Why Biotech Talks About AI But Won't Pay for the Data It Needs
Everyone in biotech agrees AI needs more data. Almost no one is willing to pay for it.
If you're trying to build or buy a biotech AI model, you've hit the same wall: predictive performance depends on data your budget doesn't cover, and nobody in the field seems willing to close that gap.

What the Prefect-Dagster Merger Means for Your Orchestration Stack
Prefect just bought Dagster. Two of the biggest names in orchestration are now one company, and the reasons go well beyond a slow grower getting folded into a faster one.
If you're trying to work out whether your orchestration tool is about to get sidelined, or whether "agent governance" is reall…
How to Turn Single-Cell Data Into a New Class of Cell-Depleting Therapies
Why treating the cell, not the protein, could turn chronic disease treatment into something closer to a cure.
You've built single-cell pipelines that spit out clusters, p-values and target lists, but nothing that survives contact with the clinic. What if the clustering method itself is quietly le…
How to Build a Data Team Ready for AI Agents, Not Just People
Your data platform used to serve people. Now it has to serve agents too, and that changes what you build and who you hire.
Two people ask an AI agent the same question and get two different numbers back, and neither can explain how their agent got there. That's the moment a data leader realises t…
How to Identify the Blind Spots in Your Biotech's Genomic Data Before They Cost You a Drug Target
Most drug discovery genomic data comes from a thin slice of the world, and that bias follows every decision downstream.
Your team can run a Mendelian randomization study on 35,000 patients and still walk away with a single signal that doesn't even apply to the population you care about. If your p…
How to Know When Open-Weight AI Models Actually Save You Money
AT&T runs 45 billion AI tokens a day, and open-weight models already handle a quarter of that load.
If your business is burning through a frontier-model bill without knowing which tasks actually need frontier intelligence, you're leaving cash on the table every single day.

DrugBank CEO: Why Your AI Model Is Only Giving You Half the Answer
Ask a general AI model how many approved drugs hit a target, and it might tell you three when the real answer is six, sounding just as confident either way.
If your team is grounding drug discovery decisions in AI output with no way to trace where the answer came from, you're one regulator's ques…
Why Nvidia's $13B Deal for Hugging Face Was Never About Revenue
Nvidia just paid almost $13 billion for a company with $150 million in revenue. That math only makes sense once you stop thinking about revenue.
Every big AI acquisition headline feels urgent, but figuring out whether it changes anything about your data stack or your vendor risk is another matter…
How Standardized Cell Labeling Could Fix Biotech's Data Problem
Flow cytometry can find a cell population in seconds, but naming it consistently across labs is a problem still unsolved.
If you've ever tried to compare cytometry data across studies, CROs, or even two scientists in the same lab, you know the frustration: everyone gates their own way, and the sa…
Will Agentic Analytics Help You Shrink Your Data Team?
Your CEO saw the agentic analytics demo. Now someone has to make it work.
Leadership wants an AI agent answering every data question, and the CFO is already counting the analyst headcount it will save. You're the one who has to explain what the demo left out.
Ross Katz, Principal and Data Scien…
