Brewers strike for a run on a Cooper Pratt solo homer in the top of the 12th, and then Johnny DeLuca and Ben Williamson, because that's how it was going to work for the Tampa Bay Rays. with a couple of singles, and the Rays are going to Game 5. 00:03:12
Speaker 1: Who? There was a world that Antonio Sensatella or Shane Drohan was going to get the final out of the World Series. And listen, Sensatella had a hell of a year. Hack of a bounce back between Colorado and Milwaukee. And Rowan was a good rookie starter for Milwaukee this year. But like those guys, it's like Josh Spores being on the hill for Texas to win the World Series, right? It's going to be a fun, immaculate grid answer at some point if Sensatella is the one that closes out the World Series. And it turns out that Ben Williamson, of all people, is the guy that plays hero on Wednesday night or Tuesday night, Wednesday morning.
00:03:50
Speaker 2: But at the same time, isn't that the most Brewers and Rays kind of ending to a game where you're testing their depth? And this team does. I mean, these teams have incredible depth, right? The fact that, you know, Shane Drohan had a great outing against the Dodgers and then obviously came in a tough spot. Sensatella was a great reliever this season. You know, Ben Williamson has been playing great defense, got a spot to hit and came through at the very end. So, you know, I feel like we wouldn't have gotten a true Brewers-Rays game if we didn't get tested like this in the 12th inning. And then the Rays advance, and you got to give the Rays a ton of credit here. Because I'll be completely honest with you, Jack. Even when the Rays went up 1-0 early, I thought, I mean, of course the Brewers are going to win. They don't care about, you know, a 1-0 lead. And then they tie it. And then I'm like, all right, I'm thinking about, you know, what type of videos we're going to make for the Brewers, and then the Rays score. And I'm like, okay, whatever. The Brewers are still going to come back. Then they tie, and then it's just a battle. Then the Brewers take the lead. Cooper Pratt. How many stats did we see where Cooper Pratt is the first 22-year-old with nine hits and four RBIs and 12 stolen bases in a single game? And I even tweeted out Cooper Pratt in 2023 was playing high school baseball the same year that the Texas Rangers won the World Series. And he hits that big home run, and I'm thinking to myself, all right, The Brewers won the World Series. It's amazing for them. Kind of sucks that the season is over, though. We got a sweep. We didn't even see the Rays get a win, but they just kept fighting. They kept fighting, and they never gave up. And we've been giving the Brewers a ton of credit for their relentlessness. But in this game, in this moment, backs against the wall, it was the Rays that were the more relentless team in this one. And to give even more credit to the Rays, too, right? Because we're talking about the Rays being on the precipice of a sweep. But at the same time, game one was Nick Martinez versus Jacob Mizorowski. They lost by one run. In two, the Rays kind of blew it. They should have won that baseball game. And then in game three, obviously, you know, it was an annihilation. But then in game four, the Rays just stayed in it. And I've been saying, I still think the Brewers are the second best team that we have ever covered since we started the Just Baseball show back in 2021. Right? 2021 Braves win. I'm taking the Brewers. 2022 Astros. I'm taking the Astros. And the stats would speak for itself. Podcast P, if you wouldn't mind going to check out Addison Baseball World's Twitter page, he kind of detailed the difference between the Astros and the Brewers. But regardless, 2023 Rangers. I'm taking Milwaukee. 2024 Dodgers, I'm taking Milwaukee. 2025 Dodgers, I'm taking Milwaukee. And the Rays have been playing the Brewers as tough, tougher than the Dodgers did. And they even won a game just like the Padres did. So again, shout out the Rays. They are still a fantastic team. 98 regular season wins, tied with Milwaukee for the best record at home. This team's deep and they don't give up. Tons of credit to Tampa.
00:07:01
Speaker 1: So we're going to dive into the intricacies and the big names that, decided game for the World Series. And again, it went the Rays way in 12 innings on a walk-off single the other way from Ben Williamson. But I see a whole bunch of comments here, and I just want to address this point. I need to hear, do you think Brewers should have closed with Miz? Miz could have pulled a mad bum. I didn't even think about it. Who else? I'm curious how much criticism there will be for not throwing Miz out there. Pat Murphy went for the jugular until the series was at the fingertips and got cold feet and refused to put in the best arm. Are we sure the Miz thing makes sense? Like, here's my pushback. And you can offer, you know, any type of pushback to the pushback. But my pushback to this thought is Mizoraki would be entering in a relief role, something he hasn't done this year. I know he's experienced relief role. I know he's also experienced the relief role in the postseason as recently as last year. But it's something that he hasn't done this year. And you're asking him to do it in a tie game when you're trying to sweep? And Tampa's running through all of their pitching? We're sitting here saying we have no idea who the hell throws for Tampa tomorrow. And the Cy Young Award winner is going to throw on the other side. Like this was not a must-win game for the Milwaukee Brewers. So I want to debunk that right away. But if you have pushback to that pushback that I just offered, by all means, let me hear it.
00:08:35
Speaker 2: I have zero, and I'm only going to add to your point. If Joey Ortiz makes that play at third, right, and Jake Bowers is able to make that scoop, one out, then the shortstop, Cooper Pratt, is going to be in position rather than double play depth in order to get that Liam Hicks grounder to the left side. There's two outs. And Shane Drohan probably ultimately shuts the door. And I assume a lot of, or at least some of the comments are from Brewers fans. Upset. I get it.
00:09:08
Speaker 1: You just lost the game. And you wanted your best picture in the game. We were up one, not tied. Like, that is the clapback, I guess. But, I mean, you're asking him right after the Pratt-Homer to get hot in a blink? Your Cy Young Award winner has three hitters to get hot?
00:09:22
Speaker 2: We don't have faith in the Brewers bullpen doing a job? when did that happen? Are we right now talking about how Aaron Ashby hasn't allowed a run in 40 days and how the entire Brewers bullpen has been basically flawless. This entire run, Shane drone got the ground ball, the third Shane drone, then got the ground ball, the second base they were. And then the raise again, credit to them. Like I, I don't want to make this episode all about the Brewers' bullpen management because at the end of the day, I didn't see a bullpen. problem not going to your Game 5 starter when you're up 3-0 in the series and you have a one-run lead. When Shane Drone has come out of the bullpen before and he already performed against the Dodgers and he got the ground balls that you needed. This was simply... The Rays' magic manufacturing runs in any way they could. This has nothing to do with Pat Murphy. This has nothing to do with the Brewers' bullpen. This is about the Rays. So I didn't even think about Miz coming in in that moment. And I'm sure Pat Murphy wasn't thinking about it either. He's like, I believe in drawing. I didn't get the ground ball. He did. Didn't work out. That's baseball. I'm not going to blame Pat Murphy for that.
00:10:40
Speaker 1: No. No. And I'm not going to blame this loss on the omission of Jacob Mizorowski. No, no.
00:10:46
Speaker 2: This is a Rays win more than a Brewers loss, in my opinion.
00:10:50
Speaker 1: And you know what? Milwaukee has three more shots to try.
00:10:54
Speaker 2: And the Rays are so good. The Rays are a phenomenal baseball team that has just been overshadowed. That has just been overshadowed by the fact that the Brewers are up 3-0 in the series. But like I said earlier, the Rays could have won game two. completely battled in game one in a spot where they were totally, you know, underestimated. It's late. I don't know the right word to describe it. But what I mean is you have Miz starting at home versus Dick Martinez. You're supposed to lose. And they still came close to winning that game as well. Like the Rays could win tomorrow, even with Mizorowski on the mound. The Rays are a phenomenal team. They have the best record tied with the Brewers at home at the Trop. It is really hard to beat them. Like this wasn't just going to be a cakewalk. Brewers or the Rays are a great team. They are.
00:11:43
Speaker 1: They're the best team in the American League. And Peyton makes the point. Drohan didn't really throw well against the Dodgers and the CS either. But I mean, if it's if it's a Shane Drohan versus Mizorowski conversation in game four, I'm like when I'm up three on a series and we're already in the 12th. And Mizorowski starting tomorrow, I go drone 100 times.
00:12:06
Speaker 2: Out of 100.
00:12:06
Speaker 1: I don't blame Pat Murphy for that whatsoever. We're going to get into a fun cast of characters, Chorio, Pratt, and then obviously some Tampa guys in a moment. But before that, I do want to shout out our friends at Lids because Lids is the premier spot to go and get your baseball merch, get your baseball cards. They're getting big into the collectible space, and it should be available wherever you go to your Lids, whichever location. You do find yourself at around the United States. Lids is rocking with collectibles. They've got all the newest card drops. They've got great MLB apparel as well. And a reminder to use code or no, not a code reminder to text two nine zero one seven. Yeah. And there is a code, right? You text for 15 percent off.
00:12:56
Speaker 2: Yeah, text BASEBALL to 29017 for 15% off your first purchase at Lids. I'm actually, after the World Series is done, I want to go over to the Lids because it's right around the corner from me. Excellent shop. I mean, they just got everything. They got all the hat designs, incredible gear, absolute no-brainer. If you're a Brewers fan, if you're a Rays fan and you want to get some World Series merch, Lids has to be the place. And again, 15% off. Super easy. Text BASEBALL to 29017. Yeah, it's late. You know, I'm allowed to. It's late. Yeah. And it's almost midnight for me. It's almost one in the morning for you. So I go. Yeah. You know, we're not going to be wordsmiths here. We're going to be ball knowers. We're going to be ball knowers.
00:13:38
Speaker 1: And in terms of ball knowing, I do want to shout out a couple of brewers before we get into the Tampa side. Jackson Choreo, two for six with a double in game for Jackson Choreo becomes the first guy since Babe Ruth and the second guy ever joining Babe Ruth. with 10 hits in the first four games of a World Series. The great Bambino did it in 1928. He's doing it 98 years later in 2026 at 22 years old. It seems inevitable, although, like, Pratt is making a late surge at this point, although they didn't win this, and Contreras, we'll see what kind of game he has, assuming the Brewers do win the World Series. That kind of history, joining Babe Ruth in some sort of category... makes this a pretty easy MVP selection and Chorio, albeit they were not overwhelmingly impactful hits tonight, two more hits for 10 in the first four games of the world series is incredible to wrap your head around. Yeah.
00:14:40
Speaker 2: It could be playing left field at LSU this year. He is about the same age as the quarterbacks that you're currently calling college football games for cold blooded. We've talked at length, you know, about him, um, And yeah, if the Brewers go on to win the World Series, I think right now you've got to put Jackson Chorio in the driver's seat. But the thing is, who are we to put anybody in the driver's seat? Anything can happen in baseball. Who are we to say that the Brewers are going to win the World Series, folks? We've seen it before. Not in the World Series, but my Yankees lost to the Red Sox. Crazier has legitimately happened.
00:15:21
Speaker 1: Yeah, but they've made seven Netflix documentaries about that series.
00:15:25
Speaker 2: Well, get ready for 10 from this one if the Rays pull it off. Because again, if the Rays are in the trop, they could beat the Avengers, Jack. They can do it. They've been playing the Brewers tough this whole series outside of game three. So I don't really want to talk about the World Series MVP right now. I really don't. But you know what? Unfortunately, what I feel like we should talk about Junior Caminero limping off the field at the end there. His availability tomorrow, probably in question. Hopefully he's okay. But at the same time, he's got to be so frustrated because he hasn't gotten a pitch, it feels like, all series long. I mean, they said it on the broadcast. Nobody has seen less strikes in the playoffs than Junior Caminero. I get it. Why would you throw him a strike? Make everybody else in the Rays lineup beat you. And it's been a good game plan for Milwaukee so far. But still, if you don't have Junior in the middle of that lineup against the Miz, where against Mizorowski, like he put up some good ABs. I remember he smacked a ball to center field. It was caught, but it went off the bat at 113. Like you need that guy in your lineup if you want to win game five. So I hope he's okay. But also, how about Chandler Simpson, dude?
00:16:49
Speaker 1: Yes.
00:16:50
Speaker 2: I mean, this guy, what did he do tonight? Couple of knocks. Made some good defensive plays out there and left. Of course, you know, in game three, when he smacked himself against the wall. And then again in game four tonight, the leaping catch against the wall. The speed on the bases. That base hit to kind of set up this entire inning anyway. What a player, such a dynamic player and such a nuisance to play. Like Chandler Simpson is the player that all 29 other teams wish they had on their team, but the Razor just lucky that he's on their team. And he's been bouncing around the entire lineup. Like he it's 30, it's 40, it's 70, it's sixth. You can lead off if they wanted to. He's just this Swiss army knife everywhere. And the defense has been a huge upgrade for him because he's, Funny enough, I remember talking about Chandler Simpson earlier on in the season. Do you remember that? Where we were like, he's so fast. How is he not a good defender?
00:17:53
Speaker 1: No, turns out he's been great.
00:17:54
Speaker 2: He's just getting better and better as the season progresses. The bat to ball is excellent. This is just such a good player that the Rays have.
00:18:03
Speaker 1: I'm not saying this through the lens of he's the best player on the field. I'm not even saying this through the lens of he's a star. But Chandler Simpson changes the fabric of every game that he plays. And, I mean, this guy does not bounce into double plays. There was a ground ball that he hit over to short today that resulted in a 6-4 fielder's choice. And Joe Davis' call in real time was, that's a double play for really anyone except Chandler Simpson. And as the camera panned over on the return from Terang, Simpson is like already taking his batting gloves off, like standing on the turf beyond the first baseline. It's amazing the kind of game changing speed he has. And every single time he puts the ball in play, everyone's internal clock defensively is already going off. And then when he's on the base pads, it's all you're thinking about. And I know that he got picked off tonight. He got into that rundown and that ended.
00:19:02
Speaker 2: A half inning.
00:19:03
Speaker 1: But like he plants a thought. in the forefront of every pitcher's mind, he is the game when he's standing at first base, he's the game when he's standing at second base. And to your point, the defensive strides that he's taken, he changes the way games look just by his presence because of how game wrecking fast he is. It's a joy to watch him play right now. It's been really fun.
00:19:30
Speaker 2: Three for five tonight. And again, a good note from podcast P here in our private chat, Simpson was a lifetime infielder before pro ball, and he made the adjustment out to left field, and it took him a little bit to kind of get acclimated to that position and now he's making game saving plays in the World Series just his progression as a baseball player. has been so fun to watch. Another note that I wanted to talk about, how about this raise bullpen right backs against the wall, Brian Baker, giving them multiple innings, Tyler Wells coming out and shutting the door. You know, it was nice bounce back for Kevin Kelly who struggled Nick Martinez, just filling in innings, two innings, only gave up one hit. Cam Boozer, you know, another guy who the Brewers kind of teed off of in game three, that huge inning where Cam Boozer was, you know, I don't mean to be mean to him, but he was throwing a yes hitter. And, you know, Ian Seymour, of course, gave up that home run to Cooper Pratt. But ultimately, you know, you look at the box score, Griffin Jacks went four innings. This game went 12 innings, which means the Rays bullpen went eight innings, one run. They only gave up. four hits. And two of those were from Ian Seymour again in that final inning. So shout out the Rays bullpen because, you know, a lot of these guys needed some confidence builders and they got it. And again, if the Rays have to do some sort of quasi bullpen game, maybe Nick Martinez is in or Rasmussen pitches on short rest, that bullpen is going to be asked to fill innings again. And they might not have, you know, rested arms, but their minds are I think are going to be put at ease after this game. So it was a huge development again for the raise bullpen.
00:21:13
Speaker 1: Can I ask you, did it feel like the raise bullpen emptied the tank tonight? No, I'd be curious to see if they have anything left tomorrow.
00:21:24
Speaker 2: Well, cause boozer, you know, he only went nine pitches. Kevin Kelly went 12 Baker went 21. So he could go again. And it was also his first appearance in the world series. So he'll be fine. Tyler Wells pitched 24. I think he could go again.
00:21:43
Speaker 1: Everyone's going to go again. It's just everybody was good. So I wonder if everyone gave their best to keep this thing going one more game.
00:21:52
Speaker 2: I just have so much respect for this raised bullpen because I think our opinion of it got kind of shadowed again.
00:22:00
Speaker 1: It's unfair.
00:22:01
Speaker 2: Because of game three. But they've been locked down and they needed kind of this boost. backs against the wall again playing with nothing to lose no i don't think they're gas at all and especially even the pitch count wouldn't say that either i get what you mean because it did feel like an empty the tank game going 12 innings and they're filling eight of them but when you look at the pitch counts no i think they'll be good for tomorrow.
00:22:26
Speaker 1: Okay i wonder performance wise if they're going to be good for tomorrow and i see yeah that's that's a question I appreciate everybody watching along on YouTube and X right now. I see our comment section lighting up like Matz is going to throw early. Maybe you go Matz for three or like Martinez for a couple right on no days rest because he just threw two tonight. And then Rasmussen on short rest to your point. Like, I don't know if they do that. And that's the other element. And there was some dialogue about that on the broadcast a little bit late in game about Rasmussen. I don't know if Rasmussen makes sense in game five. And it's crazy to say that because backs against the wall, you got to do whatever you got to do. But Joe Davis and Smoltz were making the point, this guy has three major elbow surgeries in the rear view. And they mentioned how hard the Rays have had to work to get Rasmussen through the year. Like Rasmussen had a hard cap at 150 in 2025. And he built beyond that this year. Like, it can't just be rip, roar, and gloves are off, time to go to TJ and an internal brace guy. Like, that almost seems like malpractice. It sucks because your season's on the line, and it'll be the second night in a row that your season's on the line, but it makes so much more sense to hold Rasmussen for game six than it does throw out of the pen in game five.
00:23:54
Speaker 2: I agree with everything that you said. But I'm going to go back to the first thing that you said. Backs against the wall. What are you supposed to do? Can you imagine, you know, the uproar that Kevin Cash is going to receive if he doesn't go with Drew Rasmussen and then this bullpen kind of gets hit up and it's like, we're not putting our freaking ace on the mound here. I get it though. Like the elbow surgeries, the cap, working him through the year. He didn't even perform that well against the Brewers in his first outing. everything makes sense, but sometimes nothing makes sense when you're at home in an elimination game, which I feel like is kind of setting us up now to preview game five. Yes, absolutely.

Speaker 2: You get a tax works. That works.
00:25:42
Speaker 1: We were just, we were just talking about it. Like just trying to piece together what this.
00:25:47
Speaker 2: Could look like.
00:25:48
Speaker 1: It's probably Matt's for a few innings. Clevenger will certainly throw.
00:25:52
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:25:53
Speaker 1: Maybe Nick Martinez. Um, Maybe Freddy Peralta for an inning or two on one day rest?
00:26:02
Speaker 2: So I think you go Rasmussen one time through. You don't go full bore, but you get three innings out of Rasmussen. And then it sets you up to go to Kelly, Baker, Wells, Boozer, Seymour. If all of them can fill an inning, that's eight. And maybe Rasmussen can give you four. Maybe Nick Martinez can come back in. You have Cole Solser. Again, you have Garrett Clevenger. They got enough arms to make it a game. And sometimes, you know, in the postseason, just because we feel like their backs are against the wall and they've been used a lot, doesn't necessarily mean that the Brewers are just going to automatically hit them. For one, they didn't hit them tonight. And number two, we've seen where bullpen games can be as effective as an ACE level starter than handing it off to the Brewers bullpen. Because you just, you don't get comfortable with any guy, right? You might see Rasmussen once and then you see Boozer and then you see Wells, then you see Baker or Kelly. You're just getting completely different looks. I'm not willing to just put the Rays to the side and say they can't win this game after capturing all that momentum tonight. That was a gigantic loss. where they still have to feel that same sense of we're playing on house money here. Nobody expects us to win anyway. Let's throw everything we got at them. That's a good mindset to have. And for Milwaukee, they haven't been in this situation before. This team's never won a World Series, right? They've been amazing. I still trust them, and I'm probably going to pick them still. But they've never been in this situation. What is Pat Murphy telling the clubhouse right now? How are all these young guys on the Brewers feeling? After that emotional rollercoaster deep into the night, then having to go play against the Rays at the Trop again. I have no idea. Maybe they bounce back and they feel nothing. And they're like, screw you, Peter. We don't give a shit. We're the freaking Milwaukee Brewers. We are the second best team you ever covered. We're going to go bum rush them.
00:28:12
Speaker 1: Sure.
00:28:13
Speaker 2: Could easily happen. What could also happen? So the Rays sprinkle a little bit more magic dust. And pull out a win that looks like tonight. I'm just saying, crazier has happened. That's all I'll say.
00:28:31
Speaker 1: Jacob Mizorowski will start on regular rest. The four days rest. It was irregular for him in the regular season. Jacob Mizorowski, he made 16 starts on five days rest. He made 10 starts on six or more days rest. He made four starts on four days rest. In those four starts... 22 innings at a 1-6-4 ERA. He caved 34 and walked three. It's going to be hard.
00:29:02
Speaker 2: So, I think we both agree. Jacob Mizorowski is a pretty good pitcher.
00:29:06
Speaker 1: Mizorowski is a good pitcher.
00:29:07
Speaker 2: He's going to be tough.
00:29:08
Speaker 1: The only guy that's unavailable, and I did see our YouTube comments lighting this one up, and I appreciate the shout. Ashby should get some MVP consideration.
00:29:18
Speaker 2: Yes, but also, is Ashby available for game five after 31 pitches?
00:29:21
Speaker 1: No, he's not.
00:29:23
Speaker 2: Edge Rays, right? That's the guy who has the longest scoreless streak in the history of the MLB playoffs. And no, that's not me being hyperbolic because we're recording in the dead of night. He just passed Andrew Miller for the longest scoreless streak in postseason history. And he's not available. They can hit McGill. They can hit Uribe. They can hit these guys. Again, from our guy Peyton at Baseball with Peyton on X. Best pitching win probability added in a single postseason. 2021 Kirch or 2021. 2001, Curt Schilling at 207. And 2026, Aaron Ashby at number two at 178, surpassing 2014, Madison Bumgarner. So to your point, he absolutely should get MVP consideration. But I don't want to talk about MVP consideration, Jack. We got a game tomorrow.
00:30:21
Speaker 1: I know. We can talk about that if.
00:30:22
Speaker 2: The Brewers win. I'm just saying.
00:30:24
Speaker 1: We do.
00:30:25
Speaker 2: These Rays are deadly.
00:30:27
Speaker 1: I'm looking at bullpen usage. I think McGill is available for five outs. Hell, maybe six. I think Uribe is available again. I think Jojo Romero is available again.
00:30:42
Speaker 2: D.L.
00:30:42
Speaker 1: Hall is the big question here because he threw 24 pitches. But I think break glass in case of emergency with an off day and travel day before game six. I think Hall could be available again. So I really think the only down guy is.
00:30:59
Speaker 3: Ashby.
00:31:00
Speaker 1: So we'll see, man. He is the best arm in that bullpen right now. But they're really freaking good. Like McGill and Uribe and Hall and Romero are really freaking good. I think it's contingent upon Mizorowski to go five for Milwaukee tomorrow. I think if Mizorowski goes five innings, it's going to be really damn hard for the Rays to win this baseball game. But if Mizorowski is spraying a little bit and he goes short and he doesn't get out of the fourth or he only throws four, then we're having a different kind of conversation. But I think if Mizorowski goes five, I side with Milwaukee. And I gave you before the World Series began Brewers in five.
00:31:44
Speaker 2: We'll see.
00:31:45
Speaker 1: You and I are Brewers in six. I decided to cut a game off of that.
00:31:51
Speaker 2: You're probably right. But don't I have to stick with my Prediction then? Absolutely.
00:31:56
Speaker 1: Absolutely.
00:31:57
Speaker 2: You know what? Give me the Rays. I'm just tired enough. I'm just excited enough after that win. I can see the path. Rasmussen. I'm looking straight at the camera. Give me four. All I need is four.
00:32:13
Speaker 3: I know.
00:32:13
Speaker 2: You got 12 elbow surgeries. Your arm probably wants to feel like it's going to fall off. Give me four. Give me four. Kelly. Sharpen up. You got the fifth. Booser, sharpen up. You got the sixth. Tyler Wells, we need you. You got the seventh. Brian Baker, we need two. We need two from you, brother. We need two. I know you're throwing 92 right now. I know it looks like his arm's going to fall off too. Change-ups. Call Tommy Canely. I think he just started a new podcast. I saw a clip of that.
00:32:49
Speaker 1: He did.
00:32:49
Speaker 2: Call him. Call him. How do you throw a change-up every single pitch and be effective?
00:32:55
Speaker 1: Canely and Zach Britton are doing a pod. If you want to learn how to throw an off-speed pitch, go listen to that podcast.
00:33:02
Speaker 2: Ray's win. Brian Baker makes the call. He throws 15 straight change-ups, two 7-8 pitch innings. Ray's win. We're headed back to Milwaukee.
00:33:13
Speaker 1: It's 108 a.m. Just take us out. Let me go to bed.
