►Tell us about you and your podcast
Kate Ouellette-Cretsinger. My podcast is called K8 4 Wellness Podcast where I talk everything nutrition, health, fitness and wellness. My listeners are people that are serious about getting healthy, they are people that are tired of being sick, they are also athletes that want to increase their performance.
►Why & how did you start this podcast?
I started my podcast to reach people that have tried everything out there to reach their health goals and have not been able to find what works. My motivation for doing a podcast is/was to touch as many people as I can to let them know they have more control over their health than they are led to believe. I want to give them that confidence to know that they CAN get better! My podcast started in May of 2018, really new! It took me 8 months to start recording, then when I had everything set up, it took 2 weeks to release my first episode.
►How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I do it free of charge (except for my time!) I fund it myself. I love to educate people so this was a no brainer. I release a new episode every week. I recorded 8 episodes ahead of time to get a head start. I have a day time job as a nutrition coach so whenever I have an hour to myself I am recording!!
►What do you gain from podcasting?
I gain the experience on how to educate my followers and I get clients. I also listen to fellow podcasters to learn as well! I don't make any revenue off the podcast and I don't take sponsorship.
►How does your podcasting process look like?
I use Libsyn for my podcasts. I started interviewing my clients and what it was/is like working with me and the experience they have had as well as results. These will start airing soon! I will also start interviewing practitioners in my networking group to educate my listeners on other modalities for healing. It takes a team (community) to heal. I prepare a day or two a head of time by sitting with their charts and making notes on what I feel the listeners can relate to, as to help them and see that they can get past the challenges they face. I interview in person as well as Zoom. My clients are all over the United States and Canada.
►How do you market your show?
I use Facebook and Instagram for advertising my podcasts. I dont have a break down yet of my listeners from iTunes. I haven't played with that yet! I find both Facebook and Instagram to be pretty helpful I don't see one more so than the other as of right now.
►What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
I say start now.. don't wait! My podcasts are getting better as they go, I learn what works and what doesn't along the way and I think that is cool for everyone to see. I googled podcasting 101 and got my information from there and it worked! Im loving the journey and Im excited to see where it takes me.
