► Tell us about you and your podcast
I'm Ademola Odewade, ACA, MBA — a finance professional, entrepreneur, and passionate storyteller. I’m the founder and host of The King Dems Podcast, where we explore inspiring stories of resilience, success, and transformational leadership across finance, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and beyond. The podcast creates a platform where both rising and established leaders share the real stories behind their journeys, challenges, and victories.
Our listeners are ambitious professionals, entrepreneurs, creatives, and lifelong learners from all over the world who seek inspiration, practical advice, and a global perspective on navigating life and careers with excellence and authenticity.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I started The King Dems Podcast in November 2023 because I believe that stories have the power to change lives. While I’ve always been an avid podcast listener, I noticed a gap in content that combined real-life success journeys with actionable insights, particularly from diverse voices across industries and cultures.
Inspired by podcasting icons like Joe Rogan and Steven Bartlett (Diary of a CEO), my goal was to create a platform that empowers, educates and entertains.
It took about nine months from the idea stage to releasing our very first episode — a journey of learning, experimenting, and refining our voice.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
Balancing a full-time career and launching a podcast was definitely a challenge, but one I embraced. I dedicated evenings and weekends to recording, editing, and growing the show. Consistency became key — I committed to a production schedule that fit around my professional obligations without compromising on quality.
In terms of funding, I initially bootstrapped the podcast, investing in essential equipment to ensure a professional sound and look from day one. Over time, I introduced guest appearance packages to support marketing and production costs, and I'm building a sponsorship funnel to collaborate with brands that align with our mission.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
Podcasting has opened so many doors for me. It’s expanded my professional network, sharpened my communication skills, and allowed me to form authentic relationships with inspiring people worldwide. It’s also helped strengthen my personal brand as a thought leader in finance, entrepreneurship, and leadership conversations.
We’ve started developing sponsorship opportunities as well. Guest appearance packages help fund marketing efforts, and as our audience grows, we are preparing for partnerships with brands that share our values. Podcasting has been a deeply rewarding personal and professional experience.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I record all episodes virtually using Riverside FM. I use a high-quality Rode microphone, Jabra headset, Logitech MX Brio 4K webcam, and a Microsoft laptop to deliver premium audio and video quality.
Preparation starts with thorough research and custom question creation to ensure natural, high-value conversations. I like to maintain a structured yet free-flowing vibe, allowing guests' personalities and stories to shine.
► How do you market your show?
Our main platform is YouTube, where we aim to build a strong visual and community-driven presence.
We also distribute episodes across Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Rumble, and Amazon Podcasts to reach a broad and diverse audience.
Social media marketing via Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok — plus cross-promotion with guests and collaborations — has helped us grow organically. LinkedIn has been particularly powerful for professional audience engagement.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Start with clarity on your purpose and don’t let perfection delay your launch — you'll learn and improve along the way.
Consistency is more important than going viral. Focus on building a loyal community first.
Helpful resources that supported my journey include PodMatch and the YouTube Creator Community. Watching how giants like Joe Rogan and Steven Bartlett structure conversations also taught me the importance of authenticity over polish.
