My podcast is an automotive based podcast. My friend Brandon co-hosts the podcast with me. We talk about cars and sometimes whatever is on our mind. We interview numerous people in the industry. We also go to car shows and talk about those events on the podcast.
My initial goals were to just talk about cars and have fun. I enjoy listening to podcasts and I love cars, so I decided to start one. We started the podcast at the end of March. It took a few weeks to release our first episodes.
We usually release an episode once a week. Sometimes twice a week. The actual episode is usually an hour or a little over. Then the editing takes maybe a half hour or so. We do it on Sundays. I have a little over $2000 invested including equipment. Yes, it all came out of my pocket.
Right now I have no sponsors. I hope to at some point. We average 100 downloads a day right now. It's a lot of fun and I get to talk to cool car people and learn stuff.
I use audio-technica mics, a Yamaha mixer, a Zoom h6 recorder, and Audacity for editing. I usually message people on Instagram or email them. Research a little bit or just on the fly which actually works well for us. We record both in-person and through Skype.
ITunes, Google, Stitcher, IHeart radio, tune in, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, the usual. Most of our listener base is from iTunes.
I learned about sound and I learned how to interview people. I learned how to use social media more effectively. Blogs, books, videos, and other podcasts are great resources and highly suggested.
