► Tell us about you and your podcast
My name is Sean Vaillancourt, I am currently employed in the Royal Canadian Navy and my Co-host is Brad Tesch.
Our show is called GuysBeerSports and we are located in two different countries and coasts. I am in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Brad is in Oak Harbor, Washington. We cover what is going on in the world of sports as well as our own stories of how we came into our sports fandom. We do this while drinking a local beer from our area.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
We decided to start a podcast to just have fun and share our stories about sports, it has since become very exciting to see our little hobby grow.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
We release episodes weekly and we record on weekends because we both have day jobs. We are currently sponsored by Flyers restaurant and brewery, but they supply us with social media posts and beer. We pay for our hosting site, zoom and whatever marketing we feel we can afford. I would say that we spend around 60 dollars a month, split between the two of us, it s not that bad.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
We are still pretty new to this podcast thing, we have no paying sponsors as of yet, but I see us steadily growing which gives me hope that we are not that far off.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
We utilize zoom, since we are on two different coasts, video maker software, audacity for our audio and buzzsprout as our host. We just reach out to people to be on the show plus we have some very interesting friends as well. We pretty much just go off the cuff. Editing can take a while because of this but it sure is fun.
► How do you market your show?
iTunes, Spotify buzzsprout pretty much handles all of that. We market through Facebook, instagram and Tik Tok. I would say that 50% of our audience comes from apple.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Have fun, read on how to launch your podcast properly, Pat Flynn has some excellent advice and just have fun.
► Where can we learn more about you & your podcasts?
guysbeersports.com is our website and from there you can get our YouTube channel, Facebook and Instagram.
