► Tell us about you and your podcast
Interviewed by Kervon Henry A.K.A. Ded or King, 3 Idiots answer questions that I pose that no one asked for.
We may or may not be "Kinda Sober".
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I started this podcast because I have a few friends that laugh and talk about all the dumbest things. We have hours of meaningless conversations that make you hold your sides from laughing. I listen to a few podcast, primarily DnD podcast that are funny and conversational. I started my podcast in august of 2020, in the middle of Covid, with the goal of making a place where people can go to feel apart of a group. It took me maybe a month to release the first episode actually...a lot of learning.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I stream the podcast live on twitch.tv/ded_king every other Tuesday and then break up the audio and release the edited audio once a week.
I didn't spend too much on my podcast as i already had a large portion of for streaming. The mic I use is a Blue Yeti, it is very middle of the road in terms of mics and is very versatile.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
Thus far podcasting has been more of a hobby than a source of income. It is something that fills my time and makes me happy. It sounds like a very simplistic answer but I want to make people smile, that's it.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I actually edit my audio in adobe premiere . It is a weird way of going about it but I use the video from my live stream and edit that. It allows me to physically see when either I or someone i interview leans back. The people I have interviewed thus far are people that I know from my time streaming, which I still do, that are in my discord. Preparing for the episode still requires a bit of fine tuning but I usually take time each days to write a bit down. A funny thing I heard here, a story i remember there, a weird question that i thought about high up there somewhere. It all comes together pretty slow but you can at least work with it.
► How do you market your show?
Kinda Sober is on 8 different platforms including, Anchor, Breaker, Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts, RadioPublic, and Spotify.
I've actually found that person to person interactions have allowed my listener count to raise slow and steady. Sticker campaigns and using every opportunity to talk about your work.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
If you can talk about it for 2 hours full drunk in a bar just as easy as you can talk about it after a full nights sleep, podcast it. Someone somewhere is going to want exactly YOUR take on something. I started by using Anchor, it allowed me to distribute to quite a few places pretty fast.
