► Tell us about you and your podcast
Hey! We're two friends who think they're funny. Who like to hang out and talk. We like to chat about our lives, roast the world, and sometimes learn something. We really like being together and being able to enjoy our friendship. We laugh A LOT and make fun of each other. We hate being left alone with our thoughts too much, so we want to make sure others aren't left alone with their thoughts too much either.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
We started this podcast because we've joked about it for years. We've always had the idea to do something creative and fun together. Something low pressure but still an amazing adventure and a joyful time together.
We started this podcast because we like to laugh and spend time together, so creating something with one another seemed like the best idea. Plus, we like to talk a lot, so a podcast, something where only talking happens, worked best for us.
Our goal with this podcast is to make sure that people know they aren't alone. We're lucky to have each other and be together once a week, but we know that isn't the same for everyone. So we want people who can't hang out with friends, or don't have many, have a space to come hang out and laugh with us.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
We're two stay at home (mostly) moms who have a little time here and there. And when we do, we make the time to record. Sometimes we don't have all the time, energy, or brain power, to come up with a topic. Which just kind of makes more chaos, which is sometimes fun.
We release episodes weekly! Every Wednesday we drop a brand new chaotic episode.
We do fully fund the podcast ourselves at the bare bones. We have two slightly cheap, but great mics and we use audacity to edit.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
We really only gain friendship and fun from making this podcast. We don't have any sponsors, but of course we would love some. But we're here to create fun, chaos, friendship, and something that makes others laugh and feel less lonely.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
We use two Tonor TC-777 microphones and Audacity for editing. We use Transistor as our publishing platform!
We don't really prepare our podcasts much. We usually pick a topic and chat about it the majority of the episode. When research is required, we do it! But other than that, we let ourselves be and just wing it. Which is usually how we best work.
► How do you market your show?
We are on ApplePodcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, ListenNotes, Amazon Music, and any and all other podcast platforms. Most of our listeners come from Apple Podcasts or Spotify.
We use Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Instagram seems to be the most useful with finding new listeners!
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Do all the research on your microphones and editing software as you can. Do lots and lots of test run episodes until you feel like you've got it right. Our first four episodes are rough, sound-wise, and it's hard to listen back to it. If we could go back we would've done a dozen run throughs until it sounded like it does now. But hey, we were new and we finally figured it out.
BuzzSprout has a really good run down of editing, mics, promotion, and really good resources!
