Carlos Jesús Torre Repetto (29 November 1904 – 19 March 1978) was a Mexican chess player and the first from his country to be awarded the title of grandmaster, accorded by FIDE in 1977.
== Biography ==
Born in Mérida, Yucatán, Torre spent much of his early life in New Orleans, US and developed as a young player under the tutelage of the New Orleans player Edwin Ziegler Adams. Torre later published an extraordinary combination that was supposed to have occurred in a game Adams–Torre and featured White's victory.
