► Tell us about you and your podcast
My background sits in the Photography and Creative Industry, being originally from Spain, I am making my living and now my Podcast in Germany.
"The Creativ Cast" was born out of the percieved need for, specially younger people, to connect and learn from collegues in their fields. And their hunger for tools on how to manage life.
I am driven by the believe that there is creativity within all of us, that can make an impact on others. My audience being everyone who is open for new ideas and perspectives and genuinely interested in other peoples experiences.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I started my Podcast in February 2021, the date wasnt too relevant, that was just the time I was ready and prepared to launch it. Honestly, it took me about the better part of 2 years to start it, many factors played into this as in equipmemnt, the physical space to do it, overcoming fear, the knowledge and so on.
My current goal for The Creativ Cast is to be consistent and persistant for at least 1 year, regardless of the amount of people that listen to it.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I produce 1 episode a week, every time with a new guest. The amount of time this requires for me to do, without taking into account all the social material that I produce from it, I would say it takes me around 6 hours to produce a single episode from start to finish (on average).
I happen to find myself in the situation where I put about 20 hours a week into my podcast, when you include all the social and promotional material aswell. All of this obviously assuming you do it on your own.
And yes, I work in a full time job while I do this, so it gets a bit intense overall.
I happen to fund this project in form of a Podcast completely by myself, where you can expect an investment of about 50-100€ a month in Software, Hosting and Subscriptions that will always be there.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
I am currently not considering any sort of sponsorship as I am quite new to the game, and accordingly quite small audiencewise. Which might become an option in the future.
Podcasting benefits me purely with the joy of doing it, as it combines all these great aspects that I am so passionate about, like photography, videography, communication, sound design and sharing ideas, providing value to other people, creating a powerfull network.
Which are the reasons for me to have started this in the first place.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I use mainly Adobe software, like Audition, Photoshop and Premiere.
I have started with interviewing friend basically, and after that I will start reaching out to people I dont know personally, whose work and projects I find interesting to share, through their socials. (Sometimes you just need to ask, and you will be surprised how open they are to be on your show).
I interview my guest if possible in person, if not I use Zoom.
Preparation is key, but I feel like this is quite unique to everyone in its execution.
► How do you market your show?
I have my podast online on all majot platforms, as thats how it is recommended, having my main audience on Spotify (roughly 90%).
Marketing it mainly on Instagram and Youtube.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
For me starting was the part, for sure. One thing I have learned for sure is that the equipment you need is the one you have, and the best time to start your podcast (If you are convinced you want to start one and you are serious about it) is now.
And yes, it is a lot of work, and yes it will cost you. It doesnt need to be expensive, but it aint for free.
I learned a ton on youtube and blogs of podcast hosting sites, I figure there you will be able to find everything you need to know. You wont find answers to everything as that comes only with experience, but it will get you there.
