► Tell us about you and your podcast
Motherhood Unstressed is a weekly series of conversations and meditations addressing parenting, stress, mindfulness, and self-love. Each week I interview experts that will leave you feeling more empowered to take on the demands of parenting and life.
In reality, Motherhood Unstressed expands beyond the show, it's a global community of mindful, purpose-driven people looking to grow and create a positive ripple effect at home and in the world.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
Before launching Motherhood Unstressed I had been an avid listener of other podcasts. I loved how I could be working out, cleaning or driving and actively learning something new. The interest in podcasting was something that I knew would catch on because podcasts uniquely respect the listener's time, and bring incredible value.
I started my podcast in 2018 with the desire to speak to inspiring individuals who had something meaningful to share. With every conversation I had, I grew, and to be able to scale that evolutionary experience to people all over the world has been life-changing.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I release two episodes a week: one interview and one guided meditation. Time spent preparing, conducting, editing and promoting the show is typically 5 hours a week. I spend very little for my subscriptions to Zoom and Libsyn, I think that's what makes podcasting so accessible. Initially I funded everything myself, but now the show earns revenue.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
After one year I began working with sponsors, initially earning around $50/episode. Now I am fortunate to work with companies that source sponsors for me, like Ossa Collective, and I also have brands reach out directly. The podcast has absolutely changed my life, every guest has expanded my view of the world, and solidified my respect for the magic of the Universe.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I have used Garage Band for editing, Zoom for conducting interviews, and Libsyn for hosting from the very beginning. I love how easy to use each tool is, and even though I've tried other brands I always come back to these.
To prepare for a guest interview I spend time researching their work on Youtube, on their website and read any of their published work. When PR reaches out on the behalf of a potential guest, they often provide a convenient one sheet that contains a myriad of pertinent information.
For my guided meditations, I mediate beforehand so that I can lead from a place of groundedness, authenticity, and calm.
► How do you market your show?
I market my show through all major social media platforms. I am most active on Instagram so that's really where most of my listeners find out about the show, but it's never a bad idea to cover your bases on other platforms - you never know who may come across your work!
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
My advice is to become very clear on your why. Why do you want to spend countless hours preparing, interviewing, editing and promoting your show? What kind of impact do you want to leave with your listener? Who even is your listener? When you get clear on why you're taking this on, you will never be disappointed (even on the tough days) and your audience will feel your passion.
