► Tell us about you and your podcast
I'm a retired minister who's made the switch to online entrepreneur - and it's been made possible in a round-about way because of my podcasting. I have 4 shows now:
- Christian Home and Family
- Morning Mindset Christian Daily Devotional
- LIVE - BUILD - CHANGE |Integrating Christian Faith and Successful Business to Change the World
- Podcastification - podcasting tips, podcast tricks, how to podcast better
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I began Christian Home and Family first - I'd retired from pastoral ministry but still had a lot to say regarding Christian family and home life. I had radio experience so a podcast was the way to go. That morphed into more podcast endeavors as well as a podcast production and show notes business that is my primary income these days.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
The funding was not an issue - it's a minimal cost to get started. Time, I did my show in the evenings - from 8PM to 1 AM typically. That's when I first started, keeping my 9 to 5 job in place at the same time.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
Podcasting has led me into podcast production, which is my main source of revenue. Our company now grosses over double six figures each year. I have NO sponsorships on any of my podcasts. I've met a tremendous amount of amazing people through my podcast efforts.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I use an ATR 2005 microphone - Audacity editing software - Libsyn for media hosting - Auphonic for post-production tweaks. I prepare a bullet point list of topic ideas in Trello, record episodes I've selected out of that list, then create show notes. I typically connect with any guests using Cleanfeed.net or Zencastr.com.
► How do you market your show?
All of my shows are in all of the major directories. I promote primarily on social media though I'm exploring other options.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Create a content map first to see if you have enough to say about your topic of interest. Do you know enough people to invite on as guests - OR are you willing to reach out to those who could be guests?
