► Tell us about you and your podcast
Mary and Kylie are a mother/daughter duo who chat about a true crime case while enjoying a glass of wine or a cocktail! Our listeners are fans of true crime who enjoy a good story while enjoying a motivational beverage of choice. We welcome beverage recommendations as well as recommending beverages before our true crime story. We also enjoy sprinkling a movie quote or two while telling the story. We take turns and cover one case per episode and that victim always has a convicted murderer who had snapped committing the murder.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
Mary and Kylie listen to podcasts and are fans of true crime podcasts. We just thought it would be fun to start one of our own. Since we live 1200 miles apart, we thought this would be a great way to FaceTime once a week. We began our podcast the first week of August, 2021. It took two weeks to release our first episode because we wanted to launch at the beginning of the month.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
Sipping with Snapped releases a new episode every wine Wednesday! It takes a day or two to produce an episode. Mary does not currently have a "day job," so she does all the editing and uploading. We fund this adventure with babysitting money.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
If we ever actually start making money from this endeavor, we will gladly donate to solving cold cases (ex: End the Backlog, Jane Doe organizations, Genetic Genealogy etc). Our first sponsorship came from Mary's husband, so actually... we are waiting on our first sponsorship.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
Kylie uses a Blue Snowball microphone, boom arm and Audacity software to record our discussion. Mary uses a Toner microphone, boom arm and Garage Band software. Kylie emails her recording to Mary who syncs it up, adds the intro, outdo music and middle tones then saves it to her desktop. Afterwards, she schedules the release. We have not interviewed anyone yet, but we are thinking about doing so in December.
► How do you market your show?
We market on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, our website as well as on other podcasts. Instagram seems to be the most useful.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Don't bump the mic! And try to limit the background noises, they are difficult to edit out and annoying to the listener. Have fun with your podcast and do it for yourself. Do not assume anyone will listen except for your mom.
