Today I want to speak with you all about masculinity, what we’re calling ‘toxic masculinity,’ and what it means to be a man in the world today.   In this episode, I’m exploring my own experiences around masculinity, what toxic masculinity is, and most importantly: what’s missing from today’s image of masculinity (because that is the key to healthy communication and emotional expression!)   If we want masculinity and toxic masculinity to change, we have to change the way we interact with one another, as well as play the role that wasn’t played for us earlier on in life. We have to be the change we want to see in the world.   Topics Discussed: [:42] About today’s episode. [1:10] Opening up today’s story with an aspect of my growing up and how part of my ideas around masculinity were shaped. [4:07] What is toxic masculinity? [7:52] What is missing from the modern day’s image of masculinity? [8:55] My argument: why we don’t need this current picture of masculinity in today’s world. [11:50] How to start fighting against these norms of masculinity. [13:40] As parents, it’s our job to do better and work on changing society’s ideas around masculinity. [17:40] I want to hear from you! Screenshot this podcast, tag me, and let me know what resonated for you.   Mentioned in this Episode: IGNTD Recovery (Register and join the free workshop!)
