► Tell us about you and your podcast
My name is Dennis Cruz born and raised in Utah. My father was in the US Army as a military mechanic and mother worked various private sector jobs. I was born in Colorado on an Army base but raised in Utah at an early age. I am the youngest of (3) currently 39 years old....never married and have 1 daughter who is 20. I received my GED after a short stint with Job Corps and attended a local tech college and Weber State University for a tech degree. Worked in sales most of my life and more recently in the tech department as a sales engineer and recently found my calling as a full time podcaster. My podcast is about bringing everyday people together to share experiences, different point of views & perspective for clarity & entertainment related to various conversation points on love. My listeners span 17 different Countries currently so growing at a great rate.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I decided to podcast because after 39 years on this planet I have learned a lot through my own experiences and observations from people close to me through the years. Wisdom is great to share and they say knowledge is power. My motivation was creating a positive environment to counter the world climate that seems to be full of chaos, hate and destruction. Hoping to be a beacon of light through the darkness. I started my podcast in January of this year after having thoughts and working on things in the background several months leading up to my first episode release. It took me about 3 months from initial thoughts to execution of 1st episode.

► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I usually release (2) episodes a week on average. I might have some weeks where I only release an episode but for the most part plan for (2) a week on average. Usually release on Monday & Tuesday sometimes Wednesday at 9am EST. I recently separated from my day job and now doing podcasting full time and it has been great. I currently fund the podcast myself but working on sponsorships and revenue to help improve quality and hopefully provide another revenue avenue.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
Most valuable things gained is the knowledge from hearing from my guests when we talks about the various topics. I am always trying to improve and have been learning a ton a long the way. Still working on sponsorships. Currently only have Anchor as a sponsor. I am first reaching out to my inner circle then will do an email blast out to companies and play the numbers game. Podcasting does benefit me as it has been therapeutic and informative.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I use Anchor to publish, social media to market, Canva to create thumbnail artwork and calendly for scheduling. I have reached out to people I know and luckily I have quite a few interesting people in my network. I will create a episode topic and then create a word document that outlines the episode structure, conversation topic and points and will provide my guest with the document ahead of recording. I interview the guest over my phone using Anchor so remote recording. No YouTube video yet but soon
► How do you market your show?
I have marketed via social media and website created. 30% Anchor, 26% Spotify, 10% Apple Podcasts, 5% Overcast, 29% other. So far social media has been a great start but currently looking into other avenues like creating a tiktok channel
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Consistency is key and constantly evaluate what you are doing to improve and add content to make users wanting to come back. Make sure the conversations stay focused on the topic and try to schedule individuals that are interesting. Makes the conversation and context much more interesting. Anchor is great as far as publisher, Calendly for scheduling and Canva for a cheap easy method to design thumbnail artwork. Also pod decks are a nice touch to an episode.
