Tracy Bingaman is a multi-passionate mom on a quest to inspire and educate her fellow working moms. Now she teaches working moms to pay off debt and build financial independence for themselves and their families.
She is a married mom to 5 who loves her dogs and her husband fiercely! You can find her chasing her kids and her dreams, skiing, reading fiction books and enjoying a good glass of red wine.
Tracy’s passion project is Fulfilled - The Podcast, where she offers practical advice, inspiration and education for working moms.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
As a lover and longtime listener to podcasts, I love the way that podcasts can bring an expert, author, teacher or friend into your speakers or headphones. They are FREE and that increases access to some of the worlds best teachers and thought leaders right into your smartphone. I love teaching and sharing and enriching the lives of working moms with information, practical tips and quick wins.
I wanted to speak life into the busy lives of working moms. I have this big dream of a world where working moms are empowered to create lives where they are cared for, fulfilled, energized and inspired, because empowered moms can change the world!
My show: Fulfilled - The Podcast launched in October of 2020. I had dreamt of creating a show for years, but once I decided to do it, it took about 6 months to get everything in place to release the very first episode. We are preparing to publish episode 52 this week!
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
Fulfilled - The Podcast releases weekly on Thursday with BONUS episodes on some Sundays. We spend about 2 hours between the writing, polishing, setting up interviews, recording, producing and publishing a 30-60 minute show once per week. I am the host and interviewer and the solo shows feature yours truly. My husband has a background in tech and he does the behind the scenes editing to make everything pretty and polished. My teenage son even did the drum audio for the intro and outro!
I have a full time job, 5 kids, 2 dogs, a business and a marriage that are all so important to me, but so is podcasting. I record several episodes on the weekend or my one day off per week. I write the content in early morning before my kids get up or over lunch break and I'm always jotting down notes for ideas for future shows on post its or in the voice memos of my phone while driving.
We spend about $25/month for hosting, editing, marketing the show. The podcast is funded independently by myself and our business of financial coaching.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
We don't have sponsors (yet) but hope to after experiencing some more growth.
We gain trust and invested listeners who go on to be fans and customers of our money coaching, courses and products designed for busy working moms to get control of their money and gain financial independence.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
We use Zencastr to record, Audacity to edit, Libsyn to house the show and publish.
I typically find guests to interview on social media or from referrals from friends, former guests, or influencers/authors who turn down my pitch to be interviewed.
Interview episodes: I research my guest, listen to other interviews they've done, read their bio or any books or materials they've created. I try to think of unique questions they haven't been asked that will be applicable to my listenership.
We do interviews with Zencastr with the video feature - recording the audio and using the video purely for chatting!
► How do you market your show?
A lot of our growth is organic, I do share about my show on my email list, my social media channels and people find by searching. We don't currently have a breakdown of listener acquisition sources.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
JUST DO IT! Learn as you go, fail forward, start creating, don't be paralyzed by fear. If I can do this, YOU can do this!
I loved Jenna Kutcher's The Podcast Lab - it helped me know exactly what I needed to do to create the show and helped me from wandering around and actually to record and publish my show!
