and stairs, with remarkable precision. So is mathematics invented by humans-like chisels and hammers and pieces of music? Or is mathematics discovered-always out there, somewhere, like mysterious islands waiting to be found?

When the proof comes as white light and angels
The felt experience of mathematics — witchcraft and black magic — “Shut up, kid!” — what is a real number? — shocked and embarrassed — clouds all the way down — a choir of angels singing — painting Cthulhu’s third eye on the walls of our mathematics and science departments

Are We Just Lines of Code?
What if God isn’t a mystical figure, but a programmer, and the universe we live in is made of algorithms? In this mind-bending exploration inspired by the work of Gregory Chaitin, we dive into the profound idea that the complexity of reality stems from a few simple rules. From Gödel’s incompletenes…
