► Tell us about you and your podcast
My name is Eddo Dadyka. This podcast is a series of interviews between me and my son, Senna. He is 4 years old, this is his first episode. We talk about anything, explore a topic from the perspective of a 4-year-old child. Our audience is probably every interested parent and/or person in general who wants to hear the opinion of a small child.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I started this podcast around February 2020. During the Corona pandemic. When we all work at home. I see that our activities as a family must have documentation, especially for my child. As a 4-year-old child, he needs a channel to express himself. Talking with children is a form of expression. Why don't I record with a podcast? maybe when he grows up he can listen to how he talked when he was little. because I want to record the conversation between me and my child. it will be easier to use podcasts than video recordings.
it didn't take long to publish this first podcast, because I recorded it on my cellphone and when it was finished, I immediately uploaded it. without editing. so it is more natural. so if you listen to this podcast, there will probably be a lot of unfocused talk, because I let this topic flow as it is in the direction of my child's conversation.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
How often do I produce podcasts? It depends on whether there are things that interest my child and become an issue for him. If so, then I will offer him, "what if we record this conversation?" If he agrees, then be the podcast.
How long does it take to produce it? 10-13 minutes, on average. After the conversation, I immediately upload.
I do podcasts indefinitely, depending on issues that interest my child and if he agrees to be recorded.
I currently only spend money to buy a microphone that costs about $ 5.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
I don't take sponsorship right now, not yet.
So far there have not been many downloads. Maybe it's also because it's still new and the topic is still mixed. So it hasn't formed any further interest.
The benefit that I got until now is a form of attachment between me and my son. And maybe this little voice recording will be nice when he plays again the next 17 years.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I only use smartphones, Anchor apps, and additional microphones for smartphones.
There is no preparation for each episode. Very spontaneous and that's where it's interesting. When there is an issue that interests my son and he agrees to be recorded, let's record it!
Haven't thought about bringing in another guest in this podcast series, the closest is probably his mother.
and yes I do interviews directly with my son using a smartphones.
► How do you market your show?
I haven't thought about how listeners will find this podcast. So far I have only distributed it via WhatsApp group, Instagram Stories, and directed the link to the Spotify channel.
So far, I see that Spotify has a larger audience than Anchor. If asked what marketing medium is the most useful? maybe social media.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Just do it! Every side there must be an interesting story to tell. And don't take too long to look perfect because perfection requires a process. Naturally we will adjust ourselves from time to time.
