► Tell us about you and your podcast
I go by the name D.S.O. It stands for "Dad Starting Over".
The podcast is called "Dad Starting Over".
My podcast is for men that find themselves "starting over" in life, either post-divorce/breakup or trying to hit the reset button on themselves while still married.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
Approximately eight years ago I discovered my ex-wife's infidelity and we quickly divorced. My entire world was turned upside-down. Three kids most of the time. No wife. As a form of therapy, I started writing on the topic of relationships. I was quick to learn that I was not alone. I eventually started my own website and now this podcast. I started my website, dadstartingover.com approximately five years ago and started podcasting in 2018. I have since written three books, with the most popular being "The Dead Bedroom Fix" which is often in the top 10 in its category in Audible.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I do episodes as time allows. The podcast is a small but important part of Dad Starting Over.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
No sponsors yet (I am open to the idea, though). Podcasting has helped me a great deal with speaking and allows me to get my message out to a large number of people very quickly.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I am soon to upgrade to real XLR mics and a mixer, but for now I use one Blue Yeti mic, Audacity and Zoom for interviews.
► How do you market your show?
The biggest driver of traffic to my website (and subsequently the podcast) is my book, The Dead Bedroom Fix.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Do it right. Learn the equipment. Learn broadcasting and speaking technique. Listen to a lot of podcasts. Steal ideas.
