► Tell us about you and your podcast
My name is Robert Hanna. I’m an expert in legal careers and content creation. I’m active CEO & Founder of a variety of business ventures, a mentor, investor, board advisor and public speaker for notable organisations within the global legal industry. Through our podcast I wish to help raise awareness around Mental Health and Diversity & Inclusion in the global workplace. I am on a mission to reduce the stigmas connected to my profession of recruitment, through which I have built teams and amassed millions of pounds in sales.
Name of Podcast: Legally Speaking Podcast.
Our listeners are lawyers, aspiring lawyers, those involved in the legal industry or people simply wanting to know more about the world of law. We provide a range of unique and accessible insights from a variety of incredible guests.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I do listen to podcasts. I find them fun and informative and great way to unwind. We wanted to add move value to our legal community on top of our traditional legal recruitment services through launching the Legally Speaking Podcast. We found podcasting a great way to regularly educate & entertain our audiences on a wide range of topics ranging from cutting edge legal careers advice through to the latest advancements in legal technology within the industry. Plus we wanted to tackle important topics and help raise awareness within the industry around mental health, diversity & inclusion, social mobility and the importance of mentorship. We wanted to build a long term loyal community and give ourselves a point of difference to lots of our legal recruitment competitors in the marketplace sticking to very traditional methods of communicating and engaging with their audiences. The podcast was launched in November 2019 and it took us a month or so to get going. We did research into suitable names, careful planned our guest schedules, acquired the right equipment and got set up on all the audio platforms and social media channels. We wanted to have the best infrastructure and plan of attack in place to ensure we had a powerful launch. Which we did, our first episode remains our most downloaded to date!
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
We release episodes every week and miniseries once a month too. I ensure I make the time within my day job, content creation in any format is good and important for business. It is the best way to build a community and drive engagement. Increased visibility leads to lots of conversations and brand awareness which again is good for business. We do fund the podcasts ourselves and supported by an in-house producer, outsourced editor and number of influential brand ambassadors with impressive social media profiles to help promote the show too. With all the time and costs allocated we spend around £1000 per month for podcasting.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
Off the back of the success of our first 3 Seasons of the Legally Speaking Podcast we do now get a number of sponsorship approaches. This is something we are in direct talks about at this stage so watch this space :). Podcasting benefits us in a number of ways in terms of expanding our global networks, educating us on important topics, repurposing content opportunities for marketing purposes, useful business strategies for B2B & B2C engagements. Plus it is also a lot of FUN!
► How does your podcasting process look like?
We use Riverside FM to record our podcasts as we have found this mitigates any issues with the local file recording options on peoples devices. We find guests through our networks and approach guests who have a good story to share and those who can add value to our community on specialist topics. We prepare a script for each guest, we research their background, experience and achievements beforehand to ensure we really shine the light on our guests and bring the best out of them. We interview our guests in person when we are legally allowed too given the situation with COVID and via Riveside FM as mentioned before.
► How do you market your show?
We are on all the major podcast platforms e.g. Apple, Spotify, Google and lots of others. We have a weekly email newsletter and promote our shows across our various social media handles see link: linktr.ee/legallyspeakingpodcast
