► Why & how did you start this podcast?
Dee loves podcasts, one day she decided it would be fun to start a podcast based on conversations with Alicja.
We wanted to share our thoughts and conversations with others to share our love of tea as well as interiors and holistic wellness for the home.
We started our podcast on April 15, 2021
It took 1 week to release our very first episode. We just recorded, I attempted to edit and just released the episode. I was eager to get started.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
Each episode is released every Thursday. It takes anywhere from 3 days to a week.
We record each episode on Sunday when we are both free. I then edit each podcast usually Wednesday night just hours before the release on Thursday. It was rough for a while because I (Dee) had no idea what I was doing. It would take me hours to edit the podcast and do the podcast outline. Podcasting takes dedication and it is not as easy as it seems. I had to force myself at times.
We use Anchor as our podcast host platform so we don't pay for hosting but we do pay for the website hosting and domain name. I have paid for editing in the past when I was swamped with time. However, I must say that we spend more than we make. This is a true passion project. I have not spent any money to market the podcast.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
Currently, our only sponsor is Anchor. We are happy to accept sponsors that align with our values. We prefer to promote products and services that we use and enjoy.
Podcasting has allowed us to connect with the podcasting community which is very supportive.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
We started out using the anchor app, then we started to record through zoom to have the video for future use. I use descript to edit and garage band to add the music and create more segments.
We use Audry.io to connect with other possible podcast guests.
We prepare for each episode by having conversations and the topics come organically.
► How do you market your show?
Most of our listeners now come from Apple podcasts. We use Instagram as well as keywords to be found by our ideal listeners.
We also use word of mouth. I don't have alot of time to use social media. We are thinking of moving to tic toc.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
I would suggest reading, "So you want to start a podcast" as well as knowing the format you wish to use for your podcast. I learned that podcasting takes time and patience as well as a team to handle different aspects of the podcast. Utilize resources available for podcasters like Listen Notes and Facebook groups that support podcasters to learn tips and tricks from experienced podcasters.
