Neena says that encountering many challenges has made her the woman she is today, determined, strong and full of faith in God.
She has started her own YouTube / Podcast called Straight Talk No Sugar Added, to impact others using her story and the story of other people that have overcome. The Goal is to encourage, support, love and lead people to be their best selves by challenging and transforming their thinking
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
To impact others using my story and the story of other people that have overcome in life and business. The Goal is to encourage, support, love and lead people to be their best selves by challenging and transforming their thinking
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I was dedicated to impact in the world one person at a time. Even though I work a full-time job I make it my business to make sure I put out in the world inspirational and impacting stories. I released an episode 2 to 3 times a week. I do a live on Mondays, and the podcast episodes are released on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
I fund the podcast myself. I pay my monthly hosting fees. I have paid for and I continually pay for whatever I need to in order to gain more visibility and impact. When you are dedicated to showing others that they can move forward in their life, despite the circumstances you find a time wherever you can and you focus.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
I currently do not have any sponsorships. I have literally just been focusing on content and quality of content. A little bit over 1000 downloads a month. And hopefully that will grow as people see the value that I'm bringing to the airways.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
Right now I am using stream yard to record the video and the audio for the podcast, I uploaded myself onto YouTube and create all of the thumbnails on canvas. To interview guest I use stream yard. I feel like it's just a one stop shop and works well what I am doing currently. I do a Calendar link with questions to see if they are a good fit for the show, but I do not prepare any questions ahead of the actual recording because I feel that the conversation should be natural. I try to do everything in one take so I don't have to edit.
► How do you market your show?
I use a lot of different ways to market the show, like short clips, on social media being the biggest, some emails, and the listener breakdown that I have is 60% female and 40% male.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Just start! You are never going to be perfect when you first begin but you will figure it out as you go. Invest some time and maybe some money on somebody who's been doing it a little bit longer than you and can give you some great tips. But honestly you just need to start nobody is perfect in the beginning he will start to perfect your craft as you go.
