Poway is still coming to terms with the shock and pain from the shooting at the Congregation Chabad of Poway. In this podcast I share my thoughts on the reactions of fellow Powegians and ideas to move forward positively.

We discuss the community rallying in support and solidarity with
the Chabad in various vigils in Poway where people came together to cry
together, pray together and support one another.  We discuss the leadership of Mayor Steve Vaus
and the tone he struck with people in the community.  We talk at length about Poway Unified School
District Superintendent Dr. Marian Kim-Phelps and her upstanding efforts to
drive out hate in the classroom and the community.  We discuss the goodness of Lori Gilbert-Kaye.  We talk about Rabbi Goldstein and his trip to
Washington DC for the National Day of Prayer.

I took time to talk with friends and neighbors both in
person and in social media.  The grief in
the community was strong, but still people were offering quality ideas to bring
people together to drive out hate.  We
talk about addressing reality (This IS Poway), showing love with others and
educating people on a range of cultures, religions and traditions.

I spoke at length about the topic of Identity Politics, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Declaration of Independence, Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.  I also discuss Free Speech, Hate Speech and difficult conversations.

I invite my fellow community members to join me here for a podcast
conversation.  I would enjoy learning your
thoughts and hope our neighbors can learn and grow as we work our way through
these difficult issues.
