► Why & how did you start this podcast?
Podcasts are an easy way to consume information from wherever you are. I do listen to podcasts myself and appreciate short ones for learning tips and tricks and longer ones for more story telling. I aim to help parents with 10-20 minute long podcasts to refresh them on what's happening during adolescence, tell funny stories and keep it real (with the hopes of helping them in the long run) and give some advice for the times we are in now. I started my podcast in Summer 2021 and it was pretty easy to release the first episode. Keeping the podcast to tips and tricks and consumable chunks of information is key. I'm a teacher, so it's important that I apply best teaching practices to my podcast. I usually point things out in 3-4 steps and I make sure to give examples and ways parents can apply the information to their family.

► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
The new goal is to release an episode twice per week (Tuesdays for "Parent Tip Tuesday" and Fridays for "Finally Freakin' Friday"). I record at my home from my phone, so it's very low budget. I fund it myself and use as many free tools as I can. I love learning, so I can usually research and figure things out myself. I lay out my content ideas before hand and usually make a short outline, then go from there. Again, it's in consumable chunks, so it doesn't take that long to record. Editing is non-existent. I am working on not being a perfectionist with content creation and realize that the value is there whether or not is beautifully edited. As long as my listeners can hear me well and my message is clear and to the point, that's what matters!
► What do you gain from podcasting?
I am open to taking sponsorship, depending on the mission, values and goals of the company. I do not have any revenue yet; this is purely to provide value to parents. Podcasting benefits me by giving me a quick and easy way to provide value to more parents around the world. It's fun to give back and share my expertise!
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I use podbean for everything now. I used something different in the past, but that's it. I have an apple account and upload to all others. I'll be interviewing guests soon and I find them from social media and networking in person through people I know and meet. I prepare by doing an outline, yet, after 25 years in my field, talking about these topics are easy and flow for me...
► How do you market your show?
Marketing is organic right now through all channels.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Just do it! Don't worry about fancy equipment or editing to get started.. that's sure to come! Make sure to provide value and have that be your number one goal. and... don't try to talk about something that you don't know about. ;)
