► Tell us about you and your podcast
My name is Doug Miles. "Book Talk" interviews with authors of the newest books available. We have a wide demographic - M/W 25-64.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I began the podcast in 2008 and post 2 to 3 episodes per week. It is an extension of the talk radio show I hosted in the Tampa Bay area for several years.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I record the interviews and edit on the laptop. The show takes approx. 30 minutes to produce. I have used "google ad sense", as well as other advertising.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
I enjoy broadcasting and interviewing. I'm open to sponsorship provided it is a product or service that is respectable and fits in with the format. We see approx. 10K downloads per month on my website. It is also posted on other platforms.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
Sound Forge audio editing software. I have several different publicity firms that send me information on available authors. I contact them to set up phone interviews with the author. I usually get a book to read beforehand.
► How do you market your show?
Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter posts to promote.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Treat each podcast like you are doing it live. Make it sound like a radio broadcast and conversational.
