Jim and Quinn Jupiter are the hosts, brothers from the planet Jupiter. The Jupiter Boys is two brothers sitting down each week to discuss the issues that matter. Each brother brings a topic and we riff on each for ten minutes. And we have orange slices in the middle.
Our listeners are mainly extraterrestrial, but our human listeners tend to be young, bored people who are hip to our jive.
We started this podcast back in 2015. It took us way too long to release our first episode. We actually recorded it about 5 or 6 times but kept losing it to computer issues.
We record and release an episode once a week. It takes us about 30 minutes to record and another 40-60 mins to edit. We meet up once a week after work and I tend to edit the episode Saturday morning.
We pay a monthly fee to host our podcast, but our gear and editing software has been cobbled together over the years.
We do offer advertisers the ability to advertise on our show. Our first ad buy was back when we had only a couple hundred episodes per month.
Podcasting is a great way for Quinn and Jim to talk every week. It's a good excuse to get together and chat.
We use 2 Neewer NW-700 mics with an Alesis MultiMix 8 mixing board and then we do all the editing goodness in GarageBand.
We don't really interview guests on our show, but we've appeared on great shows like Random Ramblings with Rob and Little Geek Lost.
We generally go into each episode unprepared except for our own topics. We've only ever been interviewed by Skype. We have to keep our anonymity because of our heavy involvement in the Jupiturd Rebellion.
Listeners can find us on iTunes, Stitcher, PocketCasts, Podbean... basically everywhere. Our twitter (@thejupiterboys) is by far our most active social media stream.
One thing we learned was not to take ourselves too seriously. We basically don't try at all anymore.
