► Tell us about you and your podcast
As a CEO, sales and marketing veteran, single mom and now homeschool headmistress, Marie Hale has been through the wringer more than once. This time, she funneled her anger into not just a new business, but a new business model. In the last months of 2020, Marie did her mad-scientist entrepreneur thing and founded fwd@revolution for women and others who have been disenfranchised by corporate America. But she’s not done rattling cages yet--this visionary is seeking out our country’s brightest feminist thinkers, leaders, and doers across all disciplines for some real talk on what needs to change--now.
We interview people with differing views on feminism, diversity, equity, and generally stir shit up! Our listeners range from CEOs and business owners to those looking to take control of their lives and change the way that work works.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I am a podcast junkie. When we founded our nonprofit, we were plenty miffed and had a lot to say, but we also wanted to listen and grow with our audience. We started our podcast in April of 2021 and, luckily I own a marketing company so we were able to get out there quickly and start building the love!
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
We strive to release an episode every two weeks because no matter how much talent you have at your fingertips, none of them have magic powers (dang!). Because my day job is two fold, running my sales and marketing firm and running our nonprofit, this is something that I prioritize and build into my weeks. We spend on average $230 per podcast including my time and other resources.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
This podcast has opened my mind and my heart. I have made friends all over the world that I know I could call any time and they would be there to help me navigate this bizarre new life. We also hear back from our listeners often, many of them saying that the openness, vulnerability, and humor in the show have touched them or moved them into action.
We are taking sponsorships and just started this month! https://www.fwdrevolution.com/sponsors/
► How does your podcasting process look like?
We use Streamyard to film and record, do minor editing in iMovie and use Canva for all design needs. Podetize is where we host and distribute and it has been a god send! Our guests come from a number of places, but mostly personal connections and incredible leaders that we just reach out to old-fashioned like- on the phone!
► How do you market your show?
We are on all listening channels and 59.6% of our listeners come from directories, 36.4% come from google. We utilize the live broadcasting features on Streamyard on FB, LI, Twitter and Youtube and it has helped our numbers tremendously.
We also require cross-promotion from our guests and provide them all of the assets they will need and check back in with them.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
It will take more time in the editing room than you think. Tools like Streamyard will help you take care of most of your production live for videos, but have a bomb video editor!
The education in Podetize was a lifesaver!
