► Tell us about you and your podcast
Cristian Noriega is a puertorrican writer and novelist. Olvidando a Verónica (OAV) ''Forgetting Verónica'' is his first novela narrated in Podcast. It tells the story of Veronica Salazar, a young photograph woman that hides a terrible secret from her fiance Martin Boyal, an important hotel owner in the Caribbean. Verónica will hide her secret trying to not make Martin suffer, finding herself trapped in her own lies and becoming slowly in the villain of her story. Veronica will do anything and everything to cover the truth and will turn her relationship in a circle of mystery and betray. Would Martin overcome the ghost of Verónica?
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
For years I tried to sell my stories to important TV producers like Univision or Telemundo. The business is hard to enter and I found myself not having the opportunity to produce my telenovelas. So that was the point when I decided to produce them by myself. It was a challenge! It is still a challenge, but I did it and no regrets so far. I have not failed publishing a single episode every Friday since February 2021.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I wrote the story in 2016-2017. To make a chapter into a podcast episode it takes me a week. I usually edit the original chapter in two days, record the episode in 1 day, and two days to edit it with music and sound effects. Every new episode its released on Fridays. My fans call them ''Viernes de Verónica'' (Friday of Verónica) So far we are in Season 3, and we have had breaks of 4-5 months between each season. Every season has between 17-22 episodes.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
I don't have any sponsorship yet. I'm open to network and get discovered in this industry. I know so far, Latinoamerica and USA listens to my show. Puerto Rico, México, Chile, Argentina, Spain and US my top countries. So grateful for my Spanish audience.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I use my iPhone, a very quiet space in my room, some furniture and Verónica is ready to be heard!
► How do you market your show?
I market the show weekly in my social media accounts. Instagram, Facebook, Linked In... I know Spotify is where the show is most listened through with a 77%.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Consistency is the clue. I see some shows or pod-casters with great ideas, concepts or quality equipment, but they fail to release weekly. I think your audience will grow based in your commitment to your own work and having known for sure that there will be a new episode every week, two weeks, etc.
